Rosemarie I love hearing the excitement in your writing about the changes in the bedroom and living room. Sounds wonderful.
Vicki Such a small world! You said Sioux City and my ears and brain lit up. One of my dear friends from my time in the Phillipines always talks about going to the big city (Sioux City). She lives in Floyd, IA. About 3 hours east.
Rosemarie and Carol Same thing....I know Gwinnett from when my sister lived in Lawerenceburg and Alpharetta. Really a small world!
@spammyamfa- Great job on the loss so far! You ate correct, the last few pounds are the hardest. I think our bodies are saying....NO....ENOUGH....but persistence will win out.
I need to head to grocery.

Worked, started to vacuum and it was making this horrible racket. Seems we needed a new actuator so I took it to this vacuum place near here and they sold me a new one. Then stopped at WalMart because the Swiffer we had for some reason was not putting out cleaner so we needed a new one (we had tried cleaning the valves to no help). Then stopped at Ollies to see if I could get more “to/from” tags (since Jess waits until the last minute then had her gifts shipped here, so I’m sure she’s planning to wrap them here. It’s almost like “why bother wrapping on Fri just to open it on Sat” but they didn’t have any so if I see some, I’ll pick them up. Came home, went for my walk around the neighborhood then used the Swiffer.
Barbie – thanks for the reminder to take the things out of the freezer for Christmas Eve. I’ll need to go to Publix, probably tomorrow, for the fish
Annie – dear heart, I’m so very sorry (((BIG HUG)))). You’ve been such a blessing to your mom and dad. Know that there’s a special place in heaven for you (and every other caregiver). I can hardly imagine how your dad is feeling, poor dear heart. So glad your sister was with you. I wish she could stay longer. Be sure to keep up with your horseback riding. You need an outlet. I like Allie’s suggestion of adult daycare. Look into it
Made an appt. to get the root canal on the one tooth. It hasn’t felt “right” in a long time. It hurts when I bite down on something hard, like a raw carrot. I really think I’d just be putting off the inevitable. Better to get it done before we go to FL
Need ideas from people: I always feel that I should have something for people to eat when they come to see the decorations and then come inside to see the trees. Yet, I’m a bit hard pressed for something that I can make ahead of time, maybe kept refrigerated and take out of the refrigerator when I have someone over. Everyone seems to have their fill of cookies for the holidays, so I’m not inclined to have lots of cookies. Any suggestions for something I can make ahead of time and just pull out when we have company? A cheese ball doesn’t really excite me. I’d have cookies for kids but I do think adults would like something more. Cheese cubes dry out. Ideas???????
Rosemarie – good for you getting a few new things!
Allie – great hairdo
Soup kitchen tomorrow. They’re having it at the church next door since they’ll also be giving out toys for the parents to pick up for their kids. Then I’ll probably go to Publix to get the fish for Sat. I probably could have gotten it today while I was up that way at the vacuum place. Since the fish is fresh, I wasn’t sure if I could wait 2 days to cook it. I called and they said that they wouldn’t recommend more than 3 days without cooking it.
Joy – what kind of hors duerves (wrong spelling, I know) are you having?
Michele NC4 -
Michele Fruit tray? Veggie tray? Easily refillable. Could offer small cups (paper) to put dip in and hold fruit or veggies. Cheese and crackers. I forget what they are called products wrapped around cheese.
Just ideas. I don't think people expect anything if just visiting to see decorations though ..2 -
Today I fixed a nice shrimp salad. About 5 jumbo shrimp (that always makes me giggle), cheddar cheese, black olives, walnuts, fridge pickles and homemade dressing (just ketchup, mayo, ACV, and sprinkling of Old Bay. It was delightful!

Gave Chispa a bath, cut her hair and put on her onesie. She’s gotten in the habit of going upstairs by herself and sleeping upstairs (there’s a dog bed up there). I went to goodwill and found 3 red t-shirts for the kids. When it’s 50 degrees or warmer I don’t put their Christmas sweaters on, they will get too hot for the 6 mile walk. I put t-shirts on them because the ground is wet and when they walk they kick up dirt onto their bellies. This way I have less to wipe/clean once we get home.9

Kylia – I should have been more specific. See, I’m looking for something that would be fresh multiple times. Fruit and vegetable trays are typically good for the first time. I’m thinking maybe on the lines of an hors duerve (wrong spelling, I know) that I can bake in advance and then just microwave shortly before the people come (like bacon wrapped whatever. I think pizza bites get mushy in the microwave,). Just going to keep on thinking (and maybe checking the store for ideas)
pip – you take such good care of those babies.
Shower and bed. Nite all

I would go with fruit and veg. You'd have a platter out, and several platters lying in wait in the fridge.
But if you want to cook stuff, down here you'd go with spring rolls, party pies and sausage roll bites.

Annie - I am so sorry on the loss of your Mom. Biggest hugs to you

Lisa - I love excel for things like that as well. So much easier than some design programs.
My hip and back did not start healing until I stopped pushing myself. I literally worked up from 2 minutes to currently, I have about an hour in me before I need a rest. I can do more, but I pay for it in the evening, most times now if I do overdo a good nights sleep helps.
Barbara - Snow Babies are a collectible ornament collection.
Heather - Beautiful cake
I know there was much more I wanted to comment on, but I’m very tired. It’s been a hectic week. We are having Christmas on Saturday as DH works both Christmas Eve and Christmas night. I have been in high gear getting things ready. Have to bake pies and get things ready for stuffing tomorrow. I also hope to make a “back home” Christmas treat and some of my Grandmother’s sugar cookies.
We’ll see. All of the shopping and wrapping are done, that is always the worst.

On the first day of Christmas holidays ...
... I did a whole lot of garden stuff!! 🌳🌴🌿🪴🎋
I cleared out most of the patio area - moving furniture, sweeping, weeding, etc.
I cleared out most of the greenhouse which involved moving the stuff in the green house down the stairs and down the hill to the storage area near the garage ... and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth. Lots of walking and climbing!
I also took a break to hang a load of laundry outside and take Rhody for a walk.
Oh, and my mother did have a mild stroke as I suspected. She's going for further testing which I am very glad about.

Tree climbing????!!!!
I haven't climbed a tree in decades!1 -
Finally made it to grocery last night. Yay! Just odds and end things. Fueled 2 vehicles yesterday-ouch! Gas jumped 53 cents over night. Did run my work truck through the car wash.
Making chili for Saturday night with DYD and family. Spoke with DOD last night. We will be at their house for Christmas. I am taking cheesecakes which I will make on Sunday.
Yesterday DH told me that we should close at noon on Saturday. Really?!? You can't wait until Thursday before to tell me these things. I have already spent a week telling people we will be open until 2. We will be open until 2. He usually is the one saying we can't close! SMH!
Have a great day!
(((Hugs)))
Healing thoughts
Proud of all of you!

Machka - I'm sorry your mother had a stroke, and hope the tests, as Terri said, have some helpful results that can avoid future ones.
Tracey - I always thought shopping/wrapping was the worst, too - just exhausting. Christmas is nearly here! And then just the clean-up afterward...
Woke up at 4:30 and couldn't go back to sleep - busy morning in front of me, after a couple of very deliberately quiet, restful days. Second day in a row waking up without pain, so am definitely doing something right. Hopefully will continue, as I've set up the morning to involve as little effort as possible on my part: First a delivery from Walmart, then pick up at Sam's Club, where they bring it out to me, then a drive-thru for beer for Corey for the week, and back home. I have to say, I really do love this decade. Well, other than the whole pandemic thing. And getting sick. Yeah, other than that, it's great!
Luckily, even with the early wake-up, I can nap this afternoon if I choose, and I may well choose...
Corey brought home my Christmas present last night and handed it to me, because wrapping is beyond him, you know,🙄 and he was excited about it. It's a carriage lamp for the sunroom, in a style he knows I love, with the Texas star that he also knows I love. Keeping him.
Lanette - Thought of you, my favorite chicken lover. Hope the ladies continue to thrive in the cold weather...
Hope it's a good day for all,
Love y'all,

Good morning ladies! It's the morning after Solstice, and it seems a little brighter.
My dad went out for ice cream with a friend yesterday, and then my aunt took him to a special church service for those who are grieving. So that lightened my load for a few hours. Plus I got my eight hours of sleep, which is always rejuvenating. On the down side, all this stress has hit my belly hard this morning. But that will pass.
Today we need to send out the family letter with the announcement of Mom's death. That involves fighting with Dad's computer. Plus we need groceries, and I need to hit the bank, and such. Lots to do.
Have a great day my friends!

Last year this time, I was dealing with skin cancer removal surgery off my nose and hip. Photos of me are popping up in Facebook!
I had a skin check at the beginning of this December and I'm all clear.
Tonight we went to a play at our favourite theatre. The story in the play had all kinds of potential, but something seemed off ... it didn't quite deliver. But a couple of the actors were quite good. It was worth a shot!
Regarding my mother ... I am annoyed and saddened that she didn't go to the hospital right away. It was almost a week before she finally went. These days there are things they can do to reduce damage if you get medical attention right away. Unfortunately, they didn't even tell me about it for several days, and when they did, the comment was, "What could a doctor do?"
If something seems off, ladies, seek medical attention! Doctors can do a lot of things these days, but some of it hinges on being seen quickly.
