Michele - You look great in your elf costume! The trees are amazing! I'm curious, do you still really enjoy doing them?
Is it Linda with the village? The greenhouse is so sweet! You will enjoy adding to the village over time.
I love miniature worlds. I made a whole dolls' house once, and then wrote my very first children's book about it. It was the start of a whole new career. I love toy cars, people, animals, train sets etc, but I don't have many, because I try to keep my possessions to a minimum. I often fantasise about getting some though. Properly contained and displayed, I think it would be OK. I'm still thinking about retrieving my mini Santons from the garage loft for Christmas.
I'm feeling so much better and completed all my exercises. Ginny, do you have something similar? Do you feel nauseous and achy?
Now I'm popping out to get a bit of shopping.
We are totally out of cold meat and smoked salmon.
Or I was. Now it's raining. Might go later this afternoon.
Hoping to experiment with some soft pastel art this afternoon. Many , many years since I've tried, but I kept the boxes.
Tonight is sea bass, roasted cauliflower, and sauce vierge.

Some of our trees. I'll post the rest after they are finished being decoratedThe disney and Charlie Brown tree that rotates
The Christmas Vacation and M&M tree. It rotates. I made the tree skirt
The Charlie Brown tree: (I just thought it was cute)
Our Main tree. This was my first attempt at crochet (probably about 25+ years ago)
Our small tree. I made the tree skirt. Vince made the ceramic tree (it's 3 separate pieces)
I also strung all this popcorn. Remember that I'd start in May so that I can do it on my deck? Well, this is the result.

Pretty ... and so many! You must have a huge house!

These are the first three garden beds I hacked up with the mattock and dug out all the weeds.
Now they've got veggies coming up!

Much love to all. I hope I can sleep tonight!

If I ate a mushroom omelette, I'd have more than a stomach ache, I'd be sick!

Good morning ladies!
Beth, so sorry your mom fell, but it sounds like they discovered more about her condition. Hope her recovery goes well.
Michele your trees are beautiful! And that elf costume is really cute!
Ginny sorry about your foot pain. Arthritis sounds grim. Have you tried soaking it in warm water?
Machka great job on the vegetable beds! They look marvelous!
Same old stuff going on here. Teddy is snoozing by my side. I read more James Patterson yesterday. Mom went up the stairs twice, but slept a lot.
We are supposed to get a heavy storm tonight.
Have a great day, my friends!

Beth, so sorry about the further complications with your mother. Hugs. My father had COPD and there was most definitely a correlation between his confusion and his oxygen levels. Maybe that can be at least one place that you can see improvement.
I’m up early, doing my morning routine of reading and journaling with my tea. I am so eternally grateful for a warm home, fuzzy pjs and slippers, and a comfy chair. It is pouring down rain outside. I sure hope that rain lets up before I have to drive to Atlanta today. It only takes 3 interstates to get where I’m going.
I still haven’t done the slides for church today. Nothing like procrastination.5 -
Hello, I rediscovered this group and bookmarked you- I am a "serial" weight loser and am back after gaining back 15 lbs I lost after gaining them during the pandemic. It's a couple weeks to Christmas, I'm afraid to get on a scale and know that I need to stop evening binge snacking- again. Just needed to say that out loud and in a safe place. Hope you are all well and hope to connect!10

Hi! I'm new to this group. I am age 69 and have a goal of being at my best weight, health and strength possible for this time of my life by my 70th birthday. At my recent physical, my PCP says I'm pre-diabetic, and I need to make sure it doesn't devolve into diabetes. That's my main concern.
I know how to do this: by eating more nutritionally dense foods and less of the other, as well as exercising more regularly, which I tend to slack on during the winter.
In recent years, my weight has been more up than down, so I need to re-establish good eating habits and daily exercise. I do most of my cooking from scratch and generally make good food choices, but I need to eat less, especially less carbs. I need to exercise daily. For me that means getting outdoors to walk (or bicycle when appropriate) every day and do strength-building exercises. I work out with light weights, practice yoga, and use Essentrics DVDs.
Anyhow, I would like to get and offer some support to other health-seeking older women. Thanks!

Beth: Sorry that your mom has Covid. I hope it’s a very mild case. Later. She fell? Glad to hear that there were no breakages.
Heather: Glad to know you are on the mend. I thoroughly endorse what you said about distancing from toxic people in our lives.
Pip: I also had to distance myself from my mother. Long story, but she was a bitter, unhappy person, and I often bore the brunt of her anger. In retrospect, I do think she had horrendous PMT in the days when it wasn’t recognised, and my father wasn’t as supportive as he could have been. I feel a sadness for her. Her life wasn’t easy.
DrKatie: Once I started focusing on being fit and healthy, rather than weight loss, life became much easier. And incidentally, the weight kept dropping anyway, until it levelled out below my original UGW. go figure 😝
Having a restful day after my busy week. DH is out walking with DYD and her dog. We will Skype with the family after lunch. One more busy week and then a few weeks off from my volunteer work.
🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

Finished cards...
I got nice feedback from one who already got one of mine..She was my parents neighbor. They have adopted numerous rescue dogs over the years. I found this in my mom's papers and she loved it... I told her it was my mom's way of thanking her for all they did for them. It was really a true Christmas present for both of us! Christmas does not come in a box. It truly is the simple things in life...

Good morning, my dears, from the wintry-feeling Arkansas River Valley, where at least it's not raining!
The fire in the fireplace is crackling, and I need to go turn the house heat down again. Corey just got up and brought me in a big armload of wood, which I appreciate enormously. I'm still a little quivery-muscled from my exercise yesterday. About 4,000 of my total step count was cleaning up one of the big, cut piles of logs and getting them under the carport and on the woodpile, available to be used in the house fireplace. Corey will need to split many of them, they were easily as large around as I am, and each about two feet long, so I definitely got my weight-lifting in.
Plus I cleared up Corey's scrap pile of bits of unusable lumber and got it out to the brushpile. While I was doing all that, he painted the outside walls of the sunroom and after we both finished our first jobs, I helped him put the new windows in. A few things to do on the outside and it will be finished, the inside work starts this week. I need to go take pics of the inside to do before and afters there as well.

Welcome Luanne in the Shenandoah Valley ( @Luannelizabeth ) and @judefit1 ! We have more than one 70+-year-old in this group of amazing ladies, and all the support you need as we are all working toward a healthier life, mentally, physically and emotionally. Jump in wherever you like... the water's fine.
I realized I had no idea what the word was that I set for myself for 2023, so I went back to our January thread to find it. It was 18 pages in! But, as I was reminded, I had a houseful of family to begin the year, then the flap with their dog running off, and then someone dropping it back off, and it was pretty agitated around these parts. Anyway... the word was "progress," both the noun and the verb. There are a lot of ways I feel like I've progressed, as well as accomplished (or in some cases, survived! ) quite a bit of the progress I was looking for. Now I'll have to think of a good word for 2024. Right now, I'm thinking about "shine." Not sure why, it was just the first word to mind.
The question now is just whether I can remember that long enough to get to the end of the year!
Look, I know this sounds sooooo morbid. But when I am feeling at my worst, and there have been a few of those this year, I try to think about whether, if I died right now, this second, I would die happy. Have I accomplished everything I could of what I set out to do, have I tried my best at everything I'm trying to do? Have I loved those I love as hard and as long as I possibly could? And the answer, right now, at least, is "yes."
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR10 -
Lisa- good Idea and I don't think its morbid at all.
Nobody is perfect, but I aldo feel that if I passed today, that I have done everything and I tell everyone that I love them all the time.
I have no regrets.3 -
I had a go at the soft chalk pastels this afternoon. I was a bit ambitious in the picture I was attempting - Narbonne, where we stayed recently. In the end I felt it came out OK for a first effort. I was a bit tentative. The photo hasn't come out very well, as the light is awful today. It's much brighter, and better, in reality.

Heather - Love it! Your ability to capture perspective and light gets better with every piece.3

I love all the sharing of Christmas decorations and plans. My sister and her husband will be coming for Christmas. I don't think we've spent Christmas together in over 20 years. It will be good to have them here. When my sister was here for medical last month, I told her I was going to rebuild my steps off the back deck. My BIL is a carpenter and he said he will put together the new steps and rail while they are here.
Healing thoughts to all who are sick and Hugs to all who need them.
Michelle, you are the cutest elf.
Thanks for the discussion of "toxic people"..... what havoc they can play in our lives.

Machka: Christmas time in Tasmania sounds nice. Working for the government or business that closes during summer weather sounds terrific!
Debbie: I make sure I have equal gifts for my son and daughter in law. I have a gift for each dog!
Lisa: I am so jealous of the sunroom! You will get a lot of use out of it. I have one room in the house painted yellow. All the other walls are white. I am spending more and more time in the room painted yellow!
Rori: My sympathy on the loss of Amy.
PIPCD: I love the picture of the tree at the pier. When we went to the beach at Thanksgiving the workers had the Christmas tree at the pier ready to be put up. I am almost tempted to drive the 4 hours to go see it!
Lanette: My sympathy to you and to the two children. So interesting all the places that you have lived. I have been in Georgia since 1991. I love the winters but suffer duing the summers here.
Kylia: I hope you get caught up with the paper work!
Beth: I hope your Mom is able to recover and is comfortable.
MargaretTurk: I like the reindeer!
Judefit1: Good luck with your weight loss!
Luanneelizabeth: Good luck with weight loss!
Barbie: The dancing sounds like fun!
Heather: I am glad you are feeling better!
Evelyn: I hope you feel better!
DeadendDiva: Good luck with weight loss!
Carol: I have a friend that for years I went to a Mexican restaurant with. Now she has COPD and is on oxygen at home. On Saturdays I try and get us a meal and go to her home and we sit in her living room and eat. Usually we have a good conversation!
Kevrit: I hope you feel better!
Joy: Enjoy the baking!
Dr. Katie Bug: I have a to do list as well. I am thinking getting my Covid shot and paying the house insurance need to move up as priorities on the list!
I am very tired....I have eye strain and can't wear my glasses. I am wearing my contacts with reading glasses to get more power! Also I am very hungry and don't know why. I can't seem to get enough food.
I think I will make an hour by hour to do list to see what I can accomplish. I have a holiday get together at 5pm. I have to iron some jeans and figure out a top. I wanted to wear a red sweater but it is too warm.
Maybe I will run to the mall and look for a new top! The mall is very near me which is good and bad!
I hope everyone has a good day!
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia

Good morning, ladies.
Michele your trees are stunning and you look so cute in your elf costume. I don't do a big tree anymore as I don't have the energy but decided that I needed a bit of something to compliment my tabletop tree so opted for the Christmas Village and I know that I will enjoy building on it in the coming years.
Lisa your sunroom looks so nice and looking forward to pics of the inside.
Machka, as an avid gardener I have to ask what is coming up in your beds?
Beth, so sorry to hear of your mother's fall.
Starting on my baking this afternoon. Will be making butter tarts as well as coconut ones. Have the pastry made so not too much of a chore. Giving my sister a call this morning which I know will turn into about a two hour event. Enjoy catching up with all her news.
Enjoy the day.
Joy7 -
Heather-not sure what it is. Stomach bug is running through my workplace for sure. Not too bad right now.
Annie-good for you walking 10 minutes. Since I was backing off foot a bit, I have been doing 30 minutes walking in doors-sometimes in 10 minute chunks. It all counts and is way better than nothing!
Lisa-the exterior of the sun room looks great-done in record time. I can't remember, will it be more of a three season room or are you insulating and maybe using space heaters?
Sitting and icing feet right now. Will use some heat later in day when it acts up. I have some very nice large ice boots for feet and a nice large heating pad. I order a small set of pull on socks with ice pack inserts and a set of slippers to put in microwave to take to hotel with me with kids. It will travel easier and the inserts will fit in small freezer in hotel fridge.
Going to finish my tea, put booties away. Going to dust and vacuum now-need to spot clean living room rug. And then there is the Sunday litter box cleaning-they get emptied completely and washed this week.
Take care all,
