Heather,
Tom and his friend appear to be having too much fun going through the German ration pack. Who would have thought there would be Ration Pack Food Critics!

SuziQ - Much too much fun! You should have seen him with the French one! He always heads up the ration pack investigations on Facebook with 'this one's for my mum!'
He lives in Nottingham, so it's great that I get to see him regularly on Utube. Nice to see him happy. He spent several years with high anxiety and left a prestigious job.

Barbie: I hope that Jake is feeling better. :flowerforyou:
SuziQ: The critter is sunning itself on your fence is amazing.
Margaret: It seems that your thoughts about outer order are helping you be happier. WTG!
I’m having a low energy day and having trouble being warm enough inside my own home, which is kept at a comfortable temperature. I suspect I need to take today as a rest day.

Regarding Shingles Vaccinations - apparently they used to tell people that if they've had chicken pox or shingles once, they were immune. They've changed that as they've learned more. Apparently if you've had chicken pox, you're at risk of developing shingles and if you've had shingles you can get it again. It's a virus that remains in your system for life.

Regarding Menopause - They say: "Menopause is the point when a woman no longer has menstrual periods for at least 12 months."
In 2017, I started skipping periods and in 2018, I went 4 months without, then started again every 3 weeks or so for a while, then went 3 months, then back at it again every 3 weeks or so, and now I've gone 6 months. I just want it to end already!! I'll be 53 in a couple months!! And I've been perimenopausal for a decade now.

Regarding Hair Colour - I attend classes at uni where 99% of the students are from Asia, so perhaps the darker colour makes me blend in more. Plus I think when I've got a lot of blonde, it makes me look a bit older. I am toying with the idea of putting in a few highlights, but I'm not sure.

I had the shingles vax and then had shingles twice. Have since gotten the new Shingrix on the advice of my doctor. Hope this takes care of it. Not fun but no postherpetic nerve pain either which can be a complication with shingles and last up to 2 years.
So far it has hailed, snowed and rained here today. DD is at a painting class with DGD this afternoon. Hope they make it home safely.

Machka: I really like the auburn color on you. I used to color my hair which is about 8 inches shorter than yours. Kudos to you for being able to do this task on your own. I always found it a PIA, so now I'm just a sassy salt and peppa gal.
Katla: I'm kind of in a low energy mode, too. Maybe it's because of the full moon? I got my workout done, but have been very sedentary the rest of the day.
Barbara: Hope you enjoy the chili recipe.
SuziQ: That formal arrangement is gorgeous. Reminds me of what I used to buy when I lived in Hawaii.
Janetr: So glad to hear that your daughter is closer and surrounded with love.
Rebecca and KJ: Cuuuuuuute photos!!! Athena and Miguel have captured my heart.
Carol in GA: (((hugs)))
Michele: My birthday is on Tuesday and our 32nd anniversary is Friday. My brother just got a job offer (yay!), so until he is on payroll, I don't want him taking us out to eat. I honestly would just love a full afternoon of respite from care giving duties so I can do some leisurely shoe shopping and maybe go ice skating or to a movie. Not going to hold my breath. His anxiety and DH's dementia don't mix well.
Handyman Reuben will be here tomorrow to paint the master bath and add handrails to the tub area. We chose a mellow yellow color for this room because it doesn't have a window, and I like to walk into a room that evokes the feeling of sunshine. Then, I have a lunch date with my neighbor whose birthday is today. Weather here in the Denver area has been sunny and cool, but there is plenty of snow up in the mountains up the road from me.
Stay well friends. We can do this, and I am cheering you on.

Welcome everyone new!
Rori – happy early birthday and real early anniversary. I understand (well, not totally since I’m not in your shoes) how a wonderful birthday present would be just being able to go shopping by yourself.

Hey Sue, I have gotten both Shringrix shots. The first one left my arm red, hot, swollen for 2 1/2 wks. Hurt like heck when I’d forget while in shower. Got second shot, no issues at all.
Btw, this is my first post. I’m Karen in GA, by way of NJ, but born and raised on Staten Island, NY.
I just found this community. I may never find it again. Came across it looking for tips on using MFP.
Just started Monday, 1/6/2020. Lost 4 lbs. today went with another couple to an all u can eat sushi place. They charge if u leave the rice, and just eat the sashimi, when it’s nigiri they give u. Blew my carbs out of the water.
The program (MFP) and I chose lowish carbs - 38%. Ive done Atkins when I was younger, and hated the way I felt during induction. Anything less i eat now is better than the way I’ve been eating!
Today I hit 159 grams. Guess all that rice added up!
I’ll be 65 on the 28th. I am now cutting myself slack. If I’m reading a good book, and I’m not working, I may not get off the bed! I have a bad back. Laying on my side with a pillow between my legs is sooo comfortable. But the bed has to be made. I can’t be under the sheets! Can pull coverlet up, but that’s it. Weird, I know!
My mantra for the new decade and my big BD, is not to sweat the small stuff, if I fail today, maybe I’ll do better tomorrow, if not, I’ll try for the day after that! Today’s epic fail would have had me quitting the diet in the past, and running for my wine! That’s the only thing I miss, my savignon blanc. But with all the water I’m drinking, I’ll get over it!
Sorry y’all if this is TMI and in the wrong place!

Machka- Your making me miss Menopause y Post Menopause again. I miss no periods at all for years. Now I flood a lagoon need a pontoon!
Made homemade orange juice so tired 3QT worth from over 40 oranges squeezed. Exhausted 😩 poured a glass XL tall one for hubby y one large for me so only 1QT left lol 😂. But worth it healthy less calories great taste.
JR trying to convince me that he needs medication because he hurt his butt butt on a toy lol 😂. He’s wanting desitin butt creams for it . Dancing 🕺 to music while he asks lol. He’s going to be my glee club or acting classes in school kid.I’ll get to sit through long very long Drama class productions again. Watch kids who look sound bored reading lines sighing along as they read it. Lol JR will be that kid who over sells his lines. I’m not the sports mom anyways lol 😂 Sat through enough chess ♟ team tournaments to prove that! Drama club! JROTC! Computer competitions! Etc etc. Even sitting in the car waiting for hours as rehearsal goes over all the time. At least it will be a few years from now.

Lisa - I stopped eating dinner about 4 months ago (with some exceptions) and lost 8 pounds. It's really been the only way I've been able to lose weight and keep it off. However, I'm tired of it. I want to start eating dinner again, which means I'll have to have a shift in mindset about my current shape/weight. I'd like to be down another 3 pounds, but not eating dinner (when cooking is my hobby) is really not fun anymore.
So why not change the hours you fast? I follow intermittent fasting ...19:5. Fast 19 hours eat in a five hour window. I love to cook and try new recipes so my window of eating is between 2-7:00 pm. All the benefits of fasting and still able to cook (and taste).5 -

Welcome here @karencpnp795 ... if you click the star off to the right, above the search magnifying glass (which will be blank for you right now) and turn it yellow (like in the image below), you'll find this place again.

I am so happy many of you said low energy today too! Just caught up reading. I cooked breakfast, made bed, and combed Sara for 30 mins. Didn't even get dressed until headed out to dinner with friends. Just couldn't do it today. Tomorrow is a new day!
Trying to eat yogurt every day. Have cotton lined underwear, but will pick up all cotton tomorrow. Love the suggestion of blower drier down yonder! Migraines....I am on Fioricet. Normally works great. Just not October and November. Weather changes.
Came home Friday night to find I got called to jury duty in February and apparently we never received an invoice for insurance premium on one of our rental properties-smh.....Thank goodness I could pay online! If I didn't get invoice in mail, I am not going to trust post office to get a check to insurance company in a timely manner.
Welcome to the new ladies!
Hugs to all!
Cheers to a more productive week!
It is Barrett Jackson week, so will need to find ways to get movement in.

I do it over two days.
I divide my hair in two. On Day 1 I do the dark, dark brown underneath. On Day 2 I do the redder colour on top. It takes about half an hour each day for prep work and doing it, then an hour to set.
And I do it about once a year ... in the middle of the year I use a new product I've discovered (whether I've just newly discovered it or whether it is new, I'm not sure) that is for roots. I get the medium auburn and just do my roots.

Rebecca - Athena is beautiful.
SuziQ- I am within walking distance of my job and was quite looking forward to it. This is what I learned. I don’t like carrying my purse or anything when I’m walking for exercise and I can’t take a lunch or shoes or whatever without my purse. So I’ll need a backpack which I hate. I also hated how sweaty I was when I arrived at work.
Rori - my bathroom is painted yellow, I just love it. The colour is called Banff Sun.
I hope you get a respite day soon. I know how important they are to any caregiver. Congratulations to your brother.
It was an interesting day around our place. I slept in this morning and shortly after I woke up Rodger tells me out water is frozen. Turns out it was only partially frozen and after about 4 hours we found the solution that worked to get it going. One of the things we were told was to crank out furnace to allow the underneath of the trailer to get warm. It was mighty hot in here. Once the water got going I turned the furnace back down. It was about 4 hours again and we realized our furnace hadn’t turned on. We tried to get it going but it wouldn’t go. So we called a company who within an hour of our call came and had it running. They will send the bill tomorrow. I’m a little anxious about that.
I was going to go to work today for a few hours but decided against it. I will regret it tomorrow but I’ll get through it.
