It's actually hard on my joints because of their shape. But that's abnormal.
I swear I thought it was just me. I can't do the elipical; it kills my knees when everyone says how great it is I'm just assuming I have the weirdest stride ever then.
I actually have femurs in the wrong shape. But it's possible you have an issue too.
Yeah I'm another one. I just blamed my legs being too short to properly get a stride going on that thing. We had to put a pillow on the back seat of our recumbent bike ( husband picked it out without me) for me to reach the pedals all the way without leaning so I figured it was just one more thing like that
Yeah. Length is not an issue for me, but that could be an issue with an eliptical too.
I have pointed out to my mom that she has t-Rex arms and legs. Mine may be twisted, but they are long.1 -
My first post but I have to share this. My mother-in-law this week alone:
-Ice water turns food directly to fat. Only hot drinks should be consumed.
-Low carb and organic is the only way to lose weight.
-Food made from wheat based flour will make you gain weight automatically because your body can't digest it.
-You need to have a superfood shake every morning to jump start your metabolism. (No idea what is in this other than broccoli and hemp protein powder but it must be served warm).
-Apple cider vinegar should be drank twice a day to flush toxins.
-All sugar is the devil unless its organic maple syrup or honey. Then you can have as much as you want because its healthy.
-Any oil other than extra virgin olive oil will make you gain weight but olive oil will make you lose it so put it in everything.
I'm sure there's more but I've started to tune her out. The 20+ pounds I've lost so far doing CICO are going to come right back though because I'm not eating the right foods lol.

Oh man. Your MIL sounds a lot like someone I know!! I am cracking up at this. I think they must believe most of the same things.
I know a woman who makes a pan of brownies every weekend with organic chocolate, agave syrup, coconut oil, etc, and eats it all. She says it's full of real food ~ healthy food ~ good food, so it doesn't hurt her diet. Through the week she lives on scrambled eggs, chicken breasts and steamer bags of veggies.
To be fair, she HAS lost a good amount of weight (OF COURSE because of her lower calorie diet...she aims to lose 150+ and is down by about 40, which is great) but she believes that you can eat unlimited vegetables and organic ingredients and things like honey and coconut oil all day long because it is real, healthy, good for you, etc...she refuses to believe in calories.
That is what she says. "I don't believe in calories".11 -
When people try and tell me to just have another baby. - yeah no been there tried that went crazy, now i'm dealing with weight gain and depression.

Errr, what specifically is wrong with the people saying this to you? I think we need a full team of therapists on this ASAP.6 -

A couple of months ago a coworker was telling me about a video he watched on Netflix and as a result he became vegan and he tried to tell me how great it was and how veggies have more protein than meat (is that even possible???). He really tried to persuade me to watch the video because it would change my life. I saw him a couple of weeks ago and he's back eating meat again. This is the same guy who told me that studies show that your water will be better for you if you talk to it.
I'm no doctor or psychiatrist. But it appears this male suffers from a mental health issue.
Talk to your water ??? Unbelievable
I've actually heard about this, and here it is lol. http://highexistence.com/water-experiment/
Yup that's the guy - Masaru Emoto - my aunt gave my mother this book:
The Hidden Messages in Water
In this New York Times bestseller, internationally renowned Japanese scientist Masaru Emoto shows how the influence of our thoughts, words and feelings on molecules of water can positively impact the earth and our personal health.
This book has the potential to profoundly transform your world view. Using high-speed photography, Dr. Masaru Emoto discovered that crystals formed in frozen water reveal changes when specific, concentrated thoughts are directed toward them. He found that water from clear springs and water that has been exposed to loving words shows brilliant, complex, and colorful snowflake patterns. In contrast, polluted water, or water exposed to negative thoughts, forms incomplete, asymmetrical patterns with dull colors. The implications of this research create a new awareness of how we can positively impact the earth and our personal health.6 -

I have a woman at work who has been obsessed over my weight loss... mostly because she has a few pounds to lose and hasn't been able to do it and because I have lost 70lbs so she is constantly giving me unwanted advice on how to "lose weight". She is constantly making comments about me eating fruit... You know it is HIGH IN SUGARS... ya, natural sugars and I am not diabetic so... (insert eye roll here) She has also made comments about the amount of water I drink during the day and any time I eat Tuna Fish, because "you know what they say about eating too much tuna fish" I don't claim to know much about anything, all I do know is that I have been able to lose weight and more importantly, my most recent blood test, show that I am spot on with my nutrients and show no deficiencies sooooooo... (insert tongue biting here) LOL
If you're eating tuna several times a week, I see where she is coming from (although I don't approve of her methods.)
Due to mercury contamination, the EPA recommends limiting tuna to a serving a week. Standard blood work doesn't test mercury levels, and this wouldn't be considered a deficiency.

Count me as another person who hates the elliptical. I can walk 4 miles over rough terrain, but only last a few minutes on that torture device.5 -
RaeBeeBaby wrote: »At the risk of sounding like a woo-sayer, I don't DISbelieve the water crystal experiment. And yes, I know there have been scientists who have questioned the research due to lack of controls and for many other reasons, but that doesn't mean it's not true.
If you step back and really think about it, everything in the universe is matter and energy. Water is matter and is affected by energy or it wouldn't boil, melt or freeze. Isn't it conceivable that the positive energy from someone's thoughts could impact the matter/structure of a water molecule? I think so. It's kind of like when you walk in a room and it's a party and people are happy. That's good energy. Or if they're fighting, that's bad energy. Both are tangible feelings that can impact how YOU feel even if you're not involved in the action yet. So that energy has impacted your matter just by virtue of thoughts. Many people also believe that you can heal your body through both physical and mental energy. That's a pretty powerful mind we've got if we can heal ourselves with it.
Just saying that there's a lot in this universe that we don't understand, so I'm not one to woo-woo it. All being said, I don't bless my water before drinking it . . . . but maybe I should.
Ya, I don't diss people who say grace over food, and am not going to diss people who pray over water either.11 -
I usually don't talk to people about my fitness goals for this very reason.5

The most discouraging advice is "your bones are heavy as you have been fat since childhood. So forget about BMI. Just try to remain between 60 -65kg."

Wow, just wow! Never heard of the ice water before, but it's only hot drinks for me now! I cannot begin to describe how the sentence "jump start your metabolism" P***es me off. It's the blogs that use it, the instagramers, the youtubers - like SERIOUSLY? JUMPSTART? What, because it was off? Bloody idiots. And then they all cling to their cup of hot water with lemon while they shoot their videos of "What I Eat In A Day" which we all know is fake. I know, I know, maybe I shouldn't be watching such nonsense, but I'm working on it! /rantover7 -
People who insist your motabolism stops when your in bed or sitting down so you should be constantly moving around all day long or you wont burn off your food and youll gain a ton of weight
Dude if your motabolism has stopped then youll be in the morgue
If your gaining weight its because your eating too much15 -
