Depends on what country you go by. In the USA the first day of summer is June 21, but some other countries use different days:

If you're in the UK it is rumoured to start at some point in July or August and last approximately 45 minutes, during which 16 hosepipe bans will be enforced and 784 people will need treatment for heatstroke. Foreigners will be forced to remove a layer.
also, I just lol'd at my desk and I needed a laugh so thank you for this!

Had planned on a long run yesterday but it was NOT happening. The route I picked, my local Rail Trail, starts out with a very shallow uphill for about the 1st two miles and my calves were absolutely barking at me. I'm wondering if there was a lot of leftover soreness from running 3 miles on Fri in my new Topos, which are a 5mm drop vs my old shoes at 10mm. Also, my entire right foot kept going numb. Just a very frustrating day. I did a little bit of foam rolling last night and boy oh boy was it painful. Today is a rest day and my plan when I get home from work is to do a real in-depth stretching and foam rolling session, which is something I really should be doing regularly.
Oh well, tomorrow's another day!

We celebrated Father's Day for my husband on Saturday, playing cards against humanity with our sons and drinking a little (or a lot) too much. I got up the next morning a little later than usual, so it was a little warm. My dogs were raring to go by the time we left the house, but their enthusiasm didn't last long so I dropped them off after only 2 miles. I gave myself a brief pit stop and went back out for a total of 6. I should have gone back around to the house to get water, as I was pretty thirsty by the end, but I pushed through.
This morning, I took them out for a walk and didn't bother to start my Garmin. It was about a mile, give or take. Then at lunch, I rode the indoor bike at work for 20 minutes, followed by Myrtl, bridges and ~20 minutes of yoga.6 -

Ha. I remember my first summer in the UK. It got to August and I said to my English flatmate, "It's going to start getting hot now, isn't it?" When she told me that summer was done already, I nearly cried.5 -

It's a beautiful night, so I went to run group, planning to just do a base run. The workout was 1-minute intervals x 9 with 1-minute recovery between. This is a workout I don't mind as it goes so fast, so I decided to just do it. It went okay. My right knee is a touch sore from the hills (descents) on Saturday but everything else felt fine. I have a large mysterious bruise from some obstacle I can't recall along with lots of little bruises - between that and my scar from my rope burn before the last race my legs look pretty beat up. My running friend said, "is this healthy?" I think the balance is positive so far.7 -
I had a coworker tell me she and her husband saw me running yesterday.
I told her at that point I was debating to turn and go home for water or keep going. She said, "Yeah you were going really slow." Thanks! 🤨3 -

I hate that. Why is it your friends always catch you on a tough running day?2 -
Was coming down from my post-race high following a slow, stiff and awkward morning run. Legs spent most of it arguing about which one was meant to go first... was it left, right, left or right, left, right? Definitely wasn't supposed to be both at the same time! Also miscalculated and ended up finishing a good mile from home, by the time I got back I wasn't feeling to good.
But look what was waiting for me in my email..... a race photo that was not only free but also the first one I haven't absolutely hated!!!

Nike is finally realizing that not all of us athletic wearers are a size 2!
"The athletic wear giant debuted curvy mannequins this week on the new women’s floor at its flagship store in London to showcase figures of all shapes and sizes. The women’s floor in its Oxford Street store features a plus-size mannequin front and center dressed in a black sports bra and matching leggings with her hands stretching above her head."

This link would be a good time to remind everyone, that on the internet - in general, do not read the comments. I am sure these will degrade quickly.2 -

Nice! I have those same shorts - pretty much my go-to for long runs and races now. They are so comfortable!2 -

Cloudy, mid-60s F and humid today. Intervals started off fairly well, but I faded a little toward the end. Guess that's why I need to do interval training.

They're good aren't they. Cheap and comfy. They're also the reason I have strange tan marks across the middle of my thighs lol1
