Approaching maintenance with positive trepidation
I’ve been quietly losing weight gained following being bed bound after an accident. I’m a misery and boredom eater and I as both for an extended period. My start weight was 103kg and now I’m a couple of kilos away from my target of 82.5kg (188cm male). My aim is to maintain in the range of 80-85kg. Historically, I’m really…

Has anybody continued to track every single thing they eat even after reaching their goal weight?
I’ve seen amazing progress by tracking, 8.2 pounds down in a month, but I wonder how sustainable it’d be to do this forever. Has anyone had success tracking for years?

Keeping the weight off
I am back again for round number 4. I'm about 6 months into it, and down about 45 lbs. Losing weight is not the hard part for me. Keeping it off is. I quit logging calories for one reason or another and little, by little put the weight back on. I have a healthy diet. That isn't my problem. I eat whole foods almost…

A quick note of encouragement for maintainers
I haven't posted in years, but wanted to drop in and give some encouragement to those in maintenance, especially those who've newly arrived. A lot of the focus on the boards goes - understandably - to losing weight, and the lifelong task of maintenance can get some short-shrift. Some of this, though, may be because people…

Does this group continue on into January or do you start a new one?
Im new to getting involved with a group. My weight fluctuates within 5 pounds of my ideal weight so I don’t need to lose. I’m just starting to take my food intake more seriously for my health. If I enter this community now will the whole group go on next month. I don’t want to fill it all out if I have to do it again in…

Projected calories
Sorry if this is in the wrong place. Has anyone noticed Myfitness pal projecting too much calories for maintenance, lose .5 per week, lose 1 pound per week etc. It is giving me 200 calories more than it used to be. Thanks

Recomposition: Maintaining weight while losing fat
There's a lot of talk about recomposition through the boards, so I wanted to have a place where we can compile research on it and experiences with it. When is recomp appropriate? When you are at a decent weight for your height, but your body fat is still at a level that is undesirable to you recomposition is probably a…

Hi everyone, coming to MFP from Slimming World
Hi all. So I have made the decision to start watching my calories for a few weeks and see how I go and weigh weekly so that I am keeping on track. I followed Slimming World in 2017 for about 2 years and lost 4 stone. I gave it up and returned to my old habits and ended up gaining 1 stone back. I have literally lost another…

any high protein lunch ideas?
I am a middle school athlete who recently lost quite a bit of weight! I am super proud but I still have a little bit of lower belly fat that I want to loose, but I don’t want to loose anymore weight. Does anyone have any high protein lunch ideas that I can take to school? I’m looking to maintain my weight and build some…

Why did my allowed calories number suddenly increase from 1810 to 2170? I have not intentionally changed my settings. Is this a program change, or something I accidentally did?

How do I change my goals in the app?
So to start, I'm using the android version of the app. I used to use myfitnesspal but then fell out of it for various reasons and recently came back. Since I came back , my fitness goals have changed. I'm trying to change my goals but when I do, it says something like "we cannot change your goals at this time". And I doing…

Why my bingeing happens: this might help others
I’m really writing this for myself. I notice that I gain significantly when I go shopping because I buy things and take little “bites” of everything. If there’s one thing I’ve learned while on this weight loss journey, it’s that the bites are what cause the gain. Either choose to have a serving size of something and track…

Length of maintenance period
For how long should we do the maintenance period? In my previous diets i did maintenance periods with the same length of weight loss period and keep up with exercises. But i always end up gaining the lost weight again. So what's the thing with dieting? Are we supposed to diet/maintain forever? I feel really discouraged.

Travel “Win”
Five years in maintenance this month, excluding the period I dropped too, too low. Five years in a size 4, small or XS. Five years without having to gnaw on “its mail order, so will it fit”, because it generally does. We just got back from a couple of weeks in Romania, including a week long tour with a friend where we…

Please answer real quick, Has any one lost weight at maintenance calorie setting?
The calories mfp gives me for 0.5/1 pound a week has never felt like enough and it’s discouraging. I was wondering and hoping that someone has lost weight at maintenance calories. My activity level is sedentary cus I’m at home all day. I exercise daily though and log it, and I eat back the exercise calories. Basically and…

Not counting, watching (sort of Intuitive Eating, but old-style, with gentle nutrition)
I've cycled around the same 10 lbs or so for over 40 years after dropping 25ish pounds. The last 10 years or so I've kept my weight lower and tighter, healthier eating, especially as I've started playing tennis again and my calorie burn skyrocketed depending on the weather. On trips (traveling/camping, 2-3 weeks 2-3x a…

Maintaining is a tough, bumpy road.
Hi, I'm a 50 year old women, in the throws of perimenopause. I lost ~30 pounds and have been in maintenance for about the past two years. Unfortunately, I've come to realize that over the course of the last year, I've gained back about 10 pounds. I just spent some time looking over my calorie & weight data for the last…
