Anyone like to guess my maintenance cals?
Hi all - I've lost about 6kg fairly quickly (approx 11 weeks) and have another 5 to go. I'm normally quite sedentary (counsellor, light exercise 3 or so times a week) but right now I am able to do light exercise every day for about an hour total and slightly less sedentary. In June that'll all change again to maybe 3 light…

Is this normal..........
I got up my usual time and weighted in my usual way after the bathroom and no clothes. Then I laid back down for a few more winks well I woke up three hours later and just for the heck of it weighed myself again ( no bathroom break) and I was 2 pounds lighter. This also happened a few weeks ago when I got 3 hours later…

Anyone accept a weight that wasn't their "ultimate goal"?
I had a baby 18 months ago and pre-baby I was 134 and a size 4 (I'm 5'6''). I was really happy at that weight but I worked out a lot, cycled 100miles a week and weight lifted 3-4x a week. I have been maintaining at about 140 for a year and I'm now a size 6 or 8. My diet is similar, 1600-1800 calories a day (I use a food…

Anyone in long term maintenance? share your stories :-)
After seeing a zombie thread resurrected from 2009 recently, it made me wonder how many of those posters back then lost the weight they aimed for and kept it off and are possibly still here on MFP today... So please share how long you folks have been at maintenance and how are you finding it. Me? In July I will be…

Body Recomp??
Looking for some advice. I'm 5ft9 and 136 lbs. I'm thinking I need body recomp but not really sure. I've been eating at maintenance. Which I'm not even sure where to put myself for that honestly. Am I lightly active? Active? Maybe even sedentary? I'm a stay at home mom. My real question though involves "cardio". I'm doing…

Gained weight after 5 years of maintenance
I recently gained back 15lbs after 6 years of maintaining around 170lbs (30yo Woman 5'10", was ~210 for about 10 years) and am finding it very difficult to get back to 170. I've been upping my exercise and adding more fiber and protein to my diet, but the weight doesn't seem to budge. Has anyone else had experience with…

Unable to diet
Well this probably isn't too surprising, but after a week of doing nothing and eating a high carb high sugar diet, I gained some weight (about four pounds if that is possible). I was dieting up until six months ago, and have gained five pounds (on top of the four pounds) since then, probably due to life style changes, and…

Light Petites Maintaining on 2000+ Calories...?
Women under 5'4" and under 120 lbs, would you please share your workout/exercise routines? I'm working to change my routine more regularly, so I am looking into new workouts. Yes, I do realize CO vary per individual, but I'd like some fresh ideas and a starting point. I did skim through that "5’2 females, how are you…

Binge eating
I tried to control my food intake during the weekdays and have 1 day of mindless eating. I love dessert so much and not having them make me grumppy.

HUNGER!!
So I've reached my fat loss goal. Hooray! I'm reverse dieting and I have been slowly creeping my calories up week by week to find maintenance. I'm hungrier than ever! I was never this hungry when my calories were low. My workouts have been more intense and I'm lifting heavier so could that be it? What's going on?

Do you plan on counting calories your whole life in order to maintain?
just curious

Does it get easier?
I am still really new to maintenance. I have been for a while experiencing hunger/ food preoccupation. I am actually by my charts in about a 80-120 cal surplus at this time, trying to restore some body weight. I am just wondering, does this ever go away? I lost 220lbs, so I know my BF set point is very high. I am just…

eating way too much junk/sweets
Since I have been in maintenance (just a couple of weeks), I am filling the extra calories (they seem like extra because I was eating less while losing) with cookies, ice cream and candy more than good food. I eat lean proteins - fish and poultry. I don't eat mammal meat. I do need to eat more veggies; I haven't been…

What was your finish line mindset?
i come here because you guys have made it - and walk the walk. As you approached your last 5 or ten pounds... what was your thought process on seeing your goal through to the end and beyond? I'm nearing my goal of losing 40 pounds. i have the last five or 6 to go. i'm at the point where i'm telling myself to just finish…

New to maintenance
I've lost about 20Kg in the last year or so and am pretty much at my goal weight. I've always struggled to maintain my goal weight and find I slip back into bad habits very easily. I exercise quite a lot and stick to a 1600 calorie limit during the week, but all bets are off at the weekend :# I was finding it hard to…

Thyroid meds dose reduction in weight maintenance
I've been on varying doses of levothyroxine for 25 years. I've been stable on my dosage for probably 6/7 years. I've been experiencing more nervousness and I've been eating way above the normal calories for my age/height/weight in the last couple years. I've been thinking it may be levo-related, and last week I had labs…

What to eat?
I've been losing and gaining back the same 7 pounds for about a year. I need your help with an eating plan. As my bad leg doesn't permit me to move very much, I will have to mostly rely on changes to my food intake. Lunch is my biggest meal and it is usually healthy. It's breakfast, dinner and snacks that I will need to…

Silly question
This is a silly question so please bare with me. Can I tone up while eating 260 calories of ice cream daily if the rest of my diet is clean, I eat 1g protein/pound and weightlift 4 times a week while eating at maintenance? I love ice cream and fit it into my CICO as I walk a long distance to work which buys me the…

Weight Gain on This Meal Plan - Help?
Hi! One week ago, I weighed myself and the scale read 114.8. I am 5'5 and 19 years old. I was eating very little before, and I wanted to test the waters to see if I could eat a tad bit more to maintain my weight (only 150 calories more). I weighed myself today and my weight was 118.2. I am sedentary and this is what I have…

Creeping weight gain
So after going from 280 to 150 in 2013/14 I've been able to maintain my weight for years. This year, I've upped my activity and added some cardio to my daily workouts. Suddenly, I'm gaining weight while eating the same thing I have for years! I don't understand this. I was hoping to be able to add some back in or be less…

How accurate was calorie MFP's estimate for you? Was it low or high if inaccurate?
I set mine to 0 and I have a sedentary (office) job. I am 5'8", 59 and weigh 162. It is giving me 1910. I am also starting to log my walking. I walk a lot; averaging near 5000 per day for the year, but over 10000 per day last week as I have been ramping up and we have more daylight. I am only logging about 2/3 of the…

Oh dear, fell off the snack control wagon
Will power vanished today... kept going back for another serving of pretzels at work, came home and ate some dark chocolate chips by the handful...... My only excuse is that I had such a debilitating headache where I was checking the clock until it was time to take more medicine, and unfortunately I work in lab with…

I didn't even get to start Maintenance and I'm already struggling...
I went on vacation last weekend. I planned on pretty much having lots of good yummy food I haven't had in ages. I was okay with that. Got back on plan the following week and did great. Then for some reason... I went nuts this weekend. All we did was stay home, but I had the need to snaaaaaaack and I snacked bad. I even got…

To cut or to maintain?
Hi guys! I've just started to track my calorie intake like 3 months ago so I'm pretty new here. I lost about 14 kgs in a year just by working out and not paying much attention to calories and all, but I stayed at the same weight for a year without any progress so I got a FitBit, started to track my calories and it brought…

Any change to fat distribution during maintenance?
...I know, my vanity is clutching at straws here :) I've lost 207 lb so far and will be moving into maintenance in another 17 or so. What I've noticed is that my body will do literally anything rather than burn fat below the waist; my upper body currently looks almost gaunt, with such protruding collarbones that I can hook…

Calorie Tracking
Hey All, quick question. My girlfriend has been using one of those online calorie calculators to get an estimate of her calorie burns when she does cardio. However, we’ve noticed that these calculators indicate that when she weighs less, she burns more calories. We tested them, and if the settings are set on a woman, it…
