I told my husband to hide the scale!
I am feeling so great and like I am on the right track so I told my hubby to hide the scale. I fear that if I step on and gain I will lose it and go back to the bad ways. One week of this and although I struggle to get all my calories...I feel stronger, more alert, sleeping great and liberated!! I CAN'T let the scale…

Tried cutting...
...and I think my body really likes maintenance calories. I'm HUNGRY! (I can't believe I every lived off of 1200 calories!!) Too bad I still need to lose 17 lbs. :grumble: Okay, so if I create a tinier deficit of say... 50 calories a day... I can be at my goal weight in 3.26 years. That's not so bad, right? :glasses:

Calorie confusion for a triathlete
Hi I'm so glad I found this group! So here's my question - I'm training for a middle distance triathlon (1.2mile swim, 50mile cycle, 13 mile run) in September and have some weight to shed before then (lighter = faster and not as wobbly in a trisuit!). I've been cutting my cals to approx 1500 a day (1200 net after ex) and…

Holding Steady....is this a good sign?
Hello All, I am new to the group and began the EMTWL journey one week ago. So far, I have held steady to my current weight with very little fluctuation (maybe .2 to .4 each time I weigh). Considering that when I was only consuming 1300 calories per day my weight kept fluctuating up and down a pound or two each week, I am…

should I 'reset'? how ?
Hi Firstly sorry if this is asked a million times and my questions are a little stupid, I am trying hard to understand and to change a very determined mind-set. I am a life long VLC / cycle of overstuffing eater. A lot of that was to do with my allergies, but I have a handle on it all now and have done for over a year. I…

how do you measure your tummy?
I'm having trouble getting a 'true' reading off my stomach. Too squishy, lumpy..:grumble: So I started pushing my stomach out as FAR as I can and measuring that once it's good and tight....I realize that gives a rather massive reading, but right now I'm mostly concerned with how much it drops or gains than what the actual…

On my home page where the "popular posts/threads" are listed, there is one about 'Snacks after donating Blood". It had that certain "train-wreck" quality that I just couldn't resist and HAD to check it out. Yep, on the Food and Nutrition board they are dissecting the quality, quantity, nutritional value of the snacks given…

K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple silly)
I think I'm probably on week 8 or so now, and I'm noticing a lot of the same questions come up about how to log exercise, how much to eat and whether to eat back exercise calories. In the beginning, I, and a lot of others are making it harder than it really is. I really appreciate all the stickies and info that Lucia &…

still learning....net calories..
I'm on my second week with a 4 pound weight gain. I'm hanging in there, but find myself second guessing everything I do. I have over 100 pounds to lose and have a visit with a heart DR. in 2 months and I'm ashamed that the weight loss just isn't happening. For 2 weeks I have had my MFP set at my BMR(1700) and I eat some of…

You know what's funny...
I am thinking through my Memorial Day weekend plans and not stressing AT ALL about food because my TDEE is like 2300 and eating 2000 a day is a difficult for me. So to know that I can just be human, watch and log what I do and eat along with a workout each morning ...no sweat!!!

I think most of us are ED recovery patients....
Ok, so I know that I personally have never been a typical anorexic, but over time I have discovered there are so many forms of eating disorders out there. I now personally believe that those of us who are having the worst trouble wrapping our minds around the concepts of Eating More and are seeing the slowest, most…

BMR question
Ok - I know not to eat under BMR - but my question is which value does everyone go by for their BMR. According to fat 2 fit, scooby, and fitness frog my BMR is around 1580 - but according to NROL4W - my BMR is closer to 1380 ish - so I've been losing steadily (not more than a lb but losing every single week) - so I decided…

If I'm still at a deficit why am I looking bigger?
So even though I'm eating a BUNCH more, and more than most of the ladies here, if I'm still at a 500 or more deficit, why do I look like I did 3 months ago..aka...FATTER. Everything looks bigger and puffier, and less lean. I haven't dared go on the scale. Why is this? What's the science? My fear is that I'll be one of the…

Do you net your BMR or cut value on work out days?
Hi there  I have noticed that some of you have stated that you net your cut value whether you work out or not and i was wondering how many of you prefer to do this rather than just net your BMR. This is workout days only. I net my cut value on non workout days and on workout days i feel like i could eat more than…

Having Trouble Hitting my Calorie Count
I'm finding that I'm having a hard time hitting my calorie count each day; I'm trending 150-250 calories under. I've been trying to eat more and feel like I'm eating all the time. Last night I couldn't even finish my dinner. Does anyone have any recommendations for higher calorie healthy foods? Maybe my snacks during the…

Hi Everybody. Still learning about EMTWL. I am not so overwhelmed thanks to all of your support. Yesterday thanks to feedback on my diary I am now learning about Sodium.
