Sticking long term?!
I am counting calories and it's going surprisingly well. I am so afraid I'll lose focus or become over confident and loose my progress. How do you keep focus and motivation to keep moving forward /improving in all aspects of life?

Alcohol --> weight bump (50+)
Maybe it's that I'm a 50+ Holiday weekend, parties with drinks, weight bumps up 2-3lbs. In the next few days (not drinking on weekdays, generally) it comes right back off. Why do I care? Well, now I jog a few days a week, and carrying around those extra few pounds is hard!

Biggest swing yet: 10# in 57 hours. What's yours?
I will admit these are semi-bogus weights. Sunday night after paddling 3 hours I weighed 150.2. I was dehydrated and had a low calorie day to make up for a high calorie day on Saturday. But I had a few weigh ins in the low 150s recently with none above 155 in several days. Yesterday I went way over, like double. I have a…

Recomp
I want to start a recomp after losing about 45lbs. I'm 5'3" and 111lbs. MFP recommends 1520cals to maintain weight but this seems low? I'm quite sedentary but was losing on 1400. I'm also brand new to maintaining and don't know what's the best way for me to recomp? Should I start a solid exercise plan or hire a trainer?…

I only have 5 lbs to lose and I 'm considering starting to eat at maintenance while hoping to still lose the last 5 lbs slowly. ..while trying to find the right maintenance calories.Reason being is, I continued to lose weight last time I reached my goal weight and i ended up being under my goal weight which was too thin,…

Am I just replacing muscle with fat?
67 y.o. male, 5'10. I lost 20 pounds last year (first-time dieter) with MFP. BMI now 23. I'm at my target weight of 161. I have never done heavy weights, just resistance and body weight, spinning, walking, swimming. I've maintained my 20-pound loss. And, I'm doing a lot less exercise and no longer counting calories. I'm…

Struggling to eat enough calories
I am 7 weeks postpartum. I’ve been finding myself forgetting to eat enough to get myself through the day. I am happy with my weight and I’ve noticed myself losing more weight plus no energy.. so it’s obvious I’m not getting enough. Please don’t hate when I say, I just forget to eat and/or don’t feel hungry because my mind…

Below range action
Hey all you maintainers, how many days under range until you take action? Do you wait for your trend line to be below range? I'm struggling because in the past I've over shot my goal and used that as an excuse to gain weight back but that would lead to shame eating/ bingeing. I need help with a pragmatic approach. Also…

Yup. Hit Scream Weight.
I knew it was coming, but today was the day. My goal weight is 125 (5-7”f) which I hit last Feb. Late summer creeped up to 135, over winter hit 145. Today, BAM! 150, the weight I said I would never see again. Technically, this doesn’t even belong in this thread, but you are my people. Yes, I know what needs to happen, but…

Switching to Maintenance as a Long Distance Runner (Training for Marathons)
This year I've started the process of going from an Obese Runner to a Healthy Weight runner. In another month or two i'll have dropped 60 pounds bringing me under my upper range of healthy weight. I currently run over 20 miles a week. I've lost the weight with MFP set to sedentary and wearing one of my garmins (vivosmart 4…

Will a couple of days over maintenance end up being a big deal?
Sorry if this sounds stupid but I'm new to maintaining. When I'd have a few off days when I was eating 1200-1500 I wouldn't worry since I was in a deficit before/after and I thought it would all balance out. My maintenance is 1600-1750 or so and I've hit 2300 yesterday and just over 2000 today due to not really…

Motivation to continue entering meals
So I’m currently in the process of losing weight again. I’ve used this app in the past and have been able to find success, but now I’m losing again as I have gained some back. I know I’ll hit my goal, because my metabolism allows me to lose weight quickly when I diet. That being said, I have a hard time entering food once…

Help! I've lost more weight than I intended to and need to think about maintaining.
Hi, I started out wanting to lose a few lbs before 2 holidays came up, so that I could enjoy my food (as per usual...then). One holiday (10 day duration) has already passed and I regularly went over my maintenance calories but still ended up with a 2lbs loss. Since then I'm still losing (5.2lbs in 14 days). The next…

Should I keep increasing calories to find maintenance if I'm not losing?
Hey guys. I've posted here before about my struggle figuring out maintenance calories, and looking for a bit more insight. In theory my maintenance calories should be 1950 to 2100 based on my initial weight loss, but I'm now averaging 1650 calories and am technically maintaining - up and down between 129.7 and 131.8 for…

Why is it hard to maintain weight for years through intuitive eating?
I'm just looking for thoughts. A watched a video by Natasha Oceane on YT who is a huge advocate of IE. Not going to lie, it is disheartening watching someone eat whatever they want in moderation and know that is something I can't do myself without watching the weight creep back up. I don't want to count calories forever.

Those who maintain without exercising...
I'm looking ahead to when I reach my goal weight and estimating that my maintenance caloric goal will be around 1,870. I wonder if I can feasibly eat at this level for the rest of eternity. Before starting my weight loss journey, I was eating around 2,200 calories a day. My plan is to add daily cardio exercise to burn off…

New to Maintenance: still losing
Hello friends! Long and short of it: I’m still losing like a pound a week even after I keep increasing calories to get to maintenance, and I think it’s because I’m too scared to go too close to maintenance calorie levels that I’ve calculated but that seem too high. Coming off about 11 months of weight loss (total of 90…

Hair Shedding IN MAINTENANCE
I lost 15-20 lb eating 1300-1450 calories per day and felt fine. Current weight 132-136, 5’5’’ tall. Now that I am maintaining, my hair is shedding like crazy. I am either counting to around 1600 per day OR (most often) just eating more intuitively because I am eating out more now for celebrations, Mother’s Day tonight,…

This challenge is specific to Maintainers who may have lost a little enthusiasm along the journey to better health - let’s use this space as a discussion / accountability thread to get back on track and ultimately back in goal range. Check in as often as you like (weekly or bi-weekly preferred). I just ask that you focus…

Maintenance - worried
I’m small - 5’1. I’ve decided to move to maintenance at least for a while - I’m not at my original goal weight of 105 lm but I’m a healthy BMI now at 112 lb. But I hadn’t realised quite how few calories I could have at maintenance - around 1400 according to MFP - for the rest of my life! How do others manage it - do you…

How do I go back to maintenance?
I’m doing 1,200 calories a day right now and should reach my goal in a couple months, when I go back to maintaining my weight can I expect to gain a little in the beginning? I think I will need about 1,850 to maintain.

Best advice
After a long journey, I’m close to my goal weight. In thinking about maintenance, I’m curious what others have found to be the hardest part or what is different than they thought would be.

Innocent snacks
Innocent snacks. I was eating LateJuly chips with salsa fooling myself that my active lifestyle would counter the calories. wrongwrongwrong. A week ago, I started to get an aftertaste from all chips (the salt, I think), so I switched to a hippie trail mix and guess what. I dropped 4 lbs. Without the chips and salsa, I can…

Question when adjusting medications on maintenance
I'm not quite to maintenance, but I find this board to be super helpful and since i am only 6 pounds away here I am. I have been on wellbutrin for the past 6 months. I have successfully managed my depression with diet and exercise in the past. For a variety of reasons I plan to work with my doctor to discontinue the…

Struggling to figure out maintainence.
I reached my goal weight about 6 weeks ago. I’ve been here before, but in the past, I reach my goal, stop tracking, and gain it all back. For the first few weeks, I stayed at a deficit because I was so afraid of gaining weight. (I didn’t, and in fact, lost a few more pounds.) The past few weeks, I’ve had days I didn’t…

Maintaining while trying to lose
After losing 110 pounds over a year and a half doing “dirty keto” I’ve been maintaining my weight. I still want to lose another 20-30 pounds to be around 130 pounds. Recently I’ve started IF (intermittent fasting) and I’m trying to stop bingeing as I used to binge once a week. I’m currently three weeks and one day binge…
