I do digitial art anyone else does? My hobby of many things I do. I take a picture that I have taken with my camera. Then make an Imagination theme like Victorian time . As I have here. Lots of fun and relaxation for me.4

I would like to join your group. Right now I am in process of a Rotar cuff but do exercies two which thereapist has given me and a needle to help the pain be less. I have been on the fitnesspal filling out my daily food eating. My dr has been discussing what I eat for me being 77. Long story but I am here.
It's never too late to get started on a new way of eating and being active. I've gotten lots of inspiration from reading what is written on this thread. I try out new ideas and read books that are recommended and my life has changed. There are several dancers in my line dance class who are over 80 years old and met each other in a support group started by Hospice. I hope you will keep coming back.

Terri: I am sorry that your boat motor conked out. Is in an outboard motor? If so, buying another to replace the old one makes good sense. :flowerforyou:
Sparkle: I love the landscape photo. The art is cheerful & fun.
I am meeting a friend at the stable to go riding today. The weather is iffy, but we can ride in the arena if it rains or go out in the countryside if it stays dry.

I'm invited to a 50th birthday party of a guy who used to organise a sort of unofficial research discussion seminar a few years ago. i've been invited a few times before to his bashes. they are very trendy and hip with lots of people. He's very kind and slightly a mover and shaker in his creative field, doing interesting creative research. I usually meet a few nice people, always run into a few I know from studies, and often, not always feel "less than"many of the people there - less trendy, less accomplished, less young (I think his longterm girlfriend - a beautiful dancer- is at least 10 years younger and so are al of her friends).
He's not rich but bought his home in a poor part of town decades ago at rock bottom prices and now he has this big place in the city which has become more gentrified.
I'm afraid I might do the same this evening, OR that I go and once again feel myself less trendy, less this less that. I don't feel that usually , but he tends to know quite successful people in his artsy field.
I'm gonna try to have a good and normal day after this high stress week.
I encourage you to attend with your head held high and a smile beaming from your lips, eyes and heart. Sure there are going to be folks who seem hipper, richer, superior. They are still just people. Feed your head with the positives of being included to celebrate your friend's milestone birthday, and expand your sensors to find the people with whom you can relate on some level. You be your best self, and you will not just survive the festivities, but possibly really have a good time. (((Hugs, and chin up!)))
Margaret: I hope you find the right Reiki master. I can't begin to tell l you how much it has helped me.
JanetR: So sorry Mother Nature has been harsh to Oklahoma. The videos on the news are horrifying. Sending up prayers for a quick and safe recovery.
My Ancestry.com DNA experiment has opened a Pandora's box of information on the side of my paternal grandmother's family. A seventh cousin in the Netherlands has written an extensive family history, and published it in a book, but it is out of print. Now he is working on a second volume, and I will spend part of my day working on a questionnaire he has invited me to complete.
Take care friends.

Yesterday I ordered groceries and told caregiver that was all the help we could give, due to the tax bill, did the rest except the phone call.
Today I will take Tumble to dog group, chip away at the laundry mountain, prep veggies and start the amended tax returns.
It took an hour with TurboTax tech support to download and access all the 2017 detail I needed to find where I made my error. While inputting 1099 information, I mistakenly Xd the “Taxable amount not determined” box. Under reported income affected taxable social security, medical deduction insufficient percentage of income, changed OR and ID income tax due and 2018 Fed and OR taxes since instead of a taxable refund we have to pay... and pay... and pay. Spent an hour holding and another hour listening to IRS tax advocate who was tremendously sympathetic and tried to guide me into the reasons considered acceptable for a waiver of penalty (records destroyed due fire or flood, or lost during a move) but alas none apply. I had the records, I made a mistake. Will review absolutely every possible deduction to try to reduce the liability and interest but am not hopeful. She did say we could make payments and the interest rate on remaining due is better than credit card interest (6%). I'll see if tax payment qualifies for rewards on my bank credit card and if the rewards exceed the 1.96% the processor would charge. Either way, I'm very thankful I've kept a small emergency IRA account. With the roof and dental work this year, I cannot justify taking on any more debt.
Lanette bank couldn't find the paperwork they sent to the IRS? SMH!!! I keep hearing more and more of the benefits of frankincense, glad it's helping your feet.
Vicki When was the last time you had 3 days off in a row? Hope they are restful, restorative and fun!
Janet safety first! It would be a terrible graduation gift for your beautiful grand if you and Jack were hurt trying to get there. "Losing weight should be like..." cracked me up too! Would that it were so!
Heather sprinkled fairy dust and every step an adventure, sounds like you are pretty mindfully present too!
Rita 3 wildfires and a campground evacuation already? Worrisome weather.
Michele not having cake. Brava!
Rebecca Athena Rose has a great guardian sister in Aurora. "maybe she'll laugh..." made me laugh too!
Julie you're right, I frequently invest too much time in responding when I should be up about and doing (or amending tax returns). Only comment when you can't not. Don't do as I do... Rry to remember Eleanor Roosevelt's advice about feeling "less than..." and rescind the permission.
Machka forgive my bicycle ignorance but what is a fixed gear and why was he able to ride now for the first time?
KJ "wishing flowers" we used to call the ones that floated still attached in globes "fairies".
Heather, ditto Machka's "Why?"
@Machka9 another tip I didn't know, many thanks!
@Femfleur and @sparkle43 welcome to a great group of compassionate, wise gals. Alas, "Woo" is not a positive "Woo Hoo" but a head shaking, cynical "this is way out there, too good to be true, woo woo".
Welcome back @patchworkperson / Geri from UK. Has it really already been a year? You can do this, one day, one baby step at a time, and surgery can be a powerful motivator.
Margaret encouraging news of your DS at last. Waiting to hear from him must have been dreadful. Healing singing, yes!
Beth sounds like your husband grows in wisdom with yard work 15# kettleball? You go gal!
Terri brava for daily elbow physio and working steps back from rotten fall. What is GoTs? Wikipedia lists organic textile standards, off the shelf government software and a heavy metal band, but ...
Rori, ditto what you said to Julie. Intriguing hints about your family's history... ;}
Well, there goes the morning. Time to prep Tumble for dog group and no time to start amending the tax returns. Oops! ;}

Julie I don't know if you do this, but I tend to compare my shortcomings to other people's strengths (trendy, accomplished, young...) And those trendy, accomplished, young people you find a bit intimidating...well, they may feel a bit unsure of themselves around people who have interesting and varied backgrounds, depth of experience, and maturity. You bring with you a rich tapestry that is no less valuable than the shiny newness of those trendy young folks.

Sparkle ... lovely artwork!
Barbara ... I’m so sorry you have tax woes. I use TurboTax as well but will be seeking an accountant when DH retires ... too many new things then that I need to understand.
Julie ... I spent a good part of my life feeling inferior to others. One day I just let it go. I’ll be thinking good thoughts that you are able to enjoy yourself.

Today is roast beef day! I cut the roast in half, browned it and baked it with baby carrots and potatoes and an onion. I put it on 350' for an hour, and burned it a little bit! The change in a different oven. This oven is a bit bigger because I can put both corningware on the same rack.👍
The roasts both read just well, and I will let everything rest, and it will finish off the carrots and potatoes. I think mostly the beef aujus gravy I put in, splattered and burned. It should all be fine.👍

No picnic today because of the rain. It seems to rain here on Memorial Day Weekend every year even when it has been dry and warm before and after. Jake fixed us a nice lunch using the cole slaw I'd made to take to the picnic. The picnic will be rescheduled for next weekend so I'll make more coleslaw for that.
I don't often have a rest day so today I've tried to stay seated a bit more and finish some bookkeeping and scanning tasks that I keep putting off. I'll have to work a bit to get to 10,000 steps. Walking back and forth in the house may be my solution. I don't usually mind walking in the rain, but today seems especially icky.
Now that I'm not working or going to school, my objection to holiday weekends is that I have to be mindful that the banks, post office, and library are closed and that I might not be able to do the business I normally do. When I was working, I loved the extra day off. However, when I was teaching, too many students went camping or the beach over Memorial Day Weekend and came back to school feeling like it was already summer in spite of all the class work we still had to complete.

Barbara: Thanks. I managed my reduced step goal today. Didn't make it yesterday, though. Game of Thrones is a Fantasy TV series. Lol! It's filmed in studios in Belfast, and there are many local locations. It's given a great boost to tourism in Northern Ireland.
Katla: It's the main motor although it is stern mounted. We have a small emergency outboard, but I wouldn't use it for normal cruising. Our boat is a small cabin cruiser.
@sparkle43 I love your imagination interpretation of your photo.

Oh it was heaven! I ate the bits of onion from each corner, and maybe 4 oz of roast, 7 baby carrots and about 5 baby potatoes. I will most likely be chewing on a couple of Tums because of the onion, but oh well!

Machka - Beautiful pictures.
Rori - I love going down the rabbit hole into genealogy. I need to get back into it some, maybe after the wedding this year.
Rebecca - That looks delicious. Roast beef is my absolute favourite meal.
Wow, I didn't get a chance to read and catch up for a bit and had over 50 posts to read. I can't get caught up on responding to everyone for sure.
Today is day 3 of spending time with Michaela. Thursday I watched her while her Mother picked up an extra shift at work. Yesterday Lauryn and Michaela picked me up in the morning and we shopped for most of the day. They bought me two new shirts and a pair of capris for Mother's Day. She wanted to buy me books, but I told her clothes were what I needed more. Today I have both kids while Lauryn is at work and tomorrow we have Michaela while Jonah is taken to a football game with his Father and Lauryn is at work again. I will be ready for a quiet day on Monday. I have a lot of crafting to get caught up on before the bachelorette party next weekend.
I stained the bathroom door today, but it's not turning out as I was hoping. I may end up painting it.
I have a frozen lasagna in the oven for supper which is late because we are waiting for Lauryn to get here to eat with us tonight.

I try to do this once each week if possible.Machka- It is beyond me how any one could find fault with how you and your DH are progressing post injury!! Every time you post a new thing your hubby is doing, I am just astounded and thrilled with how things are progressing! Really! IF I remember correctly, the doctor's weren't too confident in his ability to gain much independence post injury. I love that you are encouraging him to get back to the things he loves. IMO, THAT is where he will find his independence! Doing what he loves. Hugs to both of you! Back in the "saddle"!
That's right. There were several weeks where we thought he might end up in a permanent care facility. I had actually started looking into options. Thankfully he proved us wrong! My weight is back down to where it was the day of my knee replacement on Feb. 5, 183.5, which makes me very happy. The iron isn't gumming up my system too badly, and the Crohns-type symptoms have completely disappeared after the week of antibiotics, so I'm grateful for my health today, as the respiratory thing that started three days after the antibiotics is also almost cleared up.
Congrats on the weight loss and glad to hear that your health is improving!

Margaret, I feel the same way about my husband's fatigue. Fatigue is a huge issue with people recovering from brain injury and it's so much more than just the tired we feel at the end of the day. When he shuts down, he shuts down and it is a lot like a diabetic crash. He has trouble thinking, talking, walking, anything. The experts in brain injury recognise this and have a collection of suggestions to help, most of which we've adopted and when we follow the suggestions, things cruise along fairly well.
But the RTW people just keep telling me that "he'll get over it" and "everyone feels tired". They refuse to acknowledge it.TerriRichardson112 wrote: »Well folks, second try to post. I have had a bit of a stressful time. Three weeks ago, my left knee problem recurred, then, a couple of days later, I I got a cruddy sinus/throat virus. On 10/05 we went on our holiday to Croatia, but neither of us was really fit enough to do the scheduled walks. Despite this, we pockled about at our own pace and managed to have a lovely time. However, moving hotels twice during the week was not a good idea. Then on Wednesday last week, I tripped on a step, landied on my already crook knee, and staved my right wrist and elbow. (They do say things happen in 3s! Lol!) Each if these on its own would have been a minor inconvenience, but one by one, they reduced me to a frustrated helpless baby who could barely walk or feed herself.
However, I may have been down, but I am not out.- Knee pain has subsided and I can now walk fairly normally and, although daily steps are reduced, I am working them back up
- Cruddy virus is almost gone
- Doing physio on my elbow is gradually restoring its previous mobility although it has gone through several lurid bruise stages.
So sorry to hear that your holiday did not turn out as planned ... but glad to hear that you're recovering.Machka: I love the photos. Are you sure it is winter there? Beautiful!!! :flowerforyou:

Machka forgive my bicycle ignorance but what is a fixed gear and why was he able to ride now for the first time?
A fixed gear is a direct drive bicycle like a spin bike (not like a stationary bike, but like a proper spin bike) ... only, a fixed gear is ridden outside. There is only one gear and you can't coast. Some people really like them because they offer more control ... I would kind of like to try one but in all the years I've known about them, I haven't worked up the courage.

Did Biggest Loser Boot Camp DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do Leslie Sansone’s 5 Day Walk DVD.
Well, it’s official. I gained 5.5lb while at Denise’s.
Allie – Vince takes Uloric for his gout. When he first got the gout, he wished someone would cut off his toe, the pain was so intense. My heart goes out to you
Welcome everyone new! You’re welcome any time during the month
Made more chocolate bran muffins. It’s nice out so you know where I’ll be later. Oh DeeDee (where has she been?) always used to get on my case about sunscreen. Well, one tube down (another one ready)
I’m afraid I’m getting trigger finger in my right thumb again. I seem to have lost some strength in it and I THOUGHT it was “clicking” while I was in the pool. Guess we shall see about the trigger finger.
Started working on Pete’s Diamond Dotz. Everything I’ve read says that you should work one area at a time. I find working one color at a time to be easier. Guess I’ll go do more. Church tonight
I was asked to usher at church.
M – you are amazing.

Hi Gals,
Bananas – I hope you felt up to going to the party… pushing outside my comfort zone always help me feel like if I can do this I can do the next thing that is outside my comfort zone.
Janetr – love the poster!
Terri – Wow, glad to hear you are healing.
Margaret – I am so glad to hear your son will be able to go home.
Today ended up being a restful day, I worked this morning but for just an hour and then went to a lunch time BBQ and just sat around and chatted with folks I knew and others – it was a reunion of folks who have all worked at the camp that I garden at, it is undergoing a change of ownership so this was a good bye to the last chapter party. I’ll be continuing with the new ownership as will many; but it is a transition which can be sad. I didn’t get home till after 5… I thought it would be 11:30-2 but it was so nice. I just stayed and stayed.

Tornadoes tonight all around the City. One about 30 miles west of us took out a motel and and mobile home park, there are fatalities but they don't know how many yet. Thats so sad. O e guy said he was laying on the bed and next thing he knew there was a car and motorcycle in his room. He had to crawl over the car to get out. A lot of damage around town but no direct hits. Lots of people without power. Yikes, don't like them so close. So very sad. Still raining pretty hard but tornadoes have moved off to the Northeast.
Love you my friends,

Today laundry mountain excavated; Tumble accepted a dog she doesn't like and only barked at the new dog; prepped a bowl of veggies for Joe; started amending the returns.
Lanette, thank you so much for your comments about the bank paperwork error and taxes, a distant memory bell tinkled...
Looks like the under reported income is exactly the amount of an old IRA my financial advisor found and ... I believe... rolled over into the IRA we have with her company. We sure didn't have it to spend! Hope that was the case and she can provide written proof of rollover. We'll have to wait 'til Tuesday to hear from her, but I'm feeling hopeful. Feel it's my reward for starting working on the amended filing instead of procrastinating
Tomorrow should be dry so after church and Freddie's I'll walk Tumble down toward the cistern looking for fresh tracks, work compost in around fruit trees, and otherwise play in the dirt.
Beth, I've always done our taxes (even back in the pre-TurboTax, pencil, paper and big pink eraser days) but the year before I retired we consulted a CPA. He gave us excellent advice both about when to claim social security, and what to do with the 401Ks. It's also REALLY important to make an appointment with Social Security several MONTHS before turning 65, not just for Social Security info but for Medicare. There are deadlines that can be very costly to miss.
Karen in VA what you said about "rich tapestry..." beautiful and spot on! TurboTax fairy oh yeah!
Allie I love your menu choices. You make keto sound appealing!
Terri Ah! GoTs=Game of Thrones! Y'all are tempting me to check out from library...
Rebecca roast beef yum!
Machka you and your husband's smiles say it all. I tremble remembering where he was a year ago. Only one gear and can't coast? :noway:
Barbie, love your 10,000 step day of rest
Michele glad to hear you're using your sunscreen. As someone who's had 4 skin cancers removed can tell you, it hurts!
Think I'll be able to sleep now

Janetr - that must be really scary and sad.
Machka - Your ride looks wonderful. I much prefer spring/autumn sunshine to summer heat. I tried one of those fixed gear bikes when I was in Denmark years ago. Very weird at first. Does his brake by cycling backwards?
I am not entirely sure why I hate bank holidays. I always have, even when I worked part time. It's like I hate really lovely weather. Some kind of MOMO I think. My father, when I was young, always refused to do anything on those holiday weekends because he said "Everyone else would be there". So we just stayed at home. So there's something of that in it.
We never do anything, or see anyone. I feel lonely. My usual tv routine is disrupted which takes out the markers of my day. I feel I should be doing something special and I'm not. I feel all my friends have something better to do and anyway all the trains are down (repairs) so you can't travel and the roads are jammed. I feel no one wants to see me anyway,. The family have flown off to Majorca with their relations and left me. Everyone is having a better time than me. I am a misery guts and no one would want to be with me anyway. My husband thinks I'm crackers to be so despondent. I want to go out instead of cook all the time. He doesn't understand me. I'm rubbish. I haven't even washed my hair. I hate myself.
There it is. That's why I hate bank holidays.
Today the weather is a bit dismal so I feel a bit better.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx6
