1200 calories a day suggested by nutritionist
Why do nutritionists/doctors/professionals suggest for people to eat at 1200-1400 calories to lose weight? If eating more to weigh less works, why is it 1200 calorie diets are suggested? I know that if I went to a nutritionist today, they would have me eat about 1200-1400 calories a day. I have a friend who is eating about…

Hi Guys, Well since I upped my calories I have lost 3.1lbs in about 7/8 weeks, I also initially lost nearly 15 inches. But body shape wise nothing is changing anymore?! My workout routine is as follows Monday AM: 45 mins - 1 hour Strength training (following a 5x5 routine) Tuesday AM: 35 minutes ripped in 30 (if time also…

Healthy workout? Opinions?
ok, so...I've been over-training. (basically working my butt bigger) sigh. So, question for you guys...if I drop my workouts to 2 lift days, one plyometrics (jump training) day and 7 days a week walking dog for hour, would you consider that to be a 3-5 day/week moderate activity level?? (and a normal workout level?) I…

Do my numbers look right?
Hi all. I am totally onboard with the concept of fueling the body adequately. And I keep running these numbers, hoping to see a bigger umber. But I guess being a small person just doesn't yield big numbers. Could someone please tell me if I've done thenumbers correctly? 40 yo female 5'3" 103 lbs 18% BF When I used the…

I have been working hard to overcome binge eating disorder,…

WHAT do you eat?
It looks like every other post is about how much we should eat. I get the concept and have my numbers figured, but it seems to be very close to what I was eating when I was gaining weight. Do you eat what ever you want, or is there a prescribed diet that everyone is adhering to within those calorie guidelines. Is the heavy…

weight trend site?
I have seen a link posted before for a site that you can track your weigh ins and it shows if you are trending up or down. Does anyone have the link? I couldn't remember where I saw it.

Cardio
How much Cardio are you doing and what type? I'm trying to change things up a little and not sure how to adjust my cardio. I do a class on M and W, that only burn about 250-300 calories per 45 min class. I'm thinking I should be burning more than that for my cardio. Any thoughts? I'm also adding in more strength training…

Bulking and cutting (Kiki)
I've started reading Kiki's blog and ran across this...... Benefits of bulking include: *The most obvious benefit is to add muscle mass, since muscle building cannot take place in a caloric deficit. Is this really true? I guess I'm confused. I thought the whole purpose of lifting heavy while cutting was to build muscle…

3 month plateau here!
SW 230 GW 165 CW 195 I dropped from 230 to 195 and then everything just stopped working. It was around the time MFP suggested to me that I reconfigure my goals and it dropped me from 1600 down to 1400 a day. So the premise is that if I'm working out I shouldn't have heeded that suggestion, do I have that right? I also only…

Figuring out activity level and exercising less
Hi! I just joined EM, but I have seen the YouTube videos. I'm also reading New Rules for Women, and Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle. I'm familiar with Scooby's workouts and F2F. I can figure out my BMR, TDEE and according to the calipers I have, my BF is between 28-32%. I enter 32% to be on the safe side. I'm 42, 5'6", weigh…

Will Someone ** pretty please** look over my diary/data?
Hi! In the past 2 weeks I have had no change in weight, and only minor changes in measurements. I feel like I'm trying my absolute best to do everything right, and NOTHING is happening...except I am making progress in my weight training. I have hormonal reasons my weight loss can be expected to be slow, but I am getting…

Success without hitting macro goals?
Hi! I am a few days into upping my calories. My calories are set at 1900 (moderate activity), and my macros are 40/30/30, as they have been for over a year. With the calorie increase, I am having a very hard time fitting in enough protein (143g). I am a vegetarian, and despite careful meal planning and including whey…

Decided to raise my calories
So I decided to raise my calories and I'm so scared! I feel really bad about eating more:S I heard it takes some time to start losing again but how long should I wait to weigh myself? I don't know if I could keep going if I saw a big gain.

MFP VS. EMTWL
When I plug in the calculation from scooby's workshop MFP says I will gain .2 lbs per week eating that much. Any thoughts on that? Also, right now I am set to net my BMR and I eat back my exercise calories because I really am not sure what activity level to select. I do NROLW 3 times per week, walk the dog for about 30…

Supplements/Calories
Just curious if everyone logs their supplements as calories. I log mine and here is how it breaks down: 4 oz. of pomegranate juice - 75 calories Liquid vitamins - 25 calories Flax Seed Oil - 130 calories That's 230 calories in added supplements alone. Should I continue counting those as my daily calories? Thanks for the…

Estimating exercise burn
What is the most accurate way to estimate calories burned from exercise without an HRM? I use a combination of MFP and Livestrong to estimate calories burned based on the type of workout, duration and my weight. If I do machine exercises, I use the number from the machine but I allow it to track my heart rate and I enter…

Reset metabolism at maintenance
I just now heard about this and have no idea how I missed it as I read all the stickies. I never did eat at maintence for 2 weeks. I just went to the 15% cut of TDEE 9which was alot more than I was eating unless I didnt record and ate at night too much). This is week 4 and I'm holding out another 2 weeks before measuring…

All in the mind?
So far, I've managed to lose a pound a week since increasing my calories from 1200 to 1500 (my BMR is 1429), so all well and good. But who else feels really "fat" some days? Almost bloated. I'm not sure whether I should lower the calories again...this "feeling" won't go - even before I've eaten. When I first started, it…

Had to a grab a fast lunch and was suprised by taco bell
Well I was looking around for the "healthiest" fast option and found that the regular crunchy taco's are not all that bad: 1 Taco is: 170 calories 12g carbs 10g fat 25mg cholest 8g protien 290mg sodium So i got 3....ya that sodium is killer....but still some of the lowest numbers I have seen, and this is over Togo's,…

Going over with healthy fats
I am trying the eat more idea again and I am hoping this time I see results in the right direction (Last time I gained 10 1/2lbs in a month and a half. Starting to see the light, but would love input....
Ok.... I started my weight loss journey in January. I'm 5'6", weghed 186, and I'm a 35 year old mom. Under the supervision of a personal trainer and nutritionist, I started by cutting my calories down to a net of 1200 a day and I worked out for at least an hour a day, 6 days a week. I've lost a little over 30lbs but hit a…

Another "am I understanding this right" post
I posted in one of the stickied threads, but I didn't get a response so I figured I'd copy paste here to make sure it was seen! Okay, I've spent the last few days reading through all the stuff on TDEE and BMR on the forums. PLEASE tell me if I have this right, because every time I think I do, I read something that totally…

Nutritionists talks set point theory correct?
Basically, she said the body has a preferred weight it tries to maintain. You see I have lost some weight and couldn't lose anymore (it has been about a year). I was stuck at the 145#, eating 1500 regardless of exercise. And my nutritionist said maybe this is your set point weight. Since discovering this group, I have not…
