Writer, artist, and podcast host Debbie Millman on busyness:
"Busy is a decision. We do the things we want to do, period. If we say we are too busy, it is just shorthand for the thing being "not important enough" or "not a priority." Busy is not a badge. You don’t find the time to make things, you make the time to do things."

I went back to work when my son was barely 3 mos old. The first year was fine because he was in a day care center and was loved by the care giver. After that, due to changed circumstances, I had to move him to two other centers. It broke my heart every time I dropped him off because he would cry like crazy. Then I cried all the way to work.

Rita - I'm all for photos that make us happy, but after this is over, I want explanations, dadgummit. It's killing me not to explain, and I want to know what's making everyone else happy too!
Heather - So glad the visit with your brother and DSIL was good... you're a consummate hostess. I treat my guests like I treat my houseplants. Benign neglect. If they can survive that and want to come back (or survive in the case of the houseplants), then I'm all for it...
I am happy... went on a three-hour writing jag, and probably have half the content I need to get this website/blog into publication. Yes, I will share it as soon as I put it published, but I'm still fixing the pages and learning the program the hard way, by doing. Right now, I'm feeling quite virtuous at just having written at all. Yesterday was another duck-and-dodge day, but today has been good.
Onward and upward,
Much love,

Machka--Last year I sent my calendars to Rebecca. She uses them to make envelopes and things for her penpals. I don't think your sharing your cleaning and sorting is boring. It gives me ideas about my office/spare room.
Katla--Geat news about DH moving closer. I pray he does well and is able to move back with you soon.
Trace--Glad you were not hurt when you fell. It is getting that time of year again, so we all need to watch for ice.
Heather--What an interesting event DSIL had. Sometimes those are the best. Lots of time we will take off for the day headed in once direction and end up somewhere else and always an adventure.
Rebecca--Love the turtle outfits, so cute and of course Athena is the head turtle.
A cold and rainy day, wish I was home curled up with a blanket, the fur babies and a book. But working. Rumor this morning is that they are going to let us take the masks off unless in direct patient contact. I sure hope so as I am so tired of this.

As usual, worked then went to Aldi, then WalMart. Newcomer bowling tonight (Wed)
M – I, too, can hardly believe it’s been 4 years!!!!
Worked today (Thurs). When I got there, was Jerry ever drunk! And I do mean drunk! Addie (one of the managers) said that he didn’t come to work drunk but he went across the street to the ABC store and bought beer and sat outside BK and drank it. Well, he wasn’t on the clock when he drank it. But I didn’t think the ABC store opened that early. I’m thinking that he brought it with him. When I got there Angel was trying to sober him up by giving him something to eat and coffee. He was shuffling his feet. Just the look in his eyes! As the morning went on, tho, it seemed he went back to normal. You probably are asking “why do they keep him on?”. I honestly don’t know. As far as I know, he’s been there something like 20 years. I know that it’s not easy finding someone who will clean the bathrooms, etc. Perhaps they have an agreement with Connections to have one of their residents employed there. Connections is for people with emotional problems. You have to be at least 18 to go there. Whatever the reason...I don’t know, and really don’t care.
Don’t even think about giving me coffee. Can’t stand the stuff. To me it is so bitter. Now tea. I really very seldom have iced tea, although I’ll drink it (unsweetened). Hot tea all winter. Do you know that in the 14 years we’ve lived in NC, I have never once had sweet tea?
Tracey – I’m so sorry you fell and hope it gets better fast
pip – nice vehicle. I really like the blue
I do feel that my grandparents raised me. Of course, not having a mother, I spent A LOT of time with them. It’s interesting to see how they influenced me. They raised a family during the depression. To this day, when I get to the end of a jar (like spaghetti sauce), I can still see my grandmother putting water in the jar and saying “we paid for that”.
How I wish I could see my grandson more than a few days/year! But I’m so glad so many of you are. There is no way I want to move back north unless I absolutely have to.
Rebecca – (((HUG))) dear heart
Did a load of laundry because all 4 of my BK shirts were dirty. I really like having 4. 6 would be even better. Maybe I’ll find someone else who is no longer working there ….lol
Better get a move on.

Happy for you, Lisa. Nothing like getting some writing under your belt,
I put everything into my visitors, and then I'm knackered. They brought DH'S birthday present plus our Christmas presents. I'm not doing Christmas presents, apart from the grandchildren, but I said I would contribute to their local foodbank. That made them happy.
Edie has done her 1 k swim. Very tired, but very happy. She has raised over £60 for Alzheimers.

Challenges for DH, and our DD. She will help DH transition to a new Nursing Home that will be closer to the family, only 30 minutes away. I know she is headed to see him at the hospital. I hope all goes well.6

DD has headed to the hospital to meet with the doctor. I hope the meeting is good. We want DH to be in an excellent Nursing Home near to our family. It appears DD has found a good doctor & place. 💖4

Those vintage cards remind me of a set of books I have ,that were my dads growing up,called the book house books.i think they were published in the early 1920s and my mom read to us kids out of all of them...also the Burgess Bird book for children..when we were out visiting the 2 older grandaughters i would have that book with me and read to them from it,and they always looked forward to it.. and I bet if I asked them now they would remember.. as my mom used to say making memories.
In my moms last days I read to her ftom both of those books as she had done for us..8 -
Back to a 3 dog family. Happy gotcha day, say hello to Lucy, the bigger one and Cheespas. The door is open on their crate, it’s 4:30 and they’ve had a long day already. Will start walking them tomorrow, not properly leash trained and will slowly teach them English commands. Probably will start walking them (or trying to) one at a time. Lucy has a unique eye, one day I’ll show a better picture. Gotta give them another bath, they were bathed Monday, but need a repeat, they are city folk now.12 -

I have been reading and wanting to comment on so many of the conversations but I've been too late ... rats.
Katla ... praying all went well and your husband is now in the nursing home where you can visit more easily!
Rebecca ... so glad you're getting your digestive system straightened out!
And my mind is now a blank. Sigh.
My mom is still in the rehab/long-term care facility near my home. We had signed the contract and it looked like we were set to move her to an enhanced assisted living apartment tomorrow, but she was not cleared for admission at yesterday's final screening. Big disappointment for her and for me too, but safety comes first. She had an off day and stumbled during a transfer. But, everyone believes that she will eventually be able to move to the assisted living apartment. She is very close to meeting the assisted living facility's criteria and just needs more therapy (which she will be getting at her current location) to get stronger and more consistent with her movements. After everyone left her room we ate fancy chocolates. LOL.
I've been visiting my mom every day and trying to keep up with the things that need done at home. Not much time left for anything else.
