PIP ~ That does look better!2

Just finished up to the end of page 10. So much to comment on.
Allie - I hope you either learn and conquer the insurance and get a huge raise or that you find another job soon. It’s overwhelming learning new things but you may find you enjoy it when you get it straight in your head.
Pip - I am so sorry about Bullwinkle. Hugs to you and Kirby.
Beth - what a stressful time you have had, I hope things calm for you soon.
Margaret - I hope your son is home now and recovering well. I’ll keep reading and may find the answer.
Heather - I know how you feel about seeing yourself in the video. I felt beautiful and slim the day of the wedding and wanted to cry when I saw the videos and pictures. I decided I would remember how I felt and use the pictures as motivation to try harder.
I’ll keep reading and comment again shortly

Depends on what it is? 😂 Now, if it’s calories burned, it’s been an energetic day! 😂0 -
Pip and Kirby-I love the pictures and the love behind it.Because of where my shepherds are buried, they each have a statue and hostas.

Woohoo! Finally caught up! Rode the bike to work again today, my backside wasn't quite as grumpy, but is still not happy with me, not sure if I'm going to ride tomorrow or not.... I really should, I won't be able to next weekend, too many evening plans that start right after work and I won't ride home in the dark. I also wouldn't feel comfortable leaving the bike locked up somewhere outside. It would probably be fine, but..... since it's a loaner, I really don't want it stolen (even with a good lock that does happen - some real low-lifes in the neighborhood). I had to talk myself into it today, and did some talking to myself yesterday too! And it was a good ride! The first time I did it, it took me an hour, the second time a little less, today was only 50 min! I did have some good luck with some traffic lights tho and not so much traffic this morning so the pedestrian controlled lights turned sooner. And yes, I do walk the bike across the road when I'm using a crosswalk! I figure I have to, I am perfectly willing to grouch about folks who ride on the crosswalks, so really don't want to be one of them.
Son, daughter in law and grandkids over for dinner last night. Granddaughter fussy, it was immunization day, but I did get to cuddle her quite a bit. Was sitting in hubby's rocker recliner, she just settled down so nicely and was pretty much asleep when they decided they had to leave, baby was not happy and let everyone know it! In their defense, son has bad cold and they were already talking about leaving. My grandson doesn't always like to give hugs and I don't want to force him to, so I've come up with a few things that work (can gramma give you a hug? how about a high-five/fistbump), well, last night I knelt down and he just came right to me, arms outstretched, it brought a tear to my eye! A very enjoyable evening. Hubby did take a couple of photos of me with our granddaughter, I will have to post, she is just so precious!
Tracy, the wedding photos are lovely!
I got quite a chuckle out of all the spelling stories and I have one too. I was out of work for a few years and sending out resumes to anything that looked even remotely interesting. Sent one out that I thought would be an awesome job, re-read the cover letter AFTER I emailed the whole thing, I had messed up the postal code (US equivalent is zip code, but ours have letters and numbers). Needless to say I did not get that job. sigh. It did make me pay more attention to what I was doing!
Anyway, at work and it's calling!
Hoping everyone has a great day!

Finally caught up! With limited time before I left for vacation the first week in July, no real computer time while in Phoenix (grandkids and kids took up my time!) and getting back in the swing of things this week (and over jet lag), it took quite awhile to catch up on so many pages. I must say, this is an active group. Too much to comment on. Sorry for those who have suffered losses (whether human or pet), those are tough times for all of us. I also found the spelling discussion very amusing. We have all made those mistakes and spellcheck may at times be more a curse than a help (I think a lot of our current tools tend to make us lazier in certain ways, but I still use most of them!). I do agree for professional items it is still critical. I do not expect all job applicants to write at my level, but I do like a basic level of competency and I find it hard to believe an applicant is "Excellent at attention to detail" when they don't catch typos!
Co-worker who was so ill is now in rehab center. Have no idea when he may be able to work, but it is good to see him moving around slowly and looking so much better. We were all concerned we were going to lose him.
Had great vacation in Phoenix. Grandkids are wonderful, son and his wife just bought a new house. Helped them do some sorting and unpacking. Was good to see my two boys together.
The fourth anniversary of my husband's death came and went. While I know the date , and had talked to someone the day before about it, I woke up that morning in a great mood (first day back to work). Thought it was strange when step-son texted to see how I was doing. Still didn't click. Work colleague texted she was thinking of me. Still didn't click. After a meeting later in the morning, colleague asked if I was doing ok since she knows how tough anniversaries can be. Finally clicked. She looked at me and said "Don't you dare feel guilty that you were not consumed with that this year!" (Last year I was sobbing in the shower at 5 am on the date and called off work). I guess I am moving into another phase of grief. I did check on how the boys were doing and they were ok.
Hope to do a better job of keeping up--I do so appreciate the humor and wisdom I find in this group. Since I had a killer day with steps (over 20,000-goal for two days of 20,000 a month half way completed), and got a lot of other stuff done-you know, the boring but necessary household tasks--I'm going to read a few more threads and call it a night. Probably should eat a bit more to get my net over 1000. No way I can eat back all of the credited exercise calories, but I am trying to do this the way it was designed to work.
Take care everyone,

It does take a little while to adjust to the saddle if you haven't ridden in a while. If it still hurts after 2 or 3 weeks, then you might look at some other options to make it more comfortable which include ...
-- making sure the bicycle is set up correctly.
-- making sure the saddle is wide enough for you, but not too wide.
-- a good pair of cycling shorts that suits you.
-- improved core strength.
etc.
But well done on commuting by bicycle! I wish I could do that.
My commute would be about 17 km each way which wouldn't be a big problem except that it's up and over a decent hill each way as well which requires some effort. The road much of the way isn't bad. There's a decent shoulder on the highway most of the way, but shortly after you top the hill, the shoulder vanishes and you're right among all the commuter traffic.
Then, when I do finally get to work, my building doesn't provide good bicycle storage facilities. I would actually attempt the commute once in a while if I had somewhere to store my bicycle securely.
This is a picture I took from the top of the hill before descending into Hobart on a ride I did on a weekend to see how a commute might feel. My bus goes that way too, so I see that view 5 days a week.

This quote helped inspire me to do many of the things I've done since my early 30s. Twenty years after coming across this quote ... I'm not disappointed by things I didn't do. I've done most of what I wanted to do and I'm still going.

Sue - sorry for your loss.
Rori - Alzheimer’s and Dementia are miserable diseases. My Mother did beautiful embroidery work all of my life. You could hardly tell which side was the back side and which was the front it was so neat. Very early in her disease before even being diagnosed she lost that skill. It’s good that your husband wanted to join you in the pool.

Pip the plant is some kind of Lily. Tiger lilies often have those black nodes. I didn't see any flowers on them. Do you have deer. Deer love lilies.
Tracey thanks for asking about our son. He is home and he had us over for a barb-a-cue tonight. Son and I went to what is called the Dragon Festival in the park close to him. They race boats that have dragon heads on them. Boats are what a crew team would race in. Last night we planted rose bushes along his garage. It seems when we do one project another project pops up that needs to be done before the project is done.

I had a great day today. Vince and I cleaned the front porch.. which has not been cleaned in YEARS. We pressure washed the inside of the screen porch, cleaned the windows, cleaned out all the cobwebs (they stick to the brick like crazy), cleaned all our porch ornaments (they were thick with dirt and grime) and then pressure washed most of the front stairs - although they need to be re-done with soap of some kind - and then at some point re-stained. In any case, I could not have done all that work last summer. I had a couple times where I had to stop, sit down inside with the fan on me and a glass of water, but we worked for over 2 hours and it was awesome. Being able to do tasks/chores both inside and outside, with Vince, is one reason I've changed my life. He has been doing so much of it for so long. So it was great to work alongside him and keep up!
Hope you're all having a great weekend.
