Rebecca - Kept meaning to tell you I liked the Scrabble family game, and I don't think it needs a frame... and if you have a great need to learn to knit, I think you can find this pattern out there, just for Lee. Or maybe HE should learn to knit! (Not sold everywhere, pipe not included, no guarantees of looking as cool and retro as the dude in the picture.) Hee!

Did Jari Love Extremely Ripped 1000 DVD today.
Rose and Anita – welcome!
M – I’m sure you’ve heard this before. To TEMPORARILY relieve the itching, point your blowdryer to the itch, hold it there as long as you can possibly stand it, then take it away. The reason this relieves the itching is that the heat breaks up the histamines that cause the itching.
Lanette – yes, even the Salvation Army has higher prices now. Well, I look at it this way – it’s still better than a sale at a store!
After exercise took my walk around the neighborhood. Then to walMart and bought gas. $2.97 a gallon!
Lisa - just love, love, love your quotes
Carol – I must have missed about your car. Tell me about it – color, make, and all that stuff.
Vince is doing something (I don’t totally understand) to the frames that go in the windows that we play the videos on for Halloween and Christmas. It has something to do with blocking the light from the kitchen when the video is playing. I guess I have to see it, I just can’t envision it.
Tomorrow is bowling and then ceramics.
Just cleaned the silver plate silverware set I have and a set of knives that I’ll never use. I’ve never used them, I think I got them for our wedding (back in the ice age….lol) I remember the last time I was at Replacements they were also selling silver plated silverware. I’ll see if they’re interested in this. If not, maybe the Humane Society because I’ll never use it. I have 2 other sets of silverware (one sterling silver). I can only use so much and I don’t think Jess or (especially) Denise would be interested, especially since it has to be cleaned periodically.

I hope the worst bit down the right side of my neck would start improving.
It's so itchy and sore at the same time, but I know that scratching would be a very bad idea.

I've developed very itchy lumps and bumps on the backs of my hands now too. Yay!

Machka - I know your Sunday is nearly over, so I hope you can get in to see a doctor on Monday. It's frustrating when an allergic reaction continues, even when the allergen is gone.
I'm trying a stronger Hydrocortisone Cream which does seem to have reduced some of the itchiness ... just now anyway.
I've also picked up Benadryl which is a different antihistamine than the 2 I already have.
I'm also doing a load of towels and cloths. I've washed my glasses and cleaned my phone!
I took a photo ... I think it is improving. Looks better than it did a couple days ago, I think. Each of those little bumps is a blister or just a lump, not a pimple.
My cheekbones are settling down. But I have more on my forehead, nose, and the back of my hands now.

Michelle in NC are you sure you want to get rid of the silver? It is werewolves and vampire time!!! Bwaaaaa 👻🧙💀👽🙀5

Well with his pants on...at least this is a start 😆
Having a chuckle watching the Love Boat..
Sorry to hear about Suzzane Somers passing away..6 -
Machka, that looks very itchy and painful. Hopefully the Benedryl will help. For me, Claritin seems to be more effective.

A glass of water from the tap takes 2 seconds. Simple. It didn't have to be complicated.

In the morning, before I head off to work, I drink a tall glass of water.
When I get to work, I make myself a cup of coffee and pour another tall glass of water. Throughout the day, I try to match my coffee intake with tall glasses of water, or have one extra glass of water. It often means I drink 2 big cups of coffee and 3 tall glasses of water at work.Hi Gals,
I have been working on adding some new habits, all around the idea of getting some more me time…which really means figuring out how to make my work time more efficient. Which is not that easy, but I have to generate the same or even more money each week, but also free up all of one day a week to have “off”. Ten years of having some income generating work in most every day is burning me out. So the first change has been making one each day a week client appointment free to be able to work with out interruption. I did it for the first time last week and it felt good – I got more done in that day then in an average day. So looking forward to that again this week.
Love ya all,

10 years!!
I can't even imagine!! It's hard for me to wrap my head around that. Is there any way you can take a break?

Heat actually makes this rash worse.
What I'm reading advises cool cloths. So I've been washing my face, neck and chest with a warm cloth, then with a cold cloth. Sometimes I use alcohol (which is similar to witch hazel). I've used an antibiotic cream. And now I'm into the Hydrocortisone Cream.Lanette – yes, even the Salvation Army has higher prices now. Really?
In Tassie, it's a toss-up.
Yes, the op shops may sell things from higher-end stores for less than I could get them on sale in those higher-end stores.
But often I can get something new cheaper in a department store.
For example, I rarely buy T-shirts and things like that at an op shop. The op shops will sell them between $4 and $6 ... but I can get new T-shirts at K-Mart (not the American K-Mart) or Big W for about $5.

It is!!
I've got Claritin for daytime.
I've been using Telfast (Allegra) at night.
And now I'm going to try Benadryl to see how it goes.
I've also been using ibuprofen to see if I can take down some of the inflammation.
It seems to be working a bit, but as you said, it could take a couple weeks.

Vince feels he has the flu. He’s feeling achy, runny nose, sneezing. All the symptoms of the flu. We were waiting until next month to get our flu shots when we had our annual MD visit. However, if he’s still feeling this way, I want to get the flu shot asap. Update: I just booked an appt. at CVS for 11 tomorrow morning to get my flu shot. Unfortunately, it takes a while to work to full, but IF I get the flu, it will most likely be milder.
Rita – it’s only silver plate. I do have some sterling silver so I’m probably OK with ghouls….lol Plus, I just bought some garlic...hehehe

Machka-that is a vert angry rash. I think Lisa recommended you go to Doctor with it-I agree with her on that.
Kim-I'm a workaholic and I couldn't;dn't see[ your schedule. Of course, since you say it is income generating if you need money you do what you need to do. Hope you find a good balance.
Lisa-nice sweater vest picture. Rebecca- I would so buy one for Lee for Christmas. I have always been fond of argyle https://a.co/d/3F4ih9j. Come to think of it-I might buy myself one (always have liked them).
So yesterday I got notice of another data breach od data and got a letter from a medical company about one. I am embarrassed to say I have a number of alerts regarding compromised passwords due to data breaches and warnings about weak passports. After my grocery shopping, walk, and laundry I sat down to tackle the job. I had a new book to transfer passwords to (old one falling apart). It was a very slow, tedious process. I feel much better now that it is done-but I actually finished it this morning.
Late yesterday pm I went and to my RSV vaccine-woke up miserable. I did take a walk after loading up on ibuprofen. Did some basics around house and rested in between times. Going to take some more ibuprofen and go to bed. Should be ok tomorrow morning.
Take care all,

Lisa - we are doing tiny bits of Reno’s at a time and I like it. If I had the money though I would just go stay somewhere and let a crew come in.
I love those shirt ideas. My Grandson has an app that is all stick figures that be creates little movies with. He would love that one.
Heather - DH and I always have a holiday row too. Usually short lived thankfully.
I love the photos.
Allie - I hadn’t read that Suzanne Somersault passed away.
Kim - I truly hope that you can figure out a way to get a break. That’s not healthy.
Rebecca - I love Lee’s sweater, that would be my choice too.
Well my daughter and her DH are at the airport. Their dog is starting to settle a bit.
I was just settling in for a text chat with my cousin, like we do most evenings, when she sent a message she had to go her son, DIL and two granddaughters were in an accident. Her son was on the way by ambulance to the hospital.
She just called, they were on a large side by side with a friend. It tipped over nose first. Her son and friend went through the windshield. She’s still waiting for an update on him. Her eldest granddaughter has terrible seat belt burns, DIL is banged up but ok. Youngest granddaughter is ok, she was in a car seat.
I pray her son and their friend have minor injuries.
On a lighter note I managed to get the gift for my brother finished today.
I’m sure he’ll get a kick out of it. I thought the wood was lighter. I didn’t have time to redo it.

Good morning,
Someone asked how SIL who as co-owner doesn't know how to do everything.....lack of interest is my guess. She has been bookkeeper since she was 15. That was all that was ever expected of her. She would go in early, do the books, go home. When Father in law died, she had to take a more active role in things. Even then it was limited, but more. Mother was already retired, but for several years came in to help at counter. I came into the picture after father died. Difference is I have always learned everything I can about every job I have had. That is either a strength or detriment, but just my work ethic. I don't understand her lack of interest. DH will defend her every time, so I just choose my battles carefully. The only thing I don't know how to do at the shop is the books. She doesn't share. So I hope nothing happens to her before we decide to sell. My step toward helping a difficult situation at least from my standpoint, is to just let her. I am trying not to step into her situations. Unless detrimental to customer, she is on her own. This is hard for me, but sink or swim.
I started this yesterday then started a few things at farm. We weeded flower bed, it wasn't hateful, but better now. DH cleaned up fence rows around house. I opened/ closed gates for him. Then I dusted and vacuumed the farm house. We stopped for Mexican on way home. I got a few small things done yesterday evening. I sorted my charging cords into bags. USB to micro, USB to C, and C to C. I was getting frustrated trying to find the cord I needed at any given time. Charging blocks are in their own bin. Adapters and sticks are in their own bin. Now I can breathe. Cleared out a bunch of old charging cords to items we no longer own. It felt good. I do need to order some C toC charging blocks. Visited with a friend. Watered indoor plants. Set up another google nest for internet at hot tub. All little things, but needed done.
Tracey Prayers for the children. Love the plaque!
Rebecca Men are so frustrating that way. My DH just has to think about losing weight and does. Now.....if he would cut down beer intake he could quickly lose the beer gut and 20 pounds.
Ginny, Machka, and Michele Sending healing thoughts your way.
Eclipse- we were under full cloud cover here.:( So thank you Rita for sharing.
15. Thank yourself for something you achieved that you take for granted.....a clean farmhouse and watered plants.
16. Thow away the to do list and do something fun....that will be tomorrow night when I go to a play with oldest daughter.
Time to get ready for work. Oh, I plan on downloading the video and pdf on small changes. Just need to get out laptop.
Welcomes!
Healing thoughts!
Good choices!
Much love,

Carol - yes, I have gas stations close by to fill up the cars. The stored gasoline is for the mower and generator. So I try to keep several gallons on hand, especially for the generator which I might need to run for several days to keep the fridge and freezer going if we lose power this winter.
UPDATE - Charlie stopped by late Sunday afternoon and filled the mower and put the rest of the gas in the car. He'll pick up the empty cans one of these days and get non-ethanol gas put in for me which stores better. Whew. He was working a block away - he has a mulcher - a big machine that conditions soil that was logged or has brushy debris for example, to smooth it out for building or planting. He said his gas bill was over $6000 last month.
Tracey - how sad about your cousin's accident. Crossing fingers the injuries are minor. That windchime is hilarious - it would sell well in my area. Hope your daughter and SIL have a good trip.
Heather - those canal photos (all of them, really) are just beautiful. What a lovely area, I can see why you like France so much. Thank you for taking us along.
Kim - we are so appreciative of what you went through with your mom - like you said, your research on assisted living places didn't pan out for her but you learned a lot you can share with others. Your cooking plans sound great and hope you are able to carve out some more "Kim" time. How's our sweet Levi doing?
Rebecca - love that photo of Lee in his kilt and that terrific sweater. I think Aran is coming back in style.
Kylia - sounds like a nice weekend for you in the catch-up arena. It feels so good to get the little chores done like the cord sorting that will save frustration later, doesn't it? Been there many times. That business would be sunk without you, for sure. I wonder if SIL is an introvert who would rather play with paper than talk with customers and besides, you have it handled so if it works, don't fix it. I'm always happy to read when you are taking time for yourself and doing things you want to do instead of have to do. Hooray for your rain!
Ginny - hope you are feeling better today. I'll have to read up on the RSV shot, it's new to me.
Michele - hope Vince is doing better today. Crossing fingers you breeze through your flu shot.
Lisa - loved those puns- I wouldn't have thought twice about them 30 years ago and now they perfectly sum up my day.
"It's so weird being the same age as old people."
"My favorite childhood memory is my back not hurting."
"I don't want to 'Go Big,' I want to go home."
"The internet is broken, so I'm outside today."
Adventures at Home Depot:Yesterday morning I stopped at Home Depot to pick up a couple of plastic roofing panels to put around the chicken run & coop to keep the wind and rain out in preparation for the upcoming winter storms. I already had several in place, just needed a couple more. In the past, I'd find an employee on the floor and they'd cut the 8' panels in half so I could fit them in my car.
I was surprised yesterday when they paged an employee, he walked up grumpily and said "we aren't allowed to cut panels for people." I asked him since when, and he said that was always the rule and he'd been there 4 years. I said I'd speak to the manager.
Found her, and told her employees had cut them for me twice this summer. She said it's not allowed for liability reasons and what were the employees' names so they could be retrained. I didn't remember their names and wouldn't have told her anyway. The way she emphasized "retrained" several times made me think of a North Korean "retraining" camp, lol.
So rather than lecture her on customer service, I left. Now I'm wondering - are employees at fabric shops allowed to cut fabric for customers or are they under the same liability issues if handling scissors?
In the meantime I have plenty of heavy duty plastic sheeting and wood so I screwed together a frame, stapled plastic onto it, and it will work fine for a while. So the roofing panels weren't very critical. Gave me a chance to use problem solving skills.
Welcome new ladies! As you can see, we chat about a lot more than weight loss. I think the support in this lovely group on many topics sure helps us on our health journey.

Kylia I share to Facebook and then copy it from my laptop to here or an e-mail. I believe you can share it to an e-mail address too. Haven't tried that yet.1

Kylia ~ What a handsome family you have. They all look happy, well dressed, and are just good looking.
I send my phone pictures to my email address and then I can put them on Facebook or MFP or save them to My Pictures on my PC. There's probably an easier method but I am a slow learner when it comes technology.
Lanette ~ Is there a Lowe's store near yo? I usually like going there instead of Home Depot.
Michelle ~ My "new-to-me" car is a 2019 Honda Pilot. I thought it came with navigation but this particular model doesn't. Right now I can't figure out how to turn the audio on and can only get FM radio stations because I can't figure out how to get AM stations. Can't get the parking sensor to turn on. I have figured out how to use the phone.
Rebecca ~ I would love having a cable knit vest like you husband loves.
Feeling sorry for myself. What do you do when your husband wants to sleep most of the day and then is up most of the night? I am beginning to feel like a widow. Can't plan to do anything together after lunch because he has to have his nap and it usually last 3 to 6 hrs.
Carol in GA8 -
Rosemarie ... I agree with the others in regards to being caregiver for your mom. I also wonder why your brother thought your mom needed to be relocated. Is she having problems or was he just looking at her age?
Annie ... I'm thinking about you and your mom and dad. You are not in an easy spot. Hugs.
Kim ... I agree that there is more to consider than just the cost when it comes to facilities for loved ones who are aging. We are spending a lot of money for my mother's care, and I cringe every time I receive the monthly bill, but I have weighed the positives/negatives. For many reasons, I cannot be her full-time caregiver. More importantly, she needs the social interaction that her assisted living facility provides. Of course she complains non-stop about the place, but she also has stories to tell every time I visit.
Lanette ... that you for Dr. Matt's links!
Heather ... it is unlikely that I will ever travel and certainly not like you do. I love your photos!
Tina ... share your travel photos!
Carol ... my husband and I have opposing sleep schedules most of the time too. I'm a morning person and he's a night owl. We usually do things together late morning into early afternoon. The siding project has messed up his sleep schedule though and I'm taking advantage of it!
I'm struggling with making healthy food choices and exercising more. October, for some reason, is always a problem for me. But today, I'm recommitting to making some sustainable changes ... which really means doing what I know works for me.

Ginny - Hope you're recovering fast from the RSV shot. There are four I need to get - pneumonia, flu, covid booster, and probably the RSV, and I don't know whether to have more than one on the same day or space them out and feel like ca-ca four different times... I'll see my primary care guy in early November, and will ask him them, I guess. Other than my pottery class and a little shopping, I'm seldom around anyone else.
Lanette - RSV was new to me, as well, 'til my grands and then my daughter all came down with it this time last year. Didn't know they already had a vaccine out for it. Liability has become much more important than customers' needs in so many arenas, so I wasn't surprised by the Home Depot manager response.
Kylia - Glad the photo thing worked... Your grands are just beautiful--they grow so stinkin' fast. Corey reminded me that our oldest grandson will be a teenager next year, and it hardly seems possible.
Michele - Hope Vince is better and that you dodge the 'flu!
Kim - Corey and I have found that neither one of us is good at cooking for just two (anything I cook seems to grow to feed four to six people, no matter what. ) But we're figuring out on a case-by-case basis how to freeze or flash freeze anything we make, whether before or after we actually get it cooked. More on that below. I'm so sorry your mother put you through all that, but will add my vote to what Lanette says, we're grateful you did the research, and it may well be key for you or others that you care about.
Carol - There are lots of options, but I can see two off hand - you can join him and change your schedule, or you can do something that makes sense to you during the day. It might be time to start doing things on your own, dear heart. Take up a hobby that is your own, and not a computer game, like playing with clay (my latest thing) or painting - you might be surprised at what's inside you if you let your creativity loose. Take a class during his nap times, like pottery or flower arranging, or making cards like Terri does. Don't say you can't do it until you try! Go volunteer at a soup kitchen, like Michele does, or something similar. Just a few thoughts.
Adventures in Domesticity:\Regarding freezing food: With main dishes like stew or beef stroganoff, we're more likely to eat it again if we fully cook it all, and then freeze what's remaining in meal-sized freezer bags--we're having stroganoff tonight, in fact, that we made on October 1. I ate a smaller bag of it last week for lunch, this bag will feed both of us, and we have one more left. One effort, seven individual meals. Tonight is just a matter of making egg noodles to serve with it, then adding light sour cream to the heated mixture.
Oh - and I made focaccia this morning. Last week, we took the last of what we had in the freezer and made individual pizzas from it, so I'm making some to go with tonight's meal and will freeze the rest. It's super easy to put together, but it's a long-rise dough, so it needs a whole day to rise twice and then bake. The first one I made lasted four months in the freezer, cut into three pieces of bread per bag, and was terrific as garlic bread or just a meal accompaniment.
With salmon patties and meatballs and other individual types of main dish servings, they flash freeze really well before cooking, on sheet trays in the freezer, and then we put them in freezer bags. That goes for cookies at the dough stage, of course, and I learned when I was doing lots of bread baking that bread dough freezes very well prior to the first rise. Freezers are just a lifesaver.
On other domestic notes, Egg wasn't thrilled with me running the vacuum cleaner early this morning, but I pulled up the bathroom rugs and got them in the wash first thing, while I was still putting my coffee together. While I had the rugs up, I wanted to vacuum and mop the bathroom. Then after that, since I had about 45 minutes on the vacuum's battery charge, I got the high-traffic areas vacuumed, plus the kitchen and the mud room.
I got triggered on the subject because I ran across some clickbait yesterday on the dirtiest thing in your house. Turned out it was bathroom rugs. Between people's hair, pet hair, dampness which creates a great atmosphere for bacteria, mold, mildew etc., skin cells, the usual dust mites, and dander, and then add the fact that most people only wash the rugs about every second or third month, they get pretty yucky.
I do tend to forget about bath mats, even though I wash my bath towels every time I use them. I had so many issues over the years with yeast infections when I was younger, as well as urinary tract infections, that I got in the habit of never reusing a towel. Corey only throws his towel in the wash once a week, and I don't argue, it's his choice to make, not mine. Sheets, because there are the two of us and we tend to shower daily, I wash every two weeks. In the summer, if they seem a little funky, I'll wash them once a week.
I know I'm not exactly little Susie Homemaker, but I think of myself as reasonably clean. Do you have a schedule for certain tasks like those?
I have rattled on here between making the focaccia, getting a Walmart order in with the flip-top glass jars I wanted for the pantry for flour and sugar, etc. Still moving away from plastic storage.
Time for the rest of my Monday chores, laundry, getting my meds organized for the week, etc., and need to get the dishwasher going with the dishes from making the focaccia!
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in Arkansas6 -
Hi Gals,
Lisa – I have no schedule for house cleaning/laundry/etc.
Laundry especially in the winter is as much as possible done based on outdoor weather as my preference is to hang my laundry on the clothes line, so I will watch for a reasonably clear dry day and do wash the night before and hang it first thing. Summer I will also do the wash the night before or after lunch so the clothes are not out in the direct sun….. We also have this time of day pricing on electric, so it is the most expensive between 4pm-9pm so I try to work around that for as much as I can. I vacuum and dust at least once a week – if it is a time of shedding for Levi’s coat, I can vacuum as often as daily. And unlike some of you I have company often (I would guess an average of every 2 weeks), so that makes for a more through cleaning.
I was surprised that bath mats are considered a dirty item, I hang mine over the shower curtain rod when not in use, so it is dry and not being walked on unless you are taking a shower/tub. And I am not a fan of being watched while I am doing bathroom business, so no pets allowed LOL I probably only wash mine once a month.
So in converting to Medicare from non-old insurance (LOL) the doctor was required to give me a yearly physical, which I did last week. My primary care doctor was all concerned about a spot on my tummy as skin cancer – sent me right over to dermatology for an examination. They took all sorts of pictures with fancy cameras for the oncologist to look at. I had not noticed the spot so when I got home I looked at it and then touched it and realized it was a bit tender like when there is a splinter – well I have been working at both my home at a friends with roses kinda felt like a thorn, and I get red around thorns most times, so I squeezed and out popped the thorn – put on a little Neosporin and its all healed up and gone. Kind cracked me up that instead of touching it they all jumped to the skin cancer concern. But certainly much happier to have a thorn in my tummy than cancer.
Love ya all,

1.Write down three things you can look forward to this month. 1. Another month of sobriety 2. Cooler weather 3. Decorating for Halloween14. Do something constructive to improve a difficult situation. I will have to think on this. I posted pictures of the eclipse that happened here on the Friends Group FB page, and sent some pics to my son and grandson.
2. Find something to be optimistic about (even if it’s a difficult time). I am optimistic about cooler weather.
3. Take a small step to a goal that really matters to you. I need to call my uncle.
4. Start the day with the most important thing on your to-do-list. Updating this list and My Fitness Pal.
5. Be a realistic optimist. See life as it is but focus on what’s good. I usually hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I think this counts!
6. Remind yourself that things can change for the better. No matter how bad you think it is, it can always get worse. So enjoy life no matter where you are, or what you are doing, or your circumstances.
7. Look for the good in people around you today. I can do this if I try. This was not difficult to do with visitors. Employees were a different matter!
8. Make some progress on a project or task you’ve been avoiding. I need to clean the cabinets out. I am planning to start today. Didn’t happen.
9. Share an important goal with someone you trust. did not do this.
10. Take time to reflect on what you have accomplished recently. I have accomplished coloring pages, making doctor appointments, calming my nerves by taking some actions I never tried before, and more.
11. Avoid blaming yourself or others. Find a helpful way forward. This is hard for me.
12. Look out for positive news and reasons to be cheerful today. With everything going on around me and in me this will be hard, but I will pay attention to good news.
13. Ask for help to overcome an obstacle you are facing. The obstacles I have cannot be solved by me, but by family members.
15. Thank yourself for achieving the things you often take for granted. I got up in a thankful mood today so I should be able to do this. The eclipse yesterday couldn’t have gone better.
16. Put down your to-list and do something fun or uplifting. I will color, walk, and meditate-all things that are fun and uplifting to me.17. Take a small step toward a positive change you want to see in society.
18. Set hopeful, but realistic goals for the days ahead.
19. Identify one of your positive qualities that will be helpful in the future.
20. Find joy in tackling a task you’ve put off for some time.
21. Let go of the expectations of others and focus on what matters to you.
22. Share a hopeful quote, picture, or video with a friend or colleague
23. Recognize that you have a choice of what to prioritize.
24. Write down three specific things that have gone well recently.
25. You can’t do everything! What are three priorities right now?
26. Find a new prospective on a problem you face.
27. Be kind to yourself today. Remember progress takes time.
28. Ask yourself ‘will this still matter a year from now?’
29. Plan a fun or exciting activity to look forward to.
30. Identify three things that give you hope for the future.
31. Set a goal that brings a sense of purpose for the coming month.
