My pants size is down to 20 from 26.
My shirt size is down too.
Sweat shirts that were tightish last winter, are baggy as hell now.
Yet I feel bigger than ever.11 -
The icky feeling you get when you go off healthy eating and consume calorie- and fat-laden foods. That's what happened on my birthday. Hubby took me to our favorite Mexican restaurant, and I was looking forward to it all day! And I chowed down, believe me. Then we came home to cake and ice cream, which I had not had since his birthday, months before.
Afterwards, I felt SO SICK! Couldn't wait to eat good-for-you meals the next day.
The unbelievable satisfaction I feel after hitting the gym and lifting and doing cardio for about 2 hours. Exhausted but on such a high! I can't imagine ever going back to my old lifestyle.[/quote]
Exact same thing. However, it was a wake up call that it wasn't that hard to eat right and when I thought about eating more I didn't because I didn't want to make myself sick again.

I've heard that losing weight gives you confidence, but no one told me that weight loss would give me a whole new personality. Being overweight my ENTIRE life, I never realized how much my weight and insecurities affected my personality. I was hiding behind my weight my whole life and I never even knew it. Once the weight came off, the true me that had been hiding for years emerged. And she is radically different from the person I always thought I was! It's been an interesting journey getting to know this new me!
Leave a soft cloth, piece of foam, or towel in the car to put between the seatbelt and you

How most guys notice you more, the more weight you lose. It happened when I lost weight before, and it's happening again lately. Ya'll guys are shallow. Sorry, but it's often true. LOL
I had to think about this. If the man is overweight too then, yes it is shallow. On the other hand if they take care of themselves and go to the trouble to stay in shape and be fit, then they have every right to want someone who is interested in being in shape and fit too. I feel I should make as much effort as they do to take care of myself.
Yes so true. When really heavy men talk to me i ask them what are their health goals. Most of them just give up easily. I explain that i want to be with someone who has goals to become healthier. Some understand, some get an attitude.8 -

Funny thing is i was plenty confident 65 pounds ago not sure why weight loss makes all these insecurities come out.

YES. sometimes i wonder why i keep sabotoging my wtloss moment. It's losing the fat armor. I don't want it but it's scary to lose it.

So very true! My response is always 'Eat less, Move more'. They look at you like you're taking the p!ss. I think with all the media attention on fad diets people have become conditioned into thinking the only way you can lose weight is to pay over the top prices for some quick fix powder type thing that basically just does the same thing as CICO
I even leave out the "move more" part most of the time, as it's barely applicable to weight loss. Most of the actual deficit comes from caloric restriction, unless one is borderline athlete training. Granted, they still think I'm full of crap, but I've pulled my 1400 kcal/day logs out before, which was my caloric target when I cut from 195 to 150 in a few months.
The actual hard part is trying to convince them to accurately measure their damned food.
But yes the scales bit i by far the hardest bit to explain as they just look at you like your some kind of weirdo, weighing your food. I still have co workers look at me funny when I bring my lunches into work with my pre made snack packs thats all pre weighed and measured
That new coworkers tell me that I'm going to gain wt because i eat "too much". I exlpain that I've lost wt by calorie counting, & use MFP. It works. Eating 5 meals a day within my calories is not eating too much & it's doctors order. I only consume about 300 cal or less per meal.
That other heavy women at work ask me how I'm losing wt yet they assume calorie counting is too much work. I'm so accustomed to it & i know it works.14 -

I am comfortable existing.
I used to be very much a "get in and get out of other people's way" kind of person. I didn't realize that, for me, this mindset coincided with me not feeling like I had a right to be out in public anymore because I was heavier. Like I didn't deserve to exist in the world because I was big.
As soon as I realized it, I had to take a moment to not cry right there in the store.
I exist, and I deserve to exist, whether I'm a size 8 or a size 20. The same goes for everyone else!
ETA: One that I learned just now: You can be a year in maintaining at your goal weight, and things nobody tells you about losing weight will STILL pop out at you.59 -
When you see how much space is between your stomach and the steering wheel now.

When family members or people you know ask you "how you did it" and you tell them... you ate right and exercised... and they look at you like you're lying and want the exact map of what you did!!!
How living in an upstairs apartment isn't a pain anymore. Especially when you see the neighbors struggling to get up the stairs.
When you realize you park hella far in any parking lot now and look forward to the walk.
When your child (my daughter's 4)doesn't comment on your big bouncy belly anymore.21 -
When you realize you wanna take a full body picture with the family for the holiday. And when your take said picture realize that...."you don't have to slouch or slump over to try and hide your belly anymore" YOU CAN STAND TALL AND PROUD NOW20

Yeah, this is me too. I really get this -- I have this experience and similar ones where it seems like, all us a sudden, I just love myself or feel amazingly comfortable and content ... and I realize it has something to do with what you have shared here.8 -
Has anyone else noticed how uncomfortable hard chairs are? My back hurts against the back and my butt hurts against the seat. Getting bony all over.
I am half way to my goal weight, and as I was leaning against a wall the other day I felt my shoulder blades and it was really uncomfortable. Seats and matresses seem more comfortable now for some reason though.5 -

Yep me too. I think I am of similar build, but additionally with the larger boobs. It is soooo frustrating.2 -
This thread is fantastic it is helping loads. I have lost a stone since I begun and this has helped tons.
The need to eat is stronger now I have switched to healthier foods..getting enough in is a daily challenge in its own right.11 -

@DomCraigKing if your struggling to reach your daily calorie target then try including some 'unhealthy' foods. If you eat the foods you miss to try and lose weight then you'll start feeling like the diet it too much to stick with. A little bit of luxury will help you not feeling like youre missing out high tends to lead to a binge/blow out8 -
that you will spend so much energy trying to get a good poop in before weigh in day66

That losing weight doesn't mean you have to start eating flavorless, sad, tiny portions of skinless chicken breast, heaps of dry lettuce, and occasional 'treats' of fake-o sweetener egg-white only nothing cookies. That it's not about miracle packets of foil-wrapped astronaut-food sold by your neighbor or the trainer down the block, or about eliminating an entire category of macro-nutrients your body needs to run every day.
That I can eat a lunch most people would look at and never believe was part of a 'diet'--a big old plate of roasted Brussels sprouts, sweet potato wedges, and rotisserie chicken.
That it's really a lot less complicated than people try to make it. In the immortal words of John Hodgman, one of my favorite comedians (and schoolmate growing up), that I just needed to "stop eating so much *kitten*ing food."38 -

I just had a huge veggie burger with hickory and brown sugar bbq sauce and a giant heaping plate of green/yellow beans broccoli, potatoes and carrots. And it all clocks in at under 500 calories XD Dieting can be awesome indeed ;D16 -
I love flexible eating or IIFYM! It's all about calories and how much you control them unless you're a professional body lifter preparing for a show. Any food can be consumed as long as a good amount of protein, fats and carbs are consumed for restoring your muscles from the workouts.7

Thanks, I did think it unusual but it's been a while since I looked at it, wondering at advances in treatments perhaps as the life span has slowly increased over time.
Sorry though about your CFS and Fibro. You are writing some lovely responses to people btw, Cheers to you.8 -
Your body gets easier to shave.
Not even that i had any problems bending or reaching where i shaved before, Its just it seems everythign shaves easier...takes less time...and gets smoother. Which is weird because new dips (like in my armpits or behind knees) should make it harder XD11 -

Yes! To be honest though, those that couldn't give me the time of day as a heavier person really are not worth my time. It shows to me their true character. Maybe that sounds mean and I should be more forgiving?
Curious what others thought are. What does one say to a friend that hits on you After losing the weight. Wasn't negative or mean or anything prior just wanted to wait...
Hmm a part of me would feel a certain type of way.. I understand folks are attracted to what they are attracted to, but Man, I'd find it a bit hard to get past them waiting to find me good enough to hit on. Like no, no....if you couldn't like me then, then you can't even dream of the goodies now. Lol I can see it from both sides...
I don't think people wait for others to be good enough to hit on, or that its all about the weight. My weight has changed, but so has my confidence and demeanor. Besides, that's how a good relationship starts - friends for a good while first, then more. Just because it coincides with your weight loss doesn't imply the attraction was caused by the weight loss.
I have a question for the first lady. Was that person overweight or normal weight? I am overweight and I can understand why someone who goes to the trouble to live a healthy lifestyle might not be attracted to me unless I lost weight. It's like a boring man wanting an exciting woman. Why would she be interested. I feel if I can't bring to the table as much as the other person that is all on me. I have had friends who were in much better shape than me, but I didn't expect it, and would have understood had they not been interested. I also honestly believe that our attitude as fat people can push people away. My sister is fat and she is so friendly, and interested in others that everyone loves her. I once thought that everyone in my family loved my husband more than me. I decided to treat everyone as if I thought they were as happy to see me as I was them. Came to find out that it was my attitude that was the problem, not theirs. When people are heavy they sometimes not only expect rejection, but bring it on with a defensive attitude. I know this from experience, Good luck to you.21
