So I looked at the calorie count for the recipe to enter into MFP, and ONE-SIXTEENTH of a cake (really? Who cuts a 9" round cake into 16 pieces?!?!) is 467 calories. Y'all, not saying I ate more than I should have, but I might need to run a marathon tomorrow to get back on track calorie wise...
Wow, that is a lot of calories for a small piece. Sounds like it was worth it though.*Groan* the first isnt even over and i want cake by the ocean. Thanks @PastorVincent .
Seriously tempted to woo this post :-p

That cake looks SO good!
Well, 2019 has not started the way I would have like it to - I can't shake this cold so I'm going to rest up for a few more days before I attempt gym or running which means zero miles logged for a few more days.
I rushed back after the last few times I was ill and it did me no favours so going to try and recover properly this time before getting back in to it.9 -
I'm going to give this a go and try and run 40km/25miles this month. I've hardly done any running over the last 2yrs and have a 10k lined up in May. I would like to complete it in under an hour, ideally around 55mins
Posting here will help me commit to my goals13 -

Worldwide maps make us look like tiny dots, Flyby with all the runs put together could be zoomed in, but you had to automatically follow the track (not easy when it jumped between continents). I also only have maps for some of the runs, meaning that a number of people are left out however I visualize it. So I'll just present this...

I somehow managed to gain 9 lbs over the course of a week and that cake of yours gave me a realization. I had stopped logging, but kept eating my usual foods at home (though portion sizes surely were increased) and kept up my usual exercise routine (25-30 miles/day biking, PPL weight lifting 6 days/wk, mixed with a smidgeon of running). BUT then I thought about the new vegan restaurant we tried twice. There must've been some serious calorie bombs in that food. No online nutritional information available and now I probably know why.
I had the same problem. A vegan place around me, that I loved eating at (although I am not vegan or vegetarian, i just was looking for healthier optioned foods and trying somethig new) has recorded their food as being 800+ calories. Most vegan establishments will not post calories because they want people to focus on living healthier lifestyles and eating healthy foods (which i later realized it was about hiding the hidden calories, overkilling curtain high caloric items to have the meals taste better) and have it not be about calorie counting, but when you load a salad up with beans and oil...for the sake of calorie counting.. it can be a bomb to the system like any other establishment. Even just adding one too many avocados can be an overkill. Sodium tends to be another overkill in vegetarian items, especially if it contains soy bean.3 -
1-1 Rest
1-2 7k intervals
January Total: 7k
January Goal: 100k
Next year when you pop in here claiming your December 2019 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?
Run at least 4 5k races.
Get under 30:00 and a PR for 5k.
Average at least 135k per month, which would put me over 1,000 miles for the year.
Run the Year Team: Five for Nineteen
Interval training today: warmup; followed by 5 sets of five minutes hard/90 seconds easy; followed by cooldown for the remainder of the 7k. Didn't run the hard intervals particularly well (fighting a head cold and a little hamstring niggle), but ABSOLUTELY CRUSHED the easy segments.
@PastorVincent I'll be glad to drive over and take care of whatever cake happens to be left.5 -
@PastorVincent I'll be glad to drive over and take care of whatever cake happens to be left.
So it is around 110 calories per mile of running (give or take based on weight/gender/etc)... which means you would only have to run a 50k to make up for what is currently left. So if you fly into PIT, that means you will not need a rental car. You can run to my house, back to the airport, then back to my house, eat the cake, then back to the airport and still have enough calories left for a 5 mile cool down jog.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 loved that breakdown

WOW.,... I get behind so quickly!
1/1/19 - 3 mi walk. Old back injury has flared up again. Hope to resume running in a week or so.10 -
Did my first real speed workout today. My plan called for 4 repeats of 1/4 mile each; I was only able to complete two of them, but much more quickly than I expected, so I'm calling it a win. With my warm up and cool down jogs included, the total run distance was 1.5 miles.
1.5/45.0 miles for January11 -
1/1 = 10 miles & FB Strong Day 1
1/2 = FB Strong Day 2
It was pouring rain and freezing cold so no run for me this morning. I signed up for Fitness Blender and started their 4 week "Strong" program yesterday. Goal for 2019 = Add in more cross training activities (and run all the races I signed up for - see below) without getting injured.
January goal miles = 75 / Miles to date = 10
Upcoming Races:
1/26/19 = Miami Tropical 5K
1/27/19 = Miami Marathon
3/10/19 = ZOOMA half
4/6/19 = Wanderlust half
5/4/19 = Wisconsin Marathon (mittens challenge part 1)
5/5/19 = Kalamazoo Marathon (mittens challenge part 2)

So, great job! For next time, do the sprints a little slower. As a general rule, you should aim for the speed at which you can just barely finish the entire plan. Unless of course, you have a coach, then do what they saw and ignore me.8 -
1/2 (3.1mi - run) (2.1mi - walk)
Run: (3.1/30 miles)
Walk: (2.1 miles)
Today was the first run of the year for me and I forgot to eat before I left so I felt entirely lacking in energy. I made my 5k distance in 32 minutes though so it could have been worse. I had to walk a couple miles to cool down before I went for groceries because I looked like I was on the losing end of a bullfight.
Georgia is hot!! It got up to 80° here yesterday. It makes me want to go back home. 🤣 We’re supposed to go to one of the nearby state parks to hike in a bit here. Hopefully I left myself enough energy to keep up!9 -

I wonder if hugging cake instead of inhaling it could be the answer to my current issues re not being able to run off all the food I would like to eat.7 -

Yes! For sure. I'm terrible with regulating my pace. I did the first sprint at a 9:50 min/mile pace; that probably would have been sustainable for the whole workout, but I ran the second one at a 8:30 min/mile pace. Good to know that I *can* do it, but not what I intended at all. Definitely a live and learn moment! Next week is a tempo run; I should be less tempted to blast that one out. I hope.

Good luck with that. I have been running for over a decade now as an adult and I still cannot regulate my pace. People like @MobyCarp always amaze me.5 -
So, I ran yesterday morning, and ever since then, my left ankle has been rather sore & painful. Its more on the inside, where the ankle meets the foot, but radiates up the ankle a bit & when I walk, the foot feels tight, for lack of a better phrase.
I have a wrap on it, doing some gentle stretching, plan on icing it later (when I have a chance to actually sit down!). Have a 6 mile run planned tomorrow....but when I look at my anatomy materials, I'm wondering if I might have a bit of tendonitis? I'm hoping just a strain though.
What do I need to look for or should I just make a call to my podiatrist?

It wasn't me but maybe 'hugging' it is a better action than eating it, no matter how good it is! I don't really like cake much but it does look good. Especially with coffee and some ice cream

Morning all.
Woke determined to go for my 3rd run of the year then noticed I was feeling very breathless and realised I've forgotten to take my preventer the last 2 days. May still go out but I know from past experience this makes for sucky struggling run. Also it's hot and humid.
Plans for today is take the kids to a park then pools this avo, so may have a swim.
Still on holiday for another 1.5weeks. Heaven7 -
I came over here to see if we can drum up a few more runners for the Run the Year teams and got distracted by @PastorVincent's cake! Ha...
We have 5 YTY teams but our last team is needing a couple of runners. You can check it out here on MFP - https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10710465/2019-run-the-year-group/p11 and at the YTY/YTE site - https://tracker.runtheedge.com/home/index
It is $25 minimum to register on YTY/YTE but there are more options if you like/want the bling. It looks to be really fun and the teams are already accumulating miles! Come join our fun! You know you want to!

I am just getting back into running, trying out the None to Run program which has a (very) slow start. So hoping to hit 25 miles in January, and then 30-40 in the months to follow!
-1.5 miles checked off today!11 -
Im going to shoot for 60 miles
1/1-3.25 miles
3.25/60 miles8 -

I'm not much of a runner, but I can eat cake with the best of them.4
