NROLFW "as is" or heavy?
Hi Ladies, I just started NROLFW Stage 1 (next 3 WO B) . I keep reading about lifting heavy. The workouts in the first Stage range between 15-8 reps per set so not really heavy. While I never deadlifted or squatted on the rack, I did resistance training before (bodyweight and 30DS with heavy weights (6 reps) until they…

I need some help please
I need some help from all you high calorie experts. Firstly, my stats: 5”10 250lb Activity level: desk job, and walk 2 miles, 5 days a week, so 40 mins a day light activity – sedentary? BF % - Unsure, too many calculators, been told anything from 25% - 53%, but I’m guessing it’s in the higher range I’ll try not to make…

My first break to TDEE
I have been eating between 1700-2000 calories per day pretty much since I started on my weight loss path, with my TDEE currently estimated between 2,100 - 2,400 per day for my 5'2" 51-year old, 150 pound self (between lightly and moderately active). My BMR is around 1,290-1,320 depending on the calculated source. For the…

not losing anymore ??
The first few weeks into this whole eat More to lose weight concept has been great. I managed to shed 0.3-0.5kg each week. But ever since I had a knee injury which stopped me from exercising for 2 weeks, I've been stalling? I tried to do a lot more cardio to melt off the fat, but now I'm concerned that I might be doing too…

We've heard it before - mini breakdown
I posted this on the EM2WL website, but I'm so afraid that no one will see it to help me out (or give me encouragement). Without really knowing where to post this for someone to reply, I decided this was the safest place because there has to be SOMEONE who has been where I am. I am sure you've ALL heard this same rant, but…

New here!
Hello all! A MFP friend referred me to this group and to the eatmore2weighless web site. I was pleasantly surprised to see EM2WL uses 40/30/30. I say this because I just started weight management at work (Johns Hopkins Medical) and we're having a "Biggest Loser" contest and they're using 40/30/30 as well... when I first…

TDEE calories
May I just say, eating at TDEE is a TON of food. That's all.

Body Composition problems
So, here is some background info: I have been gradually upping my calories from 1200 to 1700. I have been at 1700 for a few weeks and so far I'm pretty happy. I haven't gained any weight, and haven't lost any either. I am currently 156 pounds and 28% bodyfat, with a GW of 148-150 pounds. I am set up to lose .3 pounds a…

Newbie with Questions!
I just increased my calories today and want to make sure I'm doing this correctly. Before you ask if I checked out the other postings and/or stickys...the answer is yes. Here is what I calculated today... As of 12/16/12 TDEE = 1790 BMR = 1491 Cut Value = 1521 which is 1790 - 15% = 1521 (eat 1521 calories daily & don't eat…

Non-workout days
I've browsed several pages but didn't get an answer to this question. My TDEE with 20% cut is 1770. I know that if I burn more than the difference between my TDEE and BMR then I should track those and eat them but what about on non-workout days? I plan to run 1 mile and lift heavy MWF and run on Tues, Thurs and Sat and…

Brisk walk count as exercise?
I'm taking a break from running due to back problems, and I love walking, I walk 4-5 hours a week regardless, but I'm wondering does a brisk walk count towards my workout hours or do I still need to do more?

Protein Powder
Hi guys! I have discovered that my protein powder is giving my really awful gas. Is this a problem for anyone else? What protein powder do you use? I don't think I have a sensitivity to dairy or anything like that, maybe its just the brand?? Need a new brand asap, have a hard time meeting my protein goal without a shake or…

Eating excessive amounts of protein will NOT build muscle
My DH sometimes forwards me these "healthy tip of the day" emails provided from our work. Here is today’s.... Welcome to the Tip of the Day! *** Today's Tip: PROTEIN NEEDS FOR ATHLETES The average diet contains enough protein for recreational or even competitive athletes. Eating excessive amounts of protein or amino acids…

Break Weeks?
I have heard it mentioned a couple of times that people will take break weeks but I'm a little unlcear about a couple of things: 1) When you take a "break" does that mean that you are breaking from eating at a deficit, and going back to eating at TDEE (like in reset but for a shorter length of time) 2) Does taking a…

Just Want to Make Sure I Understand...
A couple of days ago I saw a comment on another thread about resetting your metabolism because it gets 'broken' after being on a low calorie diet for too long. The person recommended the original poster to join the MFP Eat More 2 Weigh Less group. So I was curious and came here and started reading. I'm not sure that I have…

I do not have a sweet spot!
I'm going to post this everywhere until someone can help me turn on the light bulb living over my head. Last December I weighed 136 and had been steadily losing for the entire 18 months before that. Even months I didn't work out much, I always eat well and I continued to lose - albeit slowly. In the last 12 months I have…

Do I need a reset?
hi everyone. I am a 49 year old male housepainter. Started off at 150 kg and now down to just under 130k. Been keeping to 1500 cals for 12 weeks even though the app said for me to be on 2250 to start. OK I know now that was wrong...... Anyway weight loss has stalled even though I am still on 1500. I tried for a few days to…

TDEE Question with BMF results
I really believe in eating more, but I am not sure if I have figured out what my TDEE is. Here is what I know. I have worn my BMF 3 times since I have gotten it. I wore it each time for a week. My actual calories for those weeks were: 19,362 week 1, 18,829 week 2, and 18071 week 3. In week 1 I was doing more cardio. I…

5 month plateau for the SECOND time :(
I started at 212 lbs. Plateaued at the beginning of the year at 195 for about 5 months. Now, i'm 170 and plateaued again for the 5th month in a row. I have very strong legs, I am averaging 4 days a week working out, mostly 30-60 mins of cardio and at least 30 min of weight. I never do the same thing twice in the same week.…

Input/Help please :)
Ok I've been losing and on MFP for a year now. At first I didn't even count calories i just cut my portions. Then when I started counting I realized this 1200 BS wasn't for me and started EM2WL. I was eating around 1900 calories. Was doing a workout video 4 times a week an running about 15 miles a week. Beginning of Nov I…

Last 5 lbs and 2% bodyfat help please....:)
Hi All! I have been a lurker on this discussion board for a little while and love the positive energy that everyone has. I am looking to change my settings to a straight TDEE cut and and just aiming for the same calorie goal everyday. I am currently doing a Sedentary TDEE cut of 15% and then eating back any logged exercise…

WORRIED ABOUT THE WRONG STUFF!
Worried about trans fat or salt? That's a little old-school. If you want to stay current on dietary villains, you'll want to start thinking about sugar. Lots and lots of sugar — as in 77 grams, or nearly 20 teaspoons. That's how much added sugar the average American consumes every day, according to a 2011 scientific…

stalling...
So I'm down to the last 5kg (never had that much to lose anyway) should I continue to eat at 20% cut or? And also I have myself set as moderately active, I do about half an hour of cardio and 1 hour of pop Pilates 6 days a week (I'd like to think that it's a bit more intense than normal Pilates, you can look it up on…

Down to the last 10 pounds
should i be eating back exercise calories despite eating tdee - 15% ?

Really? Truly?
So I seem to have stalled out on the last 10lb - this is partly because I've been lifting and have something resembling, (admittedly it's a distant resemblance) muscles for the first time in my life. But it's been a while, and I'm a little tired of 1300 calories and eating back exercise calories, so I've been reading up on…

Alcohol
So I'm 2 days from being 1.5 years into my Doctor of PT degree! After passing finals, I know my classmates will want to go out throughout the week before everyone returns home for the holidays. So my question... If I know there is going to be drinking - how should I try to account for that this week? I've only been doing…
