Mops ...
I use a spray mop and like it. Saves on having to deal with a bucket.
After a couple uses, I toss the soft part that comes in contact with the floor in the wash machine.

We didn't know that Bea is doing a 'scooterthon ' today, but, after we were told, DH went off to watch. It's far too hot for me ! She must have completed it by now, but here is a pic from before the race.
I emptied yet another drawer today! Mostly old bras. I never wear bras, but I kept a couple that fitted me. One black, one white. A pack of hair rollers! Moved one or two things to more logical places. Found some old bikini bottoms and fancy knickers that remind me of my young days. Kept those for old times sake.
Very satisfying to clear stuff out.
Then I washed out the trash cupboard and washed the disgusting dust pan. I'm about to go on Amazon and buy a pretty new set. But much better.
Happy days!

Pip Ride safe! We are cheering you on!
Barbara Warming bears are filled with smell good seeds and stuff. They have weight to them and can be heated in the microwave for comfort. My first one was given to me by my BFF shortly before she died. Brown bear is a constant companion even when traveling. We got the horse one to ride in the Bronco. We just bought a grey bear for a friend that has really high anxiety. I have acquired grey bear(he has the best personality), pink bear, white bear, two baby bears, black bear, orange bear, andpurple bear. Good thing we have a king size bed-lol!
Laundry going. Will walk some more today. It is cooler. Right now the fog is so dense that there is no world beyond our treeline. No mountains! It will change again in 5 minutes. DH made the comment that I hadn't pointed out animals in the sky yet (clouds). I explained that there have either been no clouds or total coverage. I keep looking though.
Love my local honey! Goes mainly in my coffee and has helped curb my allergies. Haven't had bronchitis since starting with the honey 7 years ago. My advice is to try until you find some you like and stay away from the mass produced stuffs.
Much love,

Good morning ladies!
Pip you go, girl! Have a marvelous ride!
Barbara so glad to that Joe does not have diabetes!
Kylia sounds like you are having a great trip! Enjoy!
Heather good job on decluttering!
It will be a slow day here. I have new books to read, and my knee is a little sore on the stairs. I might have to dig out the brace. I had visions of getting strong enough to put the brace away for good, but that's not reality. Now I just have to remember where I stashed it.

Spent a good part of the day in the garden. Not a lot of moving around, but lots of stretching and isometric exercises!!
Plus I've done some upper body weights.

Good morning, ladies.
Lanette, I have other cats....four actually. Two are strictly indoor and the other two will go in and out during the day and in at night.
Another nice harvest day here and farmers are going full on. I noticed some are spraying canola fields before attempting to combine. I think it is a desiccant they are using in an attempt to dry down the plants and any second growth of weeds that happened as a result of our growing conditions this year. DH is still swathing and some areas are still too wet to get into and some of the barley is laying totally flat as a result of all the rain and windy conditions. That will be a loss as he won't be able to pick it up when combining. Overall, though a nice crop.
Assembled five pies yesterday for the freezer and working on another batch today. In the past I have simply frozen the pie filling but found that I wouldn't use it up and ended up throwing it out. Started freezing the entire pies instead and find that I will use it. Will do ten in total. Might make a small batch of applesauce with a few of the leftover apples too.
Enjoy the day.

Lanette- neither my BFF or myself is fond of the flavor of honey - so we didn't even consider the recipes calling for it.
Wait honey lovers ! I admit that the honey I don't like is grocery store honey and that I have never done a honey tasting of other varieties. I don't remember ever being somewhere where their was honey tasting, but of course as it is not something I lean to I might just have not noticed. But the special honey's are expensive here and I would not spend that money without tasting first.
LOL smiles
Kim
Most farmers markets usually have local honey. Local honey for prevention of allergies is the best kind. There are usually light, dark and flower honeys. Honey has lots of medicinal remedies. Great for skin cuts or sores. Apply thin layer and cover. More on line info.7 -
10 Considerations If You're Struggling to Lose Weight
https://www.verywellfit.com/things-to-stop-doing-want-to-lose-weight-3496367
Most of my life, I have been slim and fit and very active.
However, in my mid-40s I started gaining weight.
December 2014, summer and some time off work meant that I had lots of time to exercise, so I did! And I lost some weight. But on Dec 23, they squeezed me into an appointment with a specialist, and I had surgery booked for early January - large polyps, which turned out to be precancerous, in my uterus. About a week after the surgery I was having a biopsy for a lump in my breast which turned out to be benign. I hit the highest weight I had ever been.
Mid-February 2015, I joined MFP and was on a mission to lose weight. Every single day with no breaks, I kept my intake at or slightly less than net 1250 calories a day for 15 weeks, and lost 15 kg. I took a 1-month break while travelling, and gained about 2 kg. I lost those 2 kg in the next few weeks. Then I stuck to net 1350 for the next 10 weeks and lost another 10 kg bringing me down to a weight I hadn't seen since I was in my early 30s before Christmas 2015. I weighed and logged everything I ate!! I also exercised a lot.
Starting in 2016, my husband and I increased the cycling we had been doing dramatically.
So it was not difficult to maintain my weight until March 2018 when my husband had an accident which resulted in a severe traumatic brain injury. And then I let things with me go.
At the end of April/beginning of May 2023, I hit a new high weight! Yuck. So I've been working at it again, but this time, I have not been logging my food. I've just been eating more or less what I ate when I lost all the weight in 2015. And I've lost 5.4 kg.
Although, this week, I was up a tiny bit. Not sure if that was because I've been exercising more of it was because I was trying a new at-work snack (roasted chickpeas) which I won't likely get again. They taste great, but possibly too good.
Now that it is spring, hopefully we'll have more nice days so that I can walk more at lunch again.
Plus the sun sets at 5:45 pm now so we've got a hint of daylight in the evenings again. Soon evening walks might be possible.
I am only 56 and want to be slim and fit and active again.

I liked the 10 considerations if your struggling to lose weight. Sometimes I will get stuck at a number for a couple weeks. Thanks you.2 -
Good morning all! I have been reading everyone's posts the past couple of weeks. I will try to remember everything. These last two weeks of summer are crazy. One week I plan a party every day. This year we had
a water party ( temps in the 90s) and I set up two different slip n slide areas, sprinkler area, water table, bubbles and of course the kids made chalk paint and mud. The second party was a Luau with treasure hunt, third party was Christmas in the Summer. We made ornaments, gingerbread houses, and had hot cocoa (this day was rainy and cooler; so the activities went over well). fourth party was a pajama party (thank god, bc I needed the rest) and the fifth party of the week was a camp out. I set up a couple of tents in the yard and we roasted hotdogs and had s'mores and sang camp songs. The second week was off to school week. As the week progressed, children would spend their last day(s) and then be off to school. All four of my "big kids" are going to different schools this year. One is at the montessori school, one at the arts/academics academy, one at the christian school, and one at the public school. I am also losing two four year olds to "pre-school" this year. One at the Y preschool and the other at the public preschool. That leaves me with room for five children. Only one can be under 18 months. I have posted the openings on a few public sites, but so far only one spot filled. I am more than a bit anxious about this and so, of course, now that my vacation time is here; I am sick. *sigh* The cold that I had a couple of weeks ago kind of hung in there with a little cough and voice hoarseness. But it has reared it's ugly head again. I am glad I am now on vacation and can sleep whenever I am tired and "do things" when I feel the urge to do things. BUT...it has also got me thinking about tackling this cold in a more "holistic/natural" way. I have been watching a few Barbara O'Neill videos. Have any of you heard of her? Do any of you use a more holistic approach to illness or illness prevention?
Along with Barbara O'Neill, I am also reading Michael Pollan (This is your mind on plants) and also watched the Blue Zone documentary (really interesting info). I feel like I have dug myself into this hole of "not-well being", due to stress, depression, exhaustion and I am hoping this vacation will give me the inspiration and rest I need to begin the climb out of the hole.
Pip- Sending you all of the good/safe vibes as you make your "ride" today! You truly are an inspiration and I can't wait to see your stats!
Katla- So glad you have the hummingbirds to watch and give you joy! They are so sweet and small (but mighty flyers).
Machka- I use the same type of mop. I am a big "cheapo" though and just use cloths instead of the pricey wet mop towels.
Barbie- Sorry to hear about Jake's ankle/knee injuries. I have injured both of mine (muscle/tendon strains). I have to say, the knee caused me the worse pain and longest healing time. A soft leg brace did wonders to remind me to keep it still and take it easy. Love hearing how your new pup is settling in.
Lanette- Your chicken stories just make my day! I would love to find "surprise" eggs! It is like starting your day with a scavenger hunt! lol
Annie- I bet if you can give your knee a day or two of rest; it will be all the stronger for it! Sit back and enjoy your books!
Heather- Your painting turned out wonderful! Yea, for you and the beach runs getting a little easier! Also...can your grands get any cuter?! You must have the three most active grandchildren in the Hove area!
Lisa-I enjoyed hearing about Johnny and his friend's visit. In fact, I enjoy hearing about your relationship with your kids and Corey. Just to think that it was all new, when I first "met" you on this group.
Rebecca- What an amazing month you have had!! The "boys" brought the joy. First Owain rings in the beginning of the month and then Eli rings in his arrival! Woo-hoo! Can I just say that I can hear/feel the joy in your posts. Your posts are "brighter". Hugs to you!
Rosemarie- Get rest and take care of yourself! Are we sick of covid, yet? Ugh!
Welcome to all of the new girls! A big hello and hugs to Rori, Beth, Michele, Barbara, Margaret, Tracey, Katie, Vicki, Tere, Kate, Kylia and all who are going through my mind, but I can't remember anything beyond sending you hugs!

“The dangers of sitting: why sitting is the new smoking
Sitting or lying down for too long increases your risk of chronic health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes and some cancers.
Too much sitting can also be bad for your mental health.
Being active is not as hard as you think. There are lots of simple ways to include some physical activity in your day.”
Here is the link to this article: https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/health/healthyliving/the-dangers-of-sitting
I bought this scale for weighing meats, etc. to make sure of the service size from Amazon for $10. It is about the size of my cell phone. My DH loved it, and I do to. It is small and folds closed so you can bring it with you when you eat away from home too. Thought maybe someone on here would be interested. I used my 8 oz coffee cup to show you the size.

1. Find time for self-care. It’s not selfish. It’s essential. Making time!
2. Notice the things you do well, however small. I will. Talking to campers, meeting dogs, electronics.
3. Let go of self-criticism and speak to yourself kindly. I will try!
4. Plan a fun or relaxing activity and make time for it. Did this already! Went for a long walk this morning.
5. Forgive yourself when things go wrong. Everyone makes mistakes. This will be hard because I tend to blame myself for everything.
6. Focus on the basics: eat well, exercise, and go to bed on time. Will Do!
8. Be willing to share how you feel and and ask for help when needed. I will try to remember to ask for help when I need it rather than struggle and get frustrated.
9. Aim to be good enough, rather than perfect. This needs to be a mind change for me. Whenever I do something, I get upset if it is not perfect. I need to make it a point to accept what the result is while doing my best.10. When you find things hard, remember it’s ok to not be ok.
11. Make time to do something you really enjoy.
12. Get active outside and give your mind and body a natural boost.
13. Be as kind to yourself as you would to a loved one.
14. If you’re busy, allow yourself to pause and take a break.
15. Find a caring calming phrase to use when you feel low.
16. Leave positive messages for yourself to see regularly.
17. No plans day. Make time to slow down and be kind to yourself.
18. Ask a trusted friends to tell you what strengths they see in you.
19. Notice what you are feeling without any judgement.
20. Enjoy photos from a time with happy memories.
21. Don’t compare how you feel inside to how others appear outside.
22. Take your time. Make space to just breathe and be still.
23. Let go of other people’s expectations of you.
24. Accept yourself and remember that your are worthy of love.
25. Avoid saying ‘I should’ and make time to do nothing.
26. Find a new way to use one of your strengths or talents.
27. Free up time by canceling any unnecessary plans.
28. Choose to see your mistakes as steps to help you learn.
29. Write down 3 things you appreciate about yourself.

KJ - Brighton and Hove is one of the fittest and healthiest places in the UK. The girls belong to a very active peer group. After the scooterthon, (Scoot, Bike, Run), Bea is going off to her theatre group for 3 hours.
Tomorrow, after Edie's triathlon, she has a swimming gala in the evening.
Of course, it is mega hard on the parents. Both girls in football teams, swimming lessons, cycling and triathlon club for Edie. Then they also have music lessons! And Bea's theatre. Plus Art Club. All these are a big commitment for the parents!
Max does a bit of cycling, and sailing in the summer. He can now take himself to computer coding club by train and bus. He does other things, like chess, at school. Piano he can now, at last, walk to!
I was a super lazy parent, and if they couldn't get there by themselves, they didn't go. J had music lessons at our house, and roller disco near the school. I did pick him up from that. T had fencing across the road, but we had to drop him off at the coach for competitions. He played rugby as a teenager, which was more of a commitment, as the grounds were some distance. He did play internationally, travelling to Italy with the team.
My advice is, never let your children be any good at anything!
Sorry, one more pic.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

New to MFP and macros. I am sooo ready! I told my husband let's start after we get back from San Fran next weekend. Took a picture of my son and I at his football game last night and told my husband, not waiting until next week! Starting tomorrow (which is today)! Sooo here I am. After an emergency hysto in 2013 I have been at 200 give or take 5 pounds either way. But then, around 2021 the weight started creeping up and up. highest 225. cannot for the life of me go back down. I am a total comfort eater and have become very sedentary - which I never was. I ache. I complain. I'm unhappy and I stopped looking in the mirror years ago. I'm 53 but feel 90!!! I'm at rock bottom.
Hey, This is Cindy from Pensacola. Welcome. I too had a surgery that caused a change for me. I had physical limitations in ability to care for myself and limited walking. But anyway I am better now. January I was 216ib. I had frequent falls. I hurt too. I wanted desperately to lose weight. So I started MFP in addition to taking a low dose Phentermine 15mg daily and Topiramate 25mg twice a day meals. I just needed a little help curbing appetite. In the beginning I could not exercise. I lost about 10lb then I was able to start with a stationary bike. Slowly I worked up to 45 minutes a day. Then in May I got an electric trike due to balance issues. The world was now in color to me being able to be outside was such a motivating force for me. I had read on MFP to lose weight it's important to be outside for 30 minutes a day. In total I have lost 33lb. It has been slow. It has been a life style change. I am so grateful for the changes I made. I am moving better and a little faster. I don't know if my balance will improve but I know losing weight will help my joints and if I fall I can almost get myself back up now. I hope I have encouraged you. It's one day at a time. I eat a high protein low carb diet. I love carbs. I have learned how to replace those foods and be satisfied. I drink protein water. Protein 2o grape is my favorite. Amazon has it. Also drink a protein supplement daily Premier protein I like chocolate. There is also Pea protein tasteless to add to any drink. No time to cook. Realgood foods frozen section to keep on hand in case you can't cook. My fav is the chicken enchiladas and Lasagna. I don't eat red meat due to gut issues. I eat a lot of fish and chicken. Shrimp has a lot of protein. I use zero carb tortilla as my bread. Make a roll up with cheese and ham w/ tortilla heat it up. I use PB2 and reconstitute place on tortilla and add raspberries or blackberries fresh and eat. There is chocolate PB2 also. Mozzarella cheese sticks are great zero carbs and filling.3 -

Hi, I’m still here. Just been busy. Vince volunteered at the fair, he will again Sun and Mon. Just texted Denise that we will be there 9/12, 13, and leave 14. Finished the jigsaw puzzle. We went to the fair last night (Vince was just a spectator). Lectored at the church tonight (Sat). Worked at the soup kitchen yesterday. Tues was the last day this month for me to count the donations at the church. Worked Wed. because the store mgr was on vacation and the asst. mgr. Needed help. I think she does some prep on Wed. They got new shelves for the refrig at BK and I think right now I’ve got it figured out how we can do the prep. Going to run it by the store mgr. Monday. Been in the pool. Jess said she’ll probably come here next weekend (I’m guessing to use the pool)
Allie – I, too, missed that you ran over your foot. What happened? I’m so glad you had a great cruise. We have a southpaw, huh” This cruise may be at an end, but the memories never end
Been pulling weeds around the pool. See, we’re going to put down these blocks (yea, makes it easier for me to mow) but first I have to get rid of the weeds that are around the pool. If I do a little each night for a few nights, I’ll get it done. Took some plastic gloves from BK. Not that that’s a real expensive item, and not like I took a whole lot
Walking around the neighborhood. The other day took a walk to Food Lion and the dollar store. Needed to return an item at the dollar store so I got Halloween cards for everyone.
Lisa – congrats to you and your daughter. You certainly raised one really great gal. So sorry to hear her ex is giving problems.
REALLY not liking this getting dark so early stuff. M – you are so so lucky that you are starting summertime
Tracey – congrats on the certification. I knew you could do it!
Rita – Vince took his area 51 train to the fair one night and he said it was the hit of the night with the kids. When we went this one person had a spaceship and a cow would go up into it. I thought that was cool
Welcome everyone new!
Debbie – I love to marinate meat before grilling.
Barbie – I’m so glad to hear that you are going to adopt Bodhi. He’s one lucky pup, that’s for sure
Katie – I prefer the “hands and knees” to clean my floor. One time I was using Mop and Glo and Vince commented “it’s called MOP and Glow for a reason” because I was on my hands and knees
katla – how is your hubby? How often do you get to see him?
Pip – when will Bette be sold?
Since I don’t work tomorrow, the plan is to do a Kettleworx Cardio DVD. Speaking of Kettle Bells, anyone know where Mary is?
Hot flash coming on so time for frozen grapes!
Cindy – congrats on the loss. Awesome!
Rosa – glad the eye isn’t hurting you. It’ll get better
Carol – we used to have a little stool for my father to use to get up into our Ram Charger back in the day
Better get to bed.
Michele NC
Michele. This is Cindy, Pensacola.
Weeds can also be killed by taking cardboard dampen with water not soaked cut to size lay over area and it will kill the weeds. You can lay the blocks right over it. Food for thought.

Heather UK I love Cass! She really helped me understand my organizing style. I am 90% ladybug with a little micro thrown in, though that may be more perfectionism rearring it's ugly head. I struggle to file things and put lids on things. DH is a Bee. Very micro but visual. I like things out of sight, he likes to see everything. I need to dump and move on while he likes file drawers. Still trying to blend our styles.
Watched the hummingbirds play last evening. I was sitting on the back porch near the feeder. Two females. One short beak chatty thing. The other a really long beak. They ate, chased, and buzzed around me for an hour. Once they collided so hard I heard it! They kept resting on my spinners which would then start to spin and off they would go. It was really relaxing! I will miss them while on vacation.
Been prepping for vacay. We leave today. I left shop as prepared as I can and not stressing over the work not done as I have time while on vacay to do it. Would prefer to not have to do it while gone but 4 deadlines while I am gone and just haven't had time or energy to totally catch up. Still, Sitting on porch in bathrobe with coffee and working or adult beverage in evening not bad working conditions. 👍 Will be walking lots. We eat my way while on vacay. Light breakfast then late lunch/early dinner. It suits me. May not have as many fruits/veggies but try to make good choices.
I have officially been married longer than first marriage. While it isn't always easy, it is somehow still better than my first. Funny because my first wasn't hard, just not right. Does that even make sense?
Rebecca Insurance companies do have too much power. I can't get recommended MRI because I haven't been to ER enough for migraines- smh. I use the ER for just emergencies. I may have to look for non insurance options to get it done. Won't be through our local hospital though as cash price starts at over $3000.
Gotta go water plants, shower, and pack clothes. Miata already loaded on trailer., truck fueled, and non clothes items packed in tubs. I have coloring books, magazines, cross stitch, laptop, work stuffs, tablet, and phone. Good thing is laundry at home caught up and washer/dryer at cabin so don't come home with lots of dirtiest.
Pip You are inspirational!
More later! Time for meds and shower.
Much love,
Kylia in Ohio ready for the mountains!
Kylia. Cindy. Pensacola.
So puzzling that you have to go to ER multiple times just to get them to pay for MRI. Did you call insurance directly? Sometimes it takes consistent documentation from your primary physician. They just have to know this is a primary issue being monitored by ur doc on an ongoing basis without improvement. Once they have that they will pay. The insurance company should be able to tell you what notes or documentation they need to get it paid for. Please call and try that if you haven't. Using the ER like a regular doc is a waste of the insurance company money just doesn't make sense.4 -
SophieRosieMom wrote: »Lisa - stunning hummingbird photo. Nice photos of John & Soraya. So glad you and Corey were able to meet her. She and John look very happy together. Good job on the burn piles, impressive! Any pix of the stable? I love old farmsteads and the various little outbuildings they had here and there.
Kim - Glad the errant cat finally made it back home, even tho he was limping. That's cat life in the night-time fast lane. I don't think I could get away with changing my kitty's litter twice a week. If I don't get after it once a day she uses various places in the shop to make her deposits. Do you have anyone else in the neighborhood who could check on Levi for you if you are called away over night?
When we had the farm, DH and I made a run to Regina, Sask to pick up some sheep and had to stay overnight. General Patton at the wheel, lol. Anyhow we left a list for a neighbor kid on what little chores needed to be done, and actually did a walk-through, checked tasks off the list, etc. Well, when we got home - I can't remember specifically, but we could tell corners were cut or things left undone. All the critters made it fine, but it made me wonder why this was so complicated for a 12 year old who was otherwise bright and doing well in school, lol. After that, it was hard to pry DH away overnight and we made some long day trips to visit friends in Oregon a few times.
Ladies, a reminder - if you want to be included in the accountability post, please let me know the info today or first thing tomorrow.
It's overcast and chilly this afternoon. I was messing with the tarp over the chicken run a couple hours ago so let the girls run loose. They had their adventure, found some weed and green grass to peck at, then came back for a treat, perfectly happy to go through the gate and settle in for the afternoon. Still at 3 eggs most days, not sure what is holding up hen #4 Almy. As the days shorten, egg laying will fall off unless I light their coop and run and don't intend to. So she better get moving!

We had the other half of the pea masala tonight. Love it! With sea bass, and DH new potatoes cooked in the IP and then sautéed.
Going to be getting up at 6.15 tomorrow morning to get to Edie's start by 7.35. I will, be awake before that, I'm sure, and will take my face and clothes upstairs with me to get ready before breakfast. I washed my hair this afternoon.
May be thunderstorms later tomorrow, so will have to shut the skylight.

Glad I check my bank account almost every day. Learned that someone had charged almost $400 at Walmart and it's pending tomorrow. Cancelled the card and will contact bank tomorrow (closed today for Labor Day).
Kylia ~ So glad you had a successful journey to the cabin. Yes, self care is important.
Barbie ~ Your quote about shutting your mouth hit home. It made me remember a Bible verse that essentially said, "Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, for he will despise the good sense of your words."
I take lots of different vitamins. My brother who is a retired Pharmacist said that he is taking a huge amount of supplements to ward of Covid attacks. Can't remember the main one he liked though.

Carol, I have a card that I can turn off when I am not using it. I too in the same year this one a couple months apart had unauthorized charges on my card. Now my card is tap. Not every store has tap at the register. My card has a place under card management where I can turn it off when I am not using it. The only thing I have to remember to turn it back on before I use it. Mine is through Pen Air.2 -
Debbie - how neat running across those Uggs. There are some good bargains out there if the timing is right. Also, great job on the rotisserie chicken buys. I never see deals like that up here. They are $6.97 at Walmart and last I checked, pretty small. But nice for a change and these days, if a person can get 3 or 4 meals out of one and cook the carcass for some broth, that's not bad.
Rosemarie - hope you tested negative and were able to go out for a meal. Crossing fingers in a few more days your energy will bounce back, but in the end it takes as long as its going to take. Glad you were able to sit outside, bet it felt good.
Rita - that's a really nice little portable scale. Great article about the dangers of sitting. And good ideas for becoming more active. I only have 2 stairs to contend with at a time around my place. Many years ago when I worked for the county, I'd walk four flights up and down several times a day. I do miss that.
Machka - you have a nice situation for walking and stair climbing.
Cindy from Pensacola - way to go! Love reading about your progress.
Denise (and other new ladies) - welcome! You've come to the right place. It's a busy thread and it seems like many of us have known each other forever, but we were all new once upon a time. There are several "active" gals who have only been with us a few months so jump right in whenever you feel like it.
Pip - Congrats! We knew you could do it!
Kelly - hope you feel better soon so you can enjoy your vacation days. Has your daughter found a house yet or still looking? I'm not familiar with Barbara O'Neill. I just went onto the library website and I'm in line for "This is your mind on plants" - looks interesting. I get a lot of my ideas and recipes from homesteader type Youtube channels (chicken and composting/gardening info mostly) and friends whose heritage is to have home remedies and treatments, saving the ER and docs for really serious stuff.
Regarding the vacancies in your daycare, is this normal - last minute sign-ups or do you think things have been changing, and if so, why? With lots of folks working from home and staying home more for the past couple years, I'd tend to think more babies arriving. I could be wrong.
Honey - I buy local honey here from friends or acquaintances with their own hives. Yes, it's quite spendy but as Machka says, it crystalizes after a couple years so I know it's the pure stuff. I'm currently eating some that was put up in 2013. I had to set the jar in warm water for a few hours to dissolve the crystals - it's delicious. I've been paying $26 a quart here for the past couple years.
Better get a few things done outside before I'm overtaken by a nap. Up at 2 again. But considering I was asleep by 8:30, I don't think that's too bad.

I remember him graduating and enlisting! Good grief. It would be seriously awesome to see all the boys at once, even if just for a little while.
Carol – Well done on getting the fraudulent charges removed! The banks have insurance for all that, I’m sure. The change in your account number may well keep it safe for quite some time. Also have much sympathy for the short girl getting in a jeep. I love them, but I have a hard time getting in them.
Barbie - Bodhi could not have found a more perfect placement than with you and Jake. That is one lucky dog.
Rosemarie – I’m so sorry you’ve been ill, though it sounds as if you're doing better. In your honor, as well as the rest who either have had covid or known someone with it lately, like Allie, I wore a mask during my time in town today. I don’t mind being the only one, especially if it keeps me from getting covid.
Betsy - Speaking of covid, Betsy, how is your sister? I hope with all that's going on she didn't end up getting more ill. You've been on my mind of late.
Back from my tests, and was able to get those done, then made it through Walmart for a new hairdryer, Aldi for fresh ground beef and Harps for a few specialty items and then back home. With my gardening this morning, I'm well over 8,000 steps without even trying.
I also got a call from my daughter while I was out running around--or I should say, from my 8-year-old granddaughter, who wanted to know (while in the truck with her mother driving her to school) whether the Tooth Fairy was actually real. She caught her mom trying to hide some money under her pillow, and is one smart little girl. Then she asked if Santa Claus was real--and my only answer was "Well, I do know that those who don't believe, don't receive..." which her mama jumped on like a duck on a June-bug. Not sure how my daughter is going to get around that one, but I'll be interested in the outcome!
I genuinely don't remember when I found out that Santa wasn't real, so it couldn't have been too traumatic. I do remember my mother taking our notes to Santa and (after reading them) putting them in the fire to send up to the North Pole in the smoke... but that's it. Do you remember how you found out about Santa? Or what you told your kids?
Later, y'all,

Yep pretty much. He had left Nov 2018. It doesn't seem that long ago, but in some respects its been eons.💖
I showed his letter to each of my boys, when the time seemed right. Its a letter dated Dec 5th, 1969 from Santa to me.💖
Becky,
Thank you for all the letters you have sent to me in the past. I do appreciate them. Now that you are 7 yrs old, I thought it was time that I wrote back to you. I know that kids your age are growing up, asking questions and gaining information about the world very fast. I know that all this activity going on all at once can be confusing. You have questions you cannot answer, doubts you cannot run away from, and so on. One of these questions that I know you have is one that all children your age have. You want to know if I, Santa Claus, really exist?
I know you have asked your parents and I know that they have jyst looked at each other and did not know what to say. I know that you have spoken to other kids who say I am not real and you have spoken to others who say I am. So, then what is the truth?
The truth is I do exist. Probably not in the way you think I do, but I do exist. A long time ago, I started out as an all-seeing character in a legend that people would tell their children in order to make them act like good people when they were not with them (remember the "naughty and nice" song)? To reward their good children, they would give them presents on Christmas Day and say that the gifts were from me. The parents did these things out of love for their children, and this is how I exist today. I am a creation of love that your patents have handed down to you from their parents to make you a better person, and since I know you so well, I know that it is working. Your parents love can do many, many good things for you. Making me real to you is just one of these things.
One thing I am not is a wishing well. You can't just write a letter to me and get what you want. In stories and fairy tales this works just fine, but in real life you have to work for what you get, just as your parents work very hard for what they get, and what they get you. You are a smart, hardworking person, and I know that you will understand this.
So, do I really exist? Yes I do. Would you like to see me now? Well this is very easy to do. Just go sit on your mom or dad's lap and look into their eyes. The love you see in there is me, Santa, and I will be there for you always.
Love Santa
So my eldest read that at 7 yrs old and looked at me and said, "there's a Santa in all of us", in a whisper. I replied, bingo.💖

I really like that scale for traveling. I use my scales all the time for my food. Usually I guesstimate the amount. So small would fit in a pocket or purse.3 -
We took Bodhi for a ride in the car today to prepare him for the drive on Wednesday to go to the shelter to have his picture taken and to sign the adoption papers. He jumped in easily, lay comfortably on the pooch pouch with me next to him but needed lots of encouragement to get out. Baby steps.
