Challenges / Badges logging problem
I'm wondering if someone can explain what I'm doing wrong here? My steps are counted in the Challenges, but when I try to enter a hiking or walking challenge, nothing registers! I should have three more Badges this week, but the count is showing zero and I can't figure out why - any ideas please? I realise it's probably my…

Stretching causing soreness?
Have any of you specifically had the issue of overstretching and as a result of the stretching alone (no exercise) felt sore for a couple of days after? (The stiffness is relieved each day by additional stretching.) I just can't figure out why else my legs would suddenly be sore when I haven't done much with them…

Cancer and Fitness
I know this is a different topic, but I wanted to know if anyone is undergoing chemotherapy and continuing to stay fit. In 2019, when I retired, I joined MFP to track my weight loss. I am 65 years old and successfully lost 70 lbs (220 lbs to 150). I was intermittent fasting and exercising. I gave myself three years to…

Lose circa 2.5 stone in 5 months...
This is the first post of what will be a blog about my commitment to getting to 85/86kg by 22nd December. I have 2 kids and a fairly intense job that have affected my ability to exercise and eat well over the past years but it's time to try to draw a line in the sand. I have successfully had serious health pushes in the…

Critique Our City Guides
Hey guys, long time lurker here, recently we launched a site about gyms in hundreds of the biggest cities in English speaking countries. We did a ton of research and think our guides are pretty good, but we could use some more 'local' feedback. In particular we would like to know about any locally owned spots we may have…

Newbie needs suggestions for fitness trackers
Hi All - I've finally given into wanting to get a wearable fitness tracker. I want one mainly to track calories burning, heart rate and distance for cycling. I'd like my data to integrate/sync as well with map and other fitness apps. I'm also don't want to spend too much at this point. Any suggestions please?

Getting Started - Advice Needed for those with Joint Replacements
Hi folks - I am looking for some advice on how to get started exercising. I am 39 and have had both of my hips replaced in the past year. I've also had 3 discectomies along the way. All of that to say, I'm not sure I should jump in and max out on squats right off the bat. Can you provide some pointers of how to get started…

Fitness Tips and Exercise
Fitness Tip: mentally be strong I’ve recently started the Army Fitness Test because why not, and I’ve been really pushing myself through these workouts. I was doing the overhead press and I could feel my body fatigue and I wanted to stop because I was “uncomfortable”. Instead, I kept pushing myself through the reps and I…

Is Running After Not Running Possible?
Despite being able to jog in place on a rebounder, climb stairs and race walk, it's been more than a decade since I've actually been able to run. I had double hip replacements in 2015 and despite having good overall flexibility, still descend stairs like Herman Munster. Does running involve a different set of muscles than…

Struggling but not stiff
I've been doing some basic weight lifting. I really struggle to lift higher weights but then the next weight lower is always too low so I have to do a million reps. Regardless, I don't feel sore the next day and don't know if I'm gaining any muscle. My lowest increments are about a pound per hand. Also, when you're lifting…

Anyone going through Chemo and trying to ease back in to working out?
I just finished my last chemo treatment last week. I would like to begin working out again but not sure when or what to do. My strength and stamina are very low. Any thoughts from people who have went through it?

2 questions: stretching: Not quite holding a stretch but not bouncing either
Not Holding. I've heard that bouncing in a stretch is more likely to cause injury than holding it. I kind of move a cm or two in and out of the stretch. It's just really uncomfortable to hold it without pretty frequent adjustment. (Ex. Straightening and slightly bending the leg I'm reaching for.) Is that okay? Am I getting…

Which is better?
I exercise daily on a stationary bike that also gives out readings of calories expended vs. the time factor. For example, I rode 30 minutes today, and the reading was 277 calories. But if I go to the MFP exercise page and enter 30 minutes for stationary biking, it reads out as more than 400 calories. That's a pretty big…

Samsung Health
Despite saying it's synced, I keep having to manually input my estimated excercise based on my 7.5 hour shift, only sitting down for 10 minites and my SH app tracking my steps where mfp doesn't. I've disconnected the app, reconnected etc. SH itself I have no complaints about, but it's getting very annoying that I have to…
