ChaLEAN Extreme AFTER p90X - what I think...
Ok, so many of you wanted to know what I think of doing CLX after graduating p90X....Here are my thoughts so far (this is only one week in, so I'll definitely try to come back and update this after each phase). 1. CLX feels much easier in the lifting circuits at first until you realize that you can lift MUCH heavier in her…

Figuring your net with a Fitbit
I really burned a lot of calories today and was wondering if anyone has figured out some kind of calculation for figuring out what you net when you use a fitbit to determine your daily burn. The process seems to be eluding me. Please help!

NSV!!! - macro related
i posted this on my wall but thought i'd share with the EM2WL group. so, i planned/logged all my food for the day on my way into work this morning. decided to take a look at what my macros look like and they're at 40/31/29 (goal carb40/prot30/fat30)!!! i guess kiki and lucia were right when they said that after a while,…

No wonder!!
So my day is not even over yet and the fitbit says I have burned almost 2700 calories, I know it will be over 2800 by midnight which means when I was eating 1200 calories I had like a 1600 calorie deficit! No wonder I was not losing weight and having all kinds of digestive issues. The fitbit has really made me confident in…

Still losing in a diet break?
If you take a diet break for 1-2 weeks and still lose, does that mean your probably not eating enough still (and thus your cut is incorrect?).

I am not doing TDEE right now, but I am eating my
exercise calories. I guess I am looking for more support from people that have eatin more, or their exercise calories, and succeeded. I feel I am stronger with much more energy just since before the 4th of July(when I started eating all my calories). I am not paying "much" attention to the scales, just seeing how I feel. I…

Kind of hitting the "Doubt" stage of EMTWL
Feeling very disheartened by any lack of progress, per se, and only seeing a slow steady gain. I am bracing myself for the standard "sounds like you need a full reset" feedback, and I have to be honest and say that I reject that line of thinking. I am getting married in mid-October, and I know this is for life, etc. etc.,…

How important are the macros?
How important are the macros? Are they just to guide you to making more fulfilling choices with your food? Or if you ignored them, and stuck to you TDEE cut calories - would you gain / STS compared to using them, sticking to calories?

Does the body "remember" dietary behaviors? Mine did.
If you were to fall back into a pattern of dietary behaviors that were "damaging" or "dysfunctional" previously, but at a more optimal nutritional level, would the body "remember" and fall back into it's old way of "dealing" with said behaviors. For example, if previously, you used to eat very little during the day and…

Now this is weird!!
I measured today. My measurements were: Chest: 41" Hips: 43" Waist: 43" Biceps: 14.5" Weight: 228 (same as starting, up 6 since starting em2wl) My hips and waist were up an inch each from my last set of measurements. My chest hasn't change in 3 months but my waist overall is down 3" (hips the same, biceps the same) I've…

Exercise
Okay, I followed instruction and watched some youtube vids this morning. I went up on my cals to 2100 and if I go over a bit I'm not panicking. I'm trying to hit that. Now, what should I be doing exercise wise? I know I should be lifting, but how much? How often? And I adore Zumba but should I stop doing that and…

Anyone else working on a 90 day challenge?
After educating myself about eating more to weigh less, I came off of a 1500 calorie plan and set a 90 day challenge for myself to eat at 15% Cut Value. (I realize this is not a full metabolism reset but I'll admit that I need this baby step first before committing to eat at TDEE.) I'm 30 days into my challege and am…

Hi! I'm fairly new to EM2WL and looking for friends.
Hi all! My name is Pamela. I'm 49, married, and mom to two teenagers. I'm pretty new to the EM2WL group. I would love to be able to find more friends who share the same outlook on dieting - people who 'get it' that starving yourself on 1200 cal/day is no way to live!

Have you had experience with cyst on your thyroid gland?

Gaining inches and muscle?
Hi all, I spoke to my trainer today and mentioned that I was putting on weight. She said that unless I'm binging on alcohol and crappy food all day long, it's most likely muscle. However, my clothes have been a bit more snug lately after gaining about 5 pounds. Is it possible that my measurements would increase from muscle…

I'm so over it.
I miss seeing my NET calories go down when I workout. I'm finding my motivation to do any form of exercise dwindling as is my interest in MFP and calorie counting. Like without the instant gratification of seeing the effort pay off in reduced NET it all feels boring and pointless. It's not a fun game anymore it's just…

Finding it hard to reach my calorie goal
I am used to eating 1400ish calories a day. I am now aiming to eat 1700-1800 but I am having trouble reaching that goal. How can I add extra calories easily without eating bad food?

eating more (still have a deficit) and gaining weight
SO, I have upped my cal trying to keep my deficit no more than 500 cal a day...so I have been avg 2000 to 3500 cal deficit a week...I went from 179 to 187 in 3 weeks...and all my clothes are tight!...I know that most will get on here and say to do a reset but I can't afford to go buy a whole new wardrobe for work. has…

Confused about calculating how many calories I need??
So I am confused about several things regarding calculating how many calories I should be eating.. in the main thread where it is explained, it says to use scooby's fat loss calorie calculator, which uses the Harris-Benedict formula. I noticed on the website he has another calorie calculator, which is called the "world's…

I have Been Sabotaging my Weight Loss....
I dont log everything i eat, but i have my calories set to 2100. i have been eating tdee + (2500 and over) for 2 months now. i wasnt doing the reset, just the cut. im in so much denial about how many calories i eat a day. I would eat a few potato chips but that few would quickly amount to over 500 calories. i just never…

Help determining activity level please :)
I want to do this right. So I need help figuring my activity level so I can figure my cut. I would appreciate any feedback you can offer :) I currently do this: M/W/F - 25 mins on the treadmill (5 min warm up, 15 min run/jog, 5 min cool down), then work my arms on my JMBodyShop (knockoff Total Gym) for about 20 mins. Slightly panic-y
OK, it all makes perfect sense. I understand the EM2WL philosophy and the concept that eating below your BMR is bad. But I'm still seriously panicking about slamming my cals up so high! Like almost everyone else, I started MFP on 1200 and lost well. Read the forums after my loss stalled and calculated my BMR to 1550(ish)…

Pregnant! =)
This group has been so amazing! My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for over a year. I have VLCD most of my life until February of 2012. I upped my calories to maintenance (for a reset) on May 29th and got a PPT on July 7th! Coincidence? I don't think so! =) Granted, I gained 4 pounds during my reset but that…

Is it OK
To use the machines at the gym to start with weights? Our gym is very small and I'm often the only person there. We don't have a personal trainer available, so I don't have anyone to check for form or that I'm doing it right. I've used the weight machines in the past and do now, almost every day. Also, how do you know when…

Friends??
Hi All - I've JUST decided to start out on this path. Not sure how closely I'll follow all the "rules" but as I approach my life long goal I know I need a change because I want to lean and fit and full, not starving and skinny and weak. I am looking for more friends living the EM2WL lifestyle. The support will be nice…
