Leaner/ repeat from general fitness, just wanted a different angle
Ok, used to be 400lbs, lost a bunch. Bought a hand held BIA. Omron 306cHBF. I know they are not super accurate. At 192lbs I had a BF of 15.5 per BIA, Dexa'd 2 days later at 12.7. Unfortunately not fasted, water only, but that will throw off a dexa. That was 2 years ago. Actually Dexa'd at 9.6, same machine 1 year later at…

Maintenance studies
Interesting studies that show hormonal shifts after a year of maintenance. Lines up with what many people say about it getting easier after a year. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26976129 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/31042670

How do you determine your ideal weight
Hi guys, at the first of August, at 5'8'', I weighed in at 189 during my annual physical. My doc told me he wanted me at 175 when I get my flu shot in September and 150 when he would see me again for a check up. He recommended no radical changes in diet, and strongly advised against dad diets like Atkins or Paleo, but just…

No snacks? Seriously?
In the last week, I've read two posts that claimed to have snack free eating habits. How does one even do that for a day? I've got crackers and cheese, grapes, oranges, Annies bunny cookies, sometimes (don't go there...lol). I do about 300 calories a day for snacks out of my 2250 allotment.

Home Cooks: Does intuitive eating work for you?
This post is targeted to people who cook most or all of their meals at home, mostly from scratch. I've heard it said before that eating mostly homecooked meals correlates somewhat strongly with maintaining a healthier weight. At first I was a little skeptical -- I cook almost all my meals at home, from base ingredients…

What body and health changes can I expect entering into maintennance?
I am 26, 133 lbs., down from 200 lbs. about 1.5 years ago. I have been restricting calories since February 2018 with some maintenance days sprinkled in, as well as a 3 month plateau from May 2019-July 2019. My goal is to be around 125 lbs. or whenever I feel comfortable before I start bulking, as I still have excess…

A long struggle
First of all, I've been a long time user of MFP but have lost the details to my old account. Alas, I was looking for some help. I started using MFP in Jan 2015. From around 105kg, I went down to 70kg by December that year, so BMI 38 to precisely 25. Since then, I've lost another 14kg, hence I'm around 56kg and I'm probably…

Need a non-gym 15 minute workout
I’ll have 15 minutes at a park to workout between school drop offs: is there an app or workout channel that you would recommend? My goal is just to feel healthy, so muscle building, stretching or cardio would all fit that criteria. Thank you!

To do maintenance calories or not?
Hi everyone! I have lost 30 lbs since January and have been eating 1,870 calories/day since January as directed by MFP when I started this journey. I have had the mindset this whole time of letting my body do what it does naturally and I felt when my body hit a weight it should be at, that my weight loss would slow or…

Scared of maintainence
Hi all, have lost about 90 pounds this past year. I’ve never eaten e exercise calories. I can’t imagine getting on the scales and it not going down. That’s going to feel like a failure. I’m basically at my goal weight, although with my bmi at 22, there is room to healthily lose more. This past month I’ve lost 11 pounds.…

Ending a Cut
Hello! Since July 1 I’ve been in a cut where I went from 113 pounds to 109 pounds. I will be going to Columbia for about nine days and would like to know the best way to revert back to maintenance calories. My trip is in 11 days. As a sidenote, should I go over my calories during this trip, should I be concerned? My…

Carrying calories over from prior week
I recently started maintenance. I linked my Charge 3 to MFP with "Negative Calorie Adjustments" enabled. In the last couple of weeks, at the end of the week I've had a few hundred calories leftover. It doesn't happen all the time. Do any of you carry over "below weekly goal calories" to next week? I was thinking maybe to…

Net Carbs Math
Now that I am transitioning to maintenance I am going to be putting more focus on net carbs and not total carbs. While I understand its total minus fibre, what I am not sure of is how to handle a food with zero carbs, but it has fibre (konjac rice and noodles). I eat this food four or five times a week, so I want to be…

If there was ONE thing about maintenance you would share with everyone...
what would you tell them. Me, I have been maintaining since Sept or Oct 2017 so this is the viewpoint from only about 19 or 20 months in. Others who are just starting or are longer down the road may have different ideas so please share length of time in maintenance and your one BIG takeaway if you have one. I would say for…

Weigh-in goals
Hey maintainers. What do you guys hope to see on the scale when you weigh in? Whether you weigh in daily or weekly, are you simply hoping to see a number that is within your maintenance range or do you have more strict goals that you follow? For example, is your range 145-150 lbs but hope to see a daily fluctuation…
