Remember that pinched nerve issue I was telling you about? Hasn’t hurt since we’ve been here camping, funny. Still walking and running tho.

Worked then came home. Right after I got home, the landscaping guy came. I, fortunately, was able to ask him to plug and seed other areas, too. Like I said, he’s a real real nice guy. Just not good with communication, and I like communication. Then I went and counted the donations at the church. I didn’t realize it, but there were two collections so it took extra long to do. Oh well….
Annie – so glad you’re feeling better. MFP has reset my streak so many times that now I don’t even bother with it.
Speaking of MFP: for some reason, some of the foods that I add to my diary don’t get added to my frequent foods. Wonder why? Yet, foods that have been there for months are still there
Husbands and money: Vince will say “this inflation has really hit us hard”. Most of my clothes come from thrift stores, I see him getting t-shirts off the internet (which you know are more expensive). He STILL hasn’t sold the coins. This year I plan when we go to the condo, I will get more quotes on redoing the bathroom and if he says something like “we can’t afford this”, I just plan to say “we will once you sell those coins”. He’ll spend money more often than I will on (to me) frivolous things. We have a TV downstairs that Vince spent his pandemic money on. Mine was used to pay down credit card debt so we could get a lower interest rate on our mortgage with the promise that I’d get my money back. I guess I FINALLY got it back
barbie – with the four kittens, we’re helping to keep Chewie in business….lol It’s nice having a vet in the family, but we still need a family vet near the house
Carol – all the ceramics that I do go out by the pool. Now we’re working on the front of the house, too (putting them there)
Went to ceramics tonight and a friend has a Cricut machine, she was going to make shirts for her bowling team when she saw one and decided that she and I need it. It says “forget the red slippers, this princess wants bowling shoes”. So I’m going to give her a t-shirt. She said not to bother, that she’d buy one at WalMart. But I know WalMart only sells the cheap t-shirts and I like the heavier ones so I’ll give her one that I got at the Salvation Army a while ago.
Allie – I’m so happy Carmine came over to see Dehlia. I am sure Ginger knew this would help bring them around.

Lisa … I generally love Maytag … except for the agitator-less model. Like Vicki, I don’t think the clothes get clean. It just “wiggles” the clothes and it doesn’t use enough water. I found marks and undissolved detergent on the clothes. Add to that, the cycles take too long. Would never have another. The old 80s Maytag gets clothes clean in less time.
Lanette … sorry you have Covid. My mom tested positive today too… since I’ve been with her every day … I’ve been exposed. But what that means with today’s covid protocols confuses me. The facility said I could still visit??

Gratitudes:
Tuesday-Being able to breathe deeply. Saw the new chiro again this morning and he firmly got the rib to re-seat. I’m sore but thankful.
Monday- Got in to see my chiropractor’s chiropractor the same day!!!late Sunday night couldn’t sleep, burning pain below right shoulder blade. Couldn’t take a deep breath. In the morning, texted my chiropractor for suggestions as I knew she was out of town. She gave me a few and the contact info for her chiropractor. I was amazed when his office texted me back and he could squeeze me in at 2:45 pm. She must have called and persuaded him. He got the rib to move after trying three or four different approaches.Sunday-Pastor’s wife added main dish leftovers to the container I was bringing home to Joe. He gobbled them up with gratitude
Lisa that purse is gorgeous! If you decide to get a new Speed Queen, opt for the TC model, not the TR. We have the TR and the lid lock mechanism sticks. YouTubed for a fix and learned that the TR model is not good.
Lanette “…the Johnson rod…” ROTFLMAOWMP! Shame on my dirty mind, turns out it’s a thing… https://www.johnsonrods.com/ Sure sorry to hear about the Covid. ((hugs))
Michele I share your frustration with DH’s who reject their intelligent wive’s loving suggestions but will leap to follow Dr. Google when he suggests the same thing. Trying to be grateful that at least he’s doing the right thing but aaarrrgh!
Barbie and Mo what you said about how important every one of the gals on this thread is to me. Amen, and amen.
Tracey I wish your Rodger and my Joe could be friends. Neither does Joe have anyone but me, though he does talk to his brother on the phone when he calls. The neighbor who offered Joe a job helping, hasn’t been back, not to work on our water system, or to ask Joe to help. :{ Good advice to Rebecca, about getting a refund.
Rita ((hugs)) and hope next week is better for you. I’ve never had cherries jubilee, but did have Bananas Foster once and loved it. Unfortunately the restaurant isn’t there any more.
Annie and Lanette did you try this? https://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/login-counter-reset-request
Allie my heart goes out to Tracy, to lose Ginger on top of everything else. And Oh, when that picture of Carmine holding Delia popped up, my heart stopped for a moment.
Husbands and finances. Thanks to my education and longevity with my company I’ve always been the primary breadwinner. Any $$ that Joe makes is his to spend as he sees fit. He kicks in $200 every month toward the household expenses, which is roughly a fifth of his Social Security check. He buys most of his own food. I doubt he’s ever had a checking account. After we had our bad patch, I broke my right wrist and Joe had to write out the monthly checks. Later his brother told me it was a real eye-opener for him. I’m content with this arrangement and could not imagine having to ask him for $$ or fight over spending choices. We do talk over the big ones, roof, appliances, fortunately rare. I realize our situation is unusual but it works for us.Falling way behind on the decluttering challenge, but not giving up.
Day 19/30 Serving and Baking Dishes, 20/30 Kitchen Cabinets19-It was physically hard to drag stuff out from the darkest recesses of base cabinets. Donated the red, recycled the blue, put the green where they’ll be used. I do use my Pyrex baking dishes and only have two platters, which I also use Instead, a huge Corningware stockpot, a gadget for measuring peanut butter, an ice cube tray for an RV refrigerator we no longer have, my two least favorite vases and the miscellaneous Tupperware all got donated. Tumble helped.Hope the sore rib doesn’t interfere with tomorrow’s breast ultra-sound.
20-Opened the cabinet that I can’t easily reach and asked Joe to take everything out.
Donating and re-gifting the blue, put the green away elsewhere. Tumble helped again. Joe will use the now empty cabinet for some of the canned goods he’s been stashing in his closet. Win-win. ;}

Lanette … sorry you have Covid. My mom tested positive today too… since I’ve been with her every day … I’ve been exposed. But what that means with today’s covid protocols confuses me. The facility said I could still visit??
Beth
Beth - Sorry to hear about your mom, I have a hunch seniors her age have a harder time with Covid than I did, but I could be wrong.
Interesting your mom's facility says still come visit, sounds like the protocols are really relaxed compared to what they were. Maybe they are leaving it up to the visitors - if showing symptoms, stay home. But since it's spreading among the residents, no need to ban outsiders?
Spoke with my doc this morning, he said I'm considered contagious the first 5 days of showing symptoms, then should mask for the next 5. I'm not sure how many people pay attention to that since most people have antibodies from vaccines or the natural infection.
Today is day 6 for me, and I feel perfectly fine. If not for the loss of sense of smell, I never would have realized I had covid since I didn't test.
By the way, I give a lot of credit to Zicam. I took other supplements as well but read recently that zinc taken in lozenge form is one of the most effective virus killers and I took a lot of it. I see Walmart has it in flavors other than that nasty orange "baby aspirin" flavor, lol. It must remind of some medicine I was forced to take as a child.

Heather - We sure do need a tribe. Rodger and I started out more in tune than we are now. There is so much that I still love deeply, some things just are hard to respect though.
Lisa - I know Rodger would do a good job, we used to split this better and he always did a good job.
I hope your washer hangs on for you. I’m praying our hot water tank keeps going for a while yet. I fear it’s going though.
I can’t wait to see the wallet you design.
Your craft tables look great.
I have friends that had the agitator-less washing machine and got rid of it. I’ve also heard some things about the front load washers. I personally want as few bells and whistles as possible, I find it’s just more to go wrong.
Beth - Hope your Mom didn’t pass Covid onto you. We don’t have much for restrictions now.
Lanette - I hope you kick it to the curb fast!
I used to chew baby aspirin like candy when my Mom wasn’t paying attention. It’s a wonder I didn’t overdose at some point. Maybe I need to try Zicam 😂
Kim - your parents had a good plan when it came to finances. I was raised with no financial discipline. My Mom never worked except for one winter that I remember. My Dad worked hard, but was never in his whole life paid his worth. He would go almost every evening and weekend to do odd jobs for people in the community rarely getting more than $5.00 for an evening’s work. He was a licenced general contractor, Red seal electrician, could build anything and could do plumbing but really hated it. He spent every cent he had usually a couple of days before payday. Dad smoked and my brother still resents that we grew up without heat, sometimes electricity and food was scarce at times. My mother’s parents gave them the house we grew up in, it was without running hot water or a tub until the year after I was married. They also helped them out a lot over the years and spoiled my brother and I. Rodger grew up with two parents that worked.
I have been working with cash myself more lately. It makes a difference I think. Rodger doesn’t spend a lot except for the cigarettes and I’m resenting that. It’s hard though because I didn’t want to be “that” ex smoker.
Right now I’m upset that he doesn’t want to work on top of the money literally being burned up.
Allie - those Grands of yours sure are cute. Carmine looks happy holding Delia.
Vicki - exactly! Rodger won’t look either. I actually wrote it all out a few weeks ago when this talk of not working for the winter came up.
Rebecca - hope all the pain goes by tomorrow.
Pip - aren’t our bodies strange.
Michele - depending on what product she is using to make the shirt she needs certain materials and maybe colours. Also, they shouldn’t be washed before having the product applied because of fabric softeners and laundry soaps. I would just let her get you a shirt.
I had a tv catch up night tonight. I watched the Emmy’s I had recorded, I thought they did a good job of them this year with how they had the presenters.
Now I’m watching the AGT Finale so I don’t read on FB who won.
Last night I watched a new show called Brilliant Minds. I loved it!
Off to bed.

Good morning sweet friends!
Michele so glad your callous is better finally.
Heather hope your ex is better.
Tracey I'm with you that based on looks from the inside, I would shorten the curtains. What is the view like? Can you see out? Do you need privacy there? Is it blocking sun?
Beth amazing that your mom played possum so well! Maybe she fainted or something? Just seems so weird that she could fool the workers.
And I'm sorry she got covid. Hope she is comfortable.
Lanette you too with the covid! Hope your symptoms are mild. My Dad takes memantine for Alzheimer's but I don't know if it does much. It supposedly will slow down the progression for about six months, so if that's six more months he is at home, then that's great.
Allie Sorry to hear about Ginger. That will be confusing for Miles. And so glad to see Carmine!
Carol great job avoiding credit cards. That takes discipline!
Rebecca sounds like a lovely visit.
Rita hugs for you. Hope things get better.
Kim sorry about your mom reporting that she will die in two weeks. That sounds very difficult to deal with.
Pip Yay for the nerve issue disappearing!
I have to watch Dad with money. He feels good when he gives it away. I took the checkbook but he still has a credit card.
Okay, I'm caught up here. Next up is laundry, dishes, and such. it's raining so we aren't walking. Too slippery for Dad.
Have a great day! May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Lanette I like to say I am now at a healthy weight. BMI puts me in normal range. Although I have learned BMI is only a small part of the picture. Sleep, waist measurement, gut health, and coping with stress are also important. I too can put on two pounds overnight if I eat out and the food is salty. I have a one to two pound range between what I weigh at the end of the day and first thing in the morning. Weighing with clothes also adds a pound or two. My plan is to stick to my current course. High fiber, smaller meat portions, more water, fermented foods, less highly processed foods, little to none wheat, corn, soy,and sugar.
I have a 35 year old Maytag that I am in no hurry to replace. Yes from the 80's. It does let you choose from small, medium, large, and extra large wash load. My clothes come out cleaner than son's newer washer ( It does have an extra rinse cycle that is needed) The new washer like the newer toilet are geared to save water. Where the cost comes in is for the washers is it is hard to get the clothes as clean and if it is a front loader you have to clean it periodically so you don't get mold. Toilets are harder to fix than the old ones so the added saving could go to the plumber. I just had mine out to do the routine boiler check up for winter. They now charge 120 an hour. So my $20 repair would have cost...$120 (labor)+$90(show up fee)+$20 in parts=$230 at least...This helped pay for the yearly furnace maintenance.
M Like you I pay off monthly charges so I do not have late fees or added interest. Saves quite a bit of money.2 -
Updates:
Talked to mom today, my two sisters fought and got a doctor to look at her. She has been having nausea and diarrhea (uncontrollable) every day for the last week and is not eating well and very weak. (She is 88 yo). The facility she is at is under-staffed and over-filled with patients so limited attention to the patients. Not a good situation. I’m happy my two sisters are there to fight for her. One of them is very opinionated and will ‘insist’ on better care for my mom. This got them a good doctor to look at her who is now doing tests and trying to figure out what is wrong.
DH’s doctor appointment went ok yesterday. Nothing extreme to do. Bloodwork about the same as last time. Doc told him he was dehydrated and the alcohol he drinks are both doing a number on his liver. I will be very surprised if he makes an effort to drink more water and less Rum. We will see. He too follows Dr. Google who usually confirms what I’ve told him. 🤦♀️
Brownie is going downhill. She still is able to control her bowels, so I’m glad of that. She is just coughing and loosing her balance a lot more. When she has a coughing fit, she looks at me with these eyes that ask me to help her make it stop. It breaks my heat….
Finances: I have to admit that I have had issues with credit cards. I want to please DH and others so spend way too much on credit. I have now employed a financial assistance program and cut up all the credit cards. The hard part is convincing DH that we don’t have the money to buy everything he wants. He does buy things I don’t think are necessary, and buys way too much food that we don’t need. Changing my focus is doable, but I can’t change his. So working on this at any rate. In the past, and even now, I have been the one to make the most money of both my husband’s. I have always controlled the bill paying, etc but have never been able to save because I wanted a higher standard of living than I really could afford. I’ve been in financial trouble more than once. This has to be the FINAL time I over-use or even use credit! I needed to write this someone to be more accountable to get back on track.
Speaking of back on track, I went for a 2.5 mile hike this morning before breakfast. That makes me tired, but feels great! My head is in a better place today. No doctors today, but two tomorrow morning so may not have time to post. I will catch up though!
Sorry for the book,

I should clarify that I can visit my mom, but I also have to wear full PPE in her room ...N95, gown, gloves, glasses. I am not going in to visit today and will play it by ear tomorrow ... after I talk to the nursing supervisor on her floor. I want good advice before I visit. I did visit my mom every day that she had covid last December. She refused to eat and I ended up feeding her until she regained enough energy to feed herself. Hoping that's not necessary this time around.
Lanette ... good advice about the zinc! I restarted my b-complex this morning that has zinc and vitamin C along (with the B vitamins). I already take D3 and Magnesium.
Husband and Finances ... I'm in charge of everything but his 401K. He will be lost if I pass before he does. I've tried to explain it all. Falls on deaf ears.

Hello, my lovely friends;
It has been a few days since I posted. I tried to post but was so tired that I forgot to save my draft, which disappeared. I was too exhausted to retype, so I went to bed. So, here is my update. I heard my blue-eyed cherub was in PICU, but after a few days, they told us to save a room for her. Her mother was supposed to come in and get a new trach for her but didn't, so she almost died. I was sad cause I didn't get to see her. I was so busy with my two babies and a four-year-old who kept taking off his oxygen. So I told him that I would call his dad and tell him not to come cause he wouldn't wear his oxygen. He wore it the rest of the night, and then we could wean him off it. I told him his dad could now take him and his mom home. He was thrilled. I fell in love with a new baby; she is so cute, and her dimples show when she smiles and laughs. I saw my therapist after work Monday and told him about you all. He was pleased that I was doing well.
Today, I threw away some things in the kitchen and am donating some thermal cups to the parent lounge at work. I threw away the lids that had no bottoms. Someone said that I am doing great on decluttering. I am so behind. Loaded the dishwasher and wiped down the stove and countertops. I did step aerobics last night, but the dog laid on my yoga mat the moment I laid it down to do my setups. She wouldn't move, so I drove down to do it with the video. I continued with push-ups, and she was unfazed. Today, she is in day camp. I am going to the pool today and tomorrow. I must push myself before seeing the weight management doctor and the nutritionist.
I have been checking on you all and praying for you all. Allie, you are a wonderful grandma to all of your grand. When I lost Alexandra, I hadn't been working, so we couldn't afford a burial or cremation(I wish we had looked into it first.). As a result, Alex was buried in a mass grave at the hospital. That depressed me. You, as a grandma, were able to anticipate your daughter's and your needs to arrange and pay for her to be put to rest. I wish I knew that you can divide ashes and put them into works of art and jewelry. Miles is a happy kid because his village well loves him. You are the grandma I wanted for my kids. I hope I will be as great as you are when I finally become one. I am in no hurry cause my kids are not yet mature enough to be parents.
Beth, my mom, slept a lot when we put her in memory care. She hid in her room, so they had to make her get out and participate in the activities. Food helped her get out of the room. Now, when I visit, she is a social butterfly, and I feel like I interrupt her fun, but then I join in, too. I see videos where she is dancing and singing.
Lisa, You are so talented. You remind me of my aunt Katie. I love that purse! You could start an Etsy account and sell your work. Yay for you for sleeping in sometimes.
Lanette, you made DH's day. When I told him that you listen to his "60 seconds of Hope," I used to chime in on the commentary. I haven't for a bit. He has a few books on Amazon. McMillon was his great-grandpa's doing. I guess he disapproved of his brother and his family's lifestyle, so he broke away and changed the spelling of the last name from McMillan to McMillon.
Katiebug, I stopped posting on Facebook because families would get upset if I didn't accept them. I got in trouble when I participated in a memorial of one of my favorite patients. When he died, I cried and cried. So, I spoke to the family online about what he met and only used his first name. I almost lost my job. The family called and said that they loved me and not to fire me. My current manager fought for me as well. That is why I do not say names. Somebody hacked my Facebook account, and my friends told me someone was asking them for money. They know that isn't like me. So, my FB was closed by the administration, and I was okay with that. I may get it going again, but now I tell families I can not be their friend while working at UMMC.
Tracey that is a beautiful rainbow over your house. I wonder if it symbolizes a blessing. Your granddaughter Michaela is gorgeous and looks great in the boots. I love the colors in her bangs.
I am working on my finances. I always wanted to be a stay-at-home mom, so my DH forgot that he promised me I could if I moved to Mississippi. So, I didn't get a job and stayed home. The electricity was turned off, and I had to get money from my savings to pay for the utilities and ask for money from DH. I then realized that I had to go back to work. I had to get an MS license, pawn some things for less money than they were worth, and apply for a job. I always made more money than DH. Now he makes more than me. We have separate accounts and one joint account. That didn't work due to his check writing without checking with me. So we divided up the bills. I pay the mortgage, electricity, water, and our son's needs. He pays for Julia's needs, Carnotes (mine, his, and Julia's), and car insurance, and I pay for the house insurance and things my mom may need. He also bought a condo in Chicago and paid HOA, which covers utilities and taxes. He pays for my cable bill and internet as well. It works for us. We both work hard and as a pastor, he signed his check back to the church when he lived here. So, my husband was a working pastor. He gave money to the congregants if they had a need. I buy things for my patients and the PTA. We donate to many charitable organizations that we believe in.
Heather, you are walking, and I hear the joy and determination in your writing. It may help to wrap your knee with Kinesio tape. Do not wrap it too tight, just enough to support your knee. I am going to wrap my foot more often as well.
Lisa, I guess you sent me the rain from Arkansas to Mississippi. Now my head is hurting again. Now I know to expect it if you get rainy weather.
Rita, I hope your fur baby, mom, and DH get better. I am on Antidepressants. My doctor told me that it was for my hot flashes after my hysterectomy. I think he knew I was depressed. Then, they put me in integrative care, So now I have a therapist, too. He is wonderful.
Beautiful wizard, Mickey Michelle.
Deb, I like to do my own thing in the water. I may join the 10 am class and then do laps in the pool.
Annie, sorry you were sick. I hope you are now on the mend.
Congrats, Margaret, on the weight and keeping it off.
Pip that pinched nerve can be pretty painful. I have sciatica, and exercise worked better than meds. Back kicks, bending your knee as you are on all fours and kicking outward and doing it on each leg, help. Look up exercises on YouTube.
Lisa, all of my appliances died during the beginning of COVID-19. I was in the hospital cause I could not breathe. I was trying to order appliances even though I didn't have income. I had hospital indemnity insurance and short-term disability, which helped. But it was hard to get the appliances. They were on back order. We had Maytag for the washing machine, but I ordered an upright whirlpool even though the repair man said to get a Speed Queen.
See, I told you that I had a lot to say. Take care everyone. It is time for my nap before I go to the pool. Chow for now.
XO,
Monique AKA-Mo

Today’s gratitude: Rib is so much better today. Able to reach, bend over, even cough with little to no pain. What a difference! Rejoicing that the ultra sound confirmed that the mass seen in the MRI is a benign fibroadenoma. No further steps needed. Re-check in 6 months. Thankful.
Now I’m gonna celebrate by doing the Day 21 desk declutter, then reward myself with a pastry and an international coffee

Lisa--Love the way you have your craft room set up. Looks like a very nice place to work.
Allie--What a beautiful picture of Carmine and the new baby.
Got a call this morning and they will be here Monday to put in my walk in shower. They said the most it will take is 2 days. I am excited and glad to be getting it done. They had someone cancel so could get us done sooner.

We have an LG washer top load, no agitator, and a gigantic capacity. Jake does the laundry and he loves it. He says that the clothes come out cleaner than every washer we've ever had.
I got a great financial upbringing from my parents who were raised in simple families during the depression when people made do with what they had and didn't spend money they didn't have. I had to learn as an adult to buy things for myself that weren't absolutely necessary.
🐾Its drizzly today so the dogs and I are inside. Annie is restless, irritable, and discontent and can't find anything fun to do. Bessie and Jake are napping. I have a lot I could do but Annie keeps bugging me to pay attention to her.

Barbara – so glad you can breathe again. Vince can’t go bowling tonight “because I still can’t walk”. Really, babying something for a long time only makes it worse. Hey, I’ve been walking differently since February and only in the last week have I been able to walk sort-of normally. But I never gave up my walking. I may have walked slower, but I walked. Dr. Google probably wouldn’t want me to.
Beth – maybe your mom’s facility figures “she’s already been exposed, so what’s the difference. It makes her mom happy when she visits so where’s the harm? Would probably be worse if she didn’t come”.
Today at BK my worst nightmare came true. They rehired this one hourly manager. Why? My guess is because she’s willing to work at 5am. She used to criticize me for everything when I started. I couldn’t even sweep the floor before I left the correct way. I just thought “let me get this straight. The woman who cut her hair in the bathroom – the bathroom that the customer sees – and left hair in the sink and on the floor is telling me that I need to sweep the floor better in the back where the customer doesn’t see. Isn’t there something wrong with this picture?” Well, 3 years later I’m still here and she told me that she’d been fired from the BK that she went to. So why they hired her is beyond me. The only thing I can think of is that she’ll work at 5a.m.
I never even knew that there was such a thing as an agitator-less washing machine. Now I know to avoid them. We have a front loader and it seems to be fine.
Tracey – thank you for the info about the shirt. I’ll give her one and ask her if it’s OK. I just really don’t want one of the cheap ones. I would much rather spend extra money on a good quality one. So if I have to buy one, that I will do
Annie – the “callous” is better. Not perfect. But at least I’m not walking on the side of my foot so that I don’t put pressure on it. Maybe he got out what was the problem and I just have to give my body time to attack and kill what’s left, I don’t know. I’ll go to him again in a month
Credit cards: I had a Kohl’s card and they went to a credit card (probably cheaper for them). I almost fell over when I saw the credit limit. So I called and asked it to be reduced, which they did. But they said that reducing could negatively impact my credit score. I asked Vince and he said that it could. I worry about what might happen if someone got hold of my wallet. They don’t need to be able to charge thousands of dollars. A few hundred is enough. And there’s no way I’ll buy more than $300 at any one time from Kohl’s
We had these plants that I really didn’t like so I replaced them. I thought I was being so smart and started to remove one thinking that I’d get it done before Vince came home. Ha Ha. Had my neighbor help me. Well, for the other plant Vince tied a cord around the plant and used the car to pull it out of the ground (Kim – it’d been there 2 years). Well, guess that wasn’t enough because some of the roots were regrowing. Since it rained last night and the ground was a bit softer, I dug the shoots up. Hopefully, I got the rest of the roots.
Margaret – we always leave the washer door open when we’re not using it and we’ve never had mold in it. We’ve had the washer well over 5 years.
Rita – I hope they figure out what’s wrong with your mom so she can start getting better
Supposed to rain hard Fri. Vince was going to go to the lady’s house whose brother passed away and Vince helped her sell his trains. Anyway, the brother was also into music so Vince helped her buy new speakers and he was going to go there to set them up. But if we’re going to get a lot of rain, maybe he won’t. She wants me to come over, too. If Vince goes, I will. I’ll also take brownies with me. She’s into “healthy” foods so I’ll make some tofu brownies and text her that that’s what they are but to just refer to them as “brownies” in front of Vince or he won’t eat them. I'll make some and if we don't go, I can always freeze them.
Bowling tonight. Like Monday, I'll just tell people that I beat Vince up and that's why he isn't there....lol Then I'll probably tell them the truth

I grew up in a relatively poor family and just about everything we bought had to be researched and justified. I still do that. It has taken months for me to make large purchases because of all the research involved.
I also didn't get a credit card until sometime in my 30s. I had started travelling with my cycling and discovered I needed a credit card to do things like book accommodation and flights. But I didn't use it for anything else. In fact even now, nothing (except bookings) goes on a credit card.
My only debts have been loans for education (up to $5000) and the very occasional venture into a small overdraft. Oh, and a couple car loans which have been long since paid off.
Meanwhile I still research all large purchases to death! 😀

Hello, dear hearts,
Busy day for me... but productive. Rain in the middle of the night pulled me right straight out of the bed to go shut windows, but Corey didn't even stir - that extra workday on Saturday really takes it out of him... one day of rest instead of two days off just really isn't enough.
But, not enough sleep, even though I slept in until 4 (it's all relative, the term "sleeping in" 😂
Thank you to those who commented on brands and styles of washers. I was able to read everyone's posts, including Mo's (you talk as much as I do! Well done!😹) but held onto very little. More tomorrow,
Love y'all,

Today’s dance class was the first time in weeks I was able to dance the whole ltime. Thankful the rib pain has eased and the stamina is returning after the summer cold from heck. Felt GOOD!
Carol, your decluttering and cleaning are inspiring. Is the knee still swollen, red and hot?
Lisa your under desk solution – perfect!
Rebecca sorry for the charley horse, glad you could ease it in the sauna.
Machka I’m so with you on interest. The only interest we pay is the mortgage, and Joe’s Shell credit card which he sometimes doesn’t want to pay off. It’s hard for me, but it’s his money, so I don’t buck him too hard.
Debbie, I’d be very very uncomfortable not knowing how much we as a couple had in the bank, or what the bills are. Do you suspect his spending has put you in debt?
Allie ((hugs)) for the loss of Ginger ((hugs))
Pip so glad the pinched nerve eased and didn’t mess up your camping trip.
Michele mfp is a mystery. A food I use regularly and often, doesn’t appear on the “Recent” list, but does in the “Most Frequent” list, even though it shows in my log within the past 3 days. Go figure.
Beth so sorry to hear your mom has Covid on top of everything else. Hope the case is mild and you dodged the bullet. Would she be scared to see you in full PPE?
Lanette so glad you had Zicam on hand. I don’t mind the St. Joseph’s aspirin for children flavor but the elderberry was all they had in stock last time . . . ;} In any case I far prefer the medicated fruit drops to nasal swabs :noway:
Vicki and Tracy ((hugs)) it must be so frustrating, and scary, to have the responsibility of paying the bills but not the control of DHs’ spending (or in Rodgers case deciding whether or not to work.) ((hugs)). I’d resent the $$ being burned up too. IMHO if he insists on smoking, he must work to pay for it, but I realize that might not work for you. If you do write it out, can you keep it to three bullet points? That seems to be the male maximum. For example:
Monthly outgo: $XXXX.
Monthly income with Tracey working and Rodger on EI $XXX difference =short fall
Monthly income with both working. $XXXX difference =to the good.
Good luck, I’m rooting for you both!
Kim ((hugs)) for dealing with your mom’s announcing her impending death. Hard to hear. Impossible to counter.
Annie can you put some kind of limit or hold on your Dad’s credit card? ((hugs))
Margaret yours about healthy weight, sleep, waist, gut and stress, all truly inspiring.
Rita ((hugs)) Hope the Doc helps your mom, a week of that is too long! So very sorry to hear about Brownie’s decline ((hugs)). Proud of you for the 2.5 mile hike. Self-care is crucial.
Mo our repairman said get Speed Queen washer too, but alas he didn’t know that not all Speed Queens are good. :{ Yay for you on not just decluttering but cleaning. You and Carol are inspiring!
Vicki I’m envious of your new walk in shower, how I’d love to have Bath Fitters come and do both of ours. Alas, we have neither the $$$$ nor the willingness for the disruption …
Barbie my parents were young people during the depression and tried to teach me good (not) spending habits, but I was willful and spendthrifty until my 40s. :{ Fortunately a loan from my 401K got me out of trouble and I just had them keep taking the “repayment” out of my paycheck even after the loan was paid off. Gave us a nice cushion.
Michele I’m surprised that after removing the “callous” the foot doctor didn’t urge you to stay off of it till it healed. REALLY sorry to hear the bad boss has been rehired.
@cityjaneLondon Heather, are you ok? Miss you.
Decluttering challenge Day 21/30 desk21-picked just one drawer, where we’ve stuffed every warranty, owner’s manual, etc. for anything we’ve ever bought. Scanned through and pulled out a pile for things we no longer have. Fought my OCD inclination to label, color code and/or alphabetize the keepers. Instead, put the keepers back in the drawer in the same order they came out, roughly oldest on bottom. Yay me!Later, lighter, lovelies!

Our washer is a whirlpool agitator-less kind. it gets our clothes clean, but then we don't often get them super dirty. It does sometimes leave detergent residue on particular dark clothes, probably because I have used more detergent than necessary. It doesn't take much. I do like that it figures out how much water is needed and only uses that much. We tend to wash small loads more often, and that way I don't feel like I'm wasting water.
Money: My money is his and his is mine. It's all in a joint account. We withdraw cash every week for our personal incidentals. Everything else comes from the joint accounts and is meticulously tracked by using YNAB (budget software). I handle the bill-paying. We pay off the credit cards a couple of times a month and never carry debt. We married when we were both young and broke and have been married for almost 50 years. If something were to happen to him and I remarried (highly unlikely but never say never), I would totally have separate finances - not because this doesn't work. It works very well for our situation. It's just that this is money we earned together, and any left over is for our children's inheritance.
I recommitted this morning to logging my food and sticking to my plan. I have exactly 32 days until I turn 70 and I want to be out of the "obese" category by then. Technically, I should be able to accomplish this, but if you look at my track record over the last few months, it's looking grim. I've been losing about a pound a month, and I need to bump it up to a pound a week. My problem is mainly the weekends - no matter what or where I go, there seems to be endless snacks and I indulge. Then I don't log and I lose the progress I made through the week. I don't gain, but then I don't lose either. I know better.9 -

Good morning everyone;
I woke up at 12:30 a.m. I was telling my therapist that I had had trouble sleeping lately. My allergies and headache woke me up this time. I think I will sleep this morning. When I wake up, I will get Rose to day camp.
Pip, maybe you needed to get away and relax to relieve that pinched nerve. Have fun on your camping trip.
Barbara, I am so glad that the lump was benign. I have been praying for that result.
Tracy—My DH says it doesn't matter; it is our money when we have a joint account. I told him I had been standing on my feet for 12 hours and should not have to ask permission to spend it on certain items.
Kim, as long as he pays his part, I am fine. We both have a strong work ethic, but I think I need to be on a spending diet. I am focusing on paying off the Bursar for my son's college balance by November. I cut down on my craft spending and didn't order from Amazon, except for some books and medication. I will work on my budget. DH asked if I could meet him in Salt Lake City, and I said no cause I had just paid for my airline ticket to Orlando in December. Please note that my son told me about his balance after I paid for the airline ticket. I am a planner and can't go somewhere at the drop of a hat. I wish I could be more spontaneous. I am older, which means more doctor appointments and so on.
Lisa, you are right. I can talk.
Allie, I want you to have a wonderful time on your cruise.
I am going to bed.
XO,
Mo

Ladies.
Yesterday I was busy busy. Ran into town early caught up shopping and grabbed another gallon of strong vinegar to attack the weeds in my driveway. That stuff works. It probably doesn't kill the roots like the Round-up does but I'll deal with that next year.
Then, since it was cool and rainy, I decided it was cook day. Made a batch of lentil-mushroom stew and stuck a roast in the crock pot. I noticed the house smelled great - like garlic and onions! Sense of smell pretty much back. (However, today, it's iffy. Allergy symptoms returning.)
Need to catch up with you gals, back later.

Barbara - I am here and fine. I just gave myself a day off.
Yesterday I wrote first thing, (Hooray!) then did a bit of exercising on the machines. Haven't used them in a long time. My physio thought it might be good if I started back. So I did five minutes on the bike and three minutes on the rower. I'm also fitting his extra knee exercises into my day, although they are not comfortable.
I decided not to go to French Circle, mainly because John didn't want to go as it was an unstructured soirée, so he would have to talk, so I decided that I would rather have a cosy evening in. Next session is a lecture about French politics, so we will go together and have a meal out first, on the way. That gets us out of the house before it gets dark, so we are less inclined to wimp out.
Today I researched for my book in the early morning. My poor brain hurts! But I enjoyed it. Then I did seven minutes on the recumbent bike and five on the rower. I had already done some exercises in the night and early morning.
Washed my hair, ready for the dentist this afternoon. Just a check up. Strangely, quite independently, John has the appointment before me, but I will be taking my urine sample to the doctor first. Just routine check.
Having corned beef sandwiches for lunch, and Lamb Tagine for dinner. We've been quite veggie and fishy recently, so a meatfest is permitted.
We've organised with the family to take them all out for Sunday lunch in October to celebrate both our birthdays. DDIL wanted to help pay, but I said it was our treat. It will give us both pleasure. We've all decided on Shandiz, the Persian restaurant. They do a musical/fountain candle celebration for birthdays, which is fun, and everyone can find something they love to eat.
We wanted to have Edie over this weekend, but she's busy with a birthday swim party for the whole class!
Right now she gets up at 5.30 on Wednesday to go to her advanced swimming lessons! Poor parents! Tough to have a talented athlete for a daughter.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx6
