Nope, cause when you WIN the race, you do not also place in your AG. Sorry, that is the breaks.
We had to email some kind of record of our activity and they will ship out the swag.
I sent mine and she replied “great. I’ll add you to the results”.
The what now?
I guess I’m taking that whole finish times live on the internet forever in a WHOLE new direction LOL.
The pictures were totally worth it.

I decided to sign up for the Hot Chocolate virtual 5k. Figure it will be something to do. I usually do the 15k but I'm more in the 5k runs right now. They are also counting the virtual towards the legacy so I think I have 4 years now (I have more but I missed a year when they weren't doing legacy). I believe their "season" is Fall 2019-Spring 2020. I skipped the Dec 2019 race here but from what I read the virtual race now is the same "year".5

Well done!
Thanks.
Truth be told, even though they were young, they weren't very fast.
But a win is a win, right?
How do you know they were young? Did you ask for ideas? Maybe they were elderly.
They can live up to 10 years, although those in the wild only live 1-2 years.
Plus, none of them were nearly as gray as I am.4 -
@Teresa502 Sounds like a wonderful race and a good time.1

rest day here, and our first 2 cases of confirmed covid in my city, fortunately not patients I've worked with. I suspect by the end of the weekend NZ will be in full lock down. And I KNOW I'm going have have an exposure! Probably early next week. I'm working over the weekend so... We will be taking all precautions, but sadly it's not 100%
Ugh! Stay safe!
Well it's official. NZ borders are CLOSED. Unless you live here, you can't get in.
This may not seem like much, but we tend to be so isolated down here, so to be completely locked down like this, it feels very very real. I mean we are an island anyway but it just feels even more isolating.
Thank goodness my husband and I decided not to fly to Fiji this morning!
Me stuck in one country, my kids in another - my worst case scenario.
Silver lining, you'll get your refund?
I have just gone through the process of trying to get refunds for my trip in May, most of it has been pretty straightforward, but one motel was like, nah ah. You paid non refundable rate, tough. And while I want to be sympathetic, there wasn't even an offer of a credit or anything! Even the hotel that we cancelled the same day gave us a credit to use!2 -
Well it’s been a bit of a trial here the last few days. School is still open but will (mostly?!) close from tomorrow. So we have been scrabbling around trying to plan all the remote learning while still teaching, all the while with staff dropping out self-isolating with symptoms. Not to mention worrying about my own family. Not an easy time to be a full-time teacher single parent!!
But I’m trying to get out in the mornings and run as often as I can. For my mental health as much as anything. @kimlight2 I agree we should concentrate on the positives. I’m very thankful that my family and I are still healthy, that we have friends to help us, shelter and food if we have to be locked down.
Meantime I have overshot my March goal. Glad I’m keeping up and really happy my speeds are improving and fitness (hopefully!) returning.

Morning.
No news here, but I suspect we will hear of more cases around 1pm - that seems to be when we are getting all the updates. I predict around the 40 mark today, with over 100 by the end of the weekend. We are definitely at the beginning of the exponential curve, so it's only a matter of time. Currently ALL of our cases are people who have come back from overseas, so I think officials are hoping that by closing the borders, that will stop Cases coming in, but I think they know its already here.
Work yesterday got information about who would have to stay home if schools closed (fortunately not me) and who has any health conditions. I reluctantly admitted to my extremely mild, mostly exercise induced, well under control asthma. I suspect that will put me in the middle of the rostering pile.
Basically we are making plans on how to work the department when we get an outbreak, and people are forced to self isolate. We already have strict rules about who can be xrayed and under what conditions. And we practice personal protection. But we are all aware nothing is perfect.
I am so thankful that I earn enough that hubby can stay home with the kids, that I am healthy, and that I have 3 pairs of running shoes, because I think im going to need them!
Did a 6.5k training run this morning. It was very nice getting out and listening to my favourite podcast. 8k planned for tomorrow! I realise 8m now not going to hit my goal, but as I'm no longer running every day and actually sticking to a running plan, my goal is to meet the plan.

I am thankful that I am healthy still (despite somehow being in the "high risk" category, over 50 & with asthma). That I can still run and walk, can still go to the store , do my schoolwork and function.
Thankful that I have a safe environment that I can spend this time with my partner to wait this crazy period out. We have enough food here to last a while (hopefully his teenager sons don't go too crazy when they are here next week), entertainment options, and I have enough yarn.
Thankful that our tax returns came in right now so we have some money to make it through as neither of us are working now (I work part time through my campus and he drives for Lyft!) and who knows WHEN we will be able to again.
Thankful I still have family and friends and so far, knock wood, we all are good.7 -
@dreamer12151 Some of my best runs are the ones that begin with "I don't wanna," but I push myself out the door anyway.4

Let's share some things we are thankful for in this insanity.
I am thankful that I work for a company that is sending everyone home to work as fast as they can. (I already work remotely at least 3 days a week so nothing new for me.)
I am thankful my family is still healthy and not stir crazy... yet.
I am thankful I can still go outside and run and stay away from people.
I am thankful I have enough food incase they close grocery stores to last for 2 or 3 weeks, even with a 16 yr old boy. Toilet paper may be an issue after week 2.
What are you thankful for?
I love this @kimlight2. A great idea to spread some positivity.- I am thankful that I live in New Zealand where most of the population is fairly relaxed and not inclined to panic, and where we have an abundant supply of food and toilet paper
- I am thankful that our government seems to get the seriousness of both the virus and the associated economic slump and is taking a responsible approach to both
- I am thankful that I am a runner and even if things shut down I can still get out and run
- I am thankful my husband and I are financially secure so when things get tough economically, we'll be ok
- I am thankful I already work from home, and that my husband is also self-employed and can largely work from home too if he needs/wants to
- I am thankful to have a house and section big enough, so that if we're obliged to stay at home, we're not living on top of each other and the children can still run around outside
- I am thankful my children are not at all worried about the coronavirus and are happy and laughing and sleeping as they should
- I am thankful that my husband is enough of a bulk shopper that we have enough meat and booze for at least six months anyway, plus he's topped us up in all the rest so we can avoid the supermarket for the next couple of months or more
- I am thankful for all the amazing and dedicated people who selflessly work in the medical profession
- I am thankful we have the brains and technology to get on top of this virus and find a vaccine sooner rather than later
- I am thankful for my health and the health of my family
- I am thankful for all you lot out there in virtual running land for sharing my passion for running and understanding the highs and lows of the sport

I want to hug, inspire and like this post. Settled on like, because you so eloquently stated how I feel.
Just occurred to me with all the hoarders, there will be fewer people at the supermarkets in the next couple of weeks, so can get what we need then. All I want now is a big bag of flour and sugar. Though apparently they are in short supply now!6 -

Probably not. Our flight was 9:35am, the borders closed in the afternoon. I'm leaving it to my husband to sort - to be honest it wasn't a lot of money - discounted fares and accommodation - and we're probably saving $3000 in eating/drinking/duty free shopping, so it's a win there, right? Also, while it's 30+ degrees in Nadi right now, it's also thunderstorms all week too! (Taking all the wins I can, thank you very much.)5 -

Yup, at the supermarket yesterday, the only things I couldn't find that I wanted to top up on were flour and yeast. Plenty of sugar there though.
But you're right, with all of us filling our pantries yesterday, the supermarkets should be fairly empty, but well stocked, for the next wee while.

Well Arkansas is up to 62 cases.
My race in July isn't cancelled yet.
I still plan to run this weekend, but I need to figure out what is a reasonable starting/ stopping/ maintaining point since the Rock N Roll Marathon just postponed with a "maybe we'll still do the race this year but we don't know when yet/ or we'll defer your registration to next year."
I can safely cut back on distances for the time being and allow myself to heal. That is the plus.
The downsides. Well I ate two slices of supreme pizza from pizza hut as well as a bunch of little debbie snacks.
At work we are just trying really hard to stay busy so that we can be deemed "essential" employees.
I probably won't sign up for any virtual races. Maybe not. I don't know. It's a depressing time for everyone and nobody knows how it will pan out. There's so much uncertainty. My kids are out of school until at least April 17 AND we closed ALL restaurants today except take out or delivery services.
We are certainly in historical times.
I wanted to take the kids and dog to the dog park but it has been storming all day here.
Not a ton of positivity radiating from me today, though i realize I have SO MUCH to be grateful for!
*sigh* it will get better. We can do this! We've lived through harder things before!9 -

Did my usual 4.5 miles today , then met up with a friend in the afternoon for a walk, and we did 5.5 miles! We just go to talking and just kept going. We did stayed the width of the greenway apart, which looked odd, but has to happen.
Lots more peopl out today, I think finally people are beginning to realize that this could be awhile and getting out when they can. Besides that it was the most perfect day temp wise, 80F, low humidity (except for the pollen. So much pollen).
@RunsOnEspresso I signed up for the 15K and just got my swag today...that jacket and medal are awesome! I plan to run it this weekend if the weather holds up (calling for lots of rain)
@Avidkeo Lots of hugs to you and all the healthcare workers..
I’m thankful for being in good health despite being over 50 and high risk (heart) issues as well
I’m thankful that my family is with me and safe and healthy..though I worry about my dad who is 82 and prone to pneumonia
I’m thankful for the food we have, the home to stay it, to be able to go out and run, my work, and all of you ❤️8 -
@Teresa502 Sounds like a wonderful race! Love the pictures!
@dreamer12151 Glad you made yourself take that first step and then had such a wonderful run.

I ran slow, hot laps on my driveway today. (It was 80°F!) I slogged up the tough hill instead of sprinting up it. Ran 3 miles at a 12:54 pace. It felt hard, but a good hard. Not an about to die hard. Did a mile of warm up and cool down walking, so a total of 4 miles traversed today.

Two workouts today. I did a short .5 mile warmup before a strength training session that was a full-body workout, but lots of planks and core work. Then worked most of the day, including checking off a major submission deadline thankfully!
Then I decided to do the mace workout for the week (still continuing with the mace study workouts). It was meant to be rowing intervals with mace work, but I don't have access to a rower now so I took my mace to the track and subbed running intervals. There were a few people at the track and they may have eyeballed me a little bit with my mace but everyone kept their distance, appropriately. When I was leaving a couple of guys showed up lugging a big battle rope so I wasn't the only one improvising their usual warrior workouts.9 -

Mission complete! "I ran it anyway" Half Marathon race report March 20, 2020.
For once, I slept pretty well the night before the race, must have something to do with not needing to worry about getting there and knowing I had a guaranteed podium place as long as I finished.
Got up at 7am, had coffee and a banana. Woke my daughter up, dressed, filled water bottles, grabbed gels, phone, earphones and my tablet and climbed onto the treadmill. 10 minute warm-up walk, then at 8:15 we were off.
I had already decided that just completing 13.1 miles on a treadmill was tough enough so I wasn't going to try to push the pace. TBH, anything faster than LSR pace is really hard for me on it, so I made peace with the fact I was going to be slow in advance.
First 9k were fine, I was watching virtual walk videos on my tablet and listening to music. My treadmill shuts itself off automatically after 90 minutes, so I knew I was going to have to pause a couple of times. Useful for pee breaks and to refill water bottles!
Getting back on and continuing after the first pause around the 9k mark was HARD, good job I'm a stubborn *kitten*.
I'd had a gel at 6km and had another at 12km, following the same strategy I use on long runs. I expected to need another at 18km but my stomach was a little annoyed at all this running with no company so eventually I skipped it.
Pause-pee break-water refills again at 16km, getting back on after that was REALLY HARD. But I cranked my music up and told myself I'd got this. By 18km I was doing the maths and the 'you can last another x minutes' self-pep-talk. At 19km I moved the incline down to 0 as my calf was starting to cramp. I made myself gasp-sing for the last kilometre, can't stop now, the end's in sight!
I crossed the finish line in second place (WTG @polskagirl01 , you're FAST and the photos made me almost feel I'd been outside!). I also won my age group, whoohooo! As it was only the third time I'd taken on the distance, I can also count it as my third best time for HM distance and a treadmill HM PR. Go me!

@eleanorhawkins Way to go!
@MegaMooseEsq I know we talked about running the Hot Dash 10m route together tomorrow, but I woke up with a sore throat today. I am 90% sure it's nothing (or that at least it isn't THAT thing), but I want to be abundantly cautious and stay away from others as much as possible.
