Will sweating irritate and make cold sores worse?
Hey everyone, Unfortunately this morning I woke up with a HUGE cold sore on my lip and it's already got really swollen. I am taking some valacyclovir to help make the healing process faster. I really want to go to the gym and work out. But last time I exercised with a cold sore when I was taking valacyclovir, it wasn't…

Waist trainers? Belt?
I’ve been seeing a lot of people wearing waist trainers in the gym while they’re working out. Especially when they are lifting / doing ab workouts. Does it help with anything? Especially does it help with losing your “rolls” and make it rounder or flatter ? I have no idea what I’m talking about lmao. So I’m v curious on…

Garmin watch for tracking?
Hi everyone, I have been considering getting a Garmin watch to replace my fitbit bit but I have a couple questions. If you have a garmin watch, how has it been for tracking your running and other fitness activities? Have you had issues connecting it to my fitness pal? How has your watch held up? I am a heavy equipment…

Best c25k?
I've recently started running again. It's been a while and although I've been going to the gym doing weights, I haven't done decent cardio for ages (foot, achilles, toe issues). So now I'm able, I decided to do couch 2 5k. I downloaded the British NHS one which has data fields and I can use it with my garmin. However, I've…

Feeling Sick During Floor Exercises
It's hard for me to do any floor exercise without feeling incredibly sick. I would love to do Pilates, even attempted yesterday, but I got too sick. I feel fine with cardio and weights, but for some reason, once I'm moving around on the floor, I get nauseous. Can anyone else relate? If so, how did you overcome this?

Any other bone on bone arthritis suffers
About 2.5 years ago I woke up and my knees were so bad - on the past a few sore days but they quickly got so bad I swore I tore something. Nope went to an orthopedic Dr and he asked how I've been managing - they were bone on bone - on warfin for heart valve so not a great replacement candidate. Looking for others to share…

Alternatives to sugar hit for workout?
I personally find my life is better when I avoid sugar. But it provides a really nice hit to fuel a workout. I definitely notice better performance when I eat a sweetened snack before working out. But I don’t like the other effects on me! Any suggestions? My ideas: - just quit eating sugar and deal with whatever level I…

Running: Does speed impact calories burned?
I know this topic exists in other spots, but I wanted to add a wrinkle. From a physics perspective, Work = Force x Distance. So moving a 120 kg object 5km is the same amount of work, whether it's done in a minute or an hour. To that end, you'd imagine that someone walking 3 miles would burn the same calories as someone…

Hip/thigh stretches for runners? Or exercises?
After a few years of running with zero stretching (yes, bad, I know  ) I'm starting to get some minor complaints. Not while running, but in daily life. My hips can be a bit stiff (especially my right side) and my range of motion is quite poor. My squat depth is ludicrous without propping my heels up. Butterfly pose…

Ladies Who Run Walk or Cycle
If your local police department or college offer the RAD series of classes, please consider signing up. Damn plantar fasciitis
For runners out there who've had it, what shoes have you purchased that helped to alleviate it? The shoes I have are good, but since I've upped my game in intervals (running up to 10mph), it's caused an issue. When I ran under 10mph, I didn't have much of an issue. Once it's totally subsided, I plan to do intervals again…

Does it matter if you start the week with upper or lower?
I do a 4 day upper/lower split. I normally start the week with heavy legs then arms next day. I read somewhere you should do heavier days towards end of week to recover? My arms tend to get tired on lower days (short girl probs) so wondering if I should flip it, and start the week with bench press/upper day then "heavier"…

Plantar fasciitis
When not in the mountains skiing (my primary sport) my main cardio training is running. I run in “proper” running shoes and change them out every 5-700km. My current shoes have 300 and <100km on them (2 pairs). My usual mileage (sorry mixed units coming) is of the order of 15-20km per week. Over the summer, somehow I would…

Scapular winging: strengthening exercise
So yeah, you probably know I had a bad shoulder accident. Things are getting better. One thing still not ok is strength around the scapular on one side: there's winging, it's a bit too far away from the spine and when lifting up the arm the shoulder still rolls a bit to the front. And that reduces strength in that arm. I…

Thought I might get a year best and…

I thought I would try one of those virtual walking tours to keep me motivated. As motivation, it is working far better than I even anticipated.
