terri love your 20 for 20 goals

Rori a day to oneself is a gift for sure. I am a big fan of soft-yellow paint color for bathroom. In another year or two we will have to repaint and I will be looking for that kind of yellow-our current yellow isnt quite right-some kind of green undertone I think.

This month we also will mark our 23rd wedding anniversary and my 58th b-day DH turns 57–we share a birthday and got married on that same day! Eloped to city hall —

Lisa I'm guessing your 14-year-old son-in-law took a lot of pleasure from putting both his mother & his python into fight-or-flight mode.

Tracey Sorry your furnace got cranky after it worked so hard to thaw your pipes. I hope the bill isn't too exorbitant. Heat in the wintertime is good.

Irregular/sporadic food intake upsets almost any small dog's GI system, even the healthy ones, so it's not surprising your little Pom is having problems. We faced this with Farley & now with Bailey, our heart-failure ruptured-disc doggie. He is a Coton. Our routine now is to offer small amounts of preferred foods several times a day. He almost always turns his nose up. If we use a spoon with a small amount of food & put it into his mouth so he can get a taste of it, he might eat after he realizes it's yummy. Of course he has to spit out the bite we put in his mouth first; a doggie has to maintain dignity somehow. We offer all kinds of things; pureed baby food meats, sweet potato, egg yolk, liverwurst, finely chopped chicken, pressure-cooked bones (soft not splintery), tiny pieces of nitrate-free lean bacon, yogurt, cheese, potato or chicken chewies. Greenies. He only rarely has an appetite for his kibble any more, & in fact, has a hard time with most things that can't be reduced to a finely chopped consistency, because his heart has enlarged so much it is compressing his trachea & esophagus & food sometimes gets stuck in his esophagus. Then he suddenly stops eating & gets an alarmed expression & I gently stroke his neck area & talk to him until it resolves. It's a project. CBD oil daily does seem to help with his overall sense of well-being & his appetite. It helped Farley with his appetite & mobility, too.

Cotons get whiter as they age, which is why Bailey had the cinnamon-colored markings on his face when he was a puppy, but is white now. His birth name was Cinnamon.

Looking forward to the first full week of our new routine. Learning coach for 13-year-old grandson MWF & babysit 2-month-old Lilliana TTh & maybe Wednesday afternoon! My partner & I put together an IKEA changing station over the weekend & we love it. It now has a prominent place in our dining room, LOL!!! What are dining rooms good for, anyway?

I see that some of you may have had severe storms the last couple of days. We had balmy weather yesterday but I was at work so didn't really get to enjoy it. Someone asked (Lanette maybe?) if I was completely retired yet. Still working Sundays. Probably will retire or go to prn status in September. I can be on my spouse's insurance plan when my employer-provided medical insurance ends.

I came home yesterday to tales of woe from my poor partner. She is still non-weight bearing on her R foot after Achilles tendon repair. She was trying to do a load of laundry while I was gone & she accidentally washed the dog's disposable diaper which has that absorbable gel in it. OMG.

About Macchu Picchu - no one and I mean no one could be worse with heights than me.

I can't go up a step ladder! The thing about the site is that it is terraced, so you don't get that vertigo feeling of a steep drop. I only remember feeling a little bit wobbly edging round the corners, but on the whole I was fine. There was always a level below me. It is really ok. I suppose you will be with some kind of guide? I was with someone who explained things, in a small group.

I visited my website in progress (not active yet) this morning when I woke up early. Failed to do anything at all.

Then I researched a few other writer's sites to see what was on there. No idea what to put on there. Then I realised I didn't have enough info and pics to hand. So I am going to dig out my old cv. I also trawled through some pics and created a file for possible ones to use. I have more to look at, but at least I've made a start. So I am in research mode.
I really only want it so people and media can get in touch with me. There is an email forwarding service on it.
Baby steps.

is Better Bones and Balance exercise class at our local community college. Our instructor “coach Ken” treats it like an individualized training in a group environment. He’s everywhere guiding, correcting, encouraging each of us individually. We are all at very different levels, so for each exercise he has alternatives for those of us with artificial parts or other challenges. Each day we focus on a different plane of movement, Mondays forward (sagittal?), Wednesdays sideways (lateral), Fridays turning (rotational). I find the class hard, but not impossible. Takes effort and I feel it immediately. Don’t get sore afterward. We use body weight, small hand weights, step platforms, resistance bands, yoga mats and our chairs. The goal is to retrain our nervous systems to better react when we start to fall, to immediately lower our center of gravity, flex knees, load back into hips, all to minimize falls and their damage. Side benefits improve bone density, strengthen core and stability muscles to prevent falls in the first place. We start where we are and each day he makes it a little more challenging. He is absolutely the best personal trainer I’ve met. I’m amazed at myself for attending most all classes last semester, and for re-upping this semester. Who’d’ve thunk it?

I've had my website since 2002 so I have heaps of content. I'm in the process of switching it all over to Wordpress and into a nice, easily accessible format.

But some advice I've been given in the Wordpress meetings I've attended is this ...

If you are going to have a site on, say, travel ... there are much, much bigger sites than yours which will have cornered that market and when people do a search on travel, yours will appear on page 47 and hardly anyone will see it. If you are going to get closer to the top of the searches, you've got to be unique in some way. So your focus might be cruise travel ... but even that won't be unique enough, so maybe cruise travel for people over 70 in northern Europe. What I'm saying is that whatever your topic is, try to bring a unique spin to it.

You might also consider doing some blogging on your site's topic. Create your main page(s) and then create blogs as posts ... if that is how your software is set up. You don't have to go crazy with the blogging, but a blog post once in a while on a topic related to your main topic can indicate that you're current and that this is an active site.

Morning, afternoon and evening, all...

The weight loss continues... Do your remember the old TVs that you had to wiggle the rabbit ears antenna on the top, stand on one foot and hope really hard in order to get the station to come in? I feel like that about my weight loss at the moment... Just doing the same things each day and hoping it continues.

On January 6, I was 211.5, this morning, one week later, 205.2. Not restricting what I eat, nor servings, although I know I'm eating less than I was, as I'm just not hungry the vast majority of the time. I wait to eat until I get hungry in the morning, usually 8 or 9 a.m., and after 3 or 4 p.m., I just don't eat anymore. About 8 p.m., I eat a few bites of something to pad my evening medications. And no, I haven't started on Wellbutrin yet. May just wait to start taking it until this weight loss slide stops. Which it will... but until it stops or reverses itself, I'm not changing ANYthing.

I feel scared talking about it, as if I'll jinx it.

Or my rabbit ears will fall down the rabbit hole again.

Allie, I haven't said lately - but I find you amazing and wonderful. The person you were years ago would have never considered going to Machu Picchu, but you fought your way clear of Tom's shadow and became an amazing, adventurous woman with drive and surrounded by friends. Love seeing all this happen to you and in you. You're a wonder, girl, and I'm incredibly proud of you!

Heather, you'll be glad to know that I've taken your advice, and will be ordering an elliptical delivered next week, once we're back from Kansas. It's the device that has always worked best for me, and the one I gravitate to in the gym, and when I told my husband I was thinking about returning to the gym, he suggested we buy one, and he'll set it up for me. He didn't like me driving down the mountain in the rain and the dark every day, and it is that time of day year round (well, dark, not necessarily raining).

Regarding the snake, Katla, I feel the same way you do--supposedly, the eyes have turned a bit hazy, so the thing is about to shed its skin, and no one in the family is picking it up right now, as they get "aggressive" when they're pre-shed. One can only hope they're still afraid to pick it up while I'm there. Gah. And Karen in VA, yes, he acts EXACTLY like a 14-year-old. Some men never grow up, and he's one of them. As a dad, he seems to be lots of fun, and he understands discipline, as well. As a husband, he's much-loved by my daughter. However, as a son, he treats his mama with zero respect. He will only try it with me once.

Off to the races, kids. I slept 8 straight hours (getting the whole sleeping thing down quite well these days, too, wonder if it's connected?) and have a couple grants that need writing!

Thanks so much for telling me about Farley. Our pom was always large for pomeranians and weighed 16# before this illness took over. He now weighs 14# or less which the vet said is like humans losing a LOT of weight. He told us that with Cushings disease that the heart going is what kills most of the dogs. Your advice put that in a new perspective for me. I am going to feed him tiny bits of finely chopped chicken several times today and for each day he stays with us. He would never eat any type of canned or dry dog food or treats. I have cooked his food for the last 10 yrs. I can't stop crying and know I need to act more maturely about this.

Machka - the site is just about me, with my name as the domain, so that media etc can get in touch with me if they want me to give a talk, write an article, do a podcast. Because I no longer have a normal publisher there is no contact point for me. I'm not intending to blog or anything, although I guess you never know! It will basically be a cv and description of what I can offer with some photos. The most important thing for me is that they forward emails to my Inbox. If someone has read my memoir and wants to contact me I can put the website on my Author Page on Amazon.
I would like to put a few old photos on there to supplement the memoirs. People can link to there from the books. It's easier than putting photos into the books.

Awww Lisa,thank you.. love you too girlfriend..
In the last few years. I have learned I dont need a man to make me happy,I have great friends and a wonderful family and am truly blessed.
Being able to love this way has alot to do with forgiveness.. I forgave Tom for his indiscretions and poor Elena probably didnt know he was cheating on his wife... she is the type who would be mortified..and I would never spoil our friendship by sharing that..
Heather I watched tons of YouTube videos of Machu Picchu yesterday. And yes it will be the rainy season.. I have lightweight hiking shoes and moisture wicking socks that will hopefully keep me dry.. I am a way ahead of time person so once I get it all figured our will be packed way ahead of schedule.. not only that but getting excited about the cruise in October..
Packed my lunch and had my tea and will go and get Homer out before going to work...
Tomorrow i have to go and get signed up for pre TSA boarding.. have to pay 85.00 for 5 years .but its alot less hassle flying..

Well I managed to get through yesterday within my calorie limit. Got on the scale this morning and I am down another .6 pounds. So I have lost 4.6 pounds since last week. I imagine it will slow down soon. I don’t want to lose too fast.
Not too bad hunger wise. When I start to get hungry around 3 pm I drink 3 cups of water. It seems to stem the hunger.

Barbara- Add when kids occupied making a mess with blocks to hubby sleeping yes can get everything done lol 😂.

Somehow found a pair of sz4 boys pants in the closet 2 of them hiding from the hive away bag! Couldn’t fit him if we tried everyone says how small is pants are if a pair accidentally gets put on. I still need to root through the summer clothes once summer hits. Getting JR to try in clothes is a fight I’m not ready for so I wait until the season try on a few find what fits get rid of what’s smaller than that as I go. Then 1 mass clean out here y there to root them all out if can.

CW 149.2 fluctuations ranging from 147-149.2 per day . Hoping to zoom down soon.

Looking forward to the last glass of orange juice I made from my tree. So sweet natural nothing added can’t beat it. A nice boost to root out any bugs trying to attack the immune system.

JRs willing to try new foods now! Yesterday he tried an orange slice,sliced cheese (used to have to be shredded or no go,y spaghetti ,
Sugarfree ice cream. Finally he’s realizing the same food every day isn’t exciting for anyone. Lol 😂 hopefully his taste buds can grow now.Helped seeing sister eating foods saying NO I’m Mommy’s baby! Lol 😂 she knows how to goat him on siblings always do.

Machka: I had the Shingrix vaccinations but DH refuses. I hope he doesn’t end up regretting it. My auntie had shingles in the last months of her life. It was horrible for her.

Terri: I like your 20 goals for 2020.

Karen in VA: DH and our dog both enjoy the benefits of CBD oil. They find it is very helpful at reducing pain/discomfort. We’ve been buying ours at ACE Hardware. Safeway sells it too, but they charge a bit more and don’t always have the strength we want. DH puts his dose into coffee, and the dog gets his on a cookie.

I’m looking forward to my yoga class today. I also have an open invitation to go riding at the stable. Arrow could use a bit of attention. Timing of the visit will depend on my energy level and the weather. I'm not a ball of energy this morning so I don't plan to go to the stable today.

The results of my bone density scan came back showing a bit of osteopenia. Doctor says she’s keeping me on bone density meds. :ohwell:

I painted our basement Daylight by Shewin Williams and love it! It is a soft yellow I do not notice any green undertones. I did use the low votive version because there is no air flow there and hard to open windows. I did have to use more because of using the low votive. I think a roller would have given me better coverage too. It really brightened up our basement. In that section of the basement there are no windows so it needy a cheery color.

Oooh Thanks Margaret, I will look up that color. My summer project list is growing and I'm getting excited about that. So far I have:

--throw a party for my daughter and niece (both graduating college) and my DOS who is retiring, thinking open house type garden party

--have my soil tested and my friend who is a master gardener will come over and help me plan for a better veg planting this year

--clear out the basement and repaint the garage floor

--paint the basement stairs

--paint the bathroom, perhaps "daylight" by Sherwin Williams, it sounds like just the right color!

There is nothing quite like a summer project list, I don't always get to complete everything but it is fun to dream about nicer weather and free time.

KarenVA I can't say our elopement was romantic, we had the license already so we knew we were going to get married, we just looked at each other and said why not do it on our Birthday?! So we headed out after both working that morning, city hall is a short walk from our house and we got hitched! Still felt pretty nervous and serious while the judge was speaking, my hands were shaking when we exchanged the vows, and hey I guess it STUCK cause we're still together for a total of 30 years-married 23. We did throw a party in the spring with family and friends but we just arent the type to have a lot of fuss or ritual. The good thing is we can never forget the date cause it's on our birthday, don't even exchange gifts, we're pretty low key! We may go out to dinner to celebrate and on our 25th we want to take a special trip, but we'll see how that shakes out.
