Kim – thanks for all your hard work. Wonder why he gave me azaleas since he knew that it was in full sunlight
Did take my car for the oil change. I like the fact that the place is almost next door to BK and you don’t need an appt. It was quite fast, too. They do state inspections, so I just may go there, too.
It’s Sat and went in the pool. Vince thinks this is the last weekend for the pool, but to me it may just be the last weekend to go IN the pool, I can still lay poolside. Not giving up my pool until I absolutely must.
Margaret – “always put off until tomorrow” – took a lesson from Vince, I see
Jess came here today (no Colby but she did bring Ganon). She said she wanted to use the pool, but she just slept. Oh well, she said she’d be here in a few weeks and I hope Colby comes with her. I do like him. Although, to be honest, no man is good enough for my little girl….lol
While in the pool the other day (that’s where I do my best thinking) I decided I definitely want to go with TruGreen. We do need to get the lawn looking decent and C is very good – WHEN he gets to it. He works on C time. To me, it’s just frustrating, there’s practically no communication. Like he needed to replace one plant which he did, only he didn’t tell me he did so I didn’t water it. By the time I realized that he’d planted it, it was starting to get hot and I think it got burned up because it didn’t get a good root system.
Got Vince to go thru things in the garage, one shelf at a time. We did throw some things out, which is what I was looking for. Oil for things we no longer have, etc.
Deb – happy anniversary. That neon green stain – is it grass?
Vince wants to mow the grass late in the day tomorrow, which is fine so I’ll get to go in the pool during the day. But first I’ll exercise then I think I’ll walk to Food Lion. They have chicken thighs on sale, and I may get some to put in the freezer
Mo – one of the kitties we got was abandoned by his mother, too
Barbara – cats, too, easily figure out who’s the softie and who isn’t. They know they can get away with a lot more with Vince than they can with me. Vince just says “no” whereas I’ll spray them when they get on a counter. Vince said he has a hard time walking because of his plantar faciatious (?sp). He did get inserts from Amazon and he said they seem to really help
Vince went out by the pool today and saw that something – not sure what – bore a hole literally about 2” in diameter in the one pergola. He said he was going to fill it in with this expanding stuff. I wouldn’t be surprised if I wound up being the person who does it
Carol – you know your body better than anyone else, good for you listening to it.
Made hamburgers and hot dogs today since we won’t be able to use the grill much more. I just had a veggie burger
Burger King has some sort of new app they’re using. It looks like it’s more of a scheduling thing. I’ll probably only use it to request a day off. Evidently, it’s supposed to go live on Sept. 30. We shall see….
Lisa – love how you organized all your fabric. And love that pocketbook. You are so talented
Going to go take my walk

Allie ... wanted to add my congratulations on the birth of Delia. And, of course, my condolences on Selina's passing.
Lisa ... beautiful purse!
Lanette ... sorry you're under the weather. I understand that multiple types of crud are making the rounds right now.
Busy week here. My husband decided to "prune" my flowering crabapple tree early in the week. Ended up cutting it down by the time he was done. Hired a stump grinder to come in and take care of the stump. Yesterday went and purchased another flowering crabapple tree. This one, however, is a Prairefire and will have magenta pink flowers in the spring. The old one was a white flowering tree.
Michele ... our pool was closed on Wednesday. I was ready.
Today my husband helped peel apples. This is not his forte by any stretch, but I am overwhelmed with things this week and we have so many apples. He volunteered. We cut enough for 4 pies and made two loaves of Apple Bread. Last night I made Skillet Apple Cider Chicken https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/apple-cider-chicken which, surprisingly, we enjoyed. Always looking for ways to use up apples. I have another tree getting ready to be picked in about two weeks!
My mom continues to do well at her new facility but has had a few "off" days with her dementia. Thursday she asked me when her daughter Beth was coming in. Well that would be me and she was looking at me. Friday, very upset, she told me that she has forgotten how to put on her nightgown at night. Then today I got a call from the facility that she was ok, but that they had an episode of her playing "opossum." Seems the aide went in her room to get her for lunch and couldn't rouse her. My mom was unresponsive to voice, touch, normal means of awakening a person. The nurse came in and found a pulse, but my mom would not awaken. They went so far as to do a sternum rub which is when my mom opened one eye and told them she was tired and they needed to leave her alone! Last I heard they took her to lunch despite her protests. I'll go visit tomorrow. I've been trying to back off with the every day visits.

Beth- your mom being a scamp lol...
My poor brother is about at his wits end..he is trying his best to just go with the flow but Jean is just going off the rails.. drinking and spending recklessly. Her mom was hospitalized and then after she got home she took off to N.H. overnight. Sean thinks to hide something up at the lake house as he has to go up for court tuesday/ wendsday
And she came back down..
She bought herself a car.. He has helped her family for the last 20 yrs and she honestly is going off her rocker..and he doesn't have a pot to p--- in..
All I told him is to write things down and take pictures. She is being belligerent and mean and he is just trying to do what he can to keep the peace.
Went over to see the munchkins this afternoon.held Delia for a bit and Miles got jealous..and tried hitting her.. and Kyle yelled at him..told him he is just jealous of grandma holding the baby.. so I spent time with him for a bit.. he has been the king pin for almost the last 3 yrs so his nose was a little out of joint.
Im still sleeping with the windows open and hearing the crickets chirp.. love that.6 -

Barbara - I keep suggesting he do when he’s having a flare up.
Mooch is doing a great job!
Lisa - the nursing home my mom is in has a quilting club, it might help you with some scraps if you called some of your local ones to see if they could use them.
I remember the Desidereta.
Mmmm now I want lasagna.
Heather - I bet the rucksack will be a huge hit.
Sorry the skirt didn’t make the cut.
Lanette - I hope the crud leaves very soon. It does seem to be going around again.
Rebecca - I hope you and the dog become fast friends.
Michele - Do you grill in the Winter? We do here occasionally on a mild day. Not -30 though.
Allie - sorry to hear your brother’s troubles. I hope Kyle doesn’t start treating Miles differently now.
I had a nice day with Lauryn and Michaela. We went shopping. I set a budget for myself and managed to only go $7 over. That was spent on the kids.
I bought two light sweaters and a pair of pants for work and a new mat for in front of my kitchen sink. Lauryn bought me valances for my birthday.
I’m so happy with the look, I may shorten them a little. I’m giving it a couple days before deciding.
Tomorrow is the crafters garage sale at the local scrapbook store. I am going to see if I can find a couple of stamps for sympathy cards.
Kaitlyn’s friend gave an update and posted on their GoFundMe again yesterday. They got a nice little boost. I hope that when I see her next week she will give me an idea on their plan.
Well I should head to bed.

Still getting more exercise this month than in August!
My husband and I have been chatting and getting ideas about what exactly we want to do with the garden. Although it's spring, the weather isn't great, but we can talk!
The backyard will be the orchard and veggie garden and the front will be a mainly native garden with a dry or wet stream. I may even incorporate a little bridge!
If possible, all the grass (mainly sea wheat-grass or similar) will be gone. No mowing. Or very limited mowing.

Gratitudes:
Saturday-One of the gals at dog group said “You’re getting’ skinny!” I responded “From your mouth, to God’s ear, but alas no.” She said “Just take the compliment!” So I did, with “Thanks.” Think it was cuz I was wearing a lighter hoodie instead of my standard, bulky, plaid, but like she said, I’ll take it!
Friday- actually last Wednesday. Asked Joe to remind me of the things on my car’s needs list as I was getting ready to leave for Coos Bay. He said a few I remembered, then said “your tires are new so no need to change the air in them, but you might ask them to grease the muffler bearings.” As I got out my phone to add that last item, he said, “No. Wait, I’m just funnin’ you.” To which I tensely replied “I don’t have time for humor.” (A sad but true commentary on my character.) When I got home from the VERY long day, he said he was sorry about the muffler bearings joke. I told him “No, please. You were just trying to lighten my stress. It’s one of the things I love about you.” So I’m thankful not just for our improved communication, but for Joe’s love gifts of trying to lighten me up.
Lisa . . . “take kindly the counsel of the years. . . “ really resonated.
Annie understand your security concerns. Any chance you’d post a pic from the back of just your hair?
Carol “concerned about the continued redness, swelling and heat” I hope so! Time to get back to the surgeon’s office for a followup, something doesn’t sound right. ((hugs))
Mo you are a decluttering powerhouse! Love your advice to Carol about the PT.
Lanette sorry the crud caught up with you. Any chance you have some fire cider on hand?
Pip likekwise sorry to hear about the pinched nerve. ((hugs))
Michele congratulations for getting Vince to go through garage, one shelf at a time. You inspire me.
Tracey, yah, Joe doesn’t take my suggestions about his health well either. Is there a male your DH respects that you could use as messenger? Yours to Allie is so insightful.
Machka really enjoyed the Perth pics, the range of architectural styles, the scenery and most especially your and Rowan’s smiles. How I’d love to take a train trip. [sigh]

Going to set off to M&S in a bit. It's going to be raining, so will wear my new trenchcoat and put a small umbrella in my new bag. First time out for both of them. Haven't got my bag sorted yet - that takes a while.
Brilliant job on the bag, Lisa!
I might stay for my favourite lunch of egg and watercress sandwich, and Earl Grey tea. I've told John to make his own if I decide to hang out there. I will also buy something easy for dinner.
I will have a desultory look at some skirts, but I'm not really a skirt person. It's something to do with the shoes, I think, plus chub rub. I currently don't have any skirts that fit me. I do have some dresses. I might have another go at ankle boots, but last time they were a washout. All very uncomfortable.
My friend G has just bought some Apple Airtags, because she's always losing her bags and luggage. Today she's up in London for a Van Gogh exhibition. I'm not quite up to a city day yet, but ...........
John made a great card for Edie. I hope he will wrap her presents while I am out. We have to get them over to the house today.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx5 -
Kim - You asked for an inside look at the bag - I knew it wouldn't be easy to get a pic, but here's what I could get. The inside is fully lined with the same fabrics as the outside, no raw seams, two zipper pockets, one on each long side, lined with gold satin:13

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Teddy wants to go out a second time but he has been barking so much. There's a patch of brush just behind our yard and I'm sure it has critters. We even get an occasional deer, and he goes crazy. Then he won't come back in the house. So he is going to wait at least until it's light out, so my neighbors can sleep.
He's been lethargic lately, and skipped some meals. I thought about taking him to the vet but chances are they wouldn't do anything but say watch him. My baby is just getting old. Except when he is barking at intruders.
Not much going on today. We bought a new string trimmer and I need to assemble it and charge the battery. I will do that while Dad is at church so he won't help. He likes to move the pieces around.
Well, have a great day! May you all be happy, healthy, safe, and free!

She will be a week old tomorrow.
Today,is dishes, laundry and trying to repack the suitcase for the cruise.
Hope everyone has a fantastic day 😊6 -
Dinner yesterday was a hamburger that Kevin ground himself from some tough sirloin topped with relish, baked beans, leftover smoked sausage with sauerkraut. I had veggies and humus for supper. Banana, apple, and Halo orange for fruit. Still feeling yucky so didn’t do much yesterday. I did roll 2 balls of the yarn I have for the afghan, then my hands and tendinitis kicked in so had to stop that. No picture of dinner as you all know what burger, beans, and sausage look like! LOL.

Oh my word! I got back absolutely knackered from my shopping trip!! How can just walking around a store be so tiring!
I did get a refund on my skirt, but bought no clothes as I couldn't find anything that really made my heart sing. Most stuff was sold out in my size anyway, and there were hardly any skirts. ( It's a very small M&S, a lot of it food.)
I did have lunch there, and decided to have a scone, clotted cream, and strawberry jam. Just the one. Haven't had a 'cream tea' in years!
Then I bought some fresh mushroom ravioli for dinner. I'm making a cream of spinach sauce to go with them. Also bought some old favourites from when I was single - prawns in chilli and garlic, and chilli squid. Yummo! They have gone in the freezer. Also Italian fennel sausages for tomorrow 😋.
I was beyond anything when I got home and went out in a nap for an hour and a half.
Poor John had been struggling with the new toilet seat and his back was hurting. He has now got the new one on.
He has just wrapped Edie's presents and now to decide how to get them over to the family.
Ouff! Now relaxing with an aperitif.
Love Heather UK xxxxxx3 -
Good morning ladies,
Happy First Day of Autumn in our hemisphere.
Checking in - I'm doing better. No more temperature, yesterday was horribly drippy nose, slightly sore throat. Today not so many drips, but some sneezing. Coughing a little, not sleeping real well. Thank goodness I'm retired. My appetite is roaring back, lol.
Alex's crew came by on Friday and got a lot done, about 90% of what was on the list. Their trailer was too packed to load more junk and branches. They were going to come back yesterday morning and spray the weeds in my driveway but I looked up the weed killer they use... uh, no. So I'm not going to worry about the weeds this fall (it's not the right time to spray anyhow, spring/early summer is much better! And the bees are still on some of the blooms.) The garden centers sell 20% vinegar which does a good job the few times I used it this year. I need to get a new pump sprayer, I think Home Depot has them in stock. So I'll be ready next spring.
Beth - sorry your mom is getting so confused, glad she's in such a good place. Sounds like you are doing a great job with the extra apples.
Tracey - sounds like you had a lot of fun shopping with Lauryn and Michaela. Nice to get some new clothes for work.
Lisa - lovely purse, you are truly a fiber artist. I admire your brain and sense of design. Awesome job organizing your material - isn't it fun to be able to see what you have.
Machka - isn't it fun to plan the landscaping at your new place. Can't wait to see what you and your DH come up with, I'm sure it will be nice. What do you call the first day of our Autumn? Is it Spring where you live?
Barbara - awesome job on the continued decluttering. Joe has a sense of humor like my DH had. Ask Joe if he thinks the Johnson rod needs to be adjusted.
Rita - Crossing fingers you'll find a place where you can have a sewing/craft room soon. I loved your fingerless mittens, understand how frustrating it is when hands and fingers are painful and don't want to cooperate.
Michele - what determines when you close the pool? Temperature? Falling leaves/debris that might litter it?
Allie - Delia is a doll, so glad she's doing well.
Heather - I love reading about your walks and outings. And the yummy stuff you are able to pick up at the stores. Just like the old days.
That's all I can remember for now, lol.
Weekly check-in reminder for all who are participating, please get info to me by tomorrow noon. TIA

Hello, everyone. My Dh would yell at me to go to bed if he were here. I am having a busy weekend at the hospital, but I missed hearing from you all. I am taking care of the cutest kids and babies. I know I am new here on this site, but I wanted to tell you all that I value each and every one of you. Lisa, I love the poem, and Machka, I appreciate your post of encouragement. Annie- I am getting a Fleetwood Mac T-shirt. I remember when my dad surprised me with the Dreams album. Do not forget to model your new hairdo. Allie- how are you after doing the tedious work of making sure your granddaughter Selina gets cremated as planned? You may need to take a beat and grieve or say goodbye to her. I am praying for your family in this bittersweet time. Lanette, I hope you get better soon. Well, I better go to bed to deal with whatever comes my way tonight.
XO,
Mo4 -
Well I don't know how long it takes for cremation and im hoping she comes home before I leave before I leave for the cruise..I think they will call me when she is ready for the ride home.. and I will pick her up.. I am paying for the cremation..
Yes I will have alone time when I am on the cruise to let my thoughts go..poor sweet baby..
Kyle is out detailing his car,so Tracy is dealing with Miles and Delia..She isn't much of a problem..but trying to keep up with Miles is..
Going to work on the suitcase now..4 -
Deb – I’m glad it wasn’t a grass stain. If it was, I was going to give you a hint how to get it out of the clothing, but since it isn’t, that’s great
Tracey – we usually don’t grill in winter. But I think we just might if the weather cooperates. I think the curtains look just fine. How much shorter were you thinking of going?
So happy to see some of the grass that I planted coming in. This was the grass in the shade-only area. I may have to reseed, but at least some of it is coming in.
Carol – I don’t like the sound of redness and heat. I fully agree with Barbara, you need to have that looked at
Vince still has the plantar fasciatia (sp). I told him the other day that he needs to stretch his calf. It just frustrates me that he doesn’t listen to me, but Dr. Google knows it all and if uTube recommends a stretch, then it’s what should be done. Regardless of the fact that I told him a few days ago that that’s what should be done. But I’m not the one with the pain, so I’m not going to worry.
Speaking of pain: I can still feel something where the “callous” was, but it’s no where near as bad as it was. If he has to dig more out in a month, so be it. But at least I’m not walking weird (making a blister somewhere else). So I’ll just give it time
I spoke with C about the grass. He's going to come next Tues (24th). I didn't realize it, but Vince has a doctor appt at 9 and I have to count so I won't be home until around 12. C said he forgot about the stumps, he talked about covering them with dirt (?). To me, they need to be removed. He also said something about using a chainsaw to get them lower. So we shall see. I'm thinking that I may just go into work early, usually there isn't as much to have to do since I do a lot of Mondays, come home for a bit before I have to leave for the church.
Michele NC2 -
I am here every morning with my breakfast reading about your adventures in family, health, and creativity. Sometimes I read later in the day. You are all so important to me and your friendship and encouragement are sustaining.
Cleanup in the garden is starting now just as the sunflowers and pumpkins are producing so there is the beginning and the end happening at the same time.

Yesterday was a puttering day. We watched sumo wrestling at lunch time, and later watched Navy Midshipmen vs Memphis Tigers. We won 55/45. It was great. I was organizing my pen pals, now down to 9 pals from my original amount of 25 a couple years ago. I weeded out past letters, keeping the most recent ones. I have an accordion file that's worked well. I organized my stickers into my month to month binder with clear pages. No sense rummaging thru flower stickers to find my Halloween ones! I closed my eating window at 9 pm on Friday night to waiting until our ramen outing was a challenge! Son was playing with his VR system meeting up on Star Wars Galaxies with online friends, so our outing wasn't until 5 pm. That put me at 20 hours fasting. I was eating some frig pickled cucumbers at 4:45! Figured s good thing to open with. By the time we ate it was more toward 6:30 pm. I had the tonkatsu ramen with 3 gyoza, some edamame, and a lemon sparkling Pellegrino. We were seated by where they sell some items and I saw a nice sweatjacket. Its now my Christmas present from son.💖.
We had a nice time, chatting about everything under the sun.
The long drive there and back made for pleasant conversation, music listening and nice quiet moments too.
We stopped at an Asian market and I got bread for French toast for today, ramen noodles plus lots of other nice Japanese treats. A yummy strawberry cream Mochi caught my eye, plus some little Asian style cheesecakes. The only bummer is that my receipt showed she had ran the cheesecakes thru 3 times instead of just the 2 I bought. Also she showed I bought 2 bags of crunchy chips but I had only bought one. Frustrating!
I have been going to bed an hour or two later than I normally would, son and I either watching anime, or watching funny videos. My body is feeling it, but he's only home a week more then he's gone for a couple years. So I am lapping up all the time I can get, I can rest at my cousins, and be lazy.

Lisa ~ The bag is lovely. Sounds like it was quite a struggle to get it the way you wanted, but, I'm sure it will get easier as you go along.
Lanette ~ Glad you are feeling better! Hay fever season around here has given me fits. I really thought I might have Covid but I am sure it is allergies and house dust.
Annie ~ I hope your pup peps up! We love our pets so much and as they age it is hard on them and on us owners.
Michele ~ Glad your foot is feeling better. Hope the dr can finish the job in a month.
Beth ~ I looked up the apple cider chicken recipe. I don't think I will make it because my DH would not like all the spices. Hope your mom will continue to adjust to her new surroundings and sorry she forgot your name. When I visited my mom two weeks before she passed, I later realized that she had no idea who I was and was scared of me.
Rebecca ~ So glad your are enjoying your son's visit. And, the food y'all are eating sounds great.
I am tired. I have spent the last 3 days going through a large plastic box of my stored away vintage jewelry. I sold a lot on eBay and Etsy before the Pandemic but business dried up during the years we were all afraid to go out. No more sales or thrift store shopping. I must admit I have had fun researching the items in the box and find that many are worth more than I would have imagined. I probably won't try to sell any of them right now due to the time and work it takes and the expense of supplies.
Thanks for the concern over the swelling and redness of my replaced knee leg. I spent an hour walking around Walmart yesterday grocery shopping and am paying for it today. Put my compression knee high on and am icing.

Michelle- when Vince wakes up have him take a frozen wster bottle and he can sit and roll his effected foot with it for about 20 minutes.. and if needed buy a sling for at night that keeps your foot taught
And if that doesn't help..I went to the podiatrist and had cortisone shots in my heel.. between it all ,it helped alot.
Well instead of suitcase I took a nap, woke up a bit dizzy.. figured I was a bit hypoglycemic so went and got something to eat,and was bouncing of the walls..sheesh..
Im feeling better now.
