    Today's confession.

I brought up the stepdaughter thing with my husband yesterday because we haven't seen or heard from her since she graced us with her presence Monday, and it did not go well. I think I might be PMSing because I lost it. I yelled, said things I shouldn't have, then cried afterward. I felt bad because I started in on him basically as soon as he walked in the door. He told me he should have just stayed at work. I hate it when he says that.

Anyway, after both of us calmed down, he said that I need to let him handle things his way but he is going to talk to her. I will not be a part of that conversation which is best for everyone. He expressed that he doesn't feel like she's taking advantage of us because he's her dad and he would do the same for Rachael. He also said this is NOT how he pictured a life with her and he's very upset (sad) that she doesn't want to be in our circle (I laughed a little when he described our family as a circle).

I appreciate your positive thoughts and prayers because I don't want this to put a strain on our marriage especially when we leave for Florida in 15 days and we're getting ready to celebrate 15 years of marriage.

On a positive note, if I'm PMSing this early, that means my period is coming soon and I'll be done before my trip.

I hope he does talk to her and it all works out for your family! Is Rachael going on vacation with you and hubby?

Um, no. This is really like a belated honeymoon since we didn't have one the first time around. She's pretty peeved about not going, but I told her that I've waited 15 years for this so she'll just have to get over it. She's going later in July with my mom anyway, so it's not like she's not going to miss out. Really, the only things she'll miss out on are our incessant make out sessions, hand holding, and occasional (probably more on his part) butt grabbing/patting. I'm sure she's not at all sad about missing out on those things.

I hope things work out too because we REALLY do want her to be a part of our circle.

We got married last March - honeymoon was Maui in April. We were the only old people constantly making out in the pool at our resort. We had a very quiet beach at night. Let me just tell you this - sand doesn't give as much as you may think. Sex on the beach wasn't nearly as much fun as I thought it was going to be.

I don't plan on finding out. I'm a bit of a prude, so no hanky panky for us outside our room and most likely on the bed only. I'm quite boring. My poor, poor husband.

    This actually surprises me...

    Really?! Why?!

You don't at all seem boring or conservative. More fun loving. So I would assume that translates to all parts of your life. (Assuming you really were asking me and not just being tongue in cheek...sometimes it's hard to tell in here).

This is such a nice thing to say. I'm a very strange person. I'm EXTREMELY sarcastic, and I love to joke around and have fun. When it comes to intimacy though, I keep that private. I think part of that has to do with my childhood though and I'd rather not open that can right now. Let me just say this, my man is satisfied and he still, even after almost 17 years of being together, finds me desirable, even without me having to be overly sexual. He's always trying to get into my pants, or smacking my butt, or something. It's intensified since I've started working out. My daughter doesn't appreciate it as much as I do.

You can't ask for more that that!

I just dug out a dress of mine from last year and put it on to see if it was fit to bring to Punta Cana. I looked at myself in the mirror and felt ok... but I always feel like mirrors lie to me. I got out my new camera and took a VIDEO OF MYSELF standing in my dress to see what it looked like on camera. I have to say I'm pretty horrified by how terrible my arms look. Maybe with a tan my scars and such won't be as visible... man, those arms!! :confounded:

EDIT: NO. This is bad. I posted this and I told myself I need to stop hating on myself. So, to take back some damage.... I really like my dimples
EDIT2: I don't want to bring my glasses to the beach to get them lost or stolen while I'm swimming... and I don't wear contacts, so it looks like I might have a partially blind trip.

I'm sure you looked fine in the dress. And you DO have adorable dimples.

I went to the eye doctor Saturday to get contact specifically for my trip. I would recommend it unless you have a weird eye thing like Rachel did on Friends. They will, or should, sample you out a pair to get a feel for them.
Thank you very much, my dimples are one of the only things I like about myself. My brother also inherited them, but he hates them (I think he believes they take away from his manliness).

My boyfriend just suggested I take off my glasses to get used to not wearing them, but he said my eyes look smaller and more squinty without them. I don't think he was trying to be insulting, but I don't want small and squinty eyes!

I have dimples too. The one on my right side is bigger than the left.
I'm also in the dimples club. I have back dimples too, which I always thought were weird until I read that they're apparently desirable. Who knew.

I'm in the "I wish I had dimples" club

They're not dimples but I always wanted freckles :(

I used to get freckles across my nose and cheekbones when I went skiing. Only time ever and I didn't really understand it
That's the kind of freckles people imagine when they want them - a youthful sprinkle like that. I'm pretty much covered in freckles, which isn't such a desirable look!

My boyfriend is the same. Closest he really gets to a tan is if his freckles start joining up. But he's Welsh. They're not used to the sun there!

according to the dr....don't over anticipate that menopause thing to help with the period cravings, because when she seen me losing weight....she said that I better lose another 15 lbs to compensate for the "menopausal gain" that is soon to come. My confession is that with very good intentions, I will log out of the diary early and call it a successful done day. THEN.....I eat late and don't add to my diary. keeps all of yall wondering why I am always "under my daily calorie goal" and yet I haven't lost weight in quite some time. SAWRREEEEEE

Last night, I couldn't sleep and I was feeling pretty depressed, and I ended up writing rather than sleeping. As I mentioned before, I often use poetry to express emotions, so I wrote a new poem. I don't feel that I can share it on Wattpad; it's too personal and I also feel that it's a little too dark for the atmosphere I try to maintain there. But I figured (well, I hope anyway...) nobody would mind if I shared it here, and some might be able relate to it. :)
    Broken
Sometimes I think my body’s like
    A hollow husk of skin
The pieces inside like scattered shards
    Of glass; piercing me within

They’re the thoughts that ravage me
That tear at my heart, my soul
Until I feel there’s nothing left
    But bloody, ragged holes

They’re the emotions; the ones that choke
Like a damp blanket on my face
I gasp, I panic, I try to breathe
But all my effort goes to waste

It’s the dread that follows me
As I go about my day
It haunts and whispers nasty things
And it just won’t go away

I cut my fingers as I try so hard
    To reconnect those broken shards
With a glue of hope, of life and love
And hope for healing with no scars

Sometimes the pain is just too much
And I run off to hide awhile
To cry a little, lick my wounds
And not have to fake a smile

I take refuge in the arms of the one I love
For him I’ll keep trying my all
He’s always there to soothe the hurt
And to catch me when I fall

He deserves to have the best
So even as I sob and wish to die
I get up and keep going through the dark
Praying for my tears to one day dry

So back I go to try again
Maybe today will be the day
As long as there’s life in this broken shell
Faith in God will lead the way
    14/06/15

This is beautiful and so sad too. I really hope one day you are able to put those pieces together.

Still waiting to catch the woman at the barn that is a counselor. She hasn't been back since her dog died. :( But her horse is still there so she will show up eventually!

This is me. I have worn contacts since I was like 14 or 16. They are the first thing that comes out when I get home. They don't bother me during the day, but the second I get home they MUST come out!

    I confess...

It's 10 PM and I had a ton of calories left, even after dinner, because I didn't have much of an appetite today. I decided to have something desserty, but we only had vanilla ice cream in the freezer. Plain vanilla isn't really worth the calories to me, although it's nice... So then I had an idea: I got 10 grams of peanut butter, and spread it in a thin layer over the walls of a tiny ice cream bowl, then served the ice cream on top of it. Then, with each bite, I scraped a little peanut butter off the wall of the bowl. Mmmmm, so good.

And then, I STILL had a ton of calories left, so I made a mock peanut butter milkshake. That was so good too.

...I really love peanut butter.
I'm the weirdo whose favourite flavour of ice cream is vanilla.

I love vanilla too. Although, now that I've discovered Ben & Jerry's Half Baked, I would say that's my new fave.

If you like peanut butter they also have a Peanut Butter Half Baked that is good.

I saw that one and something with peanut butter cookies. Or is that the same thing?! I'm new to the whole array of gourmet ice cream flavors.

I had B&J's Salted Caramel Core last night, the one with blondies in it. Not impressed. I'm not a fan of blondies anyway. (Who wants a blondie when you could have a brownie?) I am going to be stalking the stores looking for more The Tonight Dough. In case you can't read the description, "Caramel & Chocolate Ice Cream with Chocolate Cookie Swirls & Gobs of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough & Peanut Butter Cookie Dough." Drooly, drool, drool!

    rn7cgo5i9ypf.png

    1) Salted Caramel is my lifeblood.

    2) I don't have the option to eat chocolate, so that may have something to do with it.

I bought the vanilla and lemon cake Halo Top! The pints are SUPER lightweight. It's kind of weird. They're also $$$. :/

They were $4.99 at Wegmans, which isn't too bad.. I mean expensive enough that it's not going to be an every day thing obviously, but at least it's not $6.99 like some other ones I've seen. Haven't checked Whole Foods yet.

Sometimes when I'm really hungry and I'm with other people I stop listening to them talk and fantasize about my next meal

I've had to rewind some TV shows I was watching at night because I kept thinking about my breakfast the next morning and wasn't paying attention at all...

That's definitely cheaper than the Jeni's at $12.00 a pint.

I wish stores around me carried Gelato Fiacso.

Today is my anniversary and I confess that I am sad that this means I won't be able to go on my weekly bike ride with my girls bike group.

My husband is the best about anniversaries, birthdays, etc. Last year, he had the high school art teacher help him make me a soup bowl. It says "Soup for my Soulmate". I love it! I tell myself every year I'm going to start shopping early and find him the perfect gift. It never happens. I ended up buying him a ceramic statue at the garden center. He deserves so much better!
Awwe, that's so sweet. Yours sounds like a great gift too.
My husband has got better at gifts over the years, but I have had some real doozies (set of home phones for my 40th, for example :| ). I've got much better at saying "For my birthday, if you'd like to get me a present, I'd really love X". Or I tell my daughter. She's very good at relaying 'hints' and he's relieved because he can get something he knows I'll like.

My husband is amazing at picking gifts for me. I, on the other hand, am the worst gift giver on the planet. Seriously. I always default to perfume because I just can't think of anything else... Even if I know the person really well! :-/ I'm just really, really bad at it. :(

Shoot you'd be my best friend! I LOVE scents, that's typically what I ask for around birthday/Christmas- You can never have too much Tory Burch!!

    Edited for spelling :s

Do you own any of her flats? If so, are they comfy?

My biggest designer regret was buying Joe Jeans, because the butt got extremely saggy. Luckily I bought them at www.6pm.com & didn't pay full retail.

I give way too much money to 6pm.com :/ And yes I have two pairs of her flats and they're comfy - I love all her stuff!

I have a bonus from work so maybe I'll buy a pair of flats:D. Some have said the gold plates on the top hurt your feet. Do they bother you at all? Also are they true to size?

The only two things I've bought on 6pm so far are a pair of Joes jeans & AG jeans.

Another place I usually look for cheaper designer jeans is BHFO on eBay. I've bought J. Brand & AG jeans on there. I did download Posh Mark on my iPad, but I usually can't tell the difference with real & fake & would hate to waste my money & buy something fake.

I wish TJMAXX would hurry up & open their store that's closer to me.

    Hrm, not sure?

I also like their Speculoos Cookie Butter core & their Peanut Butter Cookie core is alright but I got sick of it on a bad binge day.

I am going to try to give up ice cream for awhile until I can learn how to moderate it again.

I confess that today I am actually meal prepping for the week & just made up a weeks worth of brown rice & thin spaghetti pasta. I think I'll use the rice for lunch & put some kind of salmon/tuna in it & supplement with a salad & the pasta eat some kind of meat with it & put parmesan on it since I'm not a huge sauce fan anymore.

My confession is my wife dragged me to the store for a wardrobe upgrade on Saturday...and I enjoyed every minute of it! (4+ hours.)

After years of bargain XL shirts and 38" dockers, there is something awfully gratifying about trying on M slim-fit work shirts, and 32 x 32 work slacks - and having them fit great. Also picked up some new shorts, T-shirts, running shoes (sweet Nike Free 4.0 Flyknits - so comfortable!)

Then going through my closet & getting rid of some thrashed work pants, L T-shirts that billow on me....I now understand where the term Retail Therapy comes from, lol
I don't think anything boosts the self-esteem more than trying on and fitting into smaller sizes, and realising they actually look great!

    You go Glen Coco!

The last line of this post is why I wish you were my mom, SO COOL LADY!
Haha! It's unavoidable in my house. Anyone picking anyone else up in the car is required to shout "Get in loser, we're going shopping". We're all actually fluent in movie quotes. They come and go, but since last night was a re-watch of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, today there's lots of London slang and "It's been emotional"s.
Me and my boyfriend just use random quotes that probably no one else knows about. For example there is a show here, not sure if you've seen it (or you may have seen the older one they did before) where they've followed people who were giving birth around the new year 2000. They show it every few years to see how the kids are growing up and developing differently. I actually really love this show and now want to know when it'll be on next. They'll be 15 now! But one year when they were about 5 or 6 they were showing them logos and one of the kids said 'i've been to tesco', in quite a sing-song way, when shown the logo for a large supermarket. We now never, ever make a trip to tesco without announcing 'i've been to tesco'.

I now feel super uncool compared to you with your lock stock quotes...
I think I might have heard of that -my son was born in 2000 so it rings a bell - I thought at first you meant the 'x Up' programmes. I've been following those for years and years, and recently watched 56 Up. What a fascinating experiment that is - really revolutionary for the its time. Is this other one similar?

Yes, it's called child of our time, and was the same thing as the 7 up etc ones (I think basically a remake for the new millennium). Are the original ones on you tube or something then? I've watched child of our time from the beginning, but I'm too young for the others, although I didn't realise they were still going. I'd love to go back and watch them as well, I find them so fascinating.
It's on Netflix here. Can't find it on Youtube here but here's the trailer.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5C-u7reHIWs
For anyone reading and wondering what we're talking about, it's a TV documentary that started in 1964 with a bunch of 7 year old children who were interviewed about their lives, aspirations etc. They've been followed every 7 years since, and are now 56 years old. It's really fascinating, and sometimes very surprising, to see how their lives have panned out (very diverse backgrounds - orphanages to very financially privileged kids).

Fun fact: here it's called TK MAXX (not really that fun a fact...) They also don't seem to have as much good stuff. In America they seem to have proper cut price designer items, here it seems to be cheaper, but I think a lot of the stuff are labels I've never heard of they have made for them.

Wish I'd watched it on Netflix when I was over there instead of trying and failing to get into friends again (sorry @LBuehrle8 - I know that's very offensive to you!). Anyone over there with Netflix you should definitely give it a go. I'm sure you'd also enjoy the variety of regional British accents.

I always wondered about that. In Canada it's called Winners. I rarely have the patience to shop there - I find it a bit of a jumble/rummage sale.

Last night, I couldn't sleep and I was feeling pretty depressed, and I ended up writing rather than sleeping. As I mentioned before, I often use poetry to express emotions, so I wrote a new poem. I don't feel that I can share it on Wattpad; it's too personal and I also feel that it's a little too dark for the atmosphere I try to maintain there. But I figured (well, I hope anyway...) nobody would mind if I shared it here, and some might be able relate to it. :)
    Broken
Sometimes I think my body’s like
    A hollow husk of skin
The pieces inside like scattered shards
    Of glass; piercing me within

They’re the thoughts that ravage me
That tear at my heart, my soul
Until I feel there’s nothing left
    But bloody, ragged holes

They’re the emotions; the ones that choke
Like a damp blanket on my face
I gasp, I panic, I try to breathe
But all my effort goes to waste

It’s the dread that follows me
As I go about my day
It haunts and whispers nasty things
And it just won’t go away

I cut my fingers as I try so hard
    To reconnect those broken shards
With a glue of hope, of life and love
And hope for healing with no scars

Sometimes the pain is just too much
And I run off to hide awhile
To cry a little, lick my wounds
And not have to fake a smile

I take refuge in the arms of the one I love
For him I’ll keep trying my all
He’s always there to soothe the hurt
And to catch me when I fall

He deserves to have the best
So even as I sob and wish to die
I get up and keep going through the dark
Praying for my tears to one day dry

So back I go to try again
Maybe today will be the day
As long as there’s life in this broken shell
Faith in God will lead the way
    14/06/15

This is beautiful and so sad too. I really hope one day you are able to put those pieces together.

Still waiting to catch the woman at the barn that is a counselor. She hasn't been back since her dog died. :( But her horse is still there so she will show up eventually!

I'm so glad @pofoster21 reads backwards, otherwise I would have missed this in my attempts to catch up. This is beautiful @Susieq_1994

I got very distracted with some truffles. Just the pictures and descriptions. The only sweet I care for at all is dark chocolate. Fine. Dark. Chocolate. I saw a truffle called Naked Hottie Fudge Truffle. One called Blame Canada. One called E=mc^2. Must get back to work. I have another mini-vacation coming up this Friday - Tues and need to get stuff done. Chocolate.

Yeah, that other fudge one sounds more appealing to me, but then I prefer milk chocolate, so I'm probably not invited to your party, which sounds awesome, by the way.
ETA, although if I were invited I'd be tempted to make both Bailey's and Champage truffles.

Yum!!! Come on over with your truffles!
I'm excited. It is the first event that "we've" done and he's planning most of it based around the chocolate/wine pairings. I think it will be just 4 or 5 of us (my daughter is trying to join for the chocolate and the food if her father will let her. It is her father's scheduled day so I doubt she will be able to join us.) SO's house is situated where several fireworks shows can be seen from his pool (ok, I find that freaking wonderful) and there will be plentiful good eats because the reason I'm here is I'm dating a foodie and I put on 2 - 3 lbs after a year of dating him. The other couple he invited (and it could end up being three other couples) are close friends of his and very nice people.

Confession: I am having a hard time finding time to make women friends. I moved here for grad school and made great friends. They all took jobs all over the country and world. They are still great friends, just far away. My three best friends from before grad school live in three different states. I have 1 - 2 evenings or weekend days a month that I could do things and would love to do things to slowly build friendships here. I've tried (and will keep trying) meetup.com but so far, while I've had a nice time and even joined a kickball league I've not meet anyone to even start slowly building a friendship. I work in a male dominated field and have some guy friends but I'm missing women friends and as I am in a serious committed relationship am not really looking to hang out with other men.

Edit - I don't know what I did to the quotes...

Over the weekend, mostly Saturday, I spent an excessive amount of time trying on dresses to take to Florida, because I've somehow convinced myself that wearing them as opposed to shorts and tanks would be easier or whatever. Anywho, one of the places I went was Maurices and I must have tried on 12 dresses and a couple shirts. I ended up with one shirt and very low self-esteem (the ginormous bruise on leg didn't help). I didn't fare much better at Target, where I'm sure I tried on just as many (although I did buy a dress and a skirt), Dress Barn (found one dress but it's too nice to be a beach dress I think), or Old Navy (bought 2 tanks that I LOVE).

I have very broad shoulders and now that I've been working out, they are more muscular. I didn't think it would be so damn hard to find summer dresses, but it's been close to impossible and I more or less have given up looking for anything else and will just make due with the few things I found and the things I already had.

Side note: My oh so sweet and wonderful husband has questionable taste when it comes to dresses. I was frightened by some of his choices.

Maybe he is trying to tell you he wants to see you in something like that. Just how questionable are we talking here??

Just ugly mostly, weird shapes and/or patterns, or sheer. I looked for some pictures of some but I couldn't find any. Most of the really bad ones I refused to try on, but some he just would not give up, so I humored him. Needless to say, I didn't bother buying any of the questionable ugly ones.

Maybe you could find some of the shirts or dresses with the crochet trim. Some of those are cute and he might like them too.

    *Runs out to find this*

    Wait for me.

That's definitely cheaper than the Jeni's at $12.00 a pint.

I wish stores around me carried Gelato Fiacso.

Did you hear about Jeni's ice cream in Columbus, Ohio? I think it's only affected the ice cream here but I'm not 100% sure!

They don't bother me! And yes I'm typically a size 7 and that's what I bought but we have a Nordstrom and Nordstrom rack near so I don't have to buy her shoes offline. The perfume I have my SO buy as his sister get a huge discount :)

I've never bought anything from 6pm except shoes!

Back in the office after that mind-numbing continuing ed seminar. Ugh. Think I passed the test though; we'll see in about 3-4 weeks. (Really? It's 2015, and we're still waiting WEEKS for test results? Whatevs.)

Haha no offense taken but I can't understand how one cannot get into Friends! @Mohousdon did you see this?!

Yeah, I feel like we talked a lot about this 100 years ago upthread. It does get harder to make friends as you get older. I think people get set in their ways and happy with whatever little circle they have. I have my sister and the rest of the family, and we're all pretty close, plus one best friend and her family, and then another circle of people who I like a lot and will chat to for ages in the grocery store, but we don't hang out, despite always saying we should. I wouldn't have a clue how to go about making new friends now.

"A delicious, handmade maple dark chocolate fudge truffle sprinkled with turbinado sugar. This product is gluten, corn syrup and preservative free! 5 truffles per box."

I know the feeling @nonoelmo ! The few girlfriends I had moved out of state. I've always been able to get along with guys better than girls but I do miss having close girlfriends. I think that's what draws me to this thread since IRL I have no close friends who are girls near me except my sister and I don't get to see her very often as our schedules conflict :(

I can't handle glasses 24/7. I primarily wear contacts and then pop them out the minute I get home from work! B) I've been wearing contacts for 19 years so I can take them out put them in no problem.

This is me. I have worn contacts since I was like 14 or 16. They are the first thing that comes out when I get home. They don't bother me during the day, but the second I get home they MUST come out!

Haha I'm exactly that way too! During the day I don't even think about them but once home I'm not completely comfortable until I've taken my rinse off shower, put on my sweats, and taken out my contacts!
Nobody's mentioned the need to remove their bra the minute they walk through the door, so I guess that's just me then..?

I used to... now I don't care that much anymore. I still frequently change into PJs at 5pm or something though... which has been embarrassing a couple times when people showed up unexpectedly.

Haha no definitely not just you! That's part of putting on the sweats phase- boy shorts, sweat pants, and a baggy t-shirt, no bra ! It's a really hot look let me tell you

Back in the office after that mind-numbing continuing ed seminar. Ugh. Think I passed the test though; we'll see in about 3-4 weeks. (Really? It's 2015, and we're still waiting WEEKS for test results? Whatevs.)

Haha no offense taken but I can't understand how one cannot get into Friends! @Mohousdon did you see this?!

I did now. I can't make that make sense in my brain.
