How many calories?
I'm struggling to figure out how many calories I should be on. I've been on 1200 since Jan to get down to my goal weight. Which worked out very well. I never starved myself or felt ill. I'm 5 ft 4 and female. Recently been told it was too less and I should be on more (don't need to be told this now as I know now) but now I…

Close to goal
I need guidance please. I only have 8.5 lbs until goal. How does one maintain? I read add 50 calories a week and see how that works. Is that a good guideline? Thanks in advance for your time. Blessings.

Which scale is more accurate?
My doctor's fancy digital scale reading differs from the reading on the mechanical one that I have at home with the easy-to-read dial. I'm wearing the same clothes for both but the results are totally different. My doctor's digital scale says that I gained 1 lb. in three weeks but my bathroom one says I've lost 4 lbs. I…

Ode to Logging!
Logging is good Logging is smart Then again - it sucks a lot. Is it logging I hate, Or is it having to limit what I eat That drives me ape? I love not being fat anymore I can do so much more But it’s so very tough To keep it all off. Many people don’t need to log And maybe someday I’ll be free, In the meantime I’ll do my…

Stop gaining weight
Hi everyone. I haven't logged in a while. I've been successfully maintaining my weight at around 115 lbs at 5'3.5'' for about 1 and half years now. However, recently I have been gaining weight. I got really sick 3 months ago and was intubated in the ICU. I was kept NPO (no food) for 3 days and then on day 4-day 7 they…

Has anyone lost more weight without trying after reaching your goal

However I have since lost more weight since I can feel it in my clothes and the scale is now reading 115 lbs.Allot people told…

So far the best way of maintaining your weight loss is to log. But my family and friends constantly go out. For those who say "they eat what they want and still maintain" does this include going out eating and drinking socially?

Anxious about increasing calories after reaching goal weight
Hi all, I'm rapidly closing in on my goal weight, but am starting to get very anxious about the prospect of increasing my calories once that weight is reached, for fear of just gaining the weight back. Do you all typically ease yourself up to a maintenance level or just plunge into it, and more importantly can someone just…

TDEE & My fitness pal explain?

Mentally preparing yourself to maintain
I'm having a hard time believing it's ok for me to maintain at my current size. A month or so ago, I decided I wanted to and would move into it (not hard because I've always been someone who had maintenance days on a regular basis). I love to eat so finding the calories isn't the hard part. I'm having trouble not thinking…

24 hour fasts almost everyday. Bad idea?
I eat almost all my calories in the morning (1500-1600) and don't eat anything until the next morning. I get tired earlier than usual eating like this, but it has been working for me otherwise. I've been eating like this on and off for 2 months. Will this have any long term negative effects?

Be careful with MFP calorie estimates - don't work for everyone
My goal is to maintain my weight. If I eat according to MFP, I gain weight. If I eat according to My Tracks, I maintain. MFP or MapMyRide consistently estimate my calories burned during a bike ride by 200% to 350%. For example, I rode 41 minutes today, 16-20 mph, and MFP imported from MapMyRide that I burned 632 calories;…

Not gaining once reached goal
I reached my goal weight and then surpassed it. I decided that that weight was unhealthy and I try to stick within a 5lb range. I uped my calories from 1200 to 1500 and ever since then I cannot stop eating!!!! It's crazy. I was hard and fast on my 1200 calories for over 4 months. The last 1.5 months have been such a…

Do you ALWAYS track?
I have been maintaining for about a month now. I have a birthday coming up, and I thought about just eating what I want that day and not tracking. I don't plan to go on a crazy binge but I'm sure I'll exceed my calories. I think if I track, knowing how much I go over will drive me crazy and take away from enjoying my…

All day trackers - discrepancy
Hi, due to technical issues (with the app) I had to switch from my Withings Pulse tracker to the iPhone but since doing this my daily calories are skewed from what I am used to and not sure what to do as I was happy with what I was doing before. I'm not sure what is going on - can someone help explain? I have been…

Fearful to eat excercise calories.
Hi there, MFP gives me 1800cals to maintain my weight. I've been eating between 1700-1800 cals daily. However I'd like a bit of flexability in this and will eventually try and eat back some (around 50%) of my excercise cals. the main worry is that I feel as if I have just been maintaing on this for aorund a month or two…

TDEE Calculations. Lifting and zero cardio
I know they are just estimates and it takes some data tracking and what not to really figure out your maintenance calories. I was just curious what other lifters who do little to zero cardio input into TDEE calculators, or hearing a little bit about the process of figuring out your real maintenance calories. I'm hesitant…

Daily or Weekly Calorie Intake?
Which should I focus on? Some people have told me that as long as I eat my weekly total of maintenance calories a week, I'll be able to stay at the same weight while others have told me to eat my maintenance calories every day to maintain the same weight. My maintenance calories are 1400 per day, which means 9800 calories…

5ft4 ladies...how do you maintain?
Hey all! This seems like a friend group so just wanted to throw my question out there... I've been losing weight on 1500 but recently got over excited and tried 1200. Massively regretted it as it's just too extreme for me. So I went back to eating 1500...it's only been a day and I've gained a pound and a bit!! Forgive me,…

Increase straight to 2000?
hi everyone, I've been slowly loosing (with minor fluctuations) on around 1400-1500. I need to gain 5lbs and was thinking of increasing straight to 2000... Because I'm horrible with sticking to "slow increases" and usually "chicken out". However, I've heard some people gain like 5-10lb at once in a week from Increasing. Am…
