Is it possible for me to build a good body?
Have never exercised before, planning to start it right away, also take whey protein. But there is a doubt in my mind, is it possible for the body type I have right now to gain good weight (muscle) without looking bad. I mean, my face structure and body gonna sync properly right? I mean not look odd. I am a very thin guy.…

Body Comp Using Smart Scale
Hey all, So I haven’t been using a scale for the past year and a half because to me, it was useless in my mission to to healthy, fast, and strong. Numbers went out the window. I’ve always been a runner but in the past several years, I run about 20-30 miles on average a week because I love it. I started increasing my weight…

Need to understand how long to cycle
Ok guys (and girls), I would like some help with something. I understand to get decent gains you have to eat a surplus of calories. Right now I am in a deficit to lose and have about 10 more pounds to go. When I begin to eat a surplus, is there a length of time you stay on that? Example 8 weeks deficit, 10 weeks gaining…

Resistance bands superior to weights
Ok so the title was clickbait, but I've been experimenting with these "super bands" and they're just awesome! I can do every exercise I could do at the gym in the comfort of my own home. It's cheaper than gym memberships or conventional equipment, you can get some super heavy ones so theres no saying that they're too…

Starting Lyle McDonald's Ultimatte Diet 2.0 question
Good afternoon! I am really pumped to begin Lyle McDonald's Ultimate Diet 2.0 come August 1. However, I know that the recommended body fat percentage to start this program is 15% . I am a male and not at 15%.....more like 20% - 22%! Does it make sense to start that program (UD2.0) of does it make sense to get down to the…

Muscle Gained During A "Bulk"?
I'm not trying to gain weight or do body building, but it seems like most of the bulking information goes in this section. I decided this would be the best place to post this. Over the past 18 months or so, I’ve gone through an accidental bulk of about 20lbs. I had previously lost 125lbs and attempted to go into a…

Why am I fluctuating ?!
So,my goal is to gain 1-2 lbs per week. I’m happy with 1 lb but 2 is even better! I was making shakes twice a day, but life gets in the way sometimes so I make up for my night time shake with 2 ensure plus sometimes. (Just easier). It’s a lot of calories short from my shake, but still reaching my daily calorie goal by a…

Proper maintenence weight?
I posted this over in general, but it got bumped to the bottom of the page pretty quick and no one is even viewing it anymore. Looking back, that was probably the wrong place to post it - anyways, this is just a copy and paste. Recently, I've been floating the idea of changing my target wieght. I'm a 6'1 male, and I know…

Cutting while injured
Hey all I started a planned 7 week cut just over 2 weeks ago. It was going well, I was keeping protein high, my strength hasn't suffered yet, and after 1 week I wasn't cranky all the time. Then today I saw a physio about some wrist issues I've been having, and she asked that I stopped strength training using my hands for…

Does protein get cooked out of extra lean beef?
So as of lately I've been making my own homemade burgers. The extra lean beef I buy is 42g of protein and 20g of fat for 200g. That's raw I think because it doesn't say cooked on the package. But when I cook the burger it shrinks down to 115g so I'm kind of wondering if I'm still getting the 42g of protein. Thanks in…

Working out same muscle multiple times during a workout
Question for lifters: I typically wear out whatever muscle I'm working out on the first exercise for it during a gym session. Example: I usually start out with a bench press which hits my triceps pretty good. After that, trying pull-downs or dips are pretty ineffective. Should I be benching less so I have more stamina for…

Just turned 61 (before and after with pic)
Yeah, okay, I know I'm not a giant muscle guy - but lifting has helped me a lot and I think I've come a long way. Just turned 61 and wanted to post my pic for two reasons... 1) I want a pat on the back for the hard work! Lol... 2) I want to encourage any older members starting out that it's never too late in life to start…

Is there value in only lifting weights for certain body areas without doing others?
I don't have someone to spot for me so I don't try squats or dead lifts. As a woman in her 60's, my balance isn't the best and I worry that I may injure myself. I use machines that work upper body and I also use dumbells on a bench. Please share your thoughts.

First Bulk--How High Should I Go?
I am in the middle of my bulk where I started out at around 130lbs at 5'7, male, 23. I was doing research across the country and with all of the obligation just started to drop the weight over the summer. I want to really have a successful slow bulk this time around. I have been gaining on approximately 0.5lbs/week so far,…
