Long time maintainers - when did your brain catch up?
Hi all, I'm currently about 10lbs from goal, which will put me down 90lbs total on a 5'4.5" small frame. I'm happy with my success but I still feel huge (likely as a result of being obese since childhood). My question for all of you who have been maintaining for a while is how long did it take your brain and self…

Help with recomp and weight gain
I'm hoping for some help and feedback with my recomp/maintenance. I'm 5'3, lost 40 lbs on WW after my 2nd baby, which took 14 months to lose. My last weigh in on WW was 132.6, which I stopped in early june. I'm still nursing my 18 month old 4x a day. I've increased my strength training a lot, increased the weight... went…

can alcohol make me gain 4 pounds?
i'm not much of a drinker but this week I've been having 1-2 shots of vodka every night. the calorie content of vodka can't be why I've gained 4 pounds because my daily total calorie has not changed. usually I would be sure the 4 pounds are due to water weight from the alcohol but I know I've been pretty dehydrated already…

My previous weight
Is my starting weight suppose to disappear every Sunday? The reason is when I start MFP I logged in at 178 and now I'm 170. However when I go to log in each day it shows my starting weight as my current weight. It does not show a weight loss of -8lbs.

Day after carb binge while doing a recomp...
I'm new to the whole recomp thing, so I'm looking for some guidance. I did WW and lost 40 lbs after my 2nd baby, and now trying to build strength and muscle. Last night I did some emotional carb binging, and I'm wondering what to do today... do I alter my macros to make up for it? Do I pretend like it didn't happen and do…

Could I have some advice on recomping, please?
Just a heads up that I'm completely new to the whole idea of recomping, so you may have to explain things like I'm five! My issue is thus: my upper body feels too skinny (I'm quite boney, especially in the chest area, and have been advised by my doctor to gain weight, which is fine by me). However, I carry most of my fat…

Strong Curves?
I have seen Strong Curves frequently pop up as a recommendation for women who want to "tone". Had a look at it out of curiosity, but as far as I can see without buying the book it is mostly about working your glutes. I thought you need a reasonable full body program and that women should just lift the same way men do (as…

How much weight can you gain in one week?
so whats the realistic amount of actual weight you can gain in one week from over eating? I'm usually very precise in my calorie counting and never go over maintenance but this week I've not been as careful with tracking. I've also had about 2 shots of vodka every nigh this week, which is not the norm for me at all (I…

Reached goal weight - thinking about getting a Fitbit to help with maintenance
Hi there. I'm 33 years old female. I'm 162cm tall and had a few vanity kg to lose. I've just reached my goal weight of 52kg (down from 57kg). As I didn't have much to lose I set the rate to 0.2kg per week, looking back I lost ~0.5kg a week. I'm fairly active so I do get a lot of exercise calories which I have eaten back.…

What now?
I have been maintaining within 5 lbs for two months. When I reached my goal, I added 150 calories per day as first adjustment toward maintenance (1350 calories/day). My weight immediately started going up. I cut back to 1300 calories and have been there for several weeks. I am lightly active - biking when possible, at the…

This is what worries me about maintainance...
On Saturday I posted about how I had finally met my target of 12 stone, by cutting to 1660kcal p/d and not eating back exercise calories. I'm now starting the road towards maintainance and plan to gradullay increase my intake. Sunday morning I was bang on 12 stone, I consumed 1800kcal (+140 on old target) but also went…

Workout motivation
Since Feb. 2015 I have lost 105lbs. When I first began I was highly motivated with my exercise program, even going to the gym after a 12 hour work day. Now that I have reache, and surpassed, my original goals, I sometimes find it hard to stay motivated with the exercise. I have not and will not slip back in to bad eating…

Back surgery/maintaining not easy
I have been maintaining my 30 pd weight loss for over a year. I had back surgery 5 weeks ago and have gained 5 pds. I can't exercise for a few more weeks, my daily intake is 1200 (mfp calculated). Should I lower my calorie intake to help me to start losing?

Where did my butt go , lol
Okay, I lost about 30 pounds since Feb first. I am pleased with the overall results and feel much more healthy and fit. Problem is. I lost my butt. I used to have a real nice fleshy butt, not a-bubble butt per se, but just a feminine rear end. It is pretty much non existent now. I still have cheeks but it has become flat.…

Now What?
In March I was 215lbs and a waist 38". I am now down to 168lbs and a 32/34" waist. 47lbs later I'm now at goal and thinking, now what? I've reached my target through reducing my calories to 1660 and sticking to the religiously, aside from maybe 1 cheat weekend a month which has actually been a great help. I run with a club…

How do y'll keep the exercise FUN?

I am struggling with creating a exercise plan, I have always hated exercise and I still do, 1 min of exercise seems to take just as long as 8 hours of work. Okay maybe that's a little overdone hahaha but I just don't enjoy it. Now I could lower my calorie levels what I don't…

What do you wish you had known (going into maintenance)?
Like a crazy silent stalker, I haunt this board the most - as this is where I apparently trip up. I have lost big in the past, 130 pounds, and I have always maintained at least 80 pounds to the good. BUT. I want to maintain at 120 or 130 to the good... => So I read this forum the most and have been absorbing. My question…

For those that struggled with the last 10 lbs
I've seen lots of talk about how hard it was (and how long it took) to lose the last 10 lbs. I have been wondering about this, is it physically harder to keep the deficit going since you are at a "normal" weight, or does the mental dedication wane? Or is it something else? I'm curious to hear your thoughts and personal…
