Ok to wear a white/gray patterned dress to a wedding
Yes or no? Everyone I've asked has says it's fine but I'm still hmmming and hawwing over it. Also I'm going stag and will be 6'1, 6'2 in my heels so I don't need to stand out in a negative way. Give it to me straight MFP.

How do I make the snow melt faster?! HELP!!
The snow is nice and all around Christmas time, but now I want to start the C25K program and the sidewalks and trails are covered in ice and snow and mud and slush, so I am not here for this crap anymore. I broke my leg playing tag on wet grass when I was 9, so I really don't like running on wet surfaces. The treadmill at…

Mood drops after intense cardio?
I have noticed a few times that soon after an energetic cardio workout in the morning, my mood will sometimes drop and and feel really blah. Not really depressed, but just apathetic and depleted, and not pumped up for the day ahead like some people feel. I don't do fasted cardio, and stay properly hydrated throughout…

Anyone else's Polar FT4 discolor over time?
I've had my Polar FT4 HRM for about 9 months now, the bronze/beige one, and it's gone all dark and dingy looking. It hasn't been through the wash or exposed to harsh chemicals or anything like that. I bought the display model HRM at the store (stupid me) because it was the last one they had and I didn't want to wait for…

Chiropractors against lifting heavy?
I went to a chiro appointment last week because I have chronic problems with my lower back and hips and, and I try to be careful when working out and I stretch A LOT, but I still need adjustments from time to time. When I told my chiropractor what I've been doing in the gym, he said 'barbell squats and deadlifts are OUT.…

Can't stop checking out my assets, HELP!
I am beginning to have a real problem. Over the past year I've started squatting heavy, and recently I've lost my "shelf butt" as they call it. Now I can't help but check out my derriere when I walk past a mirror, or any reflective vertical surface. I used to avoid mirrors and cameras out of shame and self-hatred, but now…

Eating at a deficit when you're feeling sick OK?
I'm starting to feel sick. Not pukey, stomach flu sick where you don't have an appetite, but just general head cold symptoms - feeling tired and rundown, like my head is in a bubble, and irritated throat/lungs. I get more than enough sleep and I'm not particularly stressed, so it must be a bug of some kind. I've seen…

25, want to lose 100lbs., ED recovery, P90X, looking for fri
Hi, I'm Nat, 25 years old. In my late teens I struggled with bulimia and calorie restriction. I'm at the beginning of a new weight loss journey and I'm hoping to make some friends on here, especially those who know what it's like to be in recovery while still trying to shed weight. I am currently at my highest weight ever…

Knees clicking during squats
Does anyone else have this when working out? My knee joints make audible clicks and crunch noises when I go into squats and lunges. Sometimes my elbows and hips do too - I just reached over to pick up the phone and my elbow made a loud pop. I don't have any pain during or after this happens, and I've asked both my…

Mini workouts to do at home, throughout the day?
For the past two years I've been working from home, and just recently picked up a part-time catering job so I can be a little more active outside of the gym. But there are still days where I spend far too many hours just sitting around, and an hour at the gym just isn't enough to make up for it, plus I'm not a fan of 2…

Eating with your eyes at the food museum...
...AKA the grocery store  Anyone else do this? :embarassed: Wandering over to the bakery, inspecting all the cookies, muffins, cakes and desserts. Browsing the frozen desserts section, as well as the cookie and snack foods aisle. Looking, but not touching. A year ago this would have been dangerous and torture for…

Is anyone on a low-fat diet? Why?
I came across a 6-week eating plan that someone was given by a nutritionist, and they swear by it and said they lost 25lbs. in 6 weeks time (I know that may not be realistic or healthy and is relative to their body, but still I am in a plateau and need something to kick-start my weight loss again) Upon closer inspection I…

OA meetings when you're not spiritual/religious?
So I've been thinking about going to an Overeater's Anonymous meeting for a while now, but after reading about the 12 steps and attending an online "meeting", I am more than a little uncomfortable with the religious part of it all...I don't "look to God for strength" or anything like that. I'm not sure if I'm agnostic or…

Always over fat intake but under cals, does it matter?
So I've noticed this past month, I am always over on my fats, and usually under on my carb goals for the day. I set my macros to 40/30/30 for 1500-1600 calories, but I really struggle to eat more than 125g of carbs (limit is 150), and REALLY struggle to eat less than 50-60g of fat per day (which usually comes from peanut…

Another Stage 1 Newbie with questions, oh joy...
Hi! so I started NROL4W last Wednesday, and I'm about to do workout B today. I do have a few questions though: - I felt a little sore in my upper body after the day 1 workout, but not in my lower body, so I'm wondering if I should increase the weight resistance already, for squats and step-ups? and by how much at a time?…

How do you handle birthdays and other celebrations? (cake an
I am going to a friends birthday, and was told that it is a "bake-off" so to bring a dessert, and the champagne and liquor will be flowing. I usually only consume alcohol now for special occasions like this (1-3 drinks), so I don't have a problem indulging a bit, but alcohol AND eating sweets together makes me nervous. I…

Biggest and Slowest losers, where are you?
Anyone else here a slow loser? I have very similar eating and exercise habits to a couple of my MFP friends (with similar stats) but my weight loss is just crawling along at a snail's pace. Now this is NOT an intentional slow loss, I would love to lose a steady 2lbs a week, but I'm trying to accept that this is just the…

Circuit training? rude much??
Question about those who circuit train on weight machines at the gym: Um, do you feel like a bit of an *kitten* doing it? haha because I kind of do. My gym doesn't have that red light or anything to indicate it's a circuit area, and everyone else just sits and chills on their weight machines between reps, so I'm scared…

Albumen/albumin powder (egg white protein) yay or nay?
I was at my local health food store, and overheard this guy singing the praises of using albumen for protein in smoothies instead of whey. It has a lot less ingredients/fillers than most whey protein powders, a substantial amount of protein, and he claimed that you can barely taste it. Also good if you're lactose…

Um..dropping your kids off at the pool when it first opens?
I hope everyone got my euphemism haha...I'd like to drop 'em off soon after waking up in the morning, before breakfast and my morning weigh-in to have a more consistent weigh-in week-to-week, but more often than not I can't wait that long to eat breakfast. Does anyone know how to time this with either not eating at a…

Yoga anxiety when you're bigger/ P90X yoga vs. regular yoga
Ok, so I've only done at-home yoga before (including Yoga X from P90X, and it was not a great experience, most of the moves were just too advanced for me and I got injured) and it's all fine and good in the privacy of my living room. I want to try a yoga class, but I have some hesitation and worries, mostly: - not being…

BACON! cooked vs. uncooked calories
I don't eat bacon that often, so I'm not sure how to put it into my MFP diary. The brand I buy is 230 calories and 22 grams of fat for 2 uncooked pieces, and when I cook it I drain it in paper towels and pat completely dry, so how do you figure out the calorie/fat/sodium difference once the bacon's cooked?

Scale hasn't moved in two weeks...why?
*cross-posted* MFP set me at 1380 calories a day for a 2 pound loss, i bumped that up to 1700 to incorporate my exercise calories evenly throughout the week because I find it hard to eat an extra 700-800 calories in one day and make good food choices. I eat whole foods for the most part, lots of veggies. Weight is…

pain - soreness or injury
Last Friday, I did a lifting class for an hour for the first time, and it really worked my arms. my biceps and forearm muscles were quite sore on Saturday and Sunday, but felt better this morning, so I went to a Zumba class (no toning weights or anything, but some arm movement) And now my bicep hurts more than ever,…

Strawberry Cheesecake Smoothie
I just made this and it's so amazing so I thought I'd share. Another altrenative is leaving out the almond milk and blending only the strawberries and pouring that over the ricotta+vanilla mixture for a low fat "cheesecake" Serves 1 Ingredients: • 1/2 cup quartered strawberries (frozen or fresh) • 1/4 cup low fat ricotta…

Should I bother with building muscle now?
Hi, I am asking this because I have around 90lbs to lose, and since I am at the start of my weight loss I would really like to see the pounds go down first and foremost, I know that I have a long way to go before I start seeing any sort of muscle definition because it's all covered by fat at this point. I really enjoy…
