Changes...
The first part of this month I decided to start focusing on strength training, getting fit, and eating enough. I was getting no where trying to eat super low-cal and doing intense cardio. The scale hasn't changed much, maybe down a pound, although this month was the first time in I don't know how many years I didn't gain…

It's working for me!
A month ago I decided to try the eat more concept. At that time I also ended up hurting rib muscles in the gym and I have not been able able to exercise. I was really nervous about eating more and not being able to exercise. But after a couple of weeks I started seeing the scale go down. I have been over in my calories of…

What about little exercise?
My situation is that due to an extensive commute my daily routine includes little exercise (which kinda sucks atm...). Anyone else dealing with that and how has it affected your progress? About 2 days a week I do about 20 min kettlebell (swings with 30 lb weight and building up) and abs/core work, but that is about all I…

Help me decide if I am sedentary, light???
A little background- I was on the 1200 calorie a day diet. Then after reading NROLFW, I upped my calories to 1350 then 1460. According to every calculator I can find, my BMR is 1250. Now is the confusing part for me. Do I choose 'sedentary' life since I do not have an active job? And then just eat more on my workout days?…

Progress Report - Eating More Works!!
March 1, 2012 I decided to start eating. For the prior 6 months, I followed MFP guidelines for a 2 pound weight loss per week and, as I got closer to my goal weight, changed to MFPs guidelines for losing 1 pound weight loss per week. During that time, I typically ate a net of 1000 calories per day mainly due to intense…

Guidance please!
I am just starting to learn about this eating more to lose more business. I've been doing 1200, burning a ton, and then eating back. I am not losing, breaking out all over, and very tired. So I knew something was up. After research on here and talking with some of you doing it awhile, I am realizing I need to eat more.…

So after upping cals, how do you know if you're right??
So after upping calories, how do you know if you're at the right number? I've read all about the fact that my body might need to adjust for a while and I've given it about 3 weeks so far. I'm willing to give it more weeks though for sure! What I'm wondering is, how do you figure out whether or not you're just eating too…

Eating more without going over my sodium intake?
I've increased my calories to 1500 and I'm eating more clean foods, less processed stuff. But I'm noticing that even in the homemade stuff, there's still lots of sodium. Less than processed of course but still a big amount. So how do you all manage to eat more calories without going over your daily limit of sodium?? ETA:…

Do you do cardio as well as lift?
I just started NROLFW last Monday. Prior to that, I had been doing low cal and just cardio & pilates. I didn't do any cardio last week and I miss it. My question is, if you do cardio, do you do it on your non-lift days or lift days? Does it matter? Do you eat back your cardio calories? (On a side note- I feel better than…

Upping cals, weight drops at first, then nothing :(
Hi guys. I've been upping cals slowly since December and each time I do, my weight will start to drop at first (and I get all excited) but then inevitably it will go back up. Now I'm 5# heavier than when I started MFP. Do you think this is a sign that I need to go even higher or am I simply overeating at this point?? ETA:…

I have some questions :)
I am trying to wrap my head around all of this and have read the stickied posts a few times..I guess I am just not good with numbers..who knows! Do I have this correct, you can either eat your BMR plus your exercise calories..in which case you would adjust your mfp net calories to your bmr?? Or you can eat your TDEE and…

HELP! Is this even possible???????
Ok I have been cleaning like a crazy woman this morning and opps, TTOM came along. Well I knew it was near and yesterday when I weighed in I figured I had some water weight as I always seem to right before my TOM. Just out of curiosity sake, I jumped on the scale.... it said 112.5lbs! THATS 4.5 lbs less?? Well, i didn't…

Activity level for calculating TDEE
Hello all! I have really enjoyed reading the messages on this group, and was wondering if I could ask for your opinion... I would like to calculate my TDEE (there was a nice spreadsheet circulating a while ago), but to do so, must multiply my BMR by an "activity" factor - but I am not sure what would be appropriate for me!…

Eating my TDEE but not hitting my BMR
Hi everyone I think I'm gonna try and give this eating more a go. At the moment I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of the New Weightlifting Rules for Women by post, and have been busy calculating TDEE and BMR. I'm just about eating enough (ish) total TDEE calories (-15%) but I'm falling a few hundred short of the BMR of…

Terrifed...but here I go!
Hi Everyone! I'm new to this group. I upped my calories this weekend to 1500, and I know that doesn't sound super high...but it's nearly triple of my caloric intake from 18 months ago. I've struggled with eating disorders pretty much my whole life, and have decided that I'm finally ready to say goodbye to that part of my…

Friends
Hi everyone. I have a few friends here on MFP, all of them are people I know from somewhere else. The only problem is all of them are set at about 1200 cal. Many of them do heavy-duty cardio to burn lots of cals so they can eat more. Some of them don't exercise at all. And some of those are averaging about 900 net a day,…

Which BMR???
3 different sites = 3 different BMRs MFP gives me 1771 http://health.discovery.com/centers/heart/basal/basal.html gives me 1818.5 http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ gives me 1826.62 I'm not quite sure which to use as my baseline...

Thankful
I just wanted to say that I am SOOOOOO thankful I found this group. I took the advice here and started eating at my BMR. I began to really focus on strength training and less so on cardio, although I still like to get in at least 5 miles a week, and I have finally broken my plateau (sp?) I have lost 5 pounds and a total of…

My first 4 weeks....
So many people have been posting about struggling in the last few days I thought I would do a more detailed post about how my first 4 weeks went and hopefully someone will find it helpful. So overall I am down 1 pound. As much as I would have loved to see more I have to say its better than nothing because prior to this…

Eating calories back and when will weight respond?
Hello! When I started with MFP I was at 1200 but ate at least 1/2 of my calories back from excercise. I do bootcamp 5 days a week and burn any where between 500-800 calories per session (depending if 30 or 45 minutes long). I lost weight...lots, then hit a plateau. With research it look like I wasn't eating enough....back.…

Am I doing somthing wrong?
For the second week straight my weight hasnt budged, which is "ok" if other things were happening right? That being said, in the past 3 weeks I've lost 1'' off my waist and .5'' from my hips. That doesnt seem like a lot in almost a month. I have completed 3 successful weeks of "eating more". So atleast I'm not gaining…

Can we post underwear pics here?
Because OHMYGOODNESS, I just put a couple of backside pics in my underwear side-by-side, and I'm kinda stoked here! I have only lost 6 pounds in 5 months, and I have been wondering if maybe I should cut my calories some after all. Even though I try to keep my focus off the scale, and even though I'm feeling pretty good...I…

Just Finished Week 4 of Eating More and Lost 1 pound!
As the title says, I just finished week 4 of eating more calories and saw a 1 pound loss this week. Let me start by saying I lost all of my weight (52 pounds) by starving myself at 1,200 calories a day. I did the whole 'zig zag' method and didn't log weekends, thinking I was 'tricking' my metabolism into not getting stuck.…

Excited to be here, but scared to death like many....
I have just finished up my first week of "dieting". I thought I had been doing great, but as I was weighing each morning I was getting frustrated that I wasn't dropping more quickly. I am not new to yo-yo dieting and this is the heaviest I have EVER started. Considering my start weight and habits leading up to last week, I…

Ok What am I doing wrong.....
I slowly upped the cals over a 4wk period and I just upped them again to 1800 and I've been playing around with the same 1lb up 1lb down thing for the past few weeks....I was ok with this because I tried to look at it this way more food no real gain...so 2wks no movement this week .8 up - yup checked the measurements also…

But what if I never starved myself?
I see a lot of people are coming here after eating 1200 calories... Will this work for people who never ate a low cal diet? I've been exercising the past year after having my son, but have not been dieting.. Obviously I didn't lose any weight, actually I'm gaining. Will this work for me if I have a lousy diet to start off…
