TDEE Calculations. Lifting and zero cardio
I know they are just estimates and it takes some data tracking and what not to really figure out your maintenance calories. I was just curious what other lifters who do little to zero cardio input into TDEE calculators, or hearing a little bit about the process of figuring out your real maintenance calories. I'm hesitant…

Daily or Weekly Calorie Intake?
Which should I focus on? Some people have told me that as long as I eat my weekly total of maintenance calories a week, I'll be able to stay at the same weight while others have told me to eat my maintenance calories every day to maintain the same weight. My maintenance calories are 1400 per day, which means 9800 calories…

5ft4 ladies...how do you maintain?
Hey all! This seems like a friend group so just wanted to throw my question out there... I've been losing weight on 1500 but recently got over excited and tried 1200. Massively regretted it as it's just too extreme for me. So I went back to eating 1500...it's only been a day and I've gained a pound and a bit!! Forgive me,…

Increase straight to 2000?
hi everyone, I've been slowly loosing (with minor fluctuations) on around 1400-1500. I need to gain 5lbs and was thinking of increasing straight to 2000... Because I'm horrible with sticking to "slow increases" and usually "chicken out". However, I've heard some people gain like 5-10lb at once in a week from Increasing. Am…

Any folks who work with/around food out there?
Hey! I might be getting a job in the culinary industry. (excited!!) But being a health-conscious person who loves food, I'm afraid of gaining weight. I don't think I know of too many professional cooks who are overweight, actually, but it's still a concern of mine. I've looked up certain things (lots of lists online like…

Carb Intake?
I've heard that when increasing calories you should keep your carb intake lower to avoid water weight, is this true? If so, how many grams should I be eating a day if I'm upping from 1600 to 2000 calories? Thanks!

I can't decide on where to go from here.. Suggestions? (Pics)
Hey! So, I've been cutting a bit, and my plan so far has just been to cut until I feel ready to perhaps do a bulk. Thing is, I'm starting to feel pretty lean, but at the same time I personally still think I have just a teeny bit too much belly fat to comfortably bulk. (Not sure what effect the muscles would have on how my…

USDA MyPlate
Do you think it will be easy to maintain if you follow the MyPlate rule for 3 meals a day? That is: 1/2 your plate should be fruit/veg, 1/4 protein and the remaining 1/4 starch?

How would increasing my intake after restricting affect me?
I've been eating about 900-1000 calories a day recently and I'm, starting today, going to eat 1200 calories no matte what. I was diagnosed with anorexia in October and though I was weight restored (5'4 88lbs to 120lbs) I began to relapse and now I'm 101-103lbs. I'm realizing now that I'm heading down the same miserable…

Pregnant and looking for a "buddy"
Hello! I'm currently almost 8 months pregnant, and looking to gain only the recommended (for me) 0.5 lbs/week during my last month and a half. Lately I've been eating tons of crap, and I'm looking for someone with similar goals to support me (and I'll support them) with my goal of eating HEALTHY food (lots of it though)…

What to do after a binge?
I have been maintaining successfully for about a month. I lost my weight eating about 1,200 calories, and I've been adding 100 calories a week. It's been going very well...until yesterday. I've been out of town and did really well with my eating until yesterday. I ended up losing all control and binging badly. Hopefully, I…

Advice to Control Eating??
Hey Y'all! I'm having some trouble controlling my eating lately. I'm training to make my college XC team, so it's pretty essential for me to control my weight as well. I'd even like to lose a little if anything, as it's a sport where extra weight is not a good thing at all. But that isn't the primary goal. I'm trying to…

1500-1800 stories?
Hi! I've been trying to up my calories for awhile... I've started to do it "slowly" but halfway through the week chicken out. I'm considering just making the jump from 1500-1800 instead of slowly, I've maintained on it before but with stress and such started to restrict. What is the likelyhood is gain water weight, and if…

Am I sedentary or lightly active?
I stopped working out and am a student who's usually on her feet half the time (If I'm in campus around 10 hours a day, I'm usually walking 1-2 hours at a time, not including when I'm cooking/cleaning at home). I plan to workout 3x a week once I get my schedule cleared out (30 minutes circuit training + 5km run). But…

Just reached goal
Hi! I'm new to MFP, and joined mostly so I can maintain. So far I'm loving it. I still keep me hard copy/paper food journal, but I'm hoping to transition slowly up from my losing caloric range (1,000-1,200) to a maintenance range (currently at 1,260, plan to go to 1,300 in May, guessing/hoping I'll maintain somewhere in…
