Slept terrible last night! Sinus cold, achiness in my neck and face. Took medicine, and typing to you all while lying in a hot bath! TMI I know!
Worried about nuke son making it here, with him connecting flight at Atlanta! Hopefully the chaos at that airport will have dissipated by the 16th! Deep breath's Rebecca...

Barbara - it was REALLY tough bubble wrap. I could pop it one layer at a time but not piled up. It was more fun to drive over it!3

Heather, I wouldn't be experienced enough or brave enough to try to do the Tongariro Crossing in winter. You have to use ice axes and crampons or have a guide...It's an "Alpine" crossing. It's hard enough to do in summer and I think they "close" it during bad weather or high winds. I will have to take warm clothes just in case something happens and I 1. get lost, 2. get hurt. 3. have to stay overnight 4. the weather changes quickly... I am just so grateful to be going with an experienced group of trampers and a guide who has done it many times, because I am the Queen of Getting Lost. LOL. My philosophy is it's always better to keep going forward, even if you're not sure where you are, because it is so boring to turn around and retrace your steps...Needless to say, this philosophy has gotten me into trouble a few times! But I've always Found a way eventually. Wendy7

There were alligators in the entire park. This state park is known for the alligator. Kind of a refuge. But alligators aren’t out at night. They like sunshine. I only saw two on the whole run for me. Disappointing. Lol. You run about ten feet from them so you are close but they are well fed by nature only and leave people alone. Never had an attack at this park but they are strict super strict about not feeding them. And no edible food scraps left. They work hard to keep them wild and they are strict about dogs and children getting close to the water. Signs everywhere warn you. You definitely know that you should steer clear of them.

Yes that was Seattle. Kirby just wanted a pic of him kissing the pig, no reason or major love of bacon2

Pip - love your Seattle pix, looks like the Holiday Spirit is in full force! The one of Kirby kissing the pig is too cute, lol. I do miss being close to Pike Place Market. In the "olden days" there was tons of free parking under the viaduct and sometimes I'd run down there on my lunch hour.
Marcelyn - Congrats to you and your son! Very impressive and inspirational. How long have you been running marathons? Those gators added some excitement...wow!!
Katla - custard pie sounds yummy!!! I gave up trying to make pie crust years ago so moved on to buying the frozen crusts.... I haven't made a pie in ages.
Rye - that picture you created is really nice. You are very, very talented!!
Okie - very nice photo. You look terrific!
Last night I went to put our cat into the shop - turned the back porch light on and there were three huge raccoons on the sidewalk. They took off quickly. Thankfully I had kept the pup in the house and didn't let her go out with me. I see they helped themselves to some apples in a container out by the potting shed.
There's a new "pet center" opening up about 10 minutes from our house, I just got back from the tour. It's a state of the art dog and cat boarding kennel with training, webcams in each kennel, vet visits twice a day - they specialize in boarding pets with medical needs and also do regular boarding for people going on vacation by the day or week, and have a doggy day care.
This was the dream of a local vet and now it has come true - she lives next door to the facility. Eventually she'll have her practice there and our county will finally have a 24/7 emergency vet.
That's the latest!

Fabulous Terry!
Katla - I think blind baking the custard tart is a good idea. I have never made one, but it would be usual to do so, I believe. Google instructions.
Seattle looks like great fun, Pip.
