Jake goes to the hospital today for his angiogram. His ride comes at 9 and he'll be gone all day (and possibly overnight). Since I can't leave the dogs alone for more than a few minutes at a time, it limits what I can do, but since the weather will be nice, Annie and I can go outside in the yard and I can leave her inside the fence for 10-15 minutes at a time while I work on a project either in the garage or outside the fence. Just like Heather, I've planned some meals for me that Jake wouldn't eat.
Our freezer is full of goodies. We buy boneless, skinless chicken thighs at Costco and use them to make big batches of favorites in the slow cooker, then freeze it in pint jars which are just right for one meal for us. Right now we have 4 jars of chicken with coconut milk and peanut butter, 5 jars of chicken with Jake's special barbecue sauce, and 6 jars of chicken mole. The jars will defrost in the fridge overnight so it's easy to have one ready for the next day's lunch which is our big meal (the one meal a day that I fix for both of us..
It's colder here in the mornings so I turned on the furnace and Jake built a fire in the woodstove and put Annie's sweater on her. I added a knitted wool scarf to my morning dog walking outfit.

Talked to my mom yesterday and she sounds a lot better, but she is still weak and can only walk from her bed to the bathroom at rehab. Her doctor will see her today to talk to her about what’s next. Glad my sister is there to take charge and help make decisions for her.
DH and Brownie are the same so far.
Dinner yesterday was a leftover chicken thigh, salad with pickled beets, pickled asparagus and a sour cream dressing DH made, corn on the cob, macaroni shells with leftover tomato sauce. Pear for desert. Banana for breakfast. Not healthy supper of popcorn and wine.Time for me to focus more on serving size. They have slowly gotten bigger. It’s habit not need as I was never hungry with the smaller servings. All pickled stuff was made by DH.

woke up coughing/wheezing again this morning- pretty congested- just a cold(son and his girlfriend had it a week or so ago so guessing it is what they had). Skipping zumba tonight. Will just stay home and take it easy this evening.
I have a mom who is supposed to come and pick up our large Little Tikes climbing structure- Lets if this one follows through- the last few said they wanted but canceled after we set up a time. Want it off the deck- it was great when I had all the daycare kids but now with just Ezie and she is too big for it really(and only here a few hours a week), I would love the space back.
Dh and I finished putting the new catio together yesterday. Now we are waiting for the one stray cat that we caught, had fixed to finish healing from his fight wounds at our friends house. He will no longer be able to wander the neighborhood and fight. We will be catching the other stray/feral(mom to the triplets and to the other two kittens we caught)-she is fixed now and will go in the catio with the boy. Safe and secure and a nice comfy warm place to stay in- no more searching for a place to sleep and stay warm.
It is not connected to the main catio but is right next to it. If they are hissy, we can cover the end of it so they don't see each other(may do that in the beginning anyways.)
DH is dropping me off at Black Friday before he goes to his mom's so I get extra time to look. We went there yesterday- some things looked good but $2 good but not $4 good -haha- Hopefully they still have the cat food(they did last week)- $2 a box when Amazon sells it for $25!! Spoiled cats won't be getting that when we run out. We need to do some grocery shopping for his mom then coming home.
Need to clean both fridges out today. We are going up to the veggie/fruit stand tomorrow-first time this season- so need room in the fridges.
If I feel up to it, I also need to clean out the big litter box in the catio(Little Tikes playhouse that we use as their outside litter box-using the pine pellets). They use that thing so much BUT if I put pine pellets in one of the litter boxes in my bathroom with the other boxes, they won't use it. Don't understand that one.

Frustrating time about the kids today
My son texted to pick up today instead of tomorrow, so I said yes, and changed the evening meal to accommodate. Then he said Edie had her tutor after cello, so he would bring John back early. It wasn't worth me getting an Uber for twenty minutes with Bea. So I stayed at home and could have cooked the original meal after all. Never mind. The quick meal was delicious.
Changed the bed linen. Did my writing. Washed hair. It will be strange not picking up Bea tomorrow. We won't know what day it is!
I miss them so much when I don't see them.
Love to all. Heather UK xxxxxx5 -
MFP Weekly Check-In for September 30, 2024
Rita in Roswell, NM - Down 1/2 pound from last week. All time high: 210 all-time low since on MFP 145 pound. Current weight: 173.4 pounds. I’m calling it good!
Sue in WA State - Weight has stayed the same this week. I have done well on exercise but pulmonologist wants me to start 2 minute walks. I still get very short of breath very quickly. I have been a little over on calories every day this past week. Need to work on eating fewer snacks. I will plan to do three 2 minute walks each day in addition to my other exercise.
Barbara on the Southern Oregon Coast - WT blipped up to 131.2 from last Sunday's 130.5 but weekly average good at 130.5.- No idea about sugar, CI<CO, suspect not enough AF days ;{..
- Steps stank due rib.
- Back to line dancing last week. This week hope to add BB&B and dog group, PT and Zumba perhaps next week.
Debbie in Napa Valley CA - 148.4- gained 1/4 of a pound
Lanette SW WA State – weight staying within range – has been within half a pound of 158 for the past month and down a total of 8+ pounds since March of this year. Cutting out sugar and “white carbs” and eating nuts for snacks is working. This is easy and sustainable for me.

Barbie - hope Jake's test proves fruitful and his ride to the appointment was pleasant. Enjoy your "Barbie time."
Rita - your dinner last night looked great. Glad your mom is doing better, and your DH and Brownie are hanging in there!
Debbie - hope you get over the cold quickly. Sure 'tis the season for this stuff. Crossing fingers the Little Tykes is on its way to a new home and you have your deck back.
Tina - sorry to hear about your eye, the surgery to remove the cyst doesn't sound like fun. Hope the CBD treatment works out for you.
Heather - I was going to comment earlier how nice your grands looked in their matching biking outfits. Involvement with sports takes a lot of parent time, I'm sure, but what a neat way for kids to be active, and learn skills they can use all of their lives.
I'm working on notes to take along when I see Dr. D the foot doctor tomorrow morning. Maybe I should keep it simple. "What can we do that's non surgical to get my toes realigned so they aren't painful anymore?" It might be as simple as doing calf and hamstring stretches four times a day. My appointment is at 7:50 AM, so maybe I'll actually see him by 8:30.
It's a beautiful sunny and chilly afternoon here.

Just heard from Michele- she is ok- power was out for a while, internet out for a lot longer.12

I agree I would rather stay in a hotel where I can relax and be myself. When someone comes to visit I am stressed out until they leave. Notice the older I get the worse it gets.
Tina--Prayer your eye gets better soon and without surgery. Any thing close to my eye scares me.
Barbie--Saying a prayer for Jake's appointment goes well and you enjoy your quite time.
They are working on the shower. They have the old unit out and working on putting the new one in. Doesn't sound like they will be done today. So far the pictures I have seen look promising. Be glad when it is done.

Hey, kids...
Been working on my first labeled bag - I really, REALLY wanted to put a zipper in the top, and it REALLY didn't want to have one. I ended up giving up and ripping it out last night. You may notice on the inner view that it has a snap. Some things just aren't worth it. I had to go in to get blood drawn for the hemotologist this morning, so I stopped and got some strong magnetic clasps at Joann. Happy with it, in the end. It was meant to be a mockup for a very nice bag, and ended up being a pretty good bag on its own. Reasonably pleased with it.
Even more pleased with the fact that Kim facilitated getting the labels in for me in just about a week! In all honesty, am more pleased with the label than I am with the bag... I'm seldom pleased with anything I create at the time of the making. But I'm really pleased with how the labels look. Makes doing this seem like I really mean it, somehow.
My brain is just blasted at the moment from going back and forth with this one, but in the end, I know now what will work for the similar bags I want to make. Each will be unique, but they'll be similar to each other, and similar in shape to this one. I also know that I will not be making a welt pocket out of satin again. It can't hold its shape, even with interfacing. I'll use the style, but satin pockets will have to have a zipper to keep them in good shape inside a bag.
Right this moment, I'm just making scrunchies for sale at the fair, a few in Christmas colors and about to do more in the colors for the local schools. They don't require much brain power, and make up really fast. Satisfying and non-draining. Designing and building are emotionally draining, in ways I didn't really expect!
Washer's coming in tomorrow, so will just work on projects until they get here with that.
Barbie - Hope the time alone is lovely and that Jake's time away has good results.
Michele - I continue to check in to see if you're OK. Let us know when you can.
Lanette - Hope there's some relief to be had with the podiatrist. I have a bunion that is continuing to get a bit worse every year, so I'll be interested to find out if there's something that works without surgery.
Tina - Sorry about the issues with the stye, sounds kinda awful. Hope the CBD helps.
Heather - Got to talk to my youngest grands this morning, as they both were in the truck with their mama at 7:30 their time. I sure miss 'em, and I love seeing how much you've been able to be part of your grands' lives.
Vicki - So hoping you've finally got the right person to give you a break. You deserve it!
Spoke to my sis first thing this morning, then my daughter and the grands, then Corey for his lunchtime call, so I feel filled up today with love and family. Hope everyone had a good Monday.
Love,

Lisa ~ Great job on the handbags and know the scrunchies will be a hit.
Vicki ~ Glad your new help is working out.
Tracey ~ You living room area looks great with the new sofa. You are a whiz at decorating your home.
So glad to hear that Michelle is safe! The news messages about the damage near Ashville are just plain scary.
Barbie ~ Hope Jake gets positive news/results and know that it must be hard on you having him gone.
Really had a somewhat difficult day! For some crazy reason, my PC screen decided to flicker with a bouncing array of colors. After multiple tries of unplugging (my knee didn't like that at all), restarting it, and moving the hook ups to different places, I gave up. Then I finally looked up what could be wrong on my phone and it said there must be an app causing it. Ended up deleting all the Avast add ons and voila it started working normally. Now I have downloaded Total AV and just hope it continues to work well.

Cut the walk short by a mile so we can do the 7 mile run after and not get home too late. I was happy with my running pace. After that went to pick up an insta pot so we can keep it in the trailer so we can make the rice over there if we run low (kirby makes Chispa and Lucy’s dog food). Got if from someone who posted it on OfferUp for $35, used once. Took yogi to get an allergy shot yesterday, that ain’t cheap. Got another donation from a family member. $279.09 to go…, getting close!

I think I’ve recovered from the house guests. It takes me a long time. I guess it’s sort of like jet lag. Takes me 3 hours to recover for every one hour they’re here.
I still cannot lose an ounce of weight. Tomorrow I will start a sort of extreme 3 day eating plan to see if it’ll jump start that. Basically, I’ll eat unseasoned chicken and vegetables for 3 days.
I’m following along and sending virtual good wishes and hugs to all of you for your successes and struggles.
Tina in CA
I completely understand about the house guests! I won't stay with someone or have anyone stay with me for more than a night. And those times occur rarely. Most of the time I would much rather stay in a hotel than with someone
Chicken and vegetables is extreme?
M in Oz
Yes the diet is extreme, but just for 3 days. I can also eat ground Turkey or I just read the plan was updated to also include lean beef. But, I’ll stick to poultry for now. Don’t need a bunch of groceries taking up freezer space. I can also use seasonings EXCEPT salt and sugar.
I read this really helps. But, it likely wasn’t created with post-menopausal women in mind. I am just trying to see if it’ll kick start some loss.
I’d much rather longer term guests stay in a hotel too. Most of our guests stay 3 nights or less. That’s ok. Next time, I’ll probably schedule a trip during that time. I cannot sanely do it again.3 -
Barbara-I don’t really see a need to wait on the extreme plan. The eye doesn’t hurt or bother me. It’s just ugly.

Happy Monday, everyone;
Last night was challenging. I was able to put out the fires before morning. The papers they used for the report to get everything in were so tiny. I made a couple of mistakes, but I tried. I made one baby smile in delight and revived a little one. Being in charge at work is not my favorite, but doing it with a supportive staff is terrific. My heart and prayers go out to the people in North Carolina. I hope we hear from Michelle soon.
Allie: I hope you can get treated entirely for the UTI before your cruise. Delia is a beautiful baby. Thank you for sharing the pictures. I love Miles in his hat; he looks pretty dapper in it. I love seeing what a great big brother he is.
Rita, The Pescoe flowers growing on each side of the stream are picturesque. One of your meals has me craving a salad with blue cheese dressing. The corn looks good, too.
Lisa, the label bags are so cute! Did you have a cricket machine, too?
Debbie, I grew up with Miracle Whip and could not stand it anymore. I told my dad not to put it on my sandwiches. We never purchased it as an adult, and my kids never tasted it—thumbs down for Miracle Whip in my household.
Tina- Styes are a pain in the tush. I had a teenage patient who was a live-in with one, and we tried everything except CBD oil. I had tea bags on it, but there were no results. It stayed in her eye, and then they removed it.
The Corner Market sells the best-smoked chicken, and I share the dark meat with Rose. I also use it for my salads, quesadillas, and soups. I was wondering where I could get one in Chicago. Maybe Walmart or Sam's Club. DH says Rose's days for chicken are numbered.
I am so tired. I need to push myself to work out. I have doctor's appointments tomorrow and plan to go to the pool afterward. Easier said than done. Enjoy your night, beautiful ladies.
Love,
Mo

Chicken and vegetables is more or less what I normally eat. 😀
Sometimes I replace the chicken with chickpeas.

No, I don't (one of the few crafts I've actually resisted! ). I know Tracey does, and makes T-shirts etc., with hers. Kim in California, from this thread, has her own embroidery business, and had the hookup that works with logos on cloth labels. She had me take my photo of the sig I use on my books and my art, which I scrawled on a Post-it note, and the company she works with transformed it into embroidery on a cloth-framed label, and they shipped it straight to me--half of them I got with a black background, and half with dark gray. Couldn't be happier with them!8 -
I have been preoccupied with the dogs and Jake's angiogram so I almost forgot that it's the day to post the new thread. Jake called after the procedure and all went well. They didn't do anything radical and he'll be ready to be picked up in about two hours. The friend who is going to pick him up is going to bring him some favorites from Taco Time.
