After work yesterday, I ran 3 miles on the trail in our local park. My calves were cramping the entire time. Guess I need to up the water intake. This morning, it was 26F when I headed out and 30F when I finished but at least the wind wasn’t blowing like it has been the past couple of days. Bring Spring back please! I have a trail race tomorrow at Natural Tunnel State Park. 100% chance of rain in the forecast brings promises of a slippery, muddy day. A chance to make memories!
I like your running art @Polskagirl01! Glad you’re not overdoing it with the quad healing.

@WhatMeRunning Nice job on your run. Congrats on meeting your goal already.
@Teresa502 You're doing great. Sorry about the cramps yesterday. Glad you got a good run in today. I want Spring back too!!! Good luck with the race tomorrow. I hope the forecast is wrong and it doesn't rain, unless, of course, you want to run in a cold rain.2 -

It's supposed to rain tomorrow, so today was to day to mow mom's yard. My job today was doing the trim work with the push mower. It took me 44 minutes and, according to Garmin, I walked 0.94 miles doing that. It was 54°F and cloudy. I thought it felt really cool so had on a sweat shirt and sweat pants and I didn't get hot. Next week, it's supposed to be in the 80's! Crazy Spring weather.
I know that could be considered great running weather by some, and I probably would have enjoyed it had I ran outside, but I chose to run on the treadmill again today after we finished the lawn. I ran at 5 min at 4.3 mph, 5 min at 4.5 mph, 5 x (1 min @ 6 mph/2 min @ 4.3 mph), then 7:42 min @ 4.3 mph. My HR never made it into Zone 5, but 6 mph was definitely a hard/fast pace for me.6 -
Hi Everyone -- New to group but not new to running although since i've gained weight over the past 5 years, I haven't run/jogged as often as in previous years. I'm excited to get started and didn't want to wait for May challenge. Given that it's the 23rd, my goal is 20 miles by 4/30/21. totally doable but my problem has always been consistency!10

Welcome to the group @GatorLally !
10k last night on the Greenline. We keep getting out late - last night we ended up running faster than easy pace because we really needed to get off the Greenline before dark! Pretty evening, perfect weather. We are still slower than we were a couple of months ago, not sure why.6 -
Welcome @GatorLally ! This is a great group.
@rheddmobile Glad you were able to run the Greenline again. The speed will come back, I'm sure.2 -

Hey all!
Have been away for the last week, have skipped over 100 posts. Hope you all doing well!
It's school holidays here so I went on holiday with my kids (7 and 4) around part of the South island with my best friend and
her 3yr old twins.
Pics and recap in the spoiler.
We drove to my mums place in Wellington stayed the night then up early to fly Dunedin and drove to Te Anau for the night. The next day we went to Milford sound, one of the most beautiful places on the planet - and for proof it's a UNESCO world heritage site!
It's full of waterfalls, and just beautiful. We saw Weka (the small birds on the walk)
dolphins - no pics sadly. And a Kea munching on a car! They are famous for ripping all the rubber off cars.
The following day we drove through queenstown on our way to Wanaka and went up gondola on the hill for a stunning view.
We stayed 3 nights in Wanaka and mostly chilled out. We went to a place called puzzling world, which has a lot of illusions, and a giant maze.
One of the illusion rooms, My 4yr old is on the left in red, and my 7yr old on the right.
This was Miss 7s birthday, and sadly the youngest were all feeling the green eyes monster, and they were all a bit grumpy this day. But other than that they all had a blast.
On our last day we had to be in Dunedin in 3hrs,and had 6hrs to drive it. So we decided to take the scenic route that was set for 4hrs... Well we got to the airport with 8 minutes to spare!
I managed a couple of runs while I was away and really enjoyed running in different places. My watch was handy, having the map of where I was when in an unfamiliar place was fantastic.
We had an absolute blast. My 7yr old turned 7 while on our trip which she LOVED!
Yesterday we got back to my mums place, and this morning I did a long run along her local river. Its wonderful.
So now I'm getting back into it. Yay!

What a beautiful day for it!!! my apologies for my tardiness checking in today, I know I am little late and should have posted by, erm... February!
Interesting time, injured my knee in Jan, made it worse in Feb coming back too early, two year ends at my new job (we have Dec and our parent Co has Mar), every week I was the bad news bear - £30k worse for this, £50k worse for that until eventually I made the magical "Your results are £1M worse than when you bought the company last year" - good job on the due diligence Mr Auditor!
In the process many nights without sleep, stuffing my fat face (I knew what I was doing and ate a whole 3kg bag of jelly beans in a week) and no exercise so I imagine I will be around 230 lbs when I weigh in tomorrow.
The past cannot be changed, cycled to and from work for the last couple of days. Year end and most of the audit completed so I can get back to a routine. A long way from my target of running a marathon later this year but I have to do this!
I have read through all the posts I missed, well maybe skim read a bit - there was over 1,000!!!!
@Camaramandy648 achievements abound, congratulations on the On run crew appointment, surviving bee stings and a belated happy birthday
@hamsterwheel6 I'm not sure what Morton's Neuroma is but it sounds like Morton should keep it to himself!
@kirstymn hope the parkrun is a regular thing, still waiting for them to restart in the UK
@rheddmobile some great runs and fantastic that your hip is all good
@martaindale brilliant HM time!
@Faebert I totally feel you with injury and UK lockdown, I'll follow your lead and get back out there
@shanaber good to see you are recovering, I hope you neighbour is okay after the cat attack!
@skippygirlsmom you have got more steps in than me and you are just out of a cast - good to have you up and around again
@ContraryMaryMary the Mairaeta HM looks like a great challenge, not sure I'm ready for uphills again just yet
@RunsOnEspresso fantastic signing up for the virtual BM, keep us in the loop on how the training is going
@Katharmonic very impressed, especially the 'injured' HM
@Avidkeo another great HM and I am sad I missed tracking you through it
@polskagirl01 glad your rest worked out and your quads have decided to do what they are told!
@quilteryoyo you have a lovely grand-niece
@eleanorhawkins you are unusually quiet, what are you planning
My apologies to you and the others ( @Scott6255 @AlphaHowls @Tramboman @Teresa502 @kgirlhart @marisap2010 and others) for not keeping up on the Run the World challenge and thank you to @quilteryoyo and others for keeping things 'real' on the way!
Welcome and welcome back to the newbies and returnees
Right, day 1 of my new streak. I am again fat, fat with a capital FATBASTA.. and I am going to try a gentle 5k to kick things off.
I am not qualified to join in on the 'leakage' discussion so I can only refer you to youtube
To everyone else feel free to share something more with us, I'd love to hear successes, offer support or just have a good laugh together.
Keep safe, stay awesome!!!

Sunny, low 40s F, and a breeze from the south today. Didn't start well (as usual) but finished well.
Those are some fantastic pictures, @Avidkeo . Glad you and the fam had a great time.
When you pop in here claiming your December 2021 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?
PUT THE FUN BACK IN THE RUN!

Sometimes you just feel like a dumbass. Let me tell you about this morning.
I had a trail race this morning. I got up, had a cup of coffee and some oatmeal, and got ready to go. I was going through my checklist: vest, bib belt, pass, wallet, phone etc and still felt like I was forgetting something.
It's about a 30 minute drive so I head out the door around 6:20 to give me time at the gate & to use the bathroom before I start. Plenty of time.
I turn onto the road that goes into the park and I suddenly realized what I forgot. My mask. I freaking forgot the one required item. 🤦🏼♀️
So I turned around, went home, changed shoes and went out in my neighborhood.
Virtual Saguaro 7k done. No where near a Saguaro but 🤷🏼♀️9 -

Actually I walked or stopped at some points to make sure the GPS caught it right. You're very close - sokol is a falcon, and this is their eagle, so "orzeł polski"
...and then to add to the fun, jastrząb is a hawk, so my [new] town of Jastrzębie-Zdrój translates as "Hawk Spa". Try to pronounce all of those without spraining your tongue!
I behaved and biked today, around 10k, then hiked in the woods with my daughter. My kids have very different hiking styles. This one likes to talk - the whole way, haha. Quad feels fine, but I want it to also feel fine with me running at least 40k/week.It'sgettingpretty in the woods.Re: Strava art. Great to see you back @TheMrWobbly! Sounds like you have had a rough couple of months. Just ease back into it and you'll be back to your old self in no time.
Yeah @RunsOnEspresso that's frustrating when your mind just flakes out on you. But great job doing the race virtually!
14 miles this morning (well afternoon I guess). Longest run of the year so far. And unfortunately it felt like it. Had to take several walk breaks, and it was quite warm and windy. But got it done.

Today’s Run the Tunnel race was held at a local state park. The route was part pavement through the campground and then went into the woods on trails. It started a light rain about 30 minutes before the start. It was in the mid-40s so a little chilly. Luckily the parking lot was right beside the start area so I waited with a friend in her car until about 5 minutes before the start. It was a small turnout. There were 46 finishers. It’s a tough race so the field has never been huge. I think last time we had it in 2019 there were 66 finishers. There were two sets of stone steps to climb on the trail part and they were slippery. I took it gingerly on the wet pavement going downhill also because I was afraid it would be slick. I managed to stay upright the entire time. My finish time was over 2 minutes slower than the same race in 2019 but I placed 3rd in my age group! (Never mind there were only three of us in my age group.) All the runners were very supportive of each other and it was great to see everyone out running.

Since you said those years were misspent, I won't ask what your other 4 words are And the legal drinking age here is lower, I think 18 but apparently much younger if the child is drinking at home... but I also just read that it's illegal to drink outside in public (I mean you can't even legally eat in public right now because of mask regulations, and bars are closed anyway, but apparently it was illegal before as well) and now I'm confused because I'm sure I've seen it happening and the rules seem contradictory to me.3 -
@pfeiferlindsey Hahaha He was probably messing with you!
Oh no @RunsOnEspresso ! Sorry you didn't get to run the race in person.
@polskagirl01 Nice bike ride and hike. I almost missed the duck in the first picture. It is getting green and pretty.
@Tramboman Wow. Great job on the golfing!
@Scott6255 Congratulations on your longest run for the year. There's no shame in having to take walk breaks. As long as you are moving forward, you are making progress.
@Teresa502 Glad you stayed upright during your race. Having to be careful on the wet pavement and stone affected your pace, I'm sure. Congrats on your AG placement!

I had planned to just walk today, but started thinking about my schedule tomorrow and how much I didn't want to get up early enough to run in the morning before church, nor did I want to wait until 4 pm to run. Since those were my only choices for tomorrow, I decided to get my long run in this afternoon instead. Farthest I've run since surgery! I think that was close to my limit today, even though it was really slow.6 -
@rheddmobile The Run The World Group is almost to Memphis. See you tomorrow, probably.1

Hi all - so sorry not to catch up with you all at the moment. I read through some quickly.
I had some busy days and then flew down to Florida yesterday morning to spend a few days with my mom. I missed a few days of running because wednesday and thursday were SNOWY and cold and then traveling. But got out this morning and ran on the beach. The sand was very hard packed so it was not too bad, but still my feet are kind of sore. Not sure if it's from that or all the walking around on the beach barefoot, probably the latter.
I'm hoping to run again the tomorrow and maybe Monday before I head back but it's supposed to rain tomorrow.7 -
I’m not sure five cocktails is the correct number for pre-run fueling on a long run. Started later than planned (which was still better than hubby expected) and was running ok, if a smidge slow, but was feeling it a bit at 6km, recovered by 11km, started to finally feel good about 14km.
Shattered now. Serves me right for trying to have a social life 😂12 -

RACE REPORT:
Today was the Run For The Children 10K. It was my first time to run an official 10K race. I have run a few 5K races and a few Half Marathons and I run the 10K distance a lot, but I was excited to get to finally run a 10K race. My best time for a 10K was 58:50, so my goal was 57 minutes.
I planned out what I would wear and tried to go to bed early. I didn't get to bed as early as I wanted, but I didn't stay up too late and slept OK. I got up and got ready. It was 55°F which seems perfect, but there were 14 mph NNW winds and it was cloudy so it seemed pretty chilly. I still wore the shorts and tank top I had planned on and wore my jacket but planned to take it off when I ran.
The race was in a town 30 miles away so we headed out. It was easy to find the race and I went to pick up my packet. But the lady checking me in couldn't find it. She was looking around and I asked if she needed my registration email but she said no she remembered writing my name on the back of the bib. But she decided to just give me a new one. This wasn't helping my nerves, but she was really nice so I took the new bib and the swag bag and headed to the bathroom. When I was headed back (after pinning on my bib) she came running up to me with my original bib. So I swapped them out repinned the bib.
While we were waiting to start I kept debating about whether I should keep my jacket on or not. I repinned my bib on my jacket, but then I decided I would get hot and at the last minute I took off the jacket and put the bib back on my shirt. I'm pretty sure my husband thought I was nuts.
We lined up and the horn sounded. I started off and felt pretty good. By the first mile I was glad I didn't wear my jacket. There was one girl ahead of me and as I passed her I could tell she was already breathing hard. Another woman was kind of beside me but they both dropped behind me. Then between the second and third mile a woman passed me and I was pretty sure I wouldn't be able to catch her. My number one goal was 57 minutes so I didn't want to waste energy chasing her. Then a couple of women started pulling up beside me. One of them was a woman who beat me in the first two 5Ks that we ran against each other in. But I finally beat her and I wasn't going to let her beat me again. Knowing that she was right behind me really helped me push through. I was starting to get tired, but then I started passing some people who were walking the 5K. That was kind of motivating. Plus at the point where we rejoined the 5K route I knew that there was only about a mile to go. I was pretty excited coming to the finish because I knew I would get my PR and also that there was only one woman ahead of me. So I was 1st in my AG and 2nd Female plus I got my PR. My official chip time was 55:46:28 with an average pace of 8.56. I was really pleased with that. And my husband got a race picture of me running with both feet off the ground.
I am having trouble loading pictures, so I will try to post some later. And I need to catch up on the thread.
