How much protein do I need a day?
Hi, I'm 5'2, 108lb and 18 years old. On gym days (3X a week) I do a timed mile on the treadmill, a mile on the elliptical, calisthenics and about 45 min of weights (using 20lb dumbells for arms, 55lb barbells, squat 70lb, other stuff). I run 2.3 miles on my non-gym days + calisthenics and a 4.6 miler on Saturday. I don't…

I know that I get supper excited when I'm able to lift more weight or do a certain exercise or whatever. Not many people in my life get that however and I feel like they look at me like an alien when I say hey I benched my bodyweight today. I get really eye roll. So I thought we should brag to each other. Now what is heavy…

July 30, 2013 2:18 pm Hello, My name is Dawn and I had ACL surgery last winter so I lost a lot of muscle. Thankfully though, I began eating very healthy and lost about 30 pounds. But now, I am really trying to get my muscle back before starting the next track season. Also, I still have some fat and extra skin on my lower…

Full Body Kettlebell Workout Video!
I finally finished editing my full body circuit kettlebell workout video, which can be done at home or in the gym. I recommend having a range of kettlebells available. I used two 8lbs, one 15lbs, and one 20lbs. I also recommend doing a 1 mile warm up run (or 1/2 mile walk), and 10-15 minutes of cooldown cardio. The video…

Program suggestions?
Hey strong ladies, I'm looking for suggestions on a strength training program to follow. I've been doing Stronglifts for about a year and am just getting a little bored. I'm also dreadling the deadlift a bit now that I've hit 150% of my BW on that lift. I've tried NROLFW and it's just too time consuming since I travel 3…

If you don't want an injury, stay away from Crossfit
Sadly, I just heard about another fitness minded friend that got injured doing Crossfit While Crossfit might be a way to get fit fast, the sport has a higher rate of injury than most Crossfit box owners are willing to admit. At many Crossfits, the workouts can be extreme, and the coaches very pushy. I know several people…

When do the weight increases slow down?
OK This may sound like a silly question to you all, but I've only been lifting for about 2 months now. I am under the guidance of a personal trainer and he seems to be good for me. Each week so far my lifts have got heavier by a couple of kgs, but I am now wondering how soon I will get to the weight where I struggle to do…

What kind of progress did you make in 6 months?
Hello! I'm a complete newbie to weightlifting, so I decided to sign up with a personal trainer (who is also a former professional bodybuilder) last night. I'll be working with him 3x per week. My big motivation to get serious about weightlifting is a trip to New Zealand in 6 months! I want to be as fit as possible before…

Strength training and cardio
Ok, I have a question for all of you ladies. I sometimes will do a combo workout where I will do both cardio and strength training. Now, in the past, I had heard that it is best to do the strength training first before the cardio. I just want to make sure I am using my time wisely. This is what I would do: 5min warmup on…

Good morning... I'm a 52 year old female, have lost a total of about 40lbs over the past two years when diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, 15 more to get to suggested goal weight and have been advised by my doctor to start "strength training" for both fitness and the T2 along with my walking every day and improved dietary…

bulking
I've been lifting for a couple of months and I've just started stronglifts 5x5. I've lost a small amount of weight and I've reached the point where I probably don't want to lose any more. Don't know what my body fat is but started at 25% and pretty sure it has decreased. I still feel a bit flabby even though I'm relatively…

When should I increase in weight?
How many reps do you guys usually do, in regards to bench press and leg lifts? I've gone from 45lbs bench pressing to 55lbs in about a month and 22lbs to 33lbs on the leg lifts. I can do less in succession, obviously, with the heavier weights but at what point do you think would be good to increase? I usually do anywhere…

Okay I have to admit I am little worried about getting back into Weights. I have been just using things around the house (Coffee Cans, Cans, and what ever else I can lift using my hands). New to strength training.
For the past few weeks I have been seeing a trainer at the gym to show me the ropes with lifiting. The first couple of weeks we were in the smaller weight area of the gym, using the kettlebells for deadlifts, rows and presses, but now he's moved me over to the main weights area... Damn I feel like I am invading the boys…
