Lanette - Everyone arrived safe and unfrazzled Friday, thanks for asking. Egg did her usual disappearing act, finally showed up as I was trying to fall asleep last night. Her meows always sound like kitten meows when there are people around and she's trying to be super quiet. Silly cat. My daughter got up just now when I did, and Egg went bolting outside (where it's 25F) like a murderer was on her tail.
Terri - glad you're seeing progress, sorry you're still not well!
We all enjoyed the day yesterday - the two older kids did some brush cutting helping "Pa" get it gathered up and burned throughout the chilly morning. Levi dragged out the lawn mower and "mowed" the lawn until he ran himself and the mower both into a huge puddle and had to be taken inside to change his clothes before he caught a chill... While they were playing outside, my daughter and I made cowboy cookies for them to take on their hike today--three-hour drive to Hot Springs, two- or three-hour hike, three-hour drive back, it's going to be a long day for them.
I had a tough evening and overnight, feeling pretty banged up, but I plan to be very lazy today while they're off on their adventure, let my system get some rest, and let Corey take over everything. One more night with them, and then we'll wave them off back to Kansas, and absolutely no idea when we'll see them again. Military families take what they can get, but nothing is ever certain unless you have your arms around them right that minute. Rebecca - I think of you every time I say anything about military families.
I think I'll lay back down.
I love y'all,
Lisa in AR
Hugs, enjoy every second friend!🤗💖🙏. Awe its nice to be thought of.
I had Lee make copies of "consent forms" with the Medicure whole body donation that I need to send in. I called the company yesterday and found out I need to be a BMI of 30 or lower. That would mean I need to lose 60/70 lbs. Its daunting and a bit morbid to think upon, to lose weight to qualify for something that is after you pass. But that's my goal anyways. I am tracking food, water and going to walk at the gym. All good things. Plus it keeps my mind preoccupied and not thinking about Navy sons.🤗💖🙏

I just ran across this - several of you often mention gratitude, I thought this was neat
Melody Beattie: “Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.”
Heather - what a nice surprise running into your son on your morning run! Really gives a small-town feeling. I never get tired of hearing about all the cool shops you have nearby.
Lisa - glad the kids and grands arrived safely and are having fun on the homestead.
Jeannie - beautiful little tree and scene.
Rebecca - we looked into the body donation thing but it got sidelined by other tasks. When Lee passes, does the military take care of all his final arrangements?
Weather looks good - a little rain, 35 degrees, so will zip into town shortly. No slip-sliding. Not sure about the rest of the week, forecast changes every couple hours.

I figure since I was a blue baby when born, its the least I can do. My eldest sister is horrified by the idea of it, but its my decision. Lee will be cremated, which isnt covered by the Navy, and I will send his ashes to the Navy for a burial at sea. I will get the coordinates back saying where they tossed the ashes. I can not attend. We will most likely just have a nice get together of friends and family a big potluck.

Finally remembered to take pictures of the tree that I mentioned several days ago. This is one that my aunt and uncle made for my aunt's sisters (my mom was one of them). The first photo is unplugged, second photo plugged in, it really does look so much nicer when it's lit up! The third photo is a "tree" that hubby and I made, I had collected and painted the cones over time, but didn't really know quite what to do with them. Eventually, I came up with the idea of turning them into a tree. That took some trial and error too! The final solution was for hubby to build a wire frame (1/2" fence type wire, you can see a bit near the top) and then I attached the cones with fishing line. It meets Michele's 5' rule! lol (Looks great from 5' away). Unfortunately, I didn't take the pic from that distance as it's snowing/raining and I didn't want to get wet.
Terri, I'm sorry to hear that you are still testing positive, sincerely hope that you feel better for Christmas Day!
Katla, taking your grands out to buy their own present after Christmas sounds like a really good idea! Certainly less stressful for you and they get exactly what they want. I do hope your hubby feels better soon.
Lisa, happy that your gang got there safe and sound. Hope they enjoy their hike!
Allie, add me to your list of ladies who love seeing your pics! I'm also happy to see Carmine happier! Tobias seems to be a real godsend!
Annie, glad that guy was a twit to start with, probably saved you a LOT of hassle!
My plan for today was to go walking with a friend for our usual Sunday morning walk, but she is a bit snowed in so that's not happening. But the kitchen is cleaned up, catching up on here, then going to finish wrapping presents, only two left to do. Would have done them yesterday when I did the rest, but these ones will have to be wrapped with paper, I use bags for the rest, but don't have any large enough for these last two. Not that the gifts are especially huge, just awkward shapes and I have repurposed many of the really large bags that I had made. Also have to do up the minutes for the strata meeting that we had last week. I had given up the secretary's position (YAY!) but the secretary wasn't able to be at the meeting so I was asked if I would do it. As it was the chairperson that asked and the chairperson is hubby, I agreed. That won't take long, it was a short meeting, it's just actually doing it! I should probably just do it now and get it over with! On that note......
Hugs for those needing them (especially those with recent surgical procedures! and those that are feeling under the weather), congrats to those celebrating and welcome to any newbies that are lurking!

DH received a baby Yoda pan to make pancakes in for Christmas. He made them this morning! Very sweet and lots of calories but delicious! I am now suffering the consequences of eating it all! OOOps! Here’s a pic before I started eating them:

Go Rebecca! You can do it!
I disabled my okcupid account. I'm tired of the game. I got lucky once on it, and had a couple good years, but lately the men have been behaving badly. And I need to focus on my parents first.
Today was a bad diet day, but at least I walked 40 mins. Yay!
Annie in Delaware7 -
Jeannie in New Mexico-I have found with grieving I just started putting back some of the traditions in the form I wanted at different times. There is no schedule. It makes perfect sense it brings comfort.
Karen-I remember going to my school gym to take the polio vaccine.
Evelyn-I like both of the trees!
Machka and Debbie-good to hear you are both doing well. You should be feeling much better soon after the new year.
Terri-I believe just because one tests positive it does not mean they are still contagious. I have been told by reliable sources that you can test positive for a couple of months after having Covid. Of course, I bet a negative test would sound reassuring. Hope the crud feeling leaves soon.
My cold evidently decided to take a turn to a sinus infection. Woke up in the middle of night with sinuses around left eye hurting horrible. Went to urgent care and got antibiotic and steroid called in (along with the Mucinex-D you have to sign for). Prescriptions were finally ready around 5. Pharmacies are having such a hard time keeping up. At first I thought it was just the one closest to my house, but evidently it is everywhere. Hoping I can sleep better tonight.
Off to get ironing done so tomorrow I can pack for trip!
Take care all,

For some reason, I was especially tired so I slept in, Did Jackie Xtreme Abs DVD since that one’s shorter than the cardio one. Then I went for my walk around the block.
Realized that I need to make two crocheted dish towels for the gals on my bowling team for tomorrow. They don’t take that long to make.
Rebecca – I like one of your “to do’s”. The one about living your life in a nutshell. I really want to donate my body, just haven’t gotten around to investigating it. I think we have it in our wills that we are to be cremated, wonder if this means that we’ll have to change the will?
Jeannie – HUG
Karen – all my kids had the chickenpox and Jess even shared hers with Vince! I never got it, so I’m thinking that I must have had them when I was little and so was immunized. I did get the shringrex vaccine, tho. How I remember standing in line in the hallway of my school for my sugar cube!
When Jess was at Iowa State, I got this light coat that you can fold up so you can take it camping and it doesn’t take up much room (only I never do that). I am always amazed at how very light that coat is but how very warm it is
Evelyn -I really like that tree that your aunt and uncle made. What is that around it?
Mentioned to Vince yesterday about setting up a trust for PJ. Really, we don’t see him often enough or even hear from him/Denise to know what he’s interested in. I’m thinking that we should set it up so that the money can’t be touched until he’s 21. At 18 a lot of kids aren’t very responsible. By 21 they probably are. We’ll probably eventually take him out so he can buy presents for his birthday but for Christmas maybe we should just put money for him into the trust. Many years ago I was secretary of a non-profit and I absolutely hated it. That’s probably about the only good thing that came out of our being relocated.
Have most of the towels made, just need to put on the buttons. Going to see if I have Christmas bags to put them in to give them to the girls. If not, I’m not sure what I’ll do.
Got in another walk around the neighborhood
Allie – lovely houses. You are so talented

With whole body donation, you have to let family know because Medicure needs to be the first people you call after you've passed. They come to get you, and if you don't call (Medicure) from the get go, your family might be responsible for the cost of various expenses.👍🏻

Michele, it’s fishing line! It started with a round base with a dowel in time middle, nails were hammered in both the dowel and the base, then the lights get attached, then the whole thing gets strung with fishing line. I was told the nails were the worst part!
Ginny, thanks, I like them too!

My margins are clear!
I went in for a dressing change and my doctor heard I was there and dropped in to have a look and tell me that my results are good. Margins are clear. She got all the cancer!
Then I came home for a nap.
This is 5 days post surgery ...

Chickenpox ... had them twice. Once very lightly as a baby and again really, really badly at 12. I was so sick and covered from head to toe.

Machka, wow! She really took a chunk out! happy for you that margins are clear and you can just get on with the healing!
Debbie, was also happy to hear that your margins were clear and you can get on with healing also.

Allie: 🥰 The houses. Looks like you had lots of fun.
Machka: That’s good news. Just rest up and heal dear girl.
Not sure if I ever had chickenpox. My girls had it though. And I had shingles in 2001. Horrible!
Feeling much better this morning. I was dog tired yesterday, but slept well last night, and head is beginning to clear. That brain fog is a real doozy.

Thanks.
The hip incision is quite long (and deep) as well. But it's very neat. The doctor used quite a few internal stitches with that one which will dissolve over the next 3 months, plus some external stitches which should come out in 10 days or so.
I've discovered it gets sore and tired when I walk up hill.
