Quick goooooood morning!
I skimmed and will catch up soon. Pumpkin, my outdoor cat, finally returned this morning! Makes my heart happy! My dog Ginger pouts when her porch buddy isn’t around.
I’m taking a silversmithing course. Day 1 was yesterday. We made earrings and today / tomorrow we’re making a ring!
The house we’re remodeling for my middle kiddo is almost ready! They’ll be about 50 minutes away after they move. Being closer to a bigger town will be nice for them. It’s been so lovely having them to see daily. I’m going to miss having her close.
Katla Big hugs and praying for your DH’s healing.

For the most part, over the past 4+ years, I've tried to focus on the 3rd choice: "choose one problem to solve" ... and solve it. And the 6th choice: "keep busy".fanncy0626 wrote: »We know all about your husband his accident ...
Many times I have wished I could talk to someone ALL about my husband's accident. I've told people little snippets here and there. Quick summaries. On FB, I've posted applicable memes now and then. But I've never sat down with someone and poured my heart out. I've never told anyone all about my husband's accident.
The 4th choice above is: "talk it out - speak to someone you trust about how you are feeling". I have not been able to do that over the past 4+ years and I'm not sure I ever will. By this point, I'm not sure how beneficial it would be. I don't know that it would change anything or help anything.
Meanwhile, today, I have more or less focused on the 1st choice ... things I am grateful for and things in my control. I've slept - for which I am very grateful. I'm comfortably watching the Tour de France - which I enjoy. And I've tidied half the house and have gotten a few things done - things in my control.

Love that Machka. Especially the shading on the leaves. I'm not sure why I can't bring myself to pick up a grown-up coloring book, but I think it has something to do with my inability to stay within the black lines.

Love y'all,

Thanks!
I don't entirely stay within the lines either. For one thing, I use pens and sometimes they bleed out of the lines. Other times, I just get carried away.
Then I try to rectify the situation which is all right sometimes, but other times it's like trying to trim the leg of a chair to ensure the chair doesn't rock ... and you end up with a chair with no legs.
I'm working on a mother and baby elephant, all in shades of grey. But I'm tempted to add another colour in there.
It's something I work on for a few minutes now and then throughout my evenings. Helps relax my brain a little.

My brother rang this morning. He hadn't got my message about covid, and I hadn't got his about coming to visit. He is hoping to come over for one or two nights with his wife this week. I said, I thought I could only manage one night.
DH is at cricket all week. I actually was looking forward to having the house to myself. I can’t do Monday or Tuesday anyway. I love my brother and his wife very much and we get on very well, but I'm still low in energy. Luckily, my cleaner is coming tomorrow! Also they are very easy going and have zero housekeeping standards!. It's just a matter of making up a couple of single beds.
I actually think it will be fine, but I'm not signing up for two nights. Food will be eating out, or delivery. DH doesn't get back until 7.30 on cricket days, so he will have to scavenge.
Surprisingly, DH has decided to go to his old friend's funeral Monday week!!! It's in North London and he hates the tube. Nevertheless, he is going to make the effort. It might still be a heatwave, but it might have broken by then.
I did a tiny bit of gymming this morning for the first time since we've been back and popped out to buy a newspaper. Nothing else, apart from food prep.
I'm very near to finishing unpacking my suitcase. It's on the ground floor, in DH'S study, and I'm bringing up a bit at a time. Nearly done. I may eat a Mars bar ice-cream for my snack. One of my guilty pleasures.
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Our ONE day actually off yesterday and we went to the Akron Zoo. Had a GREAT time. Hunter was totally enthralled with EVERYTHING. He loves animals. Ran the entire time and still had energy. Dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse was a highlight as we don't have those in MN and we haven't been to one since Anne was stationed on the East Coast.
Anne's at practice this morning and we're doing the D2-3 game tonight, then OUR BIG GAME tomorrow!!!

Surgery went better than I thought. They did take the bone spur out. Not much pain- I’m surprised and thankful!
I was more stressed about the psychiatrist appointment than the surgery but glad all is done. My psych asked me if I had support people/group- I couldn’t think of anything. But I now have my brains back and have everyone on here and a couple other friends not physically close but a phone call away. I am so thankful for all. I’m more blessed then I thought. I need to start a grateful journal.

My luck, I would get someone like an Inga, or Helga (no offense to anyone with that name), but it implies a large German lady that could whip my muscles into another realm. Again no disrespect to Germans, to the masseuse trade, or to large ladies of German persuasion.
Ahhh 12 hours, good on ya! Recharging is the best!
After 20 days away from products that aren't mine shower wise, it was nice to use what is mine, and rub my coconut oil from forehead to toes! I was a bit heavy handed, so managed to get some on my freshly shampooed hair. Its now day two, and my hair "looks" greasy but its not really dirty. My skin though is quite happy!

It does remind me that I actually did want to create SOMEthing while Corey's away. To my knowledge, I don't have to be anywhere until I go to the airport to pick him up next week, so can't use scheduled calls or labs to give me an excuse. I have stretched canvas in a number of sizes to paint, and lots of paint, etc. I have all I need for four different projects, and haven't started any of them. I've been deadline driven all my working life, especially when I edited newspapers for a living. I think I'm missing it. At the same time, I'm balking at self-imposed deadlines, and I love the fact that I don't have to do anything if I don't want to.
Is a puzzlement:

Happy Saturday Ladies!
Carla - that zoo looked like a lot of fun, glad you all could go. We used to have Black Angus steakhouses in Seattle, not sure if they are still there. Great food as I recall. We are rooting for Anne and her team!
Heather - very glad to hear you and John are feeling better and getting some energy back. I'm with you on one-night-only visitors. Your brother and SIL sound like they are easy to get along with, which helps.
Security AlarmsDo any of you have door security alarms? I just watched a YouTube video about home security, which recommends having some type of door or window alarm (even cheap ones). Add that to some YouTube videos about neat stuff to get at the Dollar Tree, which included little alarms. Will check the store next time I'm in there and if they have them, pick up one or two. Anything loud enough to surprise a bad guy plus trigger the Rosie alarm will be good I think. Here's a peek at the Dollar Tree ones- I see Amazon has them, more expensive, with mixed reviews:

Do It On A Dime - Dollar Tree stuffI spent an hour last night watching these YouTube videos. Not sure about all of her suggestions, but for $1.25 at Dollar Tree, I found some worth trying out. I think she's in cahoots with Dollar Tree, lol. Which is fine.

I whipped down to the gas station at 5:30 this morning and got some gas for the mower. It was $.50 a gallon more expensive than in town, but I only got 3 gallons which should tide me over for a while.
Rocket StoveI was poking around in the big closet in the the garage where we packed a lot of stuff over the years. I came across a coffee can rocket stove, homemade by someone who was selling them at a craft fair. Think I paid $5. I see commercially manufactured ones cost a lot more. Being farm kids who had to cobble stuff together rather than run into town and spend money we didn't have, I thought it would come in handy if the power went out and we ran out of propane. Anyhow, I determined I needed some screen for the top so I could rest a can of soup - the existing opening is too wide.
So I went into DH's shop and looked around at his "collection". Within a minute I found left over 1/2" screen and his wire snips and cut a chunk that fits nicely. I also found a lot of other little gems in a couple minutes. Metal detector, Dremel. I wonder what else is out there I can play with when I'm bored.
Here's a video about making a rocket stove if anyone gets the urge:

That's the latest. Waiting for it to warm up a little then want to start stripping paint off the front door. It's been letting loose in places over the past couple years and really needs to be repainted. If I don't get to it today, there's always tomorrow. Or the day after that, lol. Retirement!
Make it a fabulous weekend!!

Last night I took some leftover pinto bean broth from the freezer. They were in ice cube shapes in a ziplock, like my chicken brotg. The last time I made pinto bean soup with a ham hock, I had leftovers of 2 jars of soup with beams and meat, and 1 jar of just broth. Using that last night made a quick meal. I just fried up some cubed ham in bacon drippings, and added the frozen broth with a new can of pinto beans (didn't drain the can). It was delightful. 2 bowls for husband, and 1 bowl for me. We had marionberry pie for dessert.💖. We had wandered to Haggens, a whole food type grocery store, and I had looked for my Braggs ACV shots I had seen online. Thought that would be cool to have, convenience wise, but they didn't have them. Husband found the pie. I did find ACV with ginger and honey and tea blend in a drink. Will try that today.
Also, my flower husband had waiting for me when I got home. He had bought it on 30th, but my bus was cancelled so I had to wait until the 4th to get home. (More Athena time), and husband kept it alive the whole time. Sweet guy.💖

Lanette --
My mom has a security system on her house, and if the door opens when the alarm is set, alarms start going off until you give the security company the password. My son set it off accidently one day a few years ago, and it was quite traumatic for him -- with the alarm and the security people yelling, and then the police showing up. He was so embarrassed, and we were all just a block away kayaking on the lake. Lol
Anyway, she pays about $35 a month for the service, but we have been thankful she had it. It comes with a personal panic button, which she wears like a watch on her left wrist. She has pushed it a couple times, including this last time when she fell.
