Sandy, what good news; such relief. I'm so happy for you.

Lana, I've introduced beans back to my diet. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed them and they were a big part of my diet when I lost weight before. Maybe lentils. I don't have a hankering for them so maybe not.

It's raining here again so I'm not going out this morning. I'll see if it stops. I am going back to work half days next week—the last few days. It won't be much. I know even half days will be hard! We start so early; we have to clock in by 6:45 and release is 12:30. And I'm still about half strength. It will be ok, though.

My sons are home and I'm so glad to see them.

    TTFN.

    Hey all!!

I made it through camping without over eating but I may have over drank a bit. I got 10000 steps everyday:) I didn't golf the best but it was our first time out this year. I had a hard time going back to regular life today but I made myself workout and go for a walk this morning even though everything in me wanted not to, in the past i would have pushed it to Monday and then possibly not go back to it. I only gained 2 lbs which I'm hoping will be gone by Monday.

I hope everyone is having a good week, I need to go back and read some posts:)

    Have a great evening!!

    Good Evening!

I started a post earlier and forgot to save it, so trying again.

Maureen, thank you! And speaking of chick peas, I heard a report on the news about them….helps with cholesterol and weight management. I put them in my salads.

Lana, thanks! I can't wait for it to heal now. I don't even know what the one in my back looks like. I had the SO change that bandage for me.

SO and I made meatballs this afternoon....came out great! I made sure I had a snack of raw baby carrots so I wouldn't eat 2 helpings. Kitchen is halfway cleaned up....ran out of room in the dishwasher. But the leftovers are put away.

A new week of the weight loss challenge started today....really want to get to 169 this time.

    Phillies lost.....bleah!

Good morning, all, and welcome back, Stef. Sounds like a pretty good trip overall!

We had rain all day yesterday! I took the day off from walking. I'm doing small exercises when I get up for a couple minutes each hour and yesterday I noticed small progress on . . . something. I can't even remember what right now, ha. But it was nice to notice; it's only been a few days.

My PT is ready to release me; one more "let's just check in, just in case." I haven't even gone 8 weeks yet. And I haven't done any home exercises; just walking, and bending and extending in my own way when I feel like it—which hasn't been much. I think most of the progress comes from being up and about. I can tell from what PT says, though, and from the others I see, that most folks getting the surgery are not up and about much, so they really do need the home exercises and I hope they do them. It makes a world of difference.

I realized yesterday that the reason I don't feel "well" yet is that I don't feel strong. My whole adult life, I've felt strong b/c I've always been a runner or done other sports (gosh, do I miss soccer!). And the muscle strength in my legs has just all but evaporated. I used to be able to feel my quad muscle under about .25 inches of fat. Now it's a deeper layer and everything requires so much more effort. I had all that muscle a year ago in July before my first surgery, so I can get it back—it's not age, that's for sure. And I know I will. I know how to do this.

    Happy Fri-yay!

    It's National 🍩 Day....guess what I WON'T be eating?

Maureen, you are facing constant challenges from your body. I can imagine that's not easy. But your determination will carry you. You're right....you can do it.

Finally made the meatballs yesterday.. 47 of them. Had a nice dinner with my "sous chef" and gave him a few to take home. Tonight will be a small steak and veggies.

    Till tomorrow...

    Good morning all~

Sandy - Yum! Homemade meatballs? Sounds wonderful 😋

Stef - welcome back from camping - you did well with all that activity!

Maureen - Can you get to a Trader Joe's? I love their lentils. They are in the produce section in a vacuum sealed package in a box.

    Image 6-7-25 at 05.47.jpeg

They are tasty enough on their own with a drizzle of salad dressing, but I usually add them to salads to get the protein and fiber boost.

OK, time to get going 🏃🏼‍♀️‍➡️

Sandy and Lana, thanks for the encouragement. I needed it today. I didn't think I was going to make it home! Of course I did. And I'm glad I made the effort. It's definitely making the turn from spring to summer here. Hotter and more humid. I need to get out a bit earlier.

Lana, I'll have to make a trip to try those lentils. If I like them, I can stock up; I have a small freezer. Thanks for the tip.

    Have a good weekend, everyone.

    Howdy, all!

Stef, that camping trip sounds like it was the best! And 10,000 steps a day is fantastic!

Maureen, HEY...that's what we're all here for! We all need the encouragement. 🙂

Lana, thanks! Have a great day!

My Midea a/c unit has been recalled for danger of mold developing on the inside. I can't return it, nor can I repair it on my own, but they do offer the option of sending a tech to your residence to implement a fix, so I am opting for that. But with all the units that were sold, it will probably take awhile before they take care of everyone. I love the a/c...it cools my apartment and it's more economical than my central air. So for now, I am running it because I have no real choice. But I don't see any mold in it at the moment.

Had an apple for breaky....may have a salad for lunch. Dinner will be the small steak and veggies I didn't have the other day.

    A yucky weekend....rain...gloomy.

Sandy - I hope that the tech who comes to service your air conditioner is good eye candy, as Sara would say. Be sure to let us know if you have enticed him to quit his job and join our Cabana Boys! 🌴

Maureen, yes the jungle humidity of summer is creeping upon us. The only time to walk with any comfort is in the morning.

Lana, I was out by 7:30. Early for me lately, but it will be earlier still once summer is really here. I don't mind the humidity as much as the heat once the sun is up—the sunlight is beautiful from under the trees, but I don't want to be in it! I like the shade :) I was MUCH less exhausted today, too, and that was nice.

I had an unexpected treat last night, and still showed a small deficit. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks of consistently logging and staying below maintenance calories. 3 days back and work and then summer break.

I am so worried about Sara.

    Good Evening…hope y'all had a nice weekend!

Lana...LOL! I will take pics if he is cute enough. 😉

Maureen, WTG! You definitely sound determined...keep on, girl!

Where are the rest of you ladies?? Give us a shout out!

My wound appears to be healing, but it's strange. Likely because I've never had a piece of my skin sliced off before.

I tried vacuuming my aquarium with the new vacuum. But I didn't realize that the silly thing would suck up the sand as well as the dirt...the thing got clogged and seized up. I was SO upset....thought I broke it. I have been shaking the sand out off and on as impeller dries out and it did start up again, but I just ordered a special attachment that filters out the sand so it won't clog the vacuum again. One of my snails died 😟 but the other one, Flipper is fine and happily moving around the glass. Not sure what happened to Shyly.

Was able to turn off the a/c today and open up the windows. Phillies lost.....AGAIN!! 😠

    Have a restful evening!

Lana, this weather will make you sleepy!

I went into work today and it was fine. Up at 4:50; not too bad! I'll crash early tonight, I'm sure! I woke up a LOT and I think I was worried I wouldn't hear my alarm. But no problem—I woke up 10 minutes before it was set to go off.

I'm down 10 lbs to 210 since I started logging around May 19. That big first week, and 2 lbs/week the past 2 weeks. I know it won't keep being so much. I hope I can keep going 2 lbs/week for the next 5 weeks to get to 200, and after that, I won't care as much if it slows down. Getting under 200 will be such a boost.

I was hoping to get in a walk once it was closer to sunset, but that required a nap once I got home and I just wasn't quite able to—too wound up, I think, from being back at work. By tomorrow I should be totally exhausted. I'm running on pure nerves right now!

    Have a lovely evening, all.

Lana, sorry about the 😴. Hope you're feeling better now.

Maureen , you are doing great! Here's to Onederland...you'll get there!

Did some crocheting today to take my mind off the snackies. Food was good today. No snacking tonight either. Tomorrow is another baseball game so I am likely to splurge a bit.

I am having a digestive issue and it seemed to surface when I started taking the calcium and vitamin D so I am going to stop those temporarily and see if things improve.

Looks like the Phils are going to lose another one. 😭

    🎶Hello, HELLO, HELLO!🎶.......hello.

Lana, it will only be temporary. I want to see if they are the culprit. If so, I will contact my doc and see if there is something I can do. I have osteopenia....don't want to get worse.

Thanks, Maureen! Feeling better today...I'll see if that continues.

Feeling more upbeat today....may be because its game day and the SO is taking me instead of my brother, so I won't be rushed... my brother has no patience.

My wound is healing...getting smaller. Funny....its healing from the outside in instead of all at once. I had to take the bandage off my back but I can't replace it myself. Hopefully that spot is healing as well.

I voted today. Will find out when I get home how it turned out. Its anybody's guess at this point.

I hope all our MIA's here are ok.

Good morning. I'm really tired now. 3 days back at work, knee not elevated, etc. It has not been at all difficult; I'm just still weak. It's a half-day for staff today and tomorrow (b/c graduation requirements involve after-hour expectations for rehearsals, etc), so I will get home early enough to rest today.

I hope everyone is doing ok. Take care of yourselves.

    Good Late Morning!

Challenge week ended today and I finished a little high. I was expecting it, though. I am still in the 160's and that's a win for me. A walk is planned for later this afternoon....me, doggie and the SO.

Breakfast was a couple scrambled eggs and some milk to take pills with. I might just have cottage cheese and a few crackers for lunch. Dinner will be stuffed chicken with broccoli.

If you come by today, hope you're having a nice hump day!

I went in super early and did my half day. Had to wait until it was almost over before anyone else even came in, and then it wasn't any of the people I needed to see! Oh, well. I tried! :)

I know my protein intake has been lacking, so I decided to do it "all at once:" a super shake. 3 scoops of protein powder in some unsweetened almond milk. Stirred, not blended. 60 g of protein and I liked the taste.

I'm up to 2.3 miles on my morning walk and getting up and out early, so it's cooler, has really helped. I'm not anywhere near so tired. Duh. Also, I have been released from physical therapy. Now I have to get my sorry butt to the gym. Or not. I'm doing my home exercises during my hourly "get up and move" time; we will see how that goes this summer.

Good morning. It's pouring outside. I will go to the gym and walk inside. I don't mind running in the rain—in fact, I love it. But walking? Nah. Go figure.

I'm hoping it's nice tomorrow. And Sunday, I'll drive to Georgia to vacation with some family at a house on a lake. I still have scabs from my surgery on 4/14, so I can't go in the water unless we make a big to-do about water-proofing the wound area. I'm not sure it's worth it. We will see. My sister is a Nurse Practitioner and will bring something in case I want to try.

I'm planning to take my food scale, blender, and protein powder. No point in going off program on this vacation. It won't be fancy food. I'll have at least one brat, maybe a hamburger. And plan them into my calories. The chips will be tempting, so I'll take baby carrots and bell peppers to gnaw on.

    TTFN.

Maureen - maybe you can get out on the water in a canoe or rowboat? Your sister may bring some waterproof bandages/tape. We used to use that medical stuff for the sound equipment dry on sweaty actors.

    Happy Friday!

Maureen, you are better than me. Not sure I could be that disciplined on a vacation. And I have been using waterproof bandages on my wound....seem to be working. Have fun!

Supposed to be another yucky weekend here. Have to check on the bro's house while they are down the shore for the next couple days. Started working on my granddaughter's afghan again. And I found a small print of a Wyeth painting I bought at the Brandywine museum awhile back. I have a frame...just need glass. Will probably order a cheap frame just for the glass.…its actually cheaper than buying a piece of glass.

Lazy day so far....need to get a shower. TTFN...

I couldn't sleep for long enough last night. Maybe I should take a shower and go to Lowes? I can always abort the mission if the place is too crazy on a Saturday.

Sandy, I'm still debating the vacation plan. It sounded good at the time, but as it gets closer I'm wondering if I really care. On the other hand, I'll probably feel awful if I eat a bunch of stuff I haven't been eating—even a brat and hamburger in a week will make me suffer some. I plan to take what I need to stay on track and not beat myself up if I don't, I guess!

Lana, you are really dropping weight lately. Good for you. Our weather this morning was absolutely gorgeous. I enjoyed a COOL BREEZE on my morning walk! Hot and humid are already back, not 1.5 hours after I got home, but hey, I'll take what I can get! I know what you mean about the humidity and bugs—I get a layer of sweat and gnats literally drowned if they land on me! :) On another note, have you heard from Sara?

I'm desperate for a new book series to read or TV series to watch. I love British Detective series but couldn't get into episode 1 of some newer ones from the past year or two; maybe I'll try again. And I've started some seriously awful books lately. Maybe I'll go back and read all of Trollope, or Zane Grey (Gray? I can't remember). I discovered Zane Grey on the bookmobile when I was about 12? It was hotter than hell and I had never even heard of a bookmobile, and it pulled up just around a corner from our house. I was so excited. And there was—-WILDFIRE! I tore through as many of his novels as I could get my hands on that summer. A bit racy for a 12 year old, but not too much. And so many horses!! and heroes! And women who were brave! (always beautiful and rescued, of course, but still . . .)

    Well, that's all for now!

    Maureen
