Deciding on a goal weight
How did everyone decide on a goal weight ? I know a lot just go by the BMI charts but wondered the reasons if anyone else chose differently. I already weigh less than I did when I graduated high school and about 17 pounds away from the goal I set for myself. I don't think its too drastic but people that have known me my…

Protein Shakes Newbie
Hi Looking for a bit of guidance as I am a little clueless.. At the point where I want to stop losing weight but become more lean and reduce BF percentage. Diet wise I am pretty good, the occasional chocolate/booze session here and there (we are only human) but overall I am quite good, eat a lot of protein, salads, veggies…

Keto diet?
Anyone else trying this? Any success/horror stories? I just began a few weeks ago after a 5 day water fast. So far so good but I'm wondering is it safe long term for weight maintenance or should just be a short term weight loss diet plan?

Scared to lose progress
I'm happy with my weight of 103.2 at 5ft 3 and definitely don't want to lose any more. I'm afraid if I up my calories from 1200 to what I'll need to maintain, I'll start overeating. It's like I don't trust myself not to overeat if I allow myself more food. Is this a normal fear?

44yr old crossfit
Reading the threads just wondering what sort of age groups you are all at. I'm pretty good at logging and maintaining macros whilst eating mostly clean but gaining muscle is a battle. I'm at 15% bf and 87kg looking to get to around 85kg but not lose any of the lean muscle I have. Macros are set at 40/30/30 C/P/F. I train…

Maintaining & Recomp with Thyroid Issues
I hope this is ok on this board, as its kind of a two part question. I was recently diagnosed with Graves Disease. I'm relatively asymptomatic... some heart palpitations, eye pain, and neck pain, but not really anything else. Not even loosing weight unexpectedly which is a Graves hallmark. Anyway, my white cell count is…

Huge difference between calorie targets
So I was changing my goals on MFP and found that if I changed from a weight loss caloric intake to a maintenance caloric intake there was a huge difference. Like 800 to 900 calories a day. Has anyone else found this when changing goals?

Books/articles on recomping?
I posted a similar thread in gaining weight, but it seems this may be a better place for it. After years of losing weight (meanwhile having and feeding babies), I'm ready to be done with weight loss. Are there any books or other references you would recommend for someone looking to recomp what they have? I'm not in a huge…

Maintaining at 120-125 pounds anyone?
What does this look like for you? How many calories a day is this? What is a typical breakfast/lunch/dinner? If anyone has an open diary maintaining at 120-125 I'd love to take a look. I still have not reached maintenance but I am so looking forward to it. Just incase its relevant I am 5'4. Goal 120-125ish. 33 yrs old. 4…

Maintain, but lose belly fat? Is there a way?
Hello, so I'm 21 and I've always done sports and gym so yeah I'm in shape, but for as long as I can remember I've never been able to get abs. Last week I decided to fully commit to getting them and I started to do some reading, and to make a long story short I decided to get into a high caloric deficit (if you put your…

Might be having surgery in the next month or so-- any ideas on how to maintain/keep fit as I recover
I am really, really hoping to be a living liver donor, possibly in the next month or so. So far the testing has gone really well. The woman who needs the liver is a young mom. So I really hope this works (that my liver is compatible). The thing is, I only have one worry-- that I will gain my weight back after surgery. As…

Daily weight variation
Hi, folks. I'm within days of being able to switch from weight loss to weight maintenance (yay!) and have a question. My sense is that my plan will be something like this: 1) eat the appropriate number of calories to maintain my goal weight 2) weigh myself regularly (daily?) 3) if my weight goes too high or too low, adjust…

Running=Happy, Fit=Happy
Even just a couple of miles of light (11min/mi)running aday keeps me much happier and fit. I need to get my motivation up to start light weights again after being laid up with an injury for a while.

Keeping fit for life
I used to have 85 or so more pounds on my frame. But at 6'3 it was "but you're tall though". Quitting drinking is the biggest part of breaking my weight problems. Pair that with being a runner and I stay fairly slender now.

3500 to gain a pound
I understand the concept of eating 3500 calories over causes 1pound weight gain ... but is that 3500 over your maintenance calories or 3500 calories over my deficit calories ? I.e. My Deficit is 1300 but my maintenance is 1600 calories ???

I'm so hungry!
This is just a vent thread... I'm starving!! I'm still doing Strong Curves (plus nursing), and I'm so so hungry. I literally think I could eat 3000 calories a day. Yesterday I had 2000 and this morning I feel like I haven't eaten in a week. Bret says in Strong Curves that you will feel more hungry, but to fight the urge to…

Will eating over maintenance once a week cause weight gain?
I'm 5'4, 115 pounds and I'd consider myself sedentary. I eat 1500 calories per day, but I work out 3-4x a week and average 10 000 steps on my rest days. If I eat 2000 calories once a week, would this lead to weight gain?

Ladies: Junel Birth Control Experiences
I have some questions about the JUNEL Birth Control pill ( I have the 1.5/3.0 for 21 days). I'm worried about the side effects. I would like to know what others are feeling and the way they have changed as a result of taking this pill, such as bloating/retaining water, gaining a lot of extra weight? I can deal with +1-5…

Am we sometimes too hard on ourselves about weight?
I will be on maintenance for 3 years in October ... it has been relatively easy for me and I usually stay within the range that I set for myself. However, lately I notice that if I go above the weight that I have chosen to maintain, even if it's still within that range, I immediately eat at a deficit to get myself back…
