Hi I've finally caught up yey!!
Happy Birthday to the birthday girls. If I remember there are quite a few March birthdays
Don't know if it's the weather (cold grey and wintery) but I'm in such a low mood, can't shake it off. I want to do so much but haven't the energy to get started. I hate feeling like this.
Kelly what lovely words for your mother in laws memorial, I'm not surprised that it was well received. I think it's always better when someone who knows the person speaks.
Our British Summer Time starts at the end of March which is also Mother's Day. That means we lose an hour. I'm with a lot of you, pick a time and leave it alone! It takes me ages to get used to the hours difference.
Welcome to the newcomers let us know what you like to be called and where you are from.
Gales are expected here later this morning, the wind has already blown over half the recycling bins put out to be collected. Not a good day to be out it's raining that awful rain that soaks you within seconds, so I'll need to get wrapped up to go to the shops later.
Well I'd better get on with something, anything .... otherwise I'll be in my own pity party all morning! Think I need Pips Boot ?
Have a good Tuesday

Morning Ladies~
Up dressed and on my second cup of tea.. have today off so will go feed DFIL and then run a few errands..2 -
Hi all,
Great job KJ The mourners will remember your words for ever.
Horrible wind here. We are expecting rain today. I have to pop out at some point to the pharmacy, but an umbrella won't cut it.
Swing tonight. I hope the rain will have passed over.

Hi, all,
Big storm here, too, Heather! Mostly we're expecting rain... as it comes over the mountains on the eastern side of Oklahoma, the systems tend to break up a bit. Janet in OK, hope y'all are in a protected area. Luckily, we are, and living in a stone house that's stood for 60 years here smack dab in the middle of Tornado Alley, USA, is reassuring, as well.
Been a tough couple weeks, work-wise, and woke up to a grant rejection. Not the best way to start a Tuesday morning! But, time to go find my big girl panties, pull 'em on, and decide on next steps.
Love y'all,
Lisa in wet, rainy, windy Arkansas6 -
Liss, We're expecting 60 mph wind gusts tomorrow. Rained off and on most of the night. Our house too has stood for 60 some years. Wind like that does tend to bring down branches from the huge old pecan trees nothing serious most often.
Have a good day my friends.

Storm Gareth has hit here.. Staffordshire UK, hello ladies i hope you are all well?4

Kelly... I'm not sure that people remember our words, but they remember how we made them feel. You loved your mother-in-law, you honored her and you touched everyone's hearts. We remember these things. Hugs.3

Morning everyone. Darn DLS time has messed up my routine so I am behind but am getting stuff done. Laundry and then off to the gym. I have had fun reading everyone's posts. Barbara, have you tried curabenz shampoo on your dog? My schnauzer mix had terrible allergic skin problems and this stuff cleared it up when nothing the vet had did, they sell it on amazon.
Your pup lookalike mine! He is 12 and a Shi-tzu mix!

Hi Carole! I've had a busy week here but hanging tough! Went to doc for a cyst that developed on my shoulder and began to hurt. I got a lot of new info on to eat clean to help inflammatios and he adjusted my supplements and medications. Good doctor. He focuses on the whole person not just the symptom. Anyway, he only tells you what you are doing wrong and how to fix it. I need to hear what I'm doing right and a pat on the back for all the positive changes I've made. So please remind me once in a while that "I am strong and will not give up." Also that I'm headed in the right direction health-wise.
PS. Had to skip sop marking my read at page 28. Will catch up later.

Rita - I agree with you about the medics. It would be nice to hear some praise. After the nurse weighed me she looked at the screen and said "Well, your weight is in the normal range," as if she was surprised. Then she asked me if I had a good diet. (I do have slightly high blood pressure). I said "What do you think? Do I look like someone who eats badly?" That was the first time she really looked at me. Grrrrrrrrrr!
I'm not going out this afternoon. Storm Gareth! ! Hope to get to Swing tonight.
Instead I made some scones (biscuits in American), which I haven't made in about a year. Haven't done any baking at all since I've been here. I like baking when the weather is horrible - makes me feel cosy. Hygge. DH will have one with our homemade blackcurrant jam and I will have one with cheddar cheese. Freeze the other six. I cut them from the round into triangles (like slices of a cake) because that's the way my dad did it. (He was the baker in our family)

Barbie & Evie: The praise from my teacher was a very pleasant surprise.
Dana: Happy 70th!
Felicia: I would be very happy with year around daylight time. I’m not holding my breath for that to happen any time soon, though. :noway:
Jovicsnyder: Welcome! :flowerforyou:
Pip: I’m on the same pages as you regarding PB=personal best (or peanutbutter) and PR=public relations.
KJ: I am happy that you made it through your speech about your DMIL. That was well done. I agree with Karen in VA, that it was a gift to those who loved her.
Heather: I hope that Storm Gareth does no serious damage in your area. :flowerforyou:
Baking sweets has been off of our agenda since DH was put on a fodmap diet. It is a real challenge when you can’t use wheat flour as an ingredient. We’ve made a few things using rice flour &/or corn flower that have come out pretty well. The problem is that if we make it, I eat more than my share until it is all gone. Even with strict fodmap guidelines he has had digestive issues. Gluten Free Beer did not keep him in good health so that is now off of our grocery list. He’s decided to try scotch, and that seems to be less problematic than other forms of alcohol. He has an upcoming appointment with a GI specialist, (gastroenterologist). I hope DH gets some good guidance. I plan to be there so that I can hear and understand what the doctor tells him.

Quiet day here so far. Rain starts tonight. At least an inch and this is on top of our 20 inches of snow. Street flooding tomorrow and Thursday. I did try to uncover our storm drains covered in 12 inches of snow. I'll go down there again when it warms up enough to try again. The also suggest removing as much snow away from your foundation. I will try. Fortunately we have large overhangs and sandy soil here so that helps. I will watch our basement too. I will let our son know what they suggest. He does have a garage with water issues that we are set to fix this summer. It is detached fortunately. As pretty as the snow is. Most are ready to be done because of the problems it causes. The snow will continue to give after it is gone in pot hole season.
I am staying in tomorrow and Thursday. Good time to clean and finish up taxes. Almost done! Hoping to get a tax deduction with renting the house to our son. Costs did outweigh rent and will continue to do so. It helps me understand why rents are so high especially if it is decently maintained. I also was able to add to a HSA account because of my 10,000 deductible insurance. It was the only way to make insurance more affordable for me. DH is on medicare and fortunately in his retirement package they help with his premiums. We feel very fortunate for that. Because of the insurance I have I am highly motivated to stay as healthy as I can.
Health insurance here is one reason many continue to work here when they would really like to retire. It adds at least $8000 to your salary. The up side to our system is that doctors are motivated to specialize here versus in a universal pay system. If you need a hip replacement you will get one much faster here than in say Sweden.
When my husband went to the oncology center for treatment. I have to admit my first reaction is this is a money making machine. One I hope I do not have to visit.

My scones turned out light and fabulous. I prefer them without any sugar in the mix. DH liked them so much he had two. I stuck to one, with a great deal of difficulty, and made haste to put the give remaining ones in the freezer.
Rain has dried up. We got a text from the electricity company to say we are on their priority list if the power goes out!! We are so old.

afternoon ladies~ been busy today... went and walked the boys.. then stopped to see my DGD she misses me, and then to feed my DFIL and bless his heart he ate everything and drank 4 glasses of milk... thats unusual lately..

also bought new patio furniture, and put mine on facebook marketplace, someone coming to pick it up this afternoon..if I buy something, something has to go out
Ha Ha I went to Lowes as I wanted to redo my kitchen when I thought I might get a bit of something from my dads estate. well that's not gonna happen.. just for the cabinets and countertops, that will be on sale through the 20th $14,000 that doesnt include the hardware or installation... sooooo thats out... if all goes well I might be able to afford new appliances and call it a day..2 -
Saw the DST comments. I despise DST. Dinner was late Sunday because I didn't realize how late it was. I'm also one of those people who has to have a few hours of darkness to be able to fall asleep. Closing up my house with black out curtains isn't an option because the rest of the household isn't like me. Right now it's OK, but June and July will be difficult. It's not dark here until 9:30 so I won't get to bed before midnight all summer. I'll quit whining.
Today is a beautiful day. Hoping to walk at the Waterfront Park tonight.
