A lot of women (and men) come here because they are unhappy with the way they look. When they start to see progress they get excited and want to show the world. A lot of them want appreciation, kind words, compliments... It helps them validate that what they're seeing is really there.
It helps them feel better about themselves. The more revealing the pose, the more likely they are to get compliments. Many respectful. (Yes, I said, MANY). More often than not, I'd say. This encourages that behaviour until one day... they get blindsided by a D pic, or a brutal aggressive message that borders on verbal sexual abuse.
Sometimes it's utterly random and based on who is on what threads at any given time, but from experience, it is often thread based.
I've been in both places... I used to be all over the place, in success threads, progress pic threads, and way in the beginning rate me / date me / hate me threads.
Now, I'm more secure in myself, rarely show my face in here, and lo and behold... no messages ever. That said... I believe I needed that initial validation period. It was part of my process, and I'm happy where I am now.
It would just be nice if people would toe a line... if you wouldn't say it to my face or show it to me on our first meeting... then don't send it in an email. And the same goes for me... If I'm not going to flash my ash in public, then why would I do it here?

Maybe my choice of words was wrong but no i agree no woman or man should have to go thru that and a woman should be able to post what she wants....when i say why do it if you lnow thats the ending outcome is a question not a statement....i literally need an answer as to why post it especially on mfp with the millions of fake profiles thay have atleast 75% of pervs behind them3 -

But I wouldn’t mind if instead of raising our daughters to understand this reality, we could also be raising up sons who are taught how to respect boundaries. One time I got a barely comprehensible message on MFP from a drunk guy that translated to “thank you for being nice to me.” It was awesome.
