I was in at my local running store picking up electrolytes ... and was ogling the Hoka trail shoes. I've got a pair of Hoka road shoes and like them, and have been thinking about incorporating some trail running into the mix. I've done a bit of it and enjoyed it and there are trails near me.

Luci - I never got your message.

My weight is up after yesterday ... after teaching English in the morning a 11:30-3pm lunch dining out with a friend chatting a lot and then dinner with my sister. All my plans for exercising and eating right and drinking water went out the window.
Today my "normal" schedule has been throw off again since I talked my BIL that is 65 and a confirmed bachelor into getting his first colonoscopy. So I'm the driver and caretaker for the activity today.
My promise to myself is to drink water today (carrying water bottle in purse) and get a walk in as well at some point even if it is walking while he is in for the procedure!
Good luck to all of you with your healthy goals!

CW after healthy eating again 149.2 lost 2lbs from eating healthy already. Went over calories but was healthy items kale, nuts, cranberries, apples, granola things like that. Exercising too helped. Got to get back to 147 tho. Backs bent over like usual from picking JR up for Doctor to Truck so sore.No exercise until later today.

My stomach muscles feel alive y good after the exercise band. Was doing a slow motions up then down only 2lb band. Sticking with that for a long time. Hoping pinched nerve in back from JR releases if not then band can wait until tomorrow. Healing after surgery isn’t easy but it’s doable4 -
Sharon ~ I really, really admire your adventurous spirit and get-up-and-go attitude. I can barely make myself go to the local stores much less drive through mountains and visit places outside the US.

Hello ladies. Well it snowed yesterday here in West Virginia. Plowable snow but nothing like Rochester,NY snow. I have a lot of reading to do as I was on page 15 when I went to bed a couple of nights ago. Had a couple of HB eggs this morning. Now I have to get up the energy to go to the health center for my exercise. Have a super great day.

Tracey - That is so “cute” that your granddaughter chose that word. I don’t know that any of my sisters would give their kids permission to use that particular one in any case.
Sharon - My mother winters in south Texas and crosses the border for her dental work too. She is ecstatic that she can do that and she loves the dentist. I might have to put Oaxaca on my travel list. We have visas for 5.5 more months. We should put them to use!
Languages - What are you all using or have you used to learn a foreign language? I need to get on my goal to learn some Spanish.
Machka - Your shoe photo has motivated me to do some running shoe shopping again.
It is 44F right now. That is quite cold for this area for this time of year and this late in the day (7:40am). Should be in the mid 60s mid-day….still too cold for this area. We pay for warmth (75F) and sunshine. We feel cheated when we don’t get it. We are most certainly spoiled.
Have a great day, Ladies!

Rebecca: I hope that your Navy son contacts you regularly from now on. I’m so happy that you were able to talk with him.
Machka: Love the brain function chart!
I’m looking forward to yoga this morning. I need to share my new hospital parking strategy with some of my friends. We don’t have a hospital in our town. My bone density scan yesterday was done in NW Portland. The rule makers in the state said our little town didn’t qualify for a hospital a number of years ago. We have a great doctor & a lovely clinic here that is connected with the Good Sam hospital in Portland.

Hello Ladies!
My dizzy spells seem to have passed. I think it was some combination of congestion and migraine. Thanks for your support!
I use Duolingo to learn French and Spanish on my phone. It is very good for a free app. It's missing self expression in the target language because that is too hard to correct automatically. I do it on my phone. It makes a nice alternative to playing games.
Best wishes to you all,

Sharon, I have a friend who has gotten a LOT of dental work done in Mexico. She says she can get work done on her teeth and have a two week vacation for less than what the dental work alone would cost here. She's done that in the winter so she escapes gloomy, rainy weather for sunshine and beaches! Win, win in my books!
NYKaren, congrats on your two day streak!
I am at a one day streak, logged yesterday, haven't done that for a LONG time! Also officially weighed in, first time in not as long as the logging, but.... Anyway, up 3 lbs from the last time I did it, but that's okay. My eating was quite out of control for awhile! I went to the gym yesterday, did a really good workout. I haven't gone to the gym today yet, but I only work til 1:30 and my plan is to go after work. This allowed me to sleep in a bit. And I still managed to get my dishes done this morning! YAY! And now I must run or I will be late for work!
Hugs to those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!

ps, would love to send some of our rain to Aussie and California, but at the same time hoping that it gets the forests here wet enough to withstand a dry, hot summer5 -
Annie in Delaware - Thank you! I downloaded Duolingo and noticed I can also learn Klingon! That made me giggle.4

Hi Gals,
Happy Days to the Black Licorice Lovers! LOL
SuziQ – gorgeous pictures
Allie – that Doc is a nut case! You need to get out!
Machka - I love how you and DH figure out ways to get things done that work!
Luci – maybe taking a look at some of the recipes on skinnytaste.com would help.
I’ve been in a clean out mode for about a month, and am taking advantage of it - so in December/January I have taken 2 loads in the back of my CRV to our local large thrift shop the only thing limiting me is the amount of time I have to do the sorting. Every little bit helps. I’m not much of a “keeper” (my car fits in my garage) but it is easy to end up with more than you need.
Mom is doing better, thanks for all the good thoughts.

@ginnytez how are you feeling? you were a bit under the weather, right?
Surprisingly pleasant work lunch. We have annual lunch in the schools. The school that was once the most difficult was quite pleasant today.
Definitely went way over in eating yesterday. will be protesting again tomorrow afternoon if I'm not too exhausted.
Going to have class in the morning though. some teachers have been on strike non-stop for a month.1
