Activity level if working desk job?
For those of you who work desk jobs and exercise regularly, what activity level do you choose on the Guided Setup? These are the options they give: Sedentary: Spend most of the day sitting (e.g. bank teller, desk job) Lightly Active: Spend a good part of the day on your feet (e.g. teacher, salesperson) Active: Spend a good…

Exercise - hockey question on duration
Hi, There is an ice hockey exercise preloaded (which I assume is just as good for roller hockey). However, as anyone who has ever watched or played hockey knows you are not out on the ice/rink the entire time. So assume a 50 minute game, you might only be out there for 20 minutes. So my question is, does the duration…

How to log exercise: using an ext. app!
Hi, I don’t use any of the apps that you can connect to here. I have two apps that I really love and have been loyal to, Down Dog yoga & their HIIT app. I just want to be able to log the time I spend on those apps — I can somewhat easily get my HIIT exercises logged here but I tend to do more yoga. I am not entirely…

Shin splints - push through or rest?
I started running within the last month or so. Usually only 3-4 days/wk, 3 miles per day. I've started to get shin splints and wondering if I should just push through the pain or take a longer break than just 1 or 2 days. I feel like I can push through the pain if the general consensus is "it won't harm you" but want to…

So you want to start running
I see questions about how to get started running pretty much daily here, so I thought I’d put together a bunch of information, all in one place. This will be general, and I’m sure that pretty much every point made here could be argued about on some level, but for beginners, this will all remain true. This is information to…

Shoulder/back exercises after a trapezius/neck injury
I strained my trapezius by doing overhead presses incorrectly , nothing serious just weakness in the shoulders if I do anything that engages the traps. I haven't been to the gym in over a month since the injury but it's not getting much better and I don't want to lose too much muscle. Doctor said I should be fine doing…

No, MFP, I am not walking a dog...
For some reason when I track my walks through MapMyFitness and it syncs with MFP, my walks get tracked with the comment that I'm walking a dog. I don't have a dog, I have not selected any options through either app that should suggest I am walking a dog. Is there any way I can convince MFP that I am just walking, sans…

Wondering
I found myself wondering today - why do we have items such as crumbl cookies available to people when they contain up to 900-1000 calories in one cookie? It's just so unnecessary! Couldn't they make smaller cookies of 100 calories each? It's in a way, setting people up for failure.

What is going on with the MFP calorie burn estimates?
Is anyone else getting outrageous outputs for calories burned when entering exercise information? Since MFP no longer downloads my exercise data from Fitbit, I have to manually enter exercise, but it keeps trying to tell me that I burned over 3000 calories just by walking 30 minutes, which is ridiculous.

Dancing
The type of fitness I use is dancing. I noticed it’s the only thing that doesn’t really make me lose motivation because it’s something I actually enjoy. The New FitBit connection method
This post shows a new way of integrating MFP data into FitBit. I don't currently have MFP connected to FitBit. I'm wondering what is the difference between this new method and using the FitBit app from MFP here.

HRM vs MFP calorie burn
I ran 10.15 miles today at a 9:30 pace. It took me 96 minutes. My Polar heart rate monitor showed I burned 720 calories. MFP doesn't have a 9:30 pace, so I chose the 10 minute mile pace (slower than I had run) and it said I burned 907 calories. That is a big difference to be off! I am going to rely on my HRM all the time.…

How many rest days between lifting?
So Normally I lift T/W, rest TH, lift F/S. However, I can't get my workout in on Friday. Yesterday I was supposed to rest but did some trail riding on my dirtbike (motocross) for about an hour. So it's either lift today bein a lil sore, or lift 3 days in a row, off Friday, lift Saturday. Lol advice?
