Confession Time! ((ABSOLUTELY NO JUDGEMENT))

I made it back from my holiday I am trying to read some/most of the old posts, but I don't know if I'll be able to get through them all (there were over 2000 new ones!). I had a great time in AZ, went to check out the Desert Museum just outside of Tucson (thanks for the suggestion!). Ate some foods I can't get here, and thought I broke a couple toes (but now I think they're just very bruised.)
Confession: I puked my guts out landing in Phoenix and again landing back in Edmonton. One of my first thoughts after each time was "I don't have to count those calories, right?"
YAYY welcome back we missed you!
Yes, we did! Also, great picture @LBuehrle8! I love y'all, but I'm just unable to keep up with this thread right now. I missed pages 797??? to 820. Don't have time to go back, so I'm sorry for all the posts I've missed, but I'm going to only be able to read what is posted during certain hours of the day. Sad. But, I have other things I have to keep up with right now.
Thank you! That's my brother, he's about 16 months older than me, and my best friend0 -
I confess I scored some serious Husband Points today - last week I ordered flowers for my wife to be delivered to her office today, and made the card out from the cats.
Just talked to her, she's giddy! (Fist pump)0 -

OMG, that is so freakin' cute! My hubby would never, ever think to do anything like that. You definitely get 157,984 Husband points to spend as you choose.0 -

I also confess that I wasn't going to eat anything today & barely anything tomorrow to make up for it but realized that was idiotic & will just try harder to not binge.
I think the reason I had a massive binge last night was from eating too early in the morning when I am not necessarily hungry & then feeling hangry the rest of the day. I need to go back to not eating anything in the morning unless I am seriously growing/starving & then space out my meals more throughout the day.
It helps me a lot in sticking to my calorie goal to skip breakfast and eat my first meal around 11:30 or 12 PM. I don't usually feel hungry in the mornings, since it takes a while for my stomach to "wake up" and realize that there's nothing in it.
ETA: I've also done that restriction, and I warn you against it. It triggers a massive restrict-overeat cycle that I'm still struggling to overcome. Please don't do it, it feels just awful! :-/
I'm the same way, I don't eat food anywhere from 10 to 11 depending on the day. I used to believe I had to eat when I woke up but that just made me feel hungier sooner. Again- I agree- the restriction just leads to more binging for me. If I binge I just chalk it up and move on, it sucks but *kitten* happens sometimes, you know?

My son will be 10 in two weeks and wets the bed (still) on average twice a month. He could sleep through a hurricane, so I really do feel that he is just not getting the "signal" to get up on those nights he's wetting. We make sure the majority of liquids come early in the day and that the very last thing he does before getting under the covers is go pee. If his sheets are wet in the morning, he strips the bed.
On another note, he will be going to his first ever sleep away camp this August for a week and I am terrified.
I can't believe I am admitting this... but I have talked about more sensitive things in this thread so WTH. I had this problem until I was about 13. It seemed to stop when I was put on Prozac for my depression. I don't know if that's what stopped it, but even when they changed my medicine it was no longer an issue. I can't help but to think it had something to do with it.0 -

In other words, they're pooping regularly, however they're a couple days behind in eliminating waste. Try the corn test (if they're anything like my 6.5 year old son or my husband for that matter, they'll think it's cool). Don't have corn for at least 7-10 days, then give them a really big serving and tell them to watch for the corn in their poop. It should pass completely in 18-24 hours, however it frequently takes 3-7 days for someone with functional constipation to pass the corn. If it takes more than 2 days, it likely indicates a larger-than-it-should-be colon, which takes up space in the pelvic bowl, not allowing complete expansion of the bladder (kind of like being 8 months pregnant) and nighttime wetting. Shrinking the colon (usually via long term use of Miralax - think 3-6 months to a year) generally ends the nighttime wetting.
You know, this topic of functional constipation has absolutely come up before in conversation with my kid's pediatrician. At the time, his doc emphasized staying hydrated to help. As you state above, he does go regularly but because there is still the occasional bed wetting, I fear it may still be an issue. I'm absolutely doing the corn test, thank you!0 -

HeeHee... Maybe, but I'll NEVER confess to that! The kids might turn on me if they knew I intentionally avoided some movies.
I love Frozen and I think it's worth watching. I get it though - my kids have no idea what Calliou is. I refuse to have that whiny mess on in my home.

Cheese forever! I think I could drop 30 lbs in a week if I gave up cheese. Not going to try it though.

Confession: I don’t know what my goal weight should be. I’m 5’9 and currently weigh 221. (That’s a big step since I’ve never admitted that to anyone!) I had the goal set at 200, but didn’t feel like that was low enough. It’s now set at 190, but now I don’t feel like that is low enough either. I weighed 180 the year before my son was born and felt awesome. I weighed 160 when I graduated from high school (and thought I was fat). I know I’ll probably find a weight where I feel comfortable and don’t have to kill myself in the gym every day. I understand all the numbers. Just not sure if I can get back to the 160s mainly because I don’t know if I have the dedication. Looking for some advice from some of you. That seems like a lot of numbers and rambling.0

Matching Frozen color manicures of course! (Proud mommy moment, a few months ago just the idea of something touching her hands made her panic, now she loves having her nails painted! Small victories over Sensory Processing Disorder!)
Aww, how adorable!
Whoo for the small victory:).
My two year old niece is obsessed with Frozen! Her brother the one day asked if she was a boy or a girl & she said no to both & he asked what she was. Her answer...Elsa hahaha.
Haha! That sounds like my daughter too! All Frozen, all the time. If it's not playing on some DVD player in my house on loop, she's still running around singing "Let it Go" and proclaiming herself to be Elsa. I've tried to use that to my advantage with the potty training endeavors, but still no luck...
Potty training at our house too! Does your little one go to daycare or are you a SAHM? Ours goes to daycare and she did pretty well this weekend. Only one accident yesterday, but we put a diaper on when she sleeps.
I'm a SAHM. She knows how everything works, what to do, and how to do it. The thing is, she won't do it. We bought panties and the waterproof ones to cover those, just so I'm not spending all day mopping up puddles of pee when she has accidents. She tries, but she tries after she pees or poops herself. The big goal is to have her potty trained before she starts 3K in September. Add in her sensory challenges and anxiety issues, and I have a feeling we're going to be at it awhile.
Potty training was a nightmare in my house. My son still pooped his pants regularly at 4.5. I had to take him to a therapist, but thankfully it helped. Now he's almost 7.5 and he still won't wipe half the time and still pees his bed once a week (and won't tell me, of course, until it's bedtime and the bed reeks and I have a lot of laundry to do the next day. Then he sleeps on the floor).
His sister still has poop in her underwear every single day. And I still have to remind them to wipe their hands (plus side - I never even consider eating their leftovers. *barf*).
Kids are just SO gross.
We had a bed wetting problem with our 8 yo daughter. We had to wake her up and take to the bathroom every night around 10.30pm otherwise she wouldn't last dry. Eventually we asked for a specialist visit via our GP and it turned out her kidneys were not 'slowing down' for the night - she got tablets prescribed to activate antidiuretic hormone and 3 months later - problem no longer exists.

That is awesome of you I wish I had that meticulous behaviour ! Great job!Danilynn1975 wrote: »I weigh out veggies like sweet potatoes at the grocery store on my food scale, yes I bring it with me. It's a flat black smooth one and looks like an iPad from a distance. It any of the sweet potatoes weigh more than 200 grams I won't buy it. So some weeks, I don't get them, because none are in the magic gram weight. I also buy loose onions and bell peppers on a similar weight method. Again some weeks, there aren't any in that weight.
I only buy my International Delight coffee creamer in the single serving mini containers like you get at restaurants. That way I know exactly how much creamer is in my coffee every morning.
I have counted the pieces of popcorn I have eaten.
All meat for myself is weighed out of the big package, vacuum sealed with date, weight, and either put in the fridge or freezer.
Packages of cheese are brought home and cut immediately into 1 ounce slices and vacuum sealed and returned to the fridge.
Lunches for the week are done on Sunday. Monday, Wednesday and Friday I usually do mixed veggies 300 grams frozen weight to be microwaved. Tuesday and Thursday are Broccoli days and that is 400 grams of frozen weight to be microwaved.
Boxes of Cereal if they are mine, get pre portioned out to 42 gram Ziploc baggies. I'm the only one who will drink 2% milk. So the half gallon gets weighed out into 8 ounce containers and returned to the fridge in their little reusable thermos containers.
When I make biscuits, I weigh the flour out and do not use a measuring cup. Any flour used for kneading that is left gets scraped up and weighed to subtract from the recipe.
I have made hamburgers for a party and weighed each patty, and thrown away what would not divide evenly into the calculated weight of the others.
I can actually nail the number of servings a peanut butter container has in it by the label to perfect accuracy. I weigh it out too.
I actually own 4 food scales, 1 that travels, 1 at the office and 2 in the kitchen. Their batteries are changed the 1st day of every month whether they need it or not. They are also all the same brand and identical. I'm a lab tech and have used the calibrated weights to check their accuracy, they are in acceptable range. I do this often.
Shall I continue. I have developed a lot of quirks over my 900+ logging days here.

I'm feeling oddly reminiscent and emotional today for some reason, which is weird for me lol.
We got married in our neighbor's back yard. It had palm trees, etc. so really tropical looking. When people asked what we wanted/ needed, we'd say things like, "Could you bring potato salad?" (We were consolidating 2 households and really didn't need anything.)0 -

He's at home, and my mom is retired so she provides care while my husband and I are at work. Otherwise it's up to my husband and I to look after him. For anyone else who doesn't know, a spica cast is basically a full body cast. He's been in it for a month now. He broke his femur playing at the park and had to have a closed reduction surgery. It's been a pretty stressful month and it's taken a toll on our family.0 -
Have a question that I feel I can ask here without ridicule. How many steps a day would you consider sedentary vs lightly active. I try to hit 10-12k a day and wondering if I have my activity level set correctly as I changed it from sedentary to lightly active0

To those with potty training issues....as a physical therapist specializing in Women's Health (esp pelvic floor dysfunction, though not necessarily pediatric), consider that your kids might be what's termed "functionally constipated". Just a thought, obviously check with your pediatrician...
Oh, and 'cause this is the confessions thread and here I am chiming in after 817 pages of silence (and being a couple pages behind) I confess that I've lurked since the beginning and have enjoyed voyeuristically spending time with ya'll, however as in real life, haven't felt as though my speaking would improve the silence. Hopefully though, that tidbit might help (and may possibly have many of you checking your poops for corn more often).
That's funny and informative! You should speak up more! Welcome!0 -

It would be stupid to get an MS if I’m going to stay in government. I only need my BA for my job, so I’m already over-qualified.
I love the job security, but I hate that it’s not challenging, no advancement other than getting the standard automated raise every year, etc. I also love the thought of using my brain again (I’m a weirdo that loves school).
Hubby says do it, but if I do, I have to get out of government work (I can make at least $10-$15k/yr more in private sector work and raises are usually better). In private sector, the degree would pay for itself within 2 years, maybe less. Am I crazy to want to get out of “safe” government work into private companies?
I am a person who loves school too. I actually take free classes on coursera for no reason other than the fact that I enjoy learning. I don't think it's crazy to want to be more fulfilled at work. I would say go for it.
