Terri-I am not certain if pedicure spacers would work the same. The pedicure spacers I am familiar with are very thin form. These visibly spread my toes much more. Couldn't hurt to try though.
Kylia-thanks for sharing pictures-you two look like you are having a wonderful time.
Rebecca-Eli looks perfect! Congratulations to all!
Joy-sorry to hear about loss of your cat. My two are each 14 and while them seem healthy they have slowed down considerably-I figure they are now on borrowed time.
Meetings yesterday were good. To Columbus today for an organizational meeting for training next year. It is an enjoyable group. Then may use a little vacation on way home at casino. I enjoy it but am glad it is about an hour from me-not tempted to go too often!
Weather cooling off here today-it the 70s during the day and low 60s-50s overnight. Will open windows over weekend for the mornings if allergy stuff is down. Ragweed is really bad. Seems to bother me more each year.
Off to get ready for the day.
Take care all,

Here is the monthly list I use for you to copy if you’d like. Thank you Machka for posting the calendar. I always forget to post it in a format that works on here.
2023 Self-Care September 20231. Find time for self-care. It’s not selfish. It’s essential.
2. Notice the things you do well, however small.
I'm spending quite a bit of time relaxing this weekend. Self-care.
And what do I do well? I don't know ... the usual household things like the laundry I've done this weekend, working on my drystream, cycling, colouring.
3. Let go of self-criticism and speak to yourself kindly.
4. Plan a fun or relaxing activity and make time for it.
I'm not usually overly critical of myself but I will question myself, like "What are you doing?"
And today, I went for a long-ish walk at lunch then did some colouring at home after work.
5. Forgive yourself when things go wrong. Everyone makes mistakes.
And most of the time, mistakes can be fixed.
6. Focus on the basics: eat well, exercise, and go to bed on time.
All good except for the "go to bed on time" thing.
7. Give yourself permission to say ‘no’..
Getting better at that. I'm working my way through emails and unsubscribing!10. Be willing to share how you feel and and ask for help when needed.
11. Aim to be good enough, rather than perfect.
12. When you find things hard, remember it’s ok to not be ok.
13. Make time to do something you really enjoy.
14. Get active outside and give your mind and body a natural boost.
15. Be as kind to yourself as you would to a loved one.
16. If you’re busy, allow yourself to pause and take a break.
17. Find a caring calming phrase to use when you feel low.
18. Leave positive messages for yourself to see regularly.
19. No plans day. Make time to slow down and be kind to yourself.
20. Ask a trusted friends to tell you what strengths they see in you.
21. Notice what you are feeling without any judgement.
22. Enjoy photos from a time with happy memories.
23. Don’t compare how you feel inside to how others appear outside.
24. Take your time. Make space to just breathe and be still.
25. Let go of other people’s expectations of you.
26. Accept yourself and remember that your are worthy of love.
27. Avoid saying ‘I should’ and make time to do nothing.
28. Find a new way to use one of your strengths or talents.
29. Free up time by canceling any unnecessary plans.
30. Choose to see your mistakes as steps to help you learn.
31. Write down 3 things you appreciate about yourself.
32. Remind yourself you are enough, just as you are.

Kylia - Why not do it now? If that's what you want. Go for it now. Tomorrow is not promised. Live your heart's desire. Now.
DH and Max have been happily looking at Maths concepts, playing Risk, and now funny videos. DH wondered if Max wanted to do a jigsaw of the Periodic Table, which led to them listening to the song, 'The Elements ', by Tom Lehrer. Max decided against the jigsaw. My part was to provide food and beverages, and tell Max funny tales about our school days and being naughty in science lessons. .
I had an excellent morning writing about 'Art', and now I'm on my bed with the fan blowing, reading improving books.
Last night I did a good deed by helping G with her frustration and anger with her sister, who is visiting. This morning she was very grateful, and I hope she has been able to safely deliver her sister to her train. (She has to go with her up to and through London on the train, to the last one at St Pancras)
The gist of my response was, that we have to let people be themselves, we can't change them, however much we want to, they can't help it and are doing the best they know how. Just be glad you are not them.
It is also a good idea to limit your contact, which she will have to for her sanity. Just because you love someone, does not mean you have to spend time with them, to your own detriment.
I think G knows that.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Thanks ladies! After family, you were the next people I thought of to inform.💖🤗
So last night I talked to my eldest sister in video chat. Of course explaining my feelings, the joy hearing about Eli coming into the world, well I just broke down and cried. I don't know if its because I am tapering off my meds (Welbutrin) a bit, or just that she's my safe haven. I seem to always let my guard down when talking to her. It was needed I guess!

Rebecca - It's great to cry! I love a good cry of happiness and relief. Nothing better. You have been through so much this month. I rarely cry through sadness, hurt, or anger. I often cry from something sweet and touching, or relief.

Last week felt like Autumn here, but this week…… Been in the 100’s again. But, looks like Monday it cools off again. I’ve had about enough of summer! Lol
Starting back to teaching my 6 week beginner computer class tonight. I’m going to have only about 5 people, but that’s ok. I can do one-on-one easier that way.
Allergies are still a bugger, but asthma is now under control with the new medicines. I don’t know how long I’ll be able to take that new med as it is over $200 for 45 days! Now only worried about kidney issue. Still haven’t heard from either nephrologist or cardiologist for appointments. Good news is the change in my blood pressure medication is working. My BP is gone down to normal levels again. In my opinion, all these medial issues came about because of a colitis attack. That can reek havoc with your immune system and I think the timing made it worse because of ragweed pollen season. But, I’m no doctor, but makes sense to me.
I am taking an AARP refresher class on driving. My insurance will give me a 20% discount if I have that class. Worth it to me as I get the money back the first month payment after the discount. It is good for 3 years before I need to take it again. This is the second time I take it. So no big deal, but a 4 hour computer class. Luckily, I can split it up. I’ve taken 4 days to finish it. Taking my time.
Updated: 26 Days dry, 30 minute morning walk 4 days in row, and weight is still going down slowly, but still going down! YAY ME!

Rebecca ... Congratulations! I think I see a little Athena in Eli ...
Santa ... I told my 11 year old son when he was starting to get teased at school for believing and when I was also pregnant with his younger brother (11 years apart). I was due Christmas and wasn't sure what I was going to be able to accomplish that year. Turns out I ended up on bedrest. Anyways, my oldest cried and cried until I reminded him that he could help me be Santa for at least another 8-10 years.
Carol ... identity and card theft are a pain! Glad you're not on the hook for anything.
Pip ... congratulations on becoming debt-free! It's the only way my husband and I were able to retire early.
I usually have no problems falling asleep and staying asleep, but have run into a jag of insomnia. It's left me very tired and subsequently I've become very weepy. Not thrilled about that as my healthy food intentions fly right out the window.

I looked up tapering off Welbutrin, and it isn't recommended to cut tablets, which is what I have Bern doing. But I figure, that its only said, because its hard to get even doses. I however have a pill cutter so I get even doses. I was on it only started 7-29 so not too long. I was on 1/2 pills for a week and now 1/2 pills every other day. I hope my doctor isn't too annoyed with me.
I do like crying!

Good morning ladies,
Got my morning walk in and then spent a lot of time down a rabbit hole watching an interview with James Nestor, author of "Breath", which some of us have read.
We've been discussing "The Blue Zones" and longevity. Nestor maintains one of the biggest keys to longevity is lung capacity, and just focusing on diet alone doesn't do it.
Which makes me wonder - Blue Zone's researcher Dan Buettner stresses diet, for sure, but also activity, like the sustained activity doing things outside, like walking long distances or doing physical labor like gardening, for example, which folks in the Blue Zones are doing. Activity our ancestors did for centuries. Is the secret to more activity and the positive effect on longevity actually due the increased lung functon it creates which benefits not only our circulatory systems, but other health and brain benefits we didn't realize were also positively impacted by proper nasal breathing?
If I'm sitting hunched over a laptop or in front of the TV for hours on end, then walk on the treadmill for 20 minutes or do a 20 minute walking video, does that spurt of exercise make up for my restricted breathing caused by sitting with bad posture for most of the rest of the day?
Or is it really better to be active more, all day long, (at least 10 minutes of standing movement for every hour of sitting or whatever the recommendation is) and use our lungs more?
The interview also goes into nasal breathing (our noses amp up nitric oxide which is a virus and bacteria killer, humming multiplies the effect) and stopping mouth breathing at night which contributes to sleep apnea, reduced sleep quality according to the research Nestor presents.
Anyhow, he covers LOTS more. Here's a link to the video:
And a link to Nestor's website - I focused on the bibliography page which cites research findings and more videos.

Rebecca--Great news on your new grandson. Beautiful little one.
Rita--Great on your updated stats.
Not a lot to say, hip and back are giving me a lot of pain. Went to Chiropractor and it helps, but still hurting. Taking it one day at a time.

While I lay on the bed upstairs, with the fan blowing, DH and Max shared videos of funny piano performances. The British amongst us will know Morecambe and Wise's Andrew Previn video very well, And Victoria Wood's, 'Let's Do It'. They also had fun with Victor Borgia. All on YouTube.
He was reluctant to go home, so I guess he had a good time!
DH told us about lots of amazing pranks he played when he was younger. One he hasn't told Max yet, but I hope he will, was inventing a fictitious pupil at his school where he was teaching, and sending the report form round for the teachers to fill in. They all did!
Max has his first day back at school tomorrow. It's just them and the first years. Instead of their school uniforms, because of the heatwave, they have been told they can wear their gym kit. How wonderfully sensible!
My favourite decluttering programme tonight. 'Sort Your Life Out'. Then 'Ambulance', another favourite of mine. Neither of those are DH'S pick, so I will watch them in the bedroom.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx3 -
Good afternoon from Arkansas...
Beth - I'm sorry the insomnia is wreaking havoc with your food choices. The struggle is real, my dear. I've just been tracking my food again since Sunday, not trying to restrict, just observe, and yesterday was the only day I haven't stayed within my calories. Also the only day where I only slept three hours the night prior. Something in my brain says that food will make me feel better when I'm muzzy from lack of sleep, and it never works.
Have finally cooled down from a few hours of working in the yard, hauled two big loads of cut brush to the burn pit. Got my plants repotted, talked to my best friend, talked to Corey and got dinner settled (leftovers tonight, ham/cauliflower au gratin tomorrow), then I talked to my daughter and ate a little bit of lunch. Now a quick nap and then the next thing, whatever that may be. Probably try out my new vacuum, which finally arrived, and is charging up as we speak...
Later, y'all,
Love,

Worked for an hour or so decluttering the living room- another hour or more to go for that side(maybe not that long, but the other corner around my bike needs some work again).
Another day of drama with MIL- yelled at dh the other day, told him not to bring breakfast because she wouldn't eat it(and she didn't, he threw it away the next day which he should have just left it a few more days, let it pile up) so today, he didn't bring food and she threw a fit because he didn't bring her anything. Didn't get enough yelling at him there before he walked out so she called here to continue it-I didn't put him on the phone. Not going to have him even more worked up than he was. He gets loud, telling me what happened after messaging me the same thing- the louder he gets, the more I tune him out- I do not deal well with loud or cussing. She now wants to sign up for Meals on Wheels(I have tried to get her to agree to this for the past year)-She is not going to be happy with what they bring her but I want her to see for herself. She doesn't believe what we say anyways.
Getting ready to go walk the wetlands and enjoy an hour of peace and quiet to myself.
Walking with my Zumba friend tonight beings she missed class last night because she was stuck in traffic.
Have a wonderful Thursday ladies
Debbie
