Confession...I eat under 800 calories a day usually to lose weight. :hushed:

Not judging but please get some help.

I confess I've contemplated booking a night at a hotel in a quiet place so I could actually get a good night sleep. I haven't slept well in weeks. My husband snores, is on a loud breathing machine, and has restless leg syndrome and kicks all night. I just can't take it anymore. Every time I end up waking up in the middle of the night (because of his kicks, or I have to pee, or the cat meows or something), I have to go downstairs in the recliner to be able to sleep again, and even then I'm so annoyed that it takes me an hour or more. And it's not exactly comfy.

So I fell asleep at 11pm, woke up at 3.30am, finally fell asleep around 5am and the kids woke me up at 5.30am (WTF kids). I was hungry so I had breakfast early, and my day is probably screwed again because tired + hungry early = bad news.

I confess I'm starting to get really worried about our trip this Summer because I won't have anywhere else to sleep then.

Do it! Go to bed early, wake up late, have breakfast made for you. You will feel so much better. Your husband and the kids will get over it, its just one night. enjoy it

but I've never had a ketchup chip so ...

Confession: I am p-ssed about a 1.2lb gain after a WHOOSH the other morning. I know it's not 'fat fat' but it still irritates me. I will probably not make my goal by Saturday.

YES. I bought 5 lines on the lottery on my birthday which was on the 5th May. So it was 5 5 5, but I'm too scared to check it, because I know I haven't won anything, I never do, but what if I have?? It's like Schrodinger's Cat in my head right now. lol

I'm basically anti lottery and never buy tickets EXCEPT when my co-workers do a group buy when it gets huge, because I am sure I won't win (sensible) and yet also sure that if they ever bought without me they'd win and I'd be the only person left working and not insanely rich. So basically I only buy to jinx my co-workers.

Lol same boat. I was 2 pounds down yesterday... back 2 pounds today. Might be because I ate a bit more yesterday, didn't sleep well, and weighed earlier, but still.

Same issue here my husband mumbles in his sleep and tosses a lo and I'm a light sleeper so it's a nightmare. So it might be bad but we watch tv and "stuff" together and then just for the sleep part we sleep in separate rooms. But we spend a lot of close time before so it's literally just for sleeping . Can you tell I'm defensive because I know people think it's horrible but sleep is important! How long is your trip? Just bring some melatonin or something to make you tired and just use it every now and then so you get some sleep during the trip.

On the topic of bugs... I'm not exceptionally squeamish about bugs, but centipedes freak me the heck out. Many years ago, I was taking a shower at my parent's house (centipede central), and I thought there was a centipede on my leg. I thrashed around and fell out of the shower through the curtain.

Turns out, it was just a tangle of hair :(

I agree on centipedes. I get silver fish in NJ which are similar. Equally gross. I have them in my condo regularly. Ick. Anything with lots of legs freaks me out.

Silverfish are effing gross; they shouldn't be able to move the way they do. My skin is literally crawling just thinking about it.

Life feels weird. Nothing feels real - but not in a bad way, just in a 'I don't really feel anything' way. I think it's cause of all the changes going on in my life - new job I'm still getting used to, looking for a car for the first time. It doesn't sound like big things but things feel so different.

Tomorrow is my last day of job training at the resturaunt that isn't the one I'll be working at. Friday I have a meeting where I'll meet all my actual coworkers and they will also all meet each other for the first time. (I'm actually the only person who started training for work ahead of time because of my job description - long story). Then Saturday until the 15th is job training with all my new coworkers at the resturant in my town that's not open yet. The 15th is the trial run, and it officially opens on the 16th. Slightly nervous but I don't feel nervous I just know I am if that makes sense.

Today is the first day I've felt physically okayish since last Wednesday. Combination of stress and bad eating. Finally feel a little better. I def gained some weight but I have no desire to weigh myself so whatevs, I've been trying to get back on track and have been fairly successful today after yesterday's failed attempt.

One step at a time! Will keep my fingers crossed, it will all fall into right place, you'll see!

I had no idea there were so many Oreo flavours. I thought there was regular, golden and red velvet. I may have heard of one or two others, but never cotton candy, or cookie dough, or rootbeer float.

We get so ripped off in Canada

    THIS
Like is it really THAT hard just to make the extra flavors of things (HELLO PEANUT BUTTER CAPTAIN CRUNCH), in both places??

Exactly. I want all the fun flavors of pop-tarts, pop and cereal. Like, why can't I get Vanilla Coke anymore? Or Cherry Coke? (I mean, I add vanilla or cherry vodka to get the flavors, but having just flavored pop would be nice).

    Way to problem solve!

I'm assuming it's because of different time zones, but when I get in here there are always 100+ new posts, I catch up and then it's like *crickets* for the rest of my afternoon.

I'm bored at work, guys, I need some distractions!

This happens to me a lot too, when I finally get time to post here, I look like a crazy person posting 20 quotes and replies with nothing in between and then NOTHING.

Exactly! Sometimes, when I'm getting caught up I don't comment on everything that I want to because I feel like people will think I'm crazy!! At least I'm not the only one!

ETA: And here comes the crazy!

My best friend in high school was Canadian, and she used to get really mad at me aboot saying "Canadian Bacon" instead of ham. She also tried to make me eat ketchup chips. This has been a brief message about what I know about Canadian food.

    Aboot! Ha!

Don't want to seem dense, but do Canadians not call it Canadian Bacon?

No, it's all down to anxiety. I know it seems strange, but in kids anxiety presents a lot like ADHD - trouble sitting still, excessive talking, impulsive behavior and along with that the anxious kids get panic attacks and obsessive thoughts. He did do really well and I'm hoping he can continue to try that technique, it was just a little frustrating to hear him put it like that since I have been intimately familiar with all his teachers and office staff for the last five years.

Aw, that sounds so stressful for him. I have generalized anxiety disorder with panic attacks and ocd behaviours (not like typical ocd but non-stop intrusive though). I also have adhd and thus why I asked. I've had anxiety since childhood and two of my sons have it in varying degrees but haven't had too much disruption yet in classroom (interrupting, not focusing, etc). Well, a it's manageable amount for now...sending you best of luck. I might have to try that technique with my own kids!

It sucks. I've actually been considering homeschooling for a year or two- which I never thought I would do - just to give him a little break from always being in trouble and to experiment with ways he can control it better. Thank you

I homeschooled for a year. It really helped both my kids after a horrible year for both of them in public school.

I looked at the state standards for each grade then I looked that the available curriculum for purchase. I didn't like anything so I wrote / chose my own. I used a combination of text-books, online teaching sites, online educational sites, the library, used book stores, and many other resources. I actually dedicated more time to it than my kids did and I was a full time graduate student at the time. Both kids went back to school (a different than the first school) the next year. My gifted daughter led the school in grades and as a natural leader. My special needs son was on grade level for everything but math and spelling (hmmm he's been back in school five years and he's still behind in those.) So, I didn't ruin the kids. We spent three hours a day doing structured work then there was less structured time in the afternoon. I had them involved in activities with other kids. I called on friends with special skills (i.e. an artist) to teach those areas. It was a good year! Each state has vastly different rules. I only had to have a notarized form stating I would teach the five core subjects. There was no testing and no followup required. I did grade and keep records but NOTHING was required or asked for by the state.

    Edit to add
I hope I explained that in a manner that what I mean is conveyed. My son in particular was pretty traumatized by school and would end up crying under his desk in math every single day. Even in homeschool he wanted to go under the table for months. It was a process to get him to enjoy learning anything for awhile. Now he even enjoys math class. Homeschooling gave both kids time to recover from the stressful situation they'd been in at school. When they returned to school it was a small charter that worked well for a few years. Now my daughter is at a highly ranked college prep high school and my son is at a very progressive private school. My son's school is actually very similar to how I homeschooled. Both kids love where they are and are thriving. I wanted my story to be an encouragement that homeschooling even for a short while can be a great time of healing and learning for children.

There are lots of resources and groups online too. Good luck with whatever you decide.

That is amazing! You were really invested and did what was best for your kids!

I think Oreos are highly overrated. I never, ever buy them. Plain chips-ahoy dipped in milk plzkthx.
I buy them because I'm not really interested in them, and my kids don't over-eat them. That's a bit of a sad reason, now that I see it in print.

LOl I don't think it is sad at all. They are the only cookies I buy for the same reason I don't like them and my son will only eat one or two. I look at it as a win-win. :)

Agreed. I'll only allow treats in my house that I know I have no interest in eating.

I have been doing brisk walk 5 times a week for an hour !! and yet last 5 months not my needle on scale seems to be stuck at one place as if a magnet is holding it in place. I confess i have been eating "normally" but do u think its slow metabolism after 40 ??? Please some one say its not my fault.

You should start a thread and ask that question.

    JK! Please don't do that!

Well, I failed my English and math this semester (missed math by 9 effing points!), but there is good news! I talked to my old boss (who just happens to be a friend of ours too) last night and he's going to let me have my job back next tax season, and I'm changing plans and going for an accounting degree. Believe it or not, I quite enjoyed doing taxes and I miss my job lol.

I've been bad with my logging, eating, and exercising lately. Haven't been to the gym in a week and probably won't be able to go until next week. Yet I wonder why I can't lose this weight....lol

And to confuse it even MORE in England ham is cooked pork, eaten cold, in a sandwich or something... I looked at the picture and thought "it's raw!" then realised bacon is sold raw and that is the topic of the conversation. Wait. So what is normal bacon? in both countries.

I had heard of Schrödinger's cat before Big Bang Theory but it was Sheldon who taught me what it was. Sheldon has taught me many things. Interesting fact, did you know the actor that plays Sheldon is 40! That man has aged well.
