I think it is healthy to have some caution and concern about it. I seriously can't be bothered, I feel like I'm pretending I'm invincible right now. I think it's easier because I work from home most days and don't interact with the general public often.4 -

Yes, I'm prone to anxiety and intrusive thoughts, but this just feels sensible. I just take my temperature once in the afternoon and then I'm able to let go of the worry, so it doesn't feel maladjusted.4 -

@bearly63
that wouldn't surprise me. Since the milder version looks similar to other illnesses and there wasn't an active test for it or even a realization they needed to be testing for it, it does make you wonder how prevalent it actually is in our country.3 -
I'm willing to hop on board the "This is how the zombie apocalypse starts" conspiracy train, but I'm kicking myself for slacking on my workouts the last few months now.
You have a couple weeks to work on cardio in order to evade the corona-zombie hordes.
Remember to buy supportive running shoes, warm up and cool down properly!3 -

I wish I would've known about the virus last year when I booked my cruise lol Oh well. As long as I wash my hands constantly and use hand sanitizer I should be alright. Norwegian Cruise Line has been keeping us pretty informed of all of the steps they're taking in response to the virus. They're not messing around lol
Not to fearmonger, but the air filtration systems are also part of the issue on cruise ships. Air goes from cabin to cabin, with outside air being mixed with inside air. The filters aren't fine enough to pick up the virus (unlike planes, which recirculate air, but have filters than can keep the virus out of the air).

Definitely good to know! Unfortunately, there's not much I can do about that now lol I can't cancel my reservation and receive a refund because I'm sailing in 8 days, plus I don't meet their criteria for being eligible for a refund.
I'm just going to cough as loud as possible to try and keep people away from me as much as possible lol
Might not be a good plan if you end up stuck out at see quarantined because the officials think you have it. If you do it before you get on the ship they will send you home.
She will be right. If checked by the doctor there would be no temperature and you can simply say that something went down the wrong way! I have just returned from overseas and while in transit it was amazing how much extra room a cough from someone I was travelling with gave.
I'm still coughing from my pneumonia (over a month ago now), and given a wide berth in public. I feel I have to explain myself everywhere I go.
People do not avoid me nearly enough. They jibber jabber at me nonstop. I need to stop showering.
Consider facial tattoos. If necessary, thematically scary ones.

When my brother's antipsychotics stopped working a few years back, he got a lot of tattoos, including a little one on his face (which he has since removed) and a big one on his neck. It did make people avoid him.
Unfortunately, because of his illness, he got in to some legal trouble and the tattoos worked against him in the court system.7 -

Knock on wood, but so far Michigan hasn't had any confirmed cases yet, so nobody has been emptying out shelves. I'm pretty bad, I don't really prepare well because Northern Michigan so rarely has events that cause people to empty shelves. Knock on wood.
I'm still waiting to see if the music group I'm seeing in Texas in late April is going to cancel their concert because of it. They've just left Korea and are in Europe for the first leg of the tour. Most of the fans are worried most for the Paris concert, since the outbreak is much worse there. Who knows what it'll be like when April rolls around though.
I work for a company involved with live touring, we're seeing tons of concert & festival cancellations1 -
my dad was just admitted to the hospital. two weeks of flu symptoms, dipping oxygen levels, difficulty breathing. there haven't been any confirmed cases in my area yet. i'm trying not to get scared here but *kitten* it might end up hitting me close to home after all.38

There's been a run on hand gel but the news said you can make your own with some rubbing alcohol and aloe vera gel, a little essential oil if you want a fragrance.
2/3 cup 99 percent rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) or ethanol.
1/3 cup aloe vera gel.
8 to 10 drops essential oil, optional.

I see a lot of adults at work putting their fingers in their mouths - this after touching buttons in the elevator and door handles is a really efficient way to get infected with viruses and germs. I feel like saying "stop it!" like I do when I catch one of my kid's doing it, lol.
Then there are the people who still cough into their hand....8 -
We are creatures of habit. Chewing on pencils, stirring coffee with a pencil at work, sharing the same pen at the grocery store, scratching noses, rubbing our lips with the back of our hands after shaking hands. It's a total cluster.6

It held on a lot longer than the typical flu, and even once the fever left, the dry cough lingered. some folks are still coughing and its been almost a month now since they had it. Come to think of it, they did have respiratory problems and some folks ended up in the hospital with pneumonia from it - the older folks with weakened lungs. At one point, over half our church was out - the pastor actually canceled a service because of it.
Makes me kind of wonder now......
I 100% believe that we have no idea when the true first patient with Covid-19 was in the US or the true number of people who have had the virus. Until recently the US didn't have the test kits to test people, even if they matched the symptoms. Plus, for a lot of people, this is a fever and a cough and nothing "worth" going to the doctor or hospital for. They stick it out, go to work, live their normal lives. It's also why I think the mortality rate is actually lower then what they are saying worldwide. The statistics are going to be off because a mild to moderate case most likely is not going to be accounted for.8 -

I love it when you hand someone a report, they lick their fingers over and over while turning each page, then they hand it back to you. Nah, you go ahead and keep that copy, I will print another one, lol5 -

My question is, how does a person acquire this nasty habit in the first place? I have never in my life had the urge to lick my fingers to help separate papers.
But then again, I've never had the urge to put a burning stick in my mouth and inhale the fumes, either.3 -
This thread has better information and clearer guidelines than most conversations I listen to these days. We live two miles from the first reported case in OR (a week ago). I had no idea that people went bananas that night. I ended up at the store on Sunday night and the shelves were cleared out. The staff looked like they'd been through the wringer. People told me that lines at Costco were 100 people deep. It's nuts. Kind of like what happens if someone says the word "snow" around here.
I'm worried about my parents because they're old, but other than that, I think people with a mild case are probably walking around among us, unaware. I'm still going where I need to go (gym, theater, public transportation, etc) but washing my hands everywhere.
We were hoping to send our 17 year old to Europe for a language camp in August. We need to get her signed up and buy the airline tickets, but my fear is if this goes full tilt and she gets quarantined on her way back into the US. Not fair to have her alone, stuck somewhere for two weeks.3 -

Yeah, she's a contradiction. I'd rather not imply hypocrite because it doesn't appear to be a conscious act, it's habitual.1 -

I don't know but then again, I don't lick envelopes and/or stamps either.0 -

I'd fear her getting sick instead of the quarantine. If she's still a minor at the time, she'll be taken care of as any unaccompanied minor'd otherwise be by staff.0
