Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia
Rosemarie - keep resting, that's the best thing for you.
When I had it last year, my doc didn't even want me to go walking except around the house to do the minimum for a week. I think what helped too was sitting in the afternoon sun for about half an hour the first week, it was late September but I put on shorts and a T shirt. The sun is very healing if you have the ability to do that.
Sending hugs and healing thoughts your way. Once you get over it, you'll have some wonderful antibodies. You'll get there.

Kylia - looks like your vacation has started out well.
Heather - I hope you feel better soon. There is something going around again I hear.
Donation Bags - I do not have any space in my house to store a donation bag so I store them in my car. I usually get them there within 2-3 weeks. This summer I had one a fair amount longer though
Lisa - love the exercise room. I would love a visit. I have travelled the major highways through a few states when DH drove transport. I don’t know if I was in Arkansas or not. Mostly Florida from NB and then back to Ontario. I did take one three week trip to California though. I know we spent a weekend in Old San Diego.
Rosemarie- I hope you feel better soon.
I attempted the shadow box today. It was fun.
Kaitlyn didn’t come visit after all. She is coming tomorrow or next Sunday now. She is not sleeping well so didn’t feel well today.

Lisa thanks for the Brokenwood recommendation. Requested from library.
Carol glad you caught that $400 charge.
Rosemarie so sorry you got C-19. Please take all the time you need to completely recover. The fatigue can just hang on and on…

Rosemarie - Oh what bad luck! Do rest. The first time I was tired for weeks, the second time I coughed for weeks! So sorry you missed your family.
Carol - I seem to recall you had a previous card fraud. Good for you for checking up on it and catching it. I think my last one was about ten years ago. Mustn't speak to soon!
I'm really pleased for you that you have been able to get some decluttering done. It must be hard with a resistant husband.
I've woken up feeling a bit better, and I will see how it goes today after my exercise session. Max was thinking of coming over so he could walk up to the school with DH. He loves a walk and a talk. If the heat is too much, I could get a bus down later to join them and see the house. I'm desperate to see it. It would be fine, but the route to the school includes a long haul along a busy main road, which is a suntrap. I worry my thigh will seize up and I'll be stuck. I don't think it will be quite so hot here, because we are coastal, but there is a heat warning. Hotter than Athens!
DH and I had previously thought we might have a date night afterwards. It would be a shame not to.
Lisa - You could have your yoga mat elsewhere. I have my mat and weights upstairs and go there after the exercise room every morning. I used to have them in the bedroom and just put them away afterwards.
Lanette - Yes, a good one is very expensive, but I think it is better to spend more for a good one. Ours have lasted us 13 years with no trouble. I think the cheap ones get used as clothes stands all too soon. Make sure you can play music and watch videos nearby. Makes all the difference. I learnt German on mine and catch up on my favourite programmes. I have a tablet I can easily prop up on the machine, or next to it.
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

My son knows me so well. These are the instructions so I can make a cup of good old British tea!
I have decided to get a bus up later.

Treadmills ... here, you wouldn't want to go under $2000 for a new one.
I have a Sole treadmill but forget which model. I think it was at least $3000 and seems to be good quality. I've been running and walking on it for 4+ years.

Good morning, lovelies.
I slept well last night after my busy day. I had new members in both Creative Writing and Monday Painters, and both groups went well.
Tracey:👻💀👻 Like the Hallowe’en pic.
Carol: Glad you caught that scam.
Lisa: 🥰 the exercise room.
Heather: Glad you feel better this morning. I know you will be sensible and pace yourself.
Rosemarie: So sorry you caught the crud and missed your family. I hope you recover soon.
We are having a mini heatwave this week. Very humid and sweaty! Fortunately, there is a slight breeze to relieve it a little.
I am planning an active rest day. DH is off to badminton and I will do some gentle decluttering while he is out. Also need to go put some petrol in my car.
I will also put laundry away.
What an ‘exciting’ day 😝
🤗 🤗 🤗 and 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 to all for a stellar day.

Rosemarie-hope you recoup from Covid completely soon. It is going around here again also. I am hoping my one time easier this year will be it.
Allie-hope you get rested up soon!
Michelle-my in-laws came over here after WW II from Germany. They did not talk about the war much-I know especially FIL saw much (he was taken from his family to be in work camps). My sons are second generation American on dad's side-I think that is why negativism towards families coming in now bothers me so much. I just want everyone to get along.
I have a Sole treadmill I bought several years ago (before second hip so maybe 2018?). Had to have part of it taken apart to get into basement. It will be there when I leave this house! I prefer walking outside when possible. It was a life saver during rehab and I will use it this winter. The recumbent bike doesn't get as much use since I have treadmill. I think I got treadmill on clearance at Dicks for @ 900.
Going into office for a bit today even though it is my scheduled WFH. Have Teams meeting at 10 and then need to stop and get thyroid bloodwork @2 (I have to time it around the doses of t3). Hope to see positive changes from this. I am out of town for meetings Weds and Thurs and will WFH most if not all of Friday, so not a bad short week.
Enough sitting this morning. I have completed my 15 minutes of toe stretches with yoga toes (who knew putting spacers between toes could help feet?). Now to do a couple of other stretches. Should be able to get quick mile in before going into office if I don't sit around! Going to be hot today.
Take care all,

Here is the monthly list I use for you to copy if you’d like. Thank you Machka for posting the calendar. I always forget to post it in a format that works on here.
2023 Self-Care September 20231. Find time for self-care. It’s not selfish. It’s essential.
2. Notice the things you do well, however small.
I'm spending quite a bit of time relaxing this weekend. Self-care.
And what do I do well? I don't know ... the usual household things like the laundry I've done this weekend, working on my drystream, cycling, colouring.
3. Let go of self-criticism and speak to yourself kindly.
4. Plan a fun or relaxing activity and make time for it.
I'm not usually overly critical of myself but I will question myself, like "What are you doing?"
And today, I went for a long-ish walk at lunch then did some colouring at home after work.
5. Forgive yourself when things go wrong. Everyone makes mistakes.
And most of the time, mistakes can be fixed.6. Focus on the basics: eat well, exercise, and go to bed on time.
8. Give yourself permission to say ‘no’..
9. Be willing to share how you feel and and ask for help when needed.
10. Aim to be good enough, rather than perfect.
11. When you find things hard, remember it’s ok to not be ok.
12. Make time to do something you really enjoy.
13. Get active outside and give your mind and body a natural boost.
14. Be as kind to yourself as you would to a loved one.
15. If you’re busy, allow yourself to pause and take a break.
16. Find a caring calming phrase to use when you feel low.
17. Leave positive messages for yourself to see regularly.
18. No plans day. Make time to slow down and be kind to yourself.
19. Ask a trusted friends to tell you what strengths they see in you.
20. Notice what you are feeling without any judgement.
21. Enjoy photos from a time with happy memories.
22. Don’t compare how you feel inside to how others appear outside.
23. Take your time. Make space to just breathe and be still.
24. Let go of other people’s expectations of you.
25. Accept yourself and remember that your are worthy of love.
26. Avoid saying ‘I should’ and make time to do nothing.
27. Find a new way to use one of your strengths or talents.
28. Free up time by canceling any unnecessary plans.
29. Choose to see your mistakes as steps to help you learn.
30. Write down 3 things you appreciate about yourself.
31. Remind yourself you are enough, just as you are.

Regarding aging ...
If you look at how to prevent or delay things like dementia, how to keep our organs strong and healthy, and how to age well, the recommendations are basically the same.- Don't smoke (or quit if you do)
- Maintain a healthy weight.
- Exercise; be active.
- Follow a healthy diet.
- Improve sleep health.
- Manage health problems including diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. And I would add, stay on top of dental issues.
And to stay mentally healthy ...- Stay mentally alert by learning new hobbies, reading, or solving crossword puzzles. I would add learning to play music, dancing, and taking classes.
- Stay involved socially. Attend community activities, church, or support groups ... volunteer, get a part-time job, take classes.

Today and yesterday were long days at work as I had to solve 2 problems with a submission I make to the Commonwealth.
Not easy!!
So much digging through online records, reports, etc. ... reading small text on the screen, looking, hunting ...

I was up at 2! Rosie came into the bedroom and let me know she needed to go outside. I was awake anyhow, I probably shouldn't have had that little handful of mixed nuts before bed.
Very grateful it wasn't due to a sinus headache.... Dr. Matt's allergy meds and diet changes appear to be doing the trick. Still figuring out the triggers.
Rewatched the ZOE video about nuts yesterday and how a percentage of the fat is trapped in the fibrous cell walls so our bodies can't absorb it. So 160 calories per MFP might only be 80 calories as far as my body is concerned. Amazing and a tip of the hat to the researchers who did the poo assessment and discovered this, lol.
Tracey - that shadowbox is amazing! You could be an art teacher, you are so talented and clever. I'm so happy to hear your stress level has really gone down since you've been away from that job.
Allie - Miles and his mower are so cute. When my brother was that age, he had an interest in mowers and engines and turned out to be a good mechanic. Maybe Miles will go down that path.
Ginny - The yoga toes sounds interesting. Are the toe exercises to stretch out the ligaments in them and in your foot? Amazing to think how, when we were young, we could play barefoot in the lawn and even the sidewalks without a second thought. I'm not liking this part of getting older.
About Treadmills - if I can find a nice used one that someone has been using for a sweater hanger, that would be fine, since I don't plan on using it year-around. I have friends with a pickup who could help with the hauling and set-up if I can find one locally. You know, I managed to drag myself to town and time it right, I could use the ones at the gym. Cost savings right there!
Yesterday when my friends stopped by, we sampled the fermented honey/garlic that's been sitting in my cupboard for nearly a year. I remember peeling the garlic for it last year about 5 days after testing positive for C-19 and realizing I couldn't smell the garlic..... my kitchen should have been smelling like an Italian restaurant! I made two pints of it last year - it's rumored to be a germ killer and preventative plus it tastes good. I'm going to grab another quart of local honey and hopefully some local garlic and make another batch. During cold and flu season, it might be a good idea to eat a clove of "Vitamin G" each day.
Big shopping trip planned this morning, including stopping by the auto repair shop so they can check to see if the little oil leak is still little in my Subaru and getting an actual book from the library which doesn't open until 10. Will swing by my friend's workplace and pick up a bucket of Italian prunes and a chicken feed sample from her. And drop off honey and garlic so she can make a batch of Vitamin G. All important stuff.
Make it a fabulous day, ladies! Sending cool thoughts to those of you still in heatwaves and healing thoughts to those of you under the weather.

I still go barefoot whenever I can.
Although the possibility of scorpions and jackjumpers in the grass, and the gravel paths we have, limits the time I spend in bare feet around our place.

Good Tuesday,
Strangest dream....I rarely remember them. This one kept reoccurring. Something about being given a snake in a cracked and small aquarium. It gets out, lays eggs that get broken, trying to fix broken aquarium temporarily and get snake back in. Previous owner was no help as he only cleaned tank every two weeks......like I said strange!!!
Tracey I do believe she is also dyslexic. Never diagnosed, but made sense to me. She is also routine driven. Functions best with no surprises and dislikes changes in routine. She always calmed her anxiety at our house vs hers. She is attached to things and has difficulty getting rid of anything. Man.....typing this She is like her papaw!
Lisa Nice room! I also call our front 3 acres the front 40
Healing thoughts for Rosemarie and Heather. One of our friend's husband's has covid right now for the third time. He was really bad for about 4 days. We had invited them to join us for a few days at cabin, but uninvited them. They wouldn't have shown up anyway. She has never traveled! Her anxiety goes through the rough. I told her she needs to figure that out. I can't imagine not traveling. I don't travel enough.
Not much walking yesterday. Did walk around the "Island" after dinner and margaritas at Margaritaville. That helped steps. Did some shopping. My favorite store is "Man cave metal". Woman owned featuring local talents. The one lady makes jewelry from vintage silver. I have several pieces. We have lots of the metal signs. Added to my warming bear collection and got a warming horse for the Bronco. Did 3 hrs of work yesterday morning, then enjoyed the day. Need to do some more here shortly. Will probably walk more today.
Lots of love,
Kylia currently without migraine in the mountains of TN

Hello September 🌻3
-
Good morning. Jake twisted his ankle and hasn't been able to do much. It was worse last night and he made lots of noises that woke me and the dogs. I always take Bessie out around midnight and last night Bodie sounded like he needed to go, too. It was new to take them both but it worked. I think Bodhi expected breakfast when we came in and it was tricky getting him back into the kennel but I got him there. This morning Jake was too sore to get up so I learned how to get them both out, stay with them in the yard for 15 minutes (I listened to a podcast) and then fixed breakfast. Bodhi learned a bit about patience.
Rosemary, sorry to hear you have Covid. You love being with people so this must be extra hard.
Heather, sorry to hear that you are unwell. I know how active you are and this must be really tough.
My recumbent bike is not a great one, but it has worked for me so that's all that matters. I spend as much as four hours on it some days. It allows me to read, listen to podcasts or audio books, or watch TV and be active at the same time.
